Matt, you are a bonding and laminating wizard. You once again made the planning and execution of this step look so easy. Enjoy all the time you have to work with your mom. That can never be replaced. I’m sure that those memories will be some of your fondest memories as you age. Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful update! Great to hear the background stories of your helpers. Thank you for sharing this journey with us! Cheers to you all from Victoria BC.
Great video. I know it will be a while but I dream about the day she is finished and goes out for a first sail. Matt, you make laminating look so easy. I wish I knew 1% of what you know.
I've never so much as stepped foot on a sailing boat but here I am again, glued to the progress you guys are making. The idea of building a home that you can sail off into the sunset with is just so beautiful and inspiring. I wish you all the best on this amazing journey. Love from Australia!
Great teamwork with the sole deck and the care given to the hull. Olivia's story of spending summers in YP resonated with me as I also spent five summers back in the sixties cooking in Old Faithful and Canyon. It's addictive---ended up spending a honeymoon there as well. All of my sons had to suffer through road trips to the Rockies (esp to YP and Jackson Hole) with their old man but they still recall them with a bit of longing. This entire enterprise of yours is bringing back all kinds of hidden memories and I will be eternally grateful for that.
Fantastic progress this week Matt. Duracell is going to be simply amazing by the time you finish. Well done indeed, liked the background on the team from Small's too! Best wishes Malcolm Perrins
Fair play to the team doing the fairing and sanding because that’s got to be a horrible job. Loved how tight the fit was on the soul 👏🏼 Great to see mum back on the project ❤️
This is such an amazing project. It is so heartwarming, the community that has come together to do this. Your mom is just something else, as talented as she is and the support and work she has given you throughout. You and your wife and the inspector and now a little one to come along with you on this adventure. It is great to see Dave working with you. I’m acquainted with him through the Coots boating group and have followed his journey through boat building and his amazing furniture building and craftsmanship. Thank you so much for sharing this project with the rest of us. And please thank your wife for her amazing editing to help tell the story. I have spent many pleasant hours watching you transform Duracell into what is going to be a great cruising platform.Thank You, Hal Colvin.
What a great episode! I love how you wove a narrative throughout. I also enjoyed when Matt's mom (I can't remember her name. Sorry.) was the main character. Please have her show up in that role more often. :)
Just a suggestion: I would 'round off' the sharp corners which you stand next to on the thumbnail of thid video, thus following the curviture of the adjacent doors in order to reduce the amount of sharp edges for safety reasons as well as to make the overall interior of the yacht 'softer'. Keep on with your amazing project!
Another great one. I have to commend your upload schedule. Everyone else seems to aim for the weekend but I much prefer this mid-week upload. And also hi Matt's mom!
Impressed by your command of the process. It occurs to me that phasing work must be quite a challenge, accounting for cure times and keeping tasks and materials organized so that work can proceed without lots of “hurry up and wait”. Might be nice to hear about your project management strategies….
@Matt, seems as if you cut out the floor panels very tight. Will you seal/tape the edges, and if so, can you go over how much extra edge thickness you planned for when cutting?
Hey matt, first of all : its so much fun to see how everything is getting together right now and im really hyped to see the boat painted soon!! Buuuuut, every time i see this camera angel of the dockhouse or doghouse (dont know how its called ) with these 4 relative pointy edges then i wonder why you didnt shaped them really round for safety reasons... (dont want to jinx anything! and im knocking on woood (you say this in english, too? 🧐🤔) that never ever anybody will meet these corners when stumbling or falling when the boat is rocking hard in the waves) Or Maybe i just missed when you talked about the further design or your plan is already to build something there... Greetings from germany! 🙂
It will be interesting to see your solution for minimising water ingress to the battery compartment by the companionway door, I’m sure you’ve thought about this and have a strong solution haha :)
Ahhh a nice polite family friendly non political how / why to do it correctly video. Just when my heart was ripped out still beating from hearing Bob Ferguson is out governor. Just threw up in my mouth a little. I need me some of your motivation to inspire me to ge back to my boat. 17 ft assembly line built on a Thursday before a 3 day weekend. Fit and fitment here a figment . A friend asked it I was going to sell it? “ for profit? Ahaa no silly it’s a labor of love I do it to keep my sanity and not drinking”. Thank you two so much. Almost forgot mom & jr. Stay safe
I just keep thinking about the way you installed the large drain pipes through the hull for the hatch door in a different episode. I'm not knowledgeable about boat building, so I'm genuinely asking about this. Wouldn't it be better/safer to route drain tubes into the bilge? Then the water would be pumped out above the water line, with no additional holes through the hull. If one of those carbon tubes was somehow damaged, you'd have a terrible problem.
Love the admission that as much as you may try nothing is exactly square.. Every time I watch I keep thinking I'd minimally add another layer of glass.🤔
I've done some sanding in wood work and I'm wondering what they do to keep their fingers from bleeding and drying and cracking? I always hated that part.
Well.... there could be a rail like device on the ceiling of the doghouse and a chain hoist, couple legs and rail could go onto the cockpit floor and from there its simple.
Did you consider glassing the cleats to the walls? Especially from the top surface to the wall above it. You built the floor panels thicker because of the loads, but it seems like the epoxy holding the cleats on is the weak-point now.
That’s all well and good for static loads, but the epoxy on its own won’t be as tough as it would be with fiberglass. It also starts out with that shear strength but as material ages it will get weaker. Now is the time for cheap insurance!
This is the first time I noticed you are running the time-lapse on a track, but very subtle it was almost unnoticeable, or did you just program it to zoom? Good effect!
Hola Matt, When you said battery bank and engine compartment in the same sentence, that really caught my attention. Maybe clarify for your followers that you're not putting them both in the same compartment. That was confusing. And, I hate it when your stuff fits so well the first time. 😂😂😂 Your skills are what really attracted me to this project.
are you sure you don't want to clean up the bilge area prior to setting the flloor? I know it suxs major to do, but won't space be at a premium later? Just asking what your thoughts are cuz it would drive me crazy it not be imaculate down there.
Nice to see your mum back Matt, she puts a lot of men to shame with her work ethic. We could do with a couple thousand like your mum in Australia. Perhaps we’ll have to raise so money to bring her out
Looking good. Speaking of looking good! Was that a chev Bolt in your drive? I'm driving one but its rented. But love it and looking for one to buy now.
How did you know that the boat was level when you parked it? What procedures did you do to make sure the boat was level on the ground when you placed it on the hard? Are you sure that it's still level now?
Welcome back Super Mom!
Matt, you are a bonding and laminating wizard. You once again made the planning and execution of this step look so easy. Enjoy all the time you have to work with your mom. That can never be replaced. I’m sure that those memories will be some of your fondest memories as you age. Thanks for sharing!
Dave, the door frames came out perfect. The wood trim will really spice up the interior.
Awww…let them paint! I bet they’re really good! ❤ 🇹🇹
Wonderful update! Great to hear the background stories of your helpers. Thank you for sharing this journey with us! Cheers to you all from Victoria BC.
Your mum is awesome!
Great video. I know it will be a while but I dream about the day she is finished and goes out for a first sail. Matt, you make laminating look so easy. I wish I knew 1% of what you know.

thank you!
Yea. Your mom is back...briefly. Always enjoy her appearances.
Many props to Smalls and crew for their efforts 🙏
Always great to see Judy on board, she is an absolute gem❤
Dave did an amazing job on those door trims. Looks amazing. Thanks Dave.
Nice doghouse floor. I also appreciate the interviews with the people prepping for primer.👍😁👍
Fascinating. Are you sure Judy is your mom? She looks like your sister! She is loving working with you!
Loved this video
Liked the interviews
Missed The Inspector”
I had always wondered if you guys had run into Leo/Tally Ho since you are both in Port Townsend. Now I know :)
Best mom ever. Good progress
Like how everything you do is bonded so it is structural
And everything is foam cored
On strong floaty boat
It's a good thing you've done all that vacuum bagging to save weight with all that fairing compound going on it should help.
Duracell s going to look very different all one colour.
When is Matts Mum starting her own channel, she is great on camera. 2x👍

I love the doors work!
Thanks Matt and Janneke. Really needed a relaxing, entertaining and positive video after all the horror and emotions lately ...
Nearly at 100k, the boat will be even better will a silver UA-cam plaque on the boats living area wall!
million plaque on the way!
I'm amazed how much fairing goes on!
Doghouse is so cool. Profile of this boat is going to look awesome
I like to see both you and your mom become more and more comfortable in front of the camera.
Fantastic progress this week Matt. Duracell is going to be simply amazing by the time you finish. Well done indeed, liked the background on the team from Small's too! Best wishes Malcolm Perrins
loving the little plant B rolls! I'm from the desert so it sets the feel
Showing gratitude to those who have helped you in any way, is a sign of deep self-respect! (19:51)

Awesome music 🎶 in this video

we just randomly chose Wednesdays three years ago when we staretd the project :)
Love the interviews while filming them work. Made it very captivating
Thanks Cranston!
Leo's plane! Now I'm jealous! 🤩
Great video keep them coming
A lot of great teamwork being done in a professional manner. looking forward to the start of the painting of the hull, etc.
Looks like a lifestyle concept nearer. Nice coverage of daily action.
Many project & growing to see.
Nice channel.
I hope you have plush accommodations for mom on this boat… 🎉😉
It was great to hear Mom speak. She's a sweetheart!
Impressed by your command of the process. It occurs to me that phasing work must be quite a challenge, accounting for cure times and keeping tasks and materials organized so that work can proceed without lots of “hurry up and wait”. Might be nice to hear about your project management strategies….
Looking good guys. Keep up the good work and stay safe….
100k subscriber celebration should be a boat naming contest. My submission: “It’s Not A Schooner!”
Oh Happy Day!
Your mom is amazing.
i love those interviews, thanks!
@Matt, seems as if you cut out the floor panels very tight. Will you seal/tape the edges, and if so, can you go over how much extra edge thickness you planned for when cutting?
Absolutely beautiful...
WoW! You had like 10 people working on the boat. This is getting really serious 😂😂😂
I knew Smalls was from Trinidad !!!! From the first time I heard him speak accent is a dead giveway !!!! Hello from a fellow Trini !!!
Great work really enjoying the build. Sail hub, on UA-cam, are using a high density cork I think from Italy which might be of interest
Well done great content 😊😊
I enjoy the conversations with the fairing crew. I guess the inspector has wisely suspended visits while there's so much fairing and dust about.
I had no idea that you need this much fairing compound on a boat. Very cool to see
I find myself wondering whether it's too much? Well, I am sure Matt knows what he's doing, so trust the process I guess 🙂

They sand almost all of it off...
Hey matt, first of all : its so much fun to see how everything is getting together right now and im really hyped to see the boat painted soon!!

Greetings from germany! 🙂
Greetings from the Philippines 💪
Love it so much keep it up as always
Can't wait to see it Primed! Gonna look soooo different
Great video
By the music selection in this video, it sounds like someone is dreaming of visiting tropical islands. 😂
It will be interesting to see your solution for minimising water ingress to the battery compartment by the companionway door, I’m sure you’ve thought about this and have a strong solution haha :)
The effect that a little wood can have on the boat !
😮
You two are pretty cool cats!

Dave doors look great
Your mom is fantastic. New Zealand 🇳🇿

I've done some sanding in wood work and I'm wondering what they do to keep their fingers from bleeding and drying and cracking? I always hated that part.
I can’t imagine how you’re going to squeeze a motor in there but I know you’ll do it!
Well.... there could be a rail like device on the ceiling of the doghouse and a chain hoist, couple legs and rail could go onto the cockpit floor and from there its simple.
what engine you putting in it ? would be amazing if was electric drive, also where you putting the solar panels?
we're figuring this out now. pretty excited to share our solution.
Love the nature shots. Up in north west Wisconsin we've got our little piece of heaven and enjoy it so.
Huge space under the sole.
Did you consider glassing the cleats to the walls? Especially from the top surface to the wall above it. You built the floor panels thicker because of the loads, but it seems like the epoxy holding the cleats on is the weak-point now.
Except the shear strength of the epoxy is about 2000 psi. So each square inch of epoxy is good for 2000 lbs. Matt is not that heavy so all good.
That’s all well and good for static loads, but the epoxy on its own won’t be as tough as it would be with fiberglass. It also starts out with that shear strength but as material ages it will get weaker. Now is the time for cheap insurance!
First! Greeting from Canada, keep it going!
Trinidad to Port Townsend! A pretty big contrast in climate. I wonder if he misses his cricket? They seem like a really nice crew.
Love the channel, your mom is super cool, but not as cool as mine! Keep up the great work!
9:37 like a glove! 😅
Boy that is a deep bilge under the sole.
This is the first time I noticed you are running the time-lapse on a track, but very subtle it was almost unnoticeable, or did you just program it to zoom? Good effect!
Looks to me like we have a new camera...video quality looks to have improved 👌
A Tally Ho Easter egg!
_Ship's COMPANY!_
You'll find a Trini everywhere you go in the World ❤
Look forward to seeing her all one color, even if it is just primer. How many people and how long did it take to do the fairing?
Hola Matt, When you said battery bank and engine compartment in the same sentence, that really caught my attention. Maybe clarify for your followers that you're not putting them both in the same compartment.

we will clean it up for sure
Nice to see your mum back Matt, she puts a lot of men to shame with her work ethic. We could do with a couple thousand like your mum in Australia. Perhaps we’ll have to raise so money to bring her out
Great to see Tally Ho's tools being put to use.
Lunch ? They should get three days sailing on it when it's done.more like't 😊
How much weight do you think you have added with all the fairing compound?
50 pounds maybe
Fairing compound around sole of doghouse seems unsanded. Is that still to go?
one more week to go
Looking good. Speaking of looking good! Was that a chev Bolt in your drive? I'm driving one but its rented. But love it and looking for one to buy now.
yes
Great relief from all the political chatter…..that’s why we sail!
What's the plan for the space under the doghouse floor? Looks like a load of storage space!
Motor and battery bank..... Should have been more patient before asking 😂
How did you know that the boat was level when you parked it? What procedures did you do to make sure the boat was level on the ground when you placed it on the hard? Are you sure that it's still level now?
Hi Matt, what are those cleats for the dog house made of? G10??
Having used lots - that's pultruded glass angles.
