- In this video, we take a short trip to Shelbyville, KY to partake in the Sunday Buffet at Claudia Sanders Dinner House. Claudia Sanders is the name of world-renowned Colonel Harlan Sanders' wife, and this restaurant features her recipes which focuses on southern comfort cuisine.
In 1959 Colonel Sanders and his family moved from Corbin Kentucky where KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) was founded to Shelbyville into Blackwood Hall. In 1968, they decide to open The Colonel's Lady which came to be known as what we know today as Claudia Sanders Dinner House.
This restaurant has menu service throughout the week served family style and on Sundays they have a buffet which we came for.

Went there 40+ years ago. Folks were seated at large tables, and the food was brought out in serving bowls, trays. Truly family style. So good to see the quality is still there.❤

Good, glad to see it still open as the restaurant. Whew, was concerned when it was up for sale recently. Food looks terrific. It's worth a trip.
We had the same concern, but it seems to be going strong for the time being. If the restaurant ends up selling eventually, not sure of that will change though.
I remembered the first time I tried American food was .,....... KFC at the other side of the world. I was just an elementary student.

2012 to 2018. i worked in Jeffersonvill indiana , Mishawaka indiana and elkhart indiana and shepearvill kentucky I hiked Appalachia mountains and saw wooden figures loved it. Everyone thought I was American Indiana tourist would take my picture. I am Mexicano. I visited that place, I remember loved it.. Frank Martinez Downey California ❤❤❤

thanks, i enjoyed that. my fave is fried cabbage. i like to thin slice leftover steak, onions, half a cabbage, fried just enough to stay juicy. pour over cold rice and drizzled with touch of soy sauce. i am so craving it. it's hard to get an appetite in this triple digit heat. gonna go get a dragon's blood slushee.....
So basically, this a a Golden Corral version of of The Colonel.

I wouldn't say that. Yes, they are both buffets, but they are not even in the same ballpark in terms of quality of food. Claudia Sanders is wayyy better than Golden Corral in my opinion and is also not the same as KFC. I am not saying it is deserving of a Michelin Star but I like it a lot and I find it a good representation of decent southern cuisine. Their Sunday buffet is the same food that they serve in their restaurant throughout the week off the menu.

What a shame that the KFC restaurants dont have the care taken in them the food is never fresh and they want to charge you an arm and leg growing up with KFC their food has changed from Awesome to just plain gross Mr Sanders would really be upset with the way things have become. I never eat there.

Is it as g ^^^^y as KFC. If you want hardening of the A, eat KFC.. I did not know the Claudia (Colonel )Saunders had a restaurant in KY. It looked like you were happy. Now I have to go Shelbyville Ky, which I doubt, but would love to try the Buffett.
I don't remember the fried chicken being all that greasy. I was definitely happy, my family tends to visit this place a few times a year and we like it a lot.
Do they have the buffet thru the week or only on Sunday?
They only offer the buffet on Sundays but it is all day on Sunday.
I don't know if people just turned evil once their millionaires. Is it in the template? What these big corporate did to his original recipe was horrible. Anyway I hope this restaurant would continue to prosper as its parts of history
Why not show your food while you're eating
The reason why i disliked the video is because u hold up the food to the camera and never let it focus. It blurs your viewers eyes. You talk real low and I cant understand ypu. Sorry. Hope the feedback helps with future videos
It's tragic that KFC decided to absolutely ruin their food and spit on the original recipe.
