    Another appreciated presentation Lou.
The Mustang 'Sprint' is a credit to Bob with his decade+ restoration and his attention to detail.
Thinking there is a four barrel carburettor under the air cleaner unit with this 2V engine.
Good to see an original working York air-conditioner compressor.
    .
Many items seen on this limited edition Mustang found on Aussie made Fords.
Ford production in Australia ceased in 2017.
For high performance we now have imported RHD Mustangs.
    Priced from around AU$60,000.00.

Thanks, Lou. I was a young teen that year, and so of course for some years after I'd see the very infrequent one here and there on the streets of Chicago. I always had the impression they were bare-bones models with themed graphics to make them more appealing. After all, that era of Mustang was only one year away from the graveyard and things started getting pretty dim in general for cars. However, I now see that wasn't the case thanks to your video. Pretty darn cool, especially that eye-popping interior. Kudos to the owner for his dedication.

Beautiful car! I'm thinking it would have been great if Ford continued to offer this generation Mustang along side the Mustang II through 1978, and then the Fox replacing them both for 79. I believe Ford could have done it. The ponycar started coming back in the mid 70s.

After all the American effort to make a 1972 Olympic "Sprint Edition" it turns out the Soviet won the darn race.

Everybody overuses the phrase, "restored to original" nowadays, but this car (esp. the engine bay) is on a whole other level of restoration. Even the hex flats on all the nuts look like a wrench never tightened them. Thanks for bringing this to us, Lou.

There used to be a pristine 72 Maverick Sprint in my area in this very color scheme. I would see it fairly often up until a few years ago but it hasn't been around of late. Maybe the owner sold it. They offered the Pinto Sprint as well, as indicated in the ad.

Im going to ask a silly question about these 72 Ford Sprint cars .Did Ford ever market a similar version in Canada or is it my imagination that i saw some of these vehicles in Canada? With Canadian graphics? Im aware of 1976 GMC trucks with Montreal Olympics paint and decals.

    • @loucostabile
      @loucostabile  6 років тому

Not 100% sure, maybe a Viewer can share knowledge. With the color scheme, I'd guess a US production sold car.

@@loucostabile I am more familiar with the Maverick Sprints and they definitely had a Canadian version. Only difference was the decal on the quarter panel was a Maple leaf instead of the US flag. We have one in our Maverick group. So I would assume they did all three.

Absolutely beautiful car! Fantastic job! I had one of these as my first car back in 1978. Mine was a fastback with a 351-C 4-V & a toploader 4-speed on G60-15 studded snow tires the entire year or so I owned it! It had been repainted black and, living in southern Maine at the time, had already started to rust under the floorboards. Being 18 and new to Mustangs I knew nothing about it being a special edition and all. I just knew I loved it! Looking back now I think I had more fun with that car than any I've had since.
Some trivia for you. Did you know they had a version sold in Canada that had a Canadian flag in the shield on the quarter panel? Whether the spedo was calibrated in KPH rather than MPH I don't know. I suppose it could have been optional. Other than that they were just the same as the US versions.

I remember those - you could get a Pinto and Maverick Sprint as well. Nice! Always thought the blue color was bit too light of a blue. Revell made plastic scale models for those at one time. He needs one of those to put in his trunk.
