    Great details for the novice but a view looking down on the lofting table would explain so much more to the audience 👍🏻

      I had a camera on that but it was pretty useless. You just couldn’t see the lines.

    There was/ is a channel Neophyte Boatwrights , that used some toy boats and sliced them up one in each of the three views . It was a useful demo. They haven’t finished their boat ,yet.

      Yes, I like those guys. That is a useful demo. I couldn't take the time for such a thing on this. I had the lofting board up and had just done my stem expansion and thought I should make a quick demo while it was fresh in my mind.

      They split up, and the boat went up to New England, I believe, with one of the guys. He has done only one video, I believe, and now has a full-time job. I suspect that the video series and the boat will remain unfinished for the foreseeable future.

      @@MikeAG333 That was Murphy who went to New England to become a wheelwright. I'm sure he'll get back onto the boat videos as time allows.

    Sir What is the Next Boat Build? Just wish I had more room

      The current build is a Glued lapstrake sailboat. The first video of that should be out soon but I have project from last spring that I will also start editing.

      They have done an outstanding job on that boat at a level that is far beyond what any average boat owner could possibly afford in this day and age. I have no idea what the value of the materials and work that went into it was but it could be a million or two. In short, they did everything to the highest standards that I can see.

      I think you mean stem. It’s spruce. Just for demonstration.

    I think you said that the plans give dimensions to the inside of the skin. Is that always the case or does it vary from one set of plans to the next?

    • @Nomadboatbuilding
      @Nomadboatbuilding  Місяць тому

      It varies from plans to plans and that is something you need to look for. I prefer to draw to the outside but that will require an additional process called mould reductions. As it is something that is baked into the lines you work from, you don't have a choice.

    What's the boat, Mark?

      This one is a Ned Painter Tyee boat from Campbell River, Vancouver Island. It’s designed for salmon fishing.
