- The Boston Bruins have made some additions and some subtractions this offseason. We lost Ullmark, DeBrusk, Heinen, and more. The Boston Bruins have added Elia Lindholm, Nikita Zadorov, Max Jones, and more.
I will explain their needs and weaknesses and answer, "Are the Boston Bruins better NOW?"
This will be a longer opinion video, so please let me know what you think in the comments. Thank you for watching.

Let me know what you think. I know not everyone will agree, but that is okay.
Yes they are
I think they're better now!
I agree with every single word in this video. Nailed it. Other than, if Korpisalo falters, I’d expect Busse could cover. If Busse also falters than yeah, slight regression. But this defense can cover. Wow this defense looks so hard to play against now. And when we get Draisaitl next year…😂😂😂🤞🏼
I’m putting a lot of trust in goalie Bob which he has earned.
Korpi will be fine...
Very excited to see this season!
Same. Hope it’s fun
Theyre better cause theyre bigger and have a C who can win draws in the defensive zone. They are a winger or two away but time for Lysell or Poitras, Freddy or Brazeau to step up. Gryz being out of the top 4 is huge too
Once they sign Swayman and I believe it's just a matter of time, they will be definitely better IMO.
For certain we needed more size on defense to replace grzelcyk. His game fell off last year big time and he looked over powered and undersized a lot. I am excited to see Lohrei's continued development. He looked great at times last year. I expect he will still make mistakes but he is going to be a very solid addition on our defense both defensively and offensively. Our 7 defensemen including wotherspoon look very solid IMO
With the additions we have made at offense how can we not be better? I did not like seeing Heinen leave but he deserved more money then we could afford to keep him. If we can get a rookie or 2 from Providence to be able to make the leap to the NHL that will be a bonus. Also if Poitras can pick up where he left off and contribute consistantly, we should see an improvement offensively. IMO
Special teams are gonne be fine I think...Our penalty kill should be as solid as ever and hopefully we can get the power play a bit more consistent.
As for goaltending...I could play net for the Bruins LOL with their systems in place and commitment to defense the Bruins historically make any goaltender coming here look better.
I think the Bruins and Panthers will fight it out for #1 in the division. Toronto should be 3rd. I dont think the other teams have made any significant steps to challenge those 3. Maybe Tampa still has enough to grab 4th or even 3rd place IMO
Great analysis. Yeah, I think with the addition of Lindholm it gives the Bruins that bumper option again on the powerplay
@@bruinsdiehards Yes and he wins faceoffs at a good rate.
awesome deep dive!
Why thank you kind sir
I think a much better, much tougher, bigger team and add the young players who are showing so much promise and we have a special team that can hopefully be great in the playoffs and finish with more points in the regular season! We need to have Swayman and Frederic- I am confident we will and I see Freddy having possibly a breakout year after winning the 7th player award and getting better every season. I'm hopeful!
I’m hoping for a breakout year from Frederic as well. Maybe 20 goals
They feel very top-heavy to me. That is easier to shut down in the playoffs. We need guys like Geekie & Freddy to step up. One thing I like about this team is, I don't see them giving up last-minute goals anymore. Maybe they'll be comfortable with 2-1 victories.
I agree with Freddy and Geekie; we need big years from both of them
certainly added size and speed. since 2019 ive been very tired of the bruins getting beat up or getting out bruined. there are some receipts i think many of us want to see dealt with. .
Right there with you. Zadorov, man has been something they have needed
@@bruinsdiehards yes! always thought he is perfect for a bruin but nver saw it happening.
Lovely breakdown
Thank you for the positive feedback
I think they're ok. I'd consider moving Merkulov Carlo for Necas
Would Carolina do that deal?
I have no problem with the players they let walk. I still feel this team needs more size and toughness in their top 6-9 forwards. It’s not about dropping the gloves, it’s about being hard to play against. Physical teams have had their way with Boston over the past several years.
Almost all of their signings though were big guys with size. Max Jones might be a sleeper signing
@@bruinsdiehards we shall see what opening night roster looks like. Zadarov will help. I just see a team that is way too gentle. Bruins fans want a tough and talented team. Think 2011. That team was hard to play against. You weren’t pushing them around. Again, I don’t mean just fighting, I mean playing the body, being strong on the puck, not allowing any teammate to be pushed around.
Well Paul Maurice did say the Bruins were the toughest they played against in the playoffs last year. I think your rght though they need tk be a hard out
@@bruinsdiehards not sure about that, but Florida is now who you have to get by in the East.
Florida is 100% the team to beat in the East but I think the Bruins aren't as far away from them as in thr past
Ant team which removes DeBrusk and Grzelcyk from its roster has improved.
Ok, I truly laughed out loud in a good way. Thank you for that. Best answer ever
@@bruinsdiehards Grzelcyk is simply too small to be an NHL defenseman, period.
He can skate and pass. So why not give him a try as a forward? I never understood that.
DeBrusk helped to crybaby a Stanley Cup winning coach out of the organization.
How long will Rick Toccet put up with the timidity of DeBrusk?
They certainly have a much higher potential to be better! Unless Elias Lindholm has an absolutely embarrassing season, this team is better than before.
Elias potential excites me. After what we saw in the playoffs I think will get a great player
@bruinsdiehards Absolutely. Every other non bruins fan youtuber keeps saying how the bruins lost the UFA day, I disagree. I think Lindholm will have a much better game with the bruins than most other fans of different teams expect. Also good job on the content, great and clear way of speaking and fantastic mic quality 👏
Thank you so much for the kind words. I truly appreciate it.
Ha, I have that shot of krejci ,signed, framed on my wall.
That is awesome. What other picture do you have?
@bruinsdiehards Torey krugs first goal signed and dated, a Brandon Carlo signed and a 16x20 of marchy fighting subban , subban helmet off covering up, signed. All 4 have the same solid wood frame and they're together on the same wall. Geez I've got jerseys signed, sticks, mini helmets and pucks scattered through my home. One big man cave. I met and got a stick signed by bergeron at the south shore Plaza in braintree during his last season.
Sounds like a great collection
I can agree on most of your comments but I feel Zacha kind of disappeared after February - you over valued Zacha, hopefully if Zacha can play wing he’ll score more
My hope is on the wing with Lindholm he can have more opportunities for offense and have to skate less. I still think he was a valuable player on the roster last year
They don't have a #1 goualie at this point.
You don't think Swayman will sign?
Bruins only get better each season…
I'm still waiting for those years like in the late 90’s
For years, the Jacobs brothers have had the belief that if the team had a mediocre season, and are still able to draw in the fans, and those fans purchased more food and drink at concession stands this year as compared to the previous year game for game, then the season was a success. Unfortunately, that once-proud organization that had very likable players like Orr, Sanderson, Esposito, Cashman, O’Reilly, and Bourque have lost a great amount of that mystique over the years. The fans have been forced to settle for mediocrity, with no change in sight.
I find that very interesting. I’m not saying g the Jacob’s family hasn’t done some things in the years but the Bruins have consistently spent up to the cap ceiling and the team has been competitive for years. There is a lot more franchise like Toronto have actually been mediocre and had zero success since 1967. I personally think some of the teams port choices will call them has to do with Neely and his influence and his constant meddling to trade away talent to big in a slow player that punch people in the face and nothing else.
