Ray is a true Inspiration to me because I was born Visually Impaired and my retina detached 8 years ago so quite naturally ill probably be blind before I die and I can draw off of his wisdom and knowledge Rest well Ray Charles a true legend and patriot for us Visually Impaired and blind People
His mother did great! Quincy Jones said he had a hard time believing that he was blind because of how well he got around. He wouldn't have made it if his mom did everything for him. May she, him and George continue to R.I.P
My mom was just like Ray’s mom. My mom never allowed me to use my CP as an excuse just as Ray was never allowed to use his blindness as an excuse. And my mom, similar to his , would tell me, “You’re handicapped/crippled you ain’t stupid” She’s passed on now but I relate to this aspect
Amazing to me. And to think the amount of people in our modern world who fall apart at a slight while this guy, Mr Ray Charles defied multiple odds during a time in America when the odds were tougher than now. I've watched interviews of him. Watched videos of his live performances not once has he ever displayed self pity nor self entitlement. He was not flawless but clearly he worked hard to achieve his goals. In turn he created a timeless legacy. This interview here, he gives his mom all the credit for teaching him how to do a lot on his own. Obviously she was a great mom. A special mom for sure. One who didn't coddle him but prepared him for life's inescapable cruelties and hurdles. If only parenting was like that more often in our society. Gratitude shows on his face the moment he starts talking about her. His smile grows wider. He loved music with a an undying love but his mom was #1 and always would be. If only more in 2017 would be as tough and determined as Ray Charles. One of the greatest celebs. A great American who lived his country despite real struggles. Without being offended.
Ray Charles mother was the truth & stood on big business

Bless her!!1 She prepared him for the real world like a mother is supposed to do!!!
Exactly
Mothers, true mothers, do all they can for their children and teaching them how to survive is a big part of it!

makes me wonder if a trapped emotion made him go blind..seeing his brother drown..if you ever read the emotional code book..

Anywhere I can find the full interview of this?

😎👍🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼
I cant hear him...
Ray Charles, Sam Elliott, James Earl Jones have the best voices. Bobcat Goldthwait, not so much.😳
