Its a bed mounted tire changer I know because I live on the border and I see trucks with similar setups in the back all the time. Its for trucks that cant be reached by a tow truck.
salty it’s not a tire changer. That is a mandatory spare tire relocation mount to provide as much underbody clearance as possible for off road chase/jumps. It relocates the spare to a location that is easy and fast access in the event the spare is needed. The spare could not be located in front of the tubs because they used flush boxes up front. Plus, they required a full size spare versus the less desirable one it came with on the assembly line.
Dude! You do not need to get parts for the rear-doors because of the latches!! About 15 years ago, I used to drive a taxi cab, and 90% of our fleet was old Crown Victoria cop cars bought at auction -- all of the rear doors were disabled from the inside, but it was an *easy* fix! All they did was pop the door-panel off and physically disconnect the rod that went from the inside door handle to the latch -- the rod was still in there, hanging by its connection to the door handle! It's a 30-second repair -- you simply pop the rod back into the door-latch mechanism and you're good to go. I'll *guarantee* you that they did the same thing to this truck as they did to the old Crown Vic's we used to get for the cab company -- don't waste your money on new doors or latches or *anything* until you've taken those door panels off and looked inside!
you are lucky you have an honest mechanic. If it was the other 99% of mechanics you'd have a $3,000 bill for fixing your $20 fuel pump relay. Shout out to the wizard for being an honest mechanic! finally you got a money maker instead of a money pit on your cheapest car in the USA series. lol

Have the wizard unhook the vacuum hose at the intake and then plug it up and turn on 4wd. If the noise is still there its the transfer case. If the noise goes away you need new bearings/IWE's
Had that problem with mine as well. The plastic vacuum hose had become very brittle and was broken on several places. Easy cheap fix if you know what you are looking for. I kinda think they're real. Even if not, Hoovie is a crazy enthusiast who's gotta be puttibg huge sums into Wizard's pocket annually. They're friends, but it's also W's business and they both respect that.
I do wonder about the pricing. Some of it seems really high even if that was the pricing in australia where we pay a lot more than similar automotive work.
@@bigwangmark 125$ each for a piece of shit rubber rubber bushing is a prod in the hiney
$400-$500 for transfer case swap is insane as well.
Hoovie ordered new rear doors, instead of hooking the handles back up, so he kind of deserves it!🤑🤓
It run good because it’s a Ford.
Drop the pan and change the transmission filter.
I would fix the diff mount before changing the transfer case.
Damn Hoovie you need to get a new mechanic the wizard is crazy expensive !!!!
He’s the Anti-Scotty Kilmer
Someone should tell him not to use 4x4 on dry pavement.
Its perfectly ok to do. Just no hard turns at full lock. Actually, all 4x4 vehicles have a requimended test to do every 3 months to make sure everything still functions. 2wd, Neutral, 4high and 4 low. Drive 50ft or so then put it back to 2wd mode.
Using the differential lock on dry pavement wouldn’t be the smartest idea though.
@@brandoncaldwell95 no is not okay to drive in 4x4 on pavement. You will bind everything up and you will hear it and feel it.
Or...OR we should tell him to only drive in 4wd on dry pavement for our own enjoyment and scientific research.
@@DDMSteveB And ruin the only hoopedy he may make real money on? 😉
PLEASE fix this hard-working beast!!!!
Your buddy the wizard is on the expensive side. I would shop around.
Think of the service he's getting though. i.e. acting, etc. for the UA-cam videos
$100 for 7 quarts of oil and a filter. $60 in labor to drain it and fill it while he has it on the rack. Yikes.
@@nevermind1534 true, I didn't think of it like that 👍
@darius wade quite the opposite
@@niccadoodles jeez you must buy cheap oil
Truck should say "HOARDER PATROL" - just say NO to too many cars.
Wizard's quad stapled notepad is the most i've laughed at this channel in a long time. Weeeezard is the best.
Next video: why I'm selling my jeep gladiator
That's SS717
Next video:
Everything wrong with my jeep gladiator
I KNOW you can afford another wireless mic for the Wizard and other guests. PLEASE.
That makes it less authentic and seem more scripted and more "talk show" esque... that's why he doesnt do it.
@Tyler >>> I keep telling you; Put A Mic On The Wizard ! ! ! or at least put one on the table in front of him.
OMG! That guy is screwing you. Bring it to Illinois and I can get all that work done for $1k
@Blair Aquilia well he said he gets the transfer case somewhere else.
After following you for so long, THIS is the purchase for your channel!!
Wait to do the tires and spare...... Cause once you start off-roading it you might want to upgrade
8:01 "This is in better condition than some of the hoopties you bring to me that have been maintained" lol
$400 for a spare tire? I thought this guy was your friend.
He is a douchebag hack
Keep in mind its a Ford raptor they dont come with shitty spares
wheel on average used is100 bucks and a New Tire can run well over 500 so yea 400 isn't bad
@@OG_Gamers_Live damn. That's alot
@@melesmeles2095 It seems more like you're the douchbag...
You should keep it. Best 4x4 on the market. Very cool truck with the history.
I love when hoovies voice....Cracks on purpose..so we can feel his pain and regreats on all these hoopty purchases....👌😁😢
He is charging ton of money.... Crazy labor and item prices.
Hoovie really needs to hire a full time mechanic that's good at more hooptie appropriate repairs than the wizard does. He's got the garage for it now and it would save him a fortune, not to mention time waiting on a guy with other clients.
Wizard is the Norm Abrahms (This Old House) of cars
Current Border Patrol Agent here. It is a spare tire mount.
Also, bar none- this is the best vehicle we have ever had. It has actually saved the government money over the alternative.
Congrats on the new rig. The bed mount is for the spare tire. It’s easy to access when you get a flat off road. Tool box usually will have a hydraulic jack and some limited tools to make things easier, faster.
Hoovie, that mount in the bed is for a remote thermal scope.
@@sherloidbai7064 I used to work in a scope truck with border patrol on the SW border mission. Granted this was before they got the Raptors. There was a screen inside the cab with a joystick to control the scope similar to the crows system on Humvees and mraps. You could be correct though but working on the border for 19 months, the mounting brackets looked similar to the one in the back of Hoovie's truck.
Hey Man, Love your videos and keep up the good work!
CAR WIZARD FARTED AT THE 3:17 MARK 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Eric M Had no idea until you mentioned it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Eric M - That fart should cut the bill by $500.00 💩
Warms my heart to see you guys in a Ford. Cool truck Hoovie !
I seriously love this truck more than any car you've ever bought. A true patriot truck. SO cool.
He’s trying to get an extra $375 out of you charging for the mounts when he needs to install the transfer case which should include the mounts.
mounts are for the front differential
Yes it’s been driven hard but it’s almost been well marinated under fleet use
Mmmmmm marinated raptor

Watching Hoovie squirm at the Wizard's desk like a kid in trouble in the Principle's office is a hoot!
Love this show, thank wizard for his service, I'm a retired 1sg (24 years). Hoooah
Wonder if the bed mount is a spare relocation for increased rear ground clearance.
1000 for differential mount replacement? Dude wtf?
tech1302 windshield here in Phoenix is about 120 installed new.
@@martymc92 Probably not OEM.
@@martymc92 if you're getting a $120 windshield it's a shitty one. That's a good price for a decent windshield
What about the $400 for a fucking spare? He’s a huge ripoff...
@@tf6437
No lie I'd probably rip him off too. Lmfao.
Good project. Gov't maintenance is such that the vehicle will be ready to do full duty until it is let go. No taper down except for maybe the last month or so.
OBTW - please mic the Wizard so we can hear his comments as you go along ...
It's HOOVIES garage. Not "lets just let the Wizard take over and call it The Wizard Show"
Pls do some Wizard only shows that would be rad.
Wizard has his own show. But when they are talking here I can't hear what the question or response id from Wizard - just Hoovies side. I'm sure I'm missing something ...
Hoovie is that kind of guy who's in his 20's or 30's but talks and acts like a grown & responsible 40's man 😎
$3500 is a rip off
Especially since the wizard gets free advertising for his youtube channel lmfao, he could fix the thing for the cost of the parts and still make a killing off fixing hoovie's cars.
Yea hes charging to much for labor
no skin killer for sure. He seems very slow-moving. And his hourly rate is 100 which is like stealership rate!
And how many of these commenters are mechanics, and therefore able to judge with real knowledge about local shop rate and book rate on the repairs listed?
Noah Mayer I think its just basic common sense that if you are not removing the engine or transmission, fluid replacements and some rubber mounts/bushings, it should not get to 3500. interestingly the Wizard never actually breaks things down. He rounds up!
Weird Sound
Oh that's just Doug DeMuro
Viking Raiders he was looking for quirks and features near the border
Lol 😂
Car Wizard on the phone: Do you have that in mahogany?
Hoovie: Walks in.
Car Wizard on phone: Yeah, I'll go with the ostrich, mahogany with gold.
The wizard really took advantage of hoovie this time
Your Leno's Garage spot was so good! Congratulations!
Many USA people seem to dislike their Ford motor company but perhaps they do not realize how Chevrolet, Dodge, Pontiac, Saturn, Ram, Corvette & Cadillac are all rare to see in Europe, Ford is your best brand vehicle by far, congratulations Henry for your exceedingly superior global scale automobiles.
4WD is not the same as AWD...4WD is not meant to be used on dry surfaces, it's made to take over when a wheel loses grip
in SNOW, SAND, MUD, or SNOW. If you use it in 4WD on dry roads, it will bang as they are describing.
We used to call the kind of pricing the wizard does, FU pricing.
its gotta be priced like that just for the video. As much business as Hoovie brings to that garage he should have a huge discount. Geez everytime he takes a car over he already has 4 or 5 already there getting work done or he'll drop one off and have another ready to drive home
