- President Joe Biden said on Nov. 16, 2023, that he still believes Chinese President Xi Jinping is a dictator, even as the two leaders made progress in their relationship during a meeting outside San Francisco.

I mean as much as I love China and loves living in China, Xi isn't democratically elected nor is he a hereditary leader by tradition and right to rule. He's a dictator, in the very definition of the word. That doesn't mean he isn't good for China though. I believe for all of his faults, he truly cares about China and its people. I think that counts for a lot. That's what separates him from the rest and why i think the United States has to work to bring him and China over to our side and away from Russia, Iran, North Korea, etc. Statements like this don't help but not much has changed politically since Biden last made these statements, so if he changed his tune then he'd sound weak. So while I probably would have tried to side step that question, I'm not mad at his response either. And this is someone who loves China saying this.
