    I have had dusting issues with painting too. A large part of my problem was painting without adequate extraction. I also have a cardboard booth. The "overspray" remains volatile and floats around settling on the model like dust. A good extraction fan will do wonders for this. Initially, I found just painting outside with a breeze blowing across the porch was enough to prevent this "dust". Then when drying and curing thicker applications I cover with a plastic container. This video has given me some great ideas. I love this build. Awesome job.

      I think you are right, I definitely do need to improve my extraction. Ive also bought a new airbrush with 0.5mm needle and lowered the psi to 12psi and it has made a huge difference, little to no dusting anymore :) Glad you liked the build

      @@TheModelRoom My new booth project is to use an old tumble dryer, empty it of the drum and all electronics except the mains feed .... Need that for the extractor. This is big enough for the extractor to fit in leaving ample room even for some of the bigger models too. Access and lighting done to what suits you.

    Very nicec end result,even with the failure from the first body, you pulled through and finished it. We have to admire you for that. The most will stop and throw it in the bin or stack it up at the stack of shame. The airbrush is a bit complicated in the beginning,we all have been there.Untill you find your sweet spot and then it will be a walk in the park on a sunny sundayafternoon. Happy new year and all the best in 2023.

      Thanks for the nice comment. Choosing the colours or the 'spec' of the car is one of my favourite parts of the build!

    I’ve had masking tape lift my clear and decals on multiple: with lacquer clears, with 2Ks. I use only Tamiya tape and I’m a slow modeller so I can wait weeks after the clear coat before I mask window trim, and still I’ve had decals lift. I have recently been applying a liquid latex mask over the decal area before I mask and that has helped massively, but I still had a tiny corner of one decal lift on my F1 car. It’s incredibly frustrating.

    • @TheModelRoom
      @TheModelRoom  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your comment, this is interesting because I assumed the clear on top of the decals was enough to protect them, I'll continue to watch out for this in future! Liquid mask is a good idea 👍

    well done! amazing paint job 👍🏻 I'm building the same model at this moment, I have all the parts painted... except the black trims 🙄 I'm always afraid of this step since it can ruin everything in a minute so I'm postponing it as long as I can. I like that you skipped the standard paint scheme, I find it more appealing this way ✨.

    • @TheModelRoom

      Thank you, I reduced the amount of black trim to try and make it look a little less 80's haha. I too have the black trim anxiety, I think a brand new sharp blade is important and take your time. I still hand painted some areas of black on this model... 👍

    • @mykiksulife
      @mykiksulife 2 роки тому

      indeed, it looks more modern this way and the "porsche" decal on sideways is awsome! I also didn't applied the black decals on the rear fenders. I'm using new sharp blades everytime I'm painting black trims, but my heart rate is reading 186 😁 it's such a stressful moment for me. Mine is dark metalic blue with beige interior and I even glued real leather on the seats ☺️.

    Clear coat GX must be thin minimum 2,5-3 parts thinner to paint.

      @TheModelRoom  Рік тому

      Thanks! I used Tamiya 3000 grit sanding sponge, probably could have gone even finer now I think about it again. Thanks for watching 👍

    Great result 👍how long do you leave the clear coat to cure before handling the model and polishing. I find it stays soft for quite a while so leave mine for a few days messing with it to avoid finger prints

      I left the clear coat for 24 hours, Id have liked to leave it longer but after the set back on the body I was keen to get this one finished! Thanks for watching :)

    • @TheModelRoom

    • @TheModelRoom
      @TheModelRoom  Рік тому +1

      Yeah sure, I found the porsche logo on google and downloaded the image file. I then resized in photoshop to the correct size for the car. Next I printed the logo on transparent waterslide decal paper (available on amazon). You need a laser printer to print on waterslide paper. Thats all there is to it :D

    But did I see and understand correctly? Did you throw away a kit because you had that problem with decals? Even a plastic body can be completely stripped of paint! Simply soak in isopropyl alcohol, which won't damage plastic, or use Tamiya paint remover.

    • @TheModelRoom
      @TheModelRoom  Рік тому +1

      You did understand correctly! Unfortunately I made a stupid mistake by using a paint stripper that melted the plastic. Lesson learned 😅
