This is such a good lesson. I graduated with a Bachelors in trombone performance and after graduating, have been teaching myself guitar. Learning the fretboard is a way bigger deal than I thought it’d be lol. Anyway, thank you for the lesson!

This is a great lesson and really helped me clarify how open triads function and how to properly voice them. The pool ball abstraction is brilliant. I've managed to add a bunch of these voicings over the years through trial and error as well as listening/copying a lot of Eric Johnson licks, but this opened my eyes as to how to systematize it. The arpeggios and broken triads are also extremely cool. Years ago, I was studying jazz guitar at a well-known music school and used some of these in chord melodies that I built, only to be roundly criticized. But to me, they are just beautiful and have punch and clarity as well as opening up to other harmonic approaches (I'm thinking about Tim Miller here) and a whole other world of seemingly endless chord voicing that sound fresh and dynamic. The other thing is that the players I gravitate to when I simply want to listen lean heavily on triads in their improvisation - Bill Frisell in particular. Anyway, great lesson and much thanks.

excellent, but the angle youre holding the guitar at makes it difficult to see how you're fingering some of the chords..oops just saw you created pdf's thx

i feel like if we met a decade ago i'd at least give u half the money i've spent on my collage education for a more immersive version of these lesson videos. I believe u'd be happy for getting paid and i'd be happy to get some education that actually means something.
