Now that EmuDeck has taken Citra out, you might want to add Lime3DS back onto EmuDeck. Let me show you how it's done!

But Nintendo discontinued their production in addition to their online store. Can you really blame people for emulating the software? A mint condition new 3ds XL goes for several hundred dollars at this point and the price isn't looking to go down at all.

Hey guys so to have it play in full screen you’ll open your controls after hitting steam and you’ll set them for this game and set one of the back paddles or any button you want, to F11. That’ll put it into full screen, I did this for suyu(yuzu) and it fixes it. Then also set one for esc, or don’t doesn’t matter if you just close the game all together

All games mirror desktop mode. So to default to full screen, enable full screen in the app on desktop mode, launch a game then quit. On returning to gaming mode it should just boot automatically into full screen.

The way it worked for me:
1. open Lime3DS in desktop mode
2. go to "view" and check "full screen"
3. just close Lime3DS and start the game in Gaming Mode via Steam

When I add a game directory I choose the "n3ds" rom folder with games already inside but they don't auto show up for me like they did for you in the video and because of this I can't parse the games to steam. Is there a fix for this?
Most likely your locations are incorrect.
I hope that this will stay for long time as main 3Ds emulator. After all Nintendo is not supporting 3DS platform anymore!
i wouldn't mind more emulators actually, the more developers the better it gets really.
If Nintendo lets say wanted to re release Kid Icarus Uprising or Tomodachi Life (finally), these emulators would still be an issue.
They can do lots of things to make it not an issue.
Found the solution for version 2110 app image not opening. Turn on dev mode in system, and also under system change OS update channel to "Main".
Wow, I always have developer mode enabled as I need to switch between game window and trainer window. Didn't know it's need to run an appimage.
I cant find system in system settings
In gaming mode, press steam button, settings > system > enable developer mode

If you want full screen when opening up in game mode.
You need to go in to desktop mode, open the lime app, turn on fullscreen, quit go back on to game mode now it shall be full screen on launching.
Any change you make on the desktop version saves, any change you make on game mode does not.

Awesome video was super concise and easy to follow its just that on the latest release 2114 the lime-qt.appimage isn't there. The only appimages in the folder are .cli room. and gui.appimage. Any idea which one I use as the path to citra?
Use the gui one.

I have added the game to steam (it ran on desktop mode on lime) but when I open it on the steam library, it never opens. I see the steam logo for a moment and then it closes.

Not sure why your parser is different, maybe update your emudeck and double check. I have a settings option and can switch to classic mode. I can create new parsers for different emulators.
Silly question, im renaming Nintendo 3DS citra to Lime3DS, the keypad doesnt come up in this mode to rename anything. X and steam + X doesnt seem to get it up

@GrownUpGamingGUG no matter what i do i cannot get the button to map from 6 to 7. Any fix for this??? i recently reverted back to steam OS from when I had windows on the steam deck
I even pressed the start button to turn it into gamepad mode but it does nothing when i try to remap it to 7
@@kursedx3566 maybe try it in gaming mode, map one of the back grip buttons to F11 so you can enter options in gaming mode.
ive been following alone up until around 9:20 i cant get citra to pop up in community presets
I've had that issue before. I tried a few times and it showed up again. Maybe it's the internet.
At Emulator window, go view > full screen to open emulator at full scree.

@@GrownUpGamingGUG Turns out doing this in Desktop mode fixed the problem. So just go to desktop mode, open Lime3DS, go to view > full screen. Go back to steam mode and enjoy :)

Try holding the start button in desktop mode for like 1 sec and you should hear a little beep. That's gamepad mode for your controls. See if that helps with input controls.

My steam deck doesnt let me use my cursor when lime is open on desktop and it wont let me click via touch screen to add a directory
Hold steam button and use right touchpad as mouse and R2 as left mouse click.

Whenever I try to set the executable to the lime3ds app image it automatically changes it to a PCSX2 app image I have installed in the emudeck theme and launches the ps2 BIOS while in gaming mode is there any way to fix this?
But I’m able to launch my games normally when I switch to desktop mode and launch lime3ds with the app image file
I'm not following. What's it got to do with pcsx2?
@@GrownUpGamingGUG no clue but when I try to open any 3ds game in gaming mode it opens the ps2 bios for some reason
@@yamomma5235 strange indeed. Did you map anything related to pcsx2 to lime3ds? Maybe remove pcsx2 and try it again?
@@GrownUpGamingGUG nope, when I switch the emudeck theme and map it to the correct files it switches it back once I switch themes. it’s confusing and I don’t wanna go through all the hassle of getting pcsx2 back
I don't know when Sudachi will become Linux compatible, but I hope you'll be ready for a new video when it happens!

@@GrownUpGamingGUG Well I can't use Sudachi on Steam Deck yet, so I'm not sure what are the alternatives besides Ryujinx at the moment. Though I heard Suyu got an update recently, but I'm going to hold off on that right now just in case.
Got it all to work but when I’m using the “main” OS update channel my screen is all fuzzy but it’s the only way to launch the from game mode. If I switch back to stable to get rid of the fuzz and whitish screen then I can’t launch lime 3ds.
Maybe try a different version of lime3ds? I'm using 2109
I followed every step, they show up in gaming mode but they start to launch, then return back to steam
So you get the shortcuts but they don't work? Maybe the shortcuts generated by steam rom manager has problems? Check the parser settings in steam rom manager.
I installed it and tried to play Mario 3D Land and NSMB2. Both runned well, but the controls are very slow, and the character moves like 3 seconds after I do the action. Could anyone give me a clue of how to solve this? Thank you!
I don't play a lot of 3ds emulation but I know it's not perfect. Do those games run well on pc? If it doesn't then it obviously won't run better on the steam deck. Maybe check for some best settings online or switch between opengl and vulkan to see if it performs better 👍

i do not have a file named "lime-qt.AppImage", the program was updated and now its not the same
Use the gui one. It's been updated like you said.
Sorry, i downloaded the files on the github, but the archives inside the zipped folder have different names. Do you know which one is the right file?

The parser doesn't show up in Emudeck. I followed every instruction. I can only launch the game through ES
I had to create it like I did in the video.

Hey, the appimage wouldn’t launch on my steam deck and I have no idea why, I downloaded it from discover now and by the life of me can’t find the „appimage“ file to link the parser, does anyone know where it could be?

Enable back grip buttons and bind a key to keyboard F11. Press it to go to menu and setup input controls. Gaming mode input might be different to desktop mode.

you should setup the input in gaming mode. map one of your back grip buttons to F11 or ESC to pull out the options in gaming mode and setup the input controls there.
I tried what you did, but when I press a button on my SD it doesn't change controls (input)? In Game Mode I can change controls but I can't save.

As this emulator is a fork of citra, citra requires roms to be decrypted.
I got it to work, the problem was the .3ds files so look for another page for the download

After installing GyroDSU and launching Lime3DS, what settings for gyro should you have on your Steam Deck? "As Mouse", "As Joystick"? Unfortunately none have worked so far 😞

If there's a button to reset gyro, that's great. If not, thank you for helping me with an actual in-depth video.

You need to have the game update CIA file and there's an option to install CIA with the emulator.

Hello, thank you for the guide! I run into an issue when it comes to playing the actual 3ds game and get a "fatal error" message. The 3ds games do not work for me. I have tried opengl, vulkan, and software.
Are your roms decrypted?

@@davidg047 I've read that the emulator settings of region might help with that but I've never encountered that issue. Maybe you got a bad dump?

I have a question that I think you can help me with , so I don’t have enough internal storage to download games , but I do have a 500gb sd card , so I wanna put my downloads folder in my sd card , it lets me extract and everything but when I launch the game it won’t let me play them , but when I put the downloads folder back in home the games work fine , but to continue getting games I need my download folder to be in my sd card , how do I fix it ? The games just won’t start when I switch the download folder to my sd card

I'm not sure why, but whenever I start up a game, it says fatal error occurred despite following all the steps.
Did you get them to work on citra previously? It's basically the same really so I don't see why it wouldn't work. Check your settings, roms, there's not much more.
I didn't have citra before as I never set it up. I watched this video first as it was the most recent
Go to settings > graphics > advanced > uncheck "Enable Hardware Shader". See if this works for you.

I haven't tried that, there might be a way. Need to test it out.
How is touch input in these emulators (excluding the ones for Switch and PSVita) on a Steam Deck?
I haven't noticed any problems with steam deck touch input so it's the same as any other touch input like phones, switch, 3ds, etc.

i recently got a deckmate phone mount. was wondering if you could figure out a way to set up phone as a second display? to play 3ds games or use as a secondary monitor? the closest i could get is by using deskreen but it doesn’t have touch input. thanks

You need to find an app that makes the iPhone to be recognised as a monitor, I'm not sure if there is a solution out there right now.

The newest version out of lime3DS is marked as GUI and not a QT anymore for anyone wondering. use the GUI of the 3...it is the larger file.

You could pause the screen and set it up manually. But I'm not sure why you don't have community presets.
Did the same for me but updating rom manager fixed it
If it's a fork of citra it has code that Nintendo now owns
I'm not familiar with how the open source license works. Are you saying Nintendo can change those code from open source to closed source now? So all the forks need to shut down? Is that how it works? Are there any examples of this?

Yes, it turns out the file I downloaded first was encrypted, but I didn't know that's when I decided to download it from somewhere else, and it said that the file is decrypted so everything is good for me now. Thanks for that

yuzu and citra were the same team so that's why they were taken down together. and they are also rereleasing 3ds stuff, most recently luigi's mansion 2 hd. but the main point is, nintendo owns them so they can strike them down even if they don't do anything with them now. gotta respect that.

@@mrblazabee7710 It's the -gui one. The other one is -cli which is command line interface, you don't want that. The -gui is the graphical user interface, which is the one you want.

Try right click the file and select properties. Then go to permissions and check the "is executable" box.

You need decrypted roms.

Try setting up the input controls in gaming mode.
My rom is unfortunately encrypted any idea how to decrypt them?
There's a tool you can use and get from the internet to decrypt 3ds roms. I won't share it here but I'm sure you can find it.
Trying to open the App Image and it’s just not opening
Do other appimages work? You need to pinpoint the issue. Whether it's the appimage you are trying to open is the issue, or your steamos is just not opening all appimages.
