I know most teams have injuries but Collingwood are not only losing players every week they’ve lost most of their taller players which are harder to cover and still sit 4-1. It’s better to get injuries now than later. Have also won 13 of their last 14 at the mcg. They are definitely still the team to beat and I still felt that even last week.
You've got a good coaching group that knows how to handle it. Richmond won the flag in 17 with a similar makeup of no tall's, trust the coaching group they've done it before. As a Tigers man I'm jealous.
Yep Macrae, Leppa & Brendan Bolton. All A graders and all on the same page. Instrumental in the pies success. High risk, high reward. Trust in each other and play fearlessly.
Kingy is spot on re JHF. Kane has sparked all of this but will plead ignorance and deflect it to anybody but him. He spokes the fire more than anybody but will never take any blame.
When it clicks we're unstoppable, unfortunately we can't go for long enough. Once the kids get some more games in them we'll be fine, just in that frustrating period where it's inconsistent. If that's us over for now geez it's been a hell of a ride, was worth the years of pain but we need to stay relevant while getting ready to go again. IMO it doesn't help with Peggy serving her time and not knowing whether Benny Gale will stay, the prospect of losing your CEO in the middle of the year creates instability and that filters down.
I am amazed there has been no commentary on the umpire directing a clearly concussed player (Spargo) to stand on the mark for a free kick, where is the accountability in that fella's. Spargo should have been directed off the ground, not left there staring into space, needing instruction on how to stand on the mark.
If you want to stop the dangerous tackles the players need to be rewarded without the need of having to take them player to ground. That's on the afl not the Umpires who are adjudicating to the current interpretation of the rules. Remove prior opportunity and blow the whistle when caught. The players will start hitting the ball out of packs to open space where a team member can pick it up.
To be fair Brisbane have been either hot or cold, at their best they are absolutely a contender but so far they are just not consistent enough. the port and bulldogs losses looked like a bottom team and then their pies win they looked super dangerous. That being said it’s early days, if they can become more consistent they will be recognised as a contender for sure.
There is no reason whatsoever for any kind of personal attacks or threats toward JHF, however that being said North Melbourne fans have every right to boo him. Any club that invests their top pick into a player and he demands a trade after 1 season has every right to be upset and voice their displeasure, and it just seems that every other fan base is jumping on the wagon because they know it bothers him
Why don't the tigers select Jack Ross...clean disposal, good decision making and can rack up the poss...stop trying to turn him into wingman and let him play natural on-baller role. Richmond selection is crazy
Seeds are based on past performance. How they perform in 2023 is more telling and those teams are not at those levels. You lost to Port by a lot who didn’t even make the finals last season….
You’re right Gerard, the players have got to adjust to get the tackles correct. Start with Sparrow putting his arms out to protect himself instead of holding the ball to his chest and essentially head butting the ground. If you’re on an AFL footy field have some understanding of how to protect yourself. Sparrow had no self awareness.
I'm with Gerard and can't understand why so many non-north Melbourne people are upset at JHF. Round 1 was evidence enough as JHF was happy and pivotal in getting port over the line and North Melbourne's new draft pick got 30 touches and was beaming afternoon the game. That's as WIN, WIN as it gets, not every relationship works out so move on. Of courses playing his old team is a grudge match.
Murphy from Collingwood strikes hammer in the throat. You can clearly see it. Hammer then hits him back, Murphy drops his knees at the same time almost like he is trying to get a free kick and then falls to the ground. To be fair, a strike to the throat looks 100x worse. If hammer dropped his knees and fell to the ground, Murphy would get weeks off. But because Murphy fell to the ground, now it's the opposite. Basically, tough players are being called "play on" and if you're weak, the opposition gets weeks for it. There should be no violence at all but if a player strikes you, it's a natural reaction to protect yourself and strike back. You're not going to just stand there and be a punching bag. I'd like to see Hammer get off with a warning here. If he hit Murphy without Murphy striking first, then he deserved a 2-3 weeks for that hit. But not when Murphy hit first.
So kingy can give tigers a break because of Hardwick but cats he says we have not only at the cliffs but fell over it so he doesn’t must rank Scott at cats because he says where cooked can’t wait to he eats his words big time
@Tim Young geelong v pies is always a 50/50.. they should have beaten Carlton and goldcoast on paper but ahwell 2 wins on the trot can't complain atleast they are getting their mojo back now but it's a shame about stengle
The Gold Coast is notorious as a graveyard of clubs set up to play in national comps, including the Brisbane Bears. It's perceived as a holiday destination, and transient. I predict that the Suns will disappear within a couple of years. Should the AFL look to replace them? Not in my humble view. The NRL is too well entrenched in Queensland. Amen.
Sydney got 2 matchwinners which made them the most impressive win of the round in my book, Dangerfield should get six months for his eye hit on Gibney, Sorry Grerard It was a dog act
Having been at the game (and a Swans supporter) I thought the Richmond structure and team play was far better than Sydney for most of the night. We won through patches of individual brilliance but our structure was awful. I’ll take the points but it wasn’t what I’d call a good win. Based on the last three weeks we are not going far this year.
At the start of the year carlton woud have been licking their lips at playing st.kilda. how times have changed. Carlton need to pull their finger out and prove they arnt hollywood pretenders..
@@JCStorm76 yeah, valid point, but that 2nd half against the hawks was something special! I’m a Sydney man through and through, but can see the cats being real tough to topple again this season.. Last year in round 2, Sydney put them to the sword by nearly 100 and got beaten by 82 in the granny..

As a Richmond supporter, I don't know why as well. They play amazing here and there, and then the wheels fall off for 10 mins and it's over.

So what happens if Collingwood gives Essendon a 6 or 7 goal touch up.

Love how Brisbane absolutely annihilates Kangaroos and King reckons they aren't even a contender. Sour grapes much

I think it's a fair call. They've lost to Bulldogs and Port but win against Melbourne and Collingwood
Let me guess, Lions supporter? They’ve been quite inconsistent.
Beating up on the Kangaroos is hardly an achievement.
