    thanks marta,
    there is a combination of textures. some objects have a tileable diffuse and baked lightmap, some have baked completed map in diffuse and baked lightmap both.
    changing sofa texture is same as changing floor or wall texture. a long two finger press swaps the main texture.

  • @joyceanblue
    @joyceanblue  11 років тому

    as a rule you need to group textures, for example a wall or a floor takes almost 70% of your screen space so give them individual textures. but objects such as a vase or a magazine or a dvd player do not need more than 128x128 space, so make one lightmap for all of them. again id stress make sure that your walls, ceiling, floor have the best possible quality lightmap, then the big furniture such as sofa or bed. and rest of the objects wont matter much, you can get by even without giving them lm.

    well i do use flatiron sometime but i feel to get a good result it is better to unwrap the objects manually, however you can use flatiron for smaller object which are not that much visible in the scene, such as vase and dvd and magazine etc.

    what you should try to use is vrayrawtotallighting map and vraycompletemap.
    the noise is not because of unity, its because of the renderer setting in 3ds max. so you need to fix the scene in 3ds max first.

    This video is AMAIZING you are a PRO. Im doing a house in 3ds max, I modeled it and textured it and also lighted it using vray. Everything is cool when I render it. But I have a question. Do I have to bake all the textures 1 by 1 of all my objects in scene (tables, chairs,tv,bed etc) and also unwrap em all? or do I only have to make all the scene as 1 object and 1 texture (multi-sub object) and then do the lightmapping?. I ask you this because I have 248 objects in my scene right now.
    thanks!!

    @José Luis Mora Arias lightmap is usually not dark but rather washed out and lack in contrast... its a good idea to save lightmaps as 32 bit exrs and edit them in your favorite image editing software and bring out the contrast.

    there are two layers of exterior environment, first a portion of a spherical geometry outside the balcony. and a cubemap outside of it. (visible from bathroom window)

    @joyceanblue  11 років тому

    you guys should try to understand that the most crucial step is to bake a good lightmap, forget abt 3ds max or unity. just render out your lightmaps in exr or any 32bit image and then play with it in your favorite image editing software. what you need most is a good pair of eyes to see if there are any washed out areas or areas which are too dark, make sure there is a good contrast in the lightmap. if the lightmap is good the outcome will be good without much adjustment in unity.

    i bake bigger geometry such as wall, floor etc at 2048x2048 resolution. but i think one can get away with 1024 resolution as well. but it doesnt hurt to bake in highres and reduce the size in unity itself.
    maybe your scene is too dark? try adjusting the diffuse color in lightmap shader, it multiplies with main texture and lightmap, also try increaseing "ambient color" in rendering setting in unity to adjust brightness of whole scene.

    great work, Sajid
    I was wondering if you use baked textures - how do you change the shading of the furniture?

    Hey Sajid... Your video is the best one I've seen around by far.
    I'm able to change most of the stuff I need in my project but how to you setup your model to change materials like that?
    Script? And if so, which one? Also, is there a way for me to set it up so I can change with a click of a button as opposed to touch screen?
    Thanks Again...

    Hi.First of all, nice work!
    I've been doing something similar, but i'm getting dark lightmaps. Not completely dark, but they seem darked than how they see in regular render, so I have to use Photoshop to make them lighter. Did you have the same problem, or I'm doing something wrong?
    Thanks!

    Hi! Nice work! May I ask you what shaders are you using?

    • @joyceanblue
      @joyceanblue  10 років тому

      not something that ships with unity, we use our own custom build lightmap shaders.

    I've also been experimenting with Unity and archviz. One of my main difficulty is achieving realtime reflection. I've tried the Hard Surface Shader pack too, but there the reflections are distorted. If you could share some advise I would appreate it. Thank you!
    By the way yours is one of the best realtime archviz presentation!

      thanks for the comments mate.
      i did try using hard surface shader but result wasnt satisfactory for me. i think on the glass table i still use hard surface shader..
      there are two types of reflection in the scene. realtime mirror reflection (script you can find in uni forum) and one with cubemaps rendered in 3ds max (for blur reflection) the wooden furniture uses cubemap.. check the tile designer video, wooden flooring in that vid uses cubemap too...that being said i am still searching for a nice realtime blurry reflection.(hospital ward floor uses faded realtime reflection but not blurry)

      @zsomborgusztus9288 10 років тому

      ***** Thanks you for your answer.
      Yes, my tip was that on the glass table there is Hard Surface Shader, because its reflection is distorted like that one. :)
      I tried cubemap, it works fine on objects for example, but on large flat surfaces it looks strange. I already found the mirror reflection shader too.
      I am looking for a shader that is on the hospital ward video. Something that has a diffuse texture slot, knows realtime reflection (without blur) and has a fresnel amount parameter. That one is a custom shader?
      As I ve seen blurry reflection is still pretty unique in realtime, it is pretty calculation heavy. Maybe Cryengine3 knows it and probably next generation engines... :)

    Is the touch screen can run any real time project by using unity3d directly without the need for programming software to communicate with them?

    Perfect. I have some question. In which program, you modelling all goods. I use 3dsmax for modelling and import complete interior scene to unity but import error occurs. How can i manage this import error ?

      Darvinius Berar the touchscreen is running on a windows machine, but yes a tablet version to run on android can be compiled on unity as well.

    Then change the channel back to 1 and Move. Save the file as FBX and import it into unity. Tried to play with ambient color in unity but didn't success, as i expected.
