I think that Overclock might work wonders with the Exothermic Reactor perk on the Wave Cooker. You can just freeze them instantly, tickle them with the Cooker, and get a huge burst of damage on them.
@@brayerkh nah exo reactor is better. sure you can't mine with it, but you need to freeze just a few then let exo reactor's explosion freeze the rest for you. chain popping a whole mob it's so satisfying. plus it's as braindead as it comes, EPC takes proper skill😯
TCF on EPC would just kill the swarm on its own, no need to freeze first. If youre going to freeze everything the wave cooker is better, you instafreeze the front of the swarm, microwave them for a second, they die and freeze the bugs behind them with the steam.

Use the WC OC that allows the beam to penetrate up to 3 targets (I think it's called Diffusion Ray), you can freeze and temp shock entire swarms with very little ammo usage.

@@axtheaxe7633 but again - the tick rate for freezing enemies causes the efficiency to be negligible. The main freezing power level you need to feel a decent increase in power is 10. If you don’t take tier 1 or 4 cold mods then tuned cooler really isn’t doing much outside of giving you an annoying startup delay and some minor freeze time buffs to big enemies and we’re talking like .3 second differences here, or like 3-4 ammo. But cold radiance gives you +6 fucking freeze in a 3-4 meter radius and that’s pretty large and kinda OP. Meaning you just freeze everything around you effortlessly even with base cryo cannon. So use the ammo OC which allows you to shoot cryo longer and gives you more ammo (which can make up for the ammo gain with tuned cooler), and you’ll likely never notice a difference as long as you use cold radiance to its max effectiveness. That said, tuned cooler IS good, but not good enough to justify the annoying startup timer.
As a driller main, I avoid using any projectile OC for the cryo because I WILL fat finger the reload button. Not a fan. I can counter range mobs without the need of it.
Fun fact: its actually safer to do machine events like the O.M.E.N tower after dotty cracks the ommoran. Basically it means you dont have to look after dotty while you work on the event. Also, its easier to do omens specifically by having the engi build plats out from the wall over top of the access panels (about as far up off the ground as molly is tall). You can still get scanned up that high and you don't have to worry about the bottom section.
@@sirtangerine1465 both attack mods and less overheat i think. Basically it doubles your dmg and when things get frozen it doubles your dmg again. You can do 18 per tick to unfrozen target and 36 per ticks to frozen ones
A maximum of 405 dps is certainly better than the flamethrower's 262, but you will have to freeze targets otherwise it does 232 at most. I think flamethrower is still a bit better for the high dps since it can do better against enemies that are hard to freeze and deal with grunts quicker due to having no startup before firing (also i just prefer flamethrower, use whatever you want)
Ugh I hate the tower overclock because nobody seems to understand the 2 biggest kill factors: 1. Get rid of the bottom first, everyone just focus on that over anything else its literally 75% of the deaths. 2. If it has bomb drones have 1 person sitting back and just targeting those. If you get those 2 things done which is sooo simple you'll complete it everytime with very little issue.
I usually take out the bomb drone first if it has it. If you have an engie, you can put platforms over the standing points, which kinda trivializes it.
@@jamie-cx5vr Problem being 95% of parties have 1-2 stupid people in them, so they will stand there getting slapped by the floor shots while you're trying to get the top drones down. If you get the bottom down first always it eliminates that stupidity issue and 1 person can easily shoot drones all day as they're not exactly tanky.

Might be cool with wave cooker mod that spreads the cold around, freeze one bug with tiny amounts of ammo then spread the freeze with wave cooker shots while simultaneously temp shocking. This is especially good with Praetorians and oppressors (who are more resistant to freeze) when they have the little bugs near them and you can pass the big ones the cold from the little ones Also, shellbacks don't get frozen in place but will still take the damage multiplier
Btw enemies like shellbacks you can "freeze." Although they won't actually be frozen, damage dealt will still increase by the frozen status multiplier!
Tuned Cooler used to be a lot stronger but got nerfed a while ago. It works out to where you freeze things only a few frames faster at the cost of a slower wind-up time.
tuned cooler is one of my favorites, I go FULL COLD just do do it and the Microwave gun with a temp shock central. If you do it right you can make it where you freeze a group around a big enemy, shoot them with the cooker, pop the big guy and get massive damage then pop the smaller guys and freeze the big guy again. rinse repeat. Great on all but dreads.
Snowball isn't a bad overclock, it's pretty damn good, only 25 ammo per one snowball. (Also cryo insta freezes grunts without the tuned cooler as well, you don't actually need to use tuned cooler if you only want to freeze grunts.)
I use Snow ball a lot and I can confidently say that it's better than tune cooler at 4 things: -It can freeze mobs from a far, things like Menace, Tyran weed, Spitballer, ect. -Instantly freeze large group of enemies -It's amazing at dealing with group of Mactera, having large freeze AoE and will freeze them instantly. -It's can effectively freeze Dreadnaughts with just 3 shots that cost only 75 ammo and prevent them from thawing out. My Snow ball cryo build is: 1-3-1-3-2. Try it out and im sure u'll like it.
Funny enough if i remember correctly machines can get frozen but just doesnt show it like freezing a shellback but no freeze icon like most enemy does, cause i saw a scout that throw 2 cryo grenade and deal massive dmg with his jumbo shell
Use this overclock with wave cooker with exothermic reactor, barbed drills with vampire perk, pickaxe with faster recharge. Just a quick blast of cold and use everything else to finish them off. It conserves precious ammo.
I have this overclock and it's really good! But i think th other overclock with clocks on the yellow background is better. It allows you to shoot INFINITEVLY. Sorry for the bad punctuation, and, ofcourse, this is my opinion.

There is nothing that has ended a haz 5 mission for me more than a korlok. I once had one that eould occasionally spawn enough of its sprouts in a separate room so i had to run back and forth between rooms killing them. By the time i would get back to the main body it would almost have closed again. (I do realize that i could mitigate this issue by killing the ones in the other room first but i didn't think of that at the time)
Improved thermal efficiency is generally better than tuned cooler, you lose like a few milliseconds on freeze time but that doesn’t really matter, also allows you to stall out freezing dreads with a lot more lenience with the downtime. tuned cooler is often a downgrade compared to the base gun in high level play

If ranged freeze is what you're looking for in a build, then it's decent? but snowball is the objectively better alternative in terms of usage.

I wouldn't say it's objective. Freeze is still very useful outside of cold radiance. It's stat downs don't rly affect cold radiance, except the faster startup, but it's not that hard to compensate. And snowball is good, but more situational and less safe because of the repressurization.
If you ever get the tower drop it down by digging under and it's really easy And if theres an engineer get them to put some pads above the plasma waves
I use that perk and just use all the mods that add freezing power. I don't rack up kills like I would if I had added damage or whatever, but when I have other dwarves to deal that bonus damage to frozen enemies, it does wonders to just freeze everything in a few seconds and let the gunner go absolutely ham. I pretty much run that overclock exclusively for Cryo cannon. The only exceptions are against Dreadnoughts and during Industrial sabotage. I'll change it to max damage Ice Storm in those situations.
In addition I'd recommend using the freeze aura for the final perk instead of the one that has a chance of causing frozen enemies to just shatter. That freeze aura is just another stackable freeze source, which means it just freezes even faster if enemies get into your face. Also great for swarmers if you are in the middle of a wave. They'll just freeze once they get close enough without being able to do anything if you happen to be shooting.
I don't understand why people run icestorm for elimination. I might need to try it again, but if you have a decent team who will watch the freeze meter and be read to shoot, going full freeze is absolutely amazing on elim.
If your gonna use the upgrade that makes enemies explode when frozen take the flow rate mod become when they are frozen each particle that deals damage has a chance to shatter enemies and with more fire rate it’s way more likely

Snowball is very good at high haz, you just use it in a more situational way. Its best for macteras, or just helping friends from a distance.
I liked it a lot, but I kept using like 1/3 of my ammo accidentally hitting reload getting on pipes or zips lmao

Ice storm is another REALLY good overclock with this. Makes cryocannon the most damaging dps gun in the game. Melts down big enemies

It’s def not the most damaging dps gun in the game lol. It’s very good, but it’s not meant for pure dps.

Yeah, when a machine is frozen it retains it's movement but it gets the same damage vulnerability as any other frozen enemy

I always feel kinda bad telling people this cause they all seem to be so in love with tuned cooler which is fine but then they start saying its actually the best for freezing which is just wrong lol
I wouldn't say it's objective. Freeze is still very useful outside of cold radiance. It's stat downs don't rly affect cold radiance, except the faster startup, but it's not that hard to compensate. And snowball is good, but more situational and less safe because of the repressurization.
Pair it with the microwave for temperature shock

I use that perk and just use all the mods that add freezing power. I don't rack up kills like I would if I had added damage or whatever, but when I have other dwarves to deal that bonus damage to frozen enemies, it does wonders to just freeze everything in a few seconds and let the gunner go absolutely ham. I pretty much run that overclock exclusively for Cryo cannon. The only exceptions are against Dreadnoughts and during Industrial sabotage. I'll change it to max damage Ice Storm in those situations.
In addition I'd recommend using the freeze aura for the final perk instead of the one that has a chance of causing frozen enemies to just shatter. That freeze aura is just another stackable freeze source, which means it just freezes even faster if enemies get into your face. Also great for swarmers if you are in the middle of a wave. They'll just freeze once they get close enough without being able to do anything if you happen to be shooting.
I don't understand why people run icestorm for elimination. I might need to try it again, but if you have a decent team who will watch the freeze meter and be read to shoot, going full freeze is absolutely amazing on elim.

If your gonna use the upgrade that makes enemies explode when frozen take the flow rate mod become when they are frozen each particle that deals damage has a chance to shatter enemies and with more fire rate it’s way more likely

I wouldn't choose the Tier 5 gear mod Fragile. They reason you are freezing so quick is mostly from the cold radiance effect. 5 meter AoE around you.
