THIS GAME WAS THE SHIT!!!! All the nostalgia just hit me in less than five seconds. I used to play this game when I was around five or six years old and it was just one of my favourite games of all time. I could spend days on end playing this game it was just so incredible.
I was 16 and had 10+k in the bank.i was a heavy equipment operator already in life,I had a honda 250 atc, honda civic, snowmobile, etc,,and lots of cash to buy games or any toys I wanted,,i remember waverace and Mario64 being title releases on first day so I got those, it was a Monday in Canada, but my mom got me a n64 on Sunday night, of course I was not at school Monday, good times,
Crazy how most people that watch this now, all get the same feeling. As soon as the intro started it immediately felt like I was in a time machine. I remember playing this game at my grandma's house on her 64. Just makes me miss her even more. She's the reason I even got into video games. R.I.P grandma.
this game was my life. i was looking over N64 games and saw the cover and my life flashed before my eyes. remembered the times me my friends, counsins, brother and sister, and even my mom, use to play each other. this game mario party and diddy kong racing. they would ruin friendships. good times. :') fuck im old
My dad introduced me to N64 when I was little. It was the first gaming console I ever played and is my all time favourite as well. It just brings back heaps of memories of ke spending the afternoon playing on it whenever I could. But.... Dad threw it away because he thought it was broken.. I have never been more heartbroken in my life.
Watching this brings back memories,i'd almost kind of hurts, back when games weren't all about graphics and all that,.. at the time this was released this was crazy amazing, i was just a little kid without a worry in the world when playing this
it really hurts to read crap like that by some generic internet kiddi. boooh, wuaaah, riiight, back then. when everything was better, wuuuah, and noone cared about graphics. jeesus, are you actually that dumb? when this was released everyone said "damn, that looks awesome". just because it looks like crap today doesn't mean it wasn't about graphics back then. that aside today way more actual work of art is created (which doesn't care about graphics) but you probably will never get that.
I'm probably older than you are you fucknut. I never said the graphics were bad. They were hugely impressive at the time. I'm just saying people valued gameplay way more than graphics then.
My dad got me an N64 back in '98 for my birthday. Had NHL, Super Mario 64, Wave Race and a couple other games. Playing this game, I felt like I could feel the waves and the jumps, the spray off of the jet ski felt refreshing just by looking at it. Sadly, my father passed away just less than a week later. So, I found Solace in playing the video games that was given to me by my late father. I still find solace in video games now that I'm in my 30's. So, I thank you for having this game on UA-cam for us to see again. It brings back good memories.
The year is 1996, you're in grade 4, the Spice Girls are on the radio nonstop, and you just got the N64 with Mario64 and Wave Race 64 with Zelda just around the corner; life was good. Life was verrrry good :')
oh my god soon as i started watching this i was instantly takin back to easier stress free days 14 years old , hangin out with bros skippin school hahahha man oh man those time are forever with me
This game is a delight to play. I've yet to play a water craft game more satisfying than this in feel. I can't even think of another game where I would tip the nose down on a crest and then snap it back on the plunge to get some massive air on the dunk. I mean it just feels so intuitive and rewarding. There's nothing like it out there, and that's wild to me.
God I played this game til my fingers bled when I was a kid. I literally just found a retro game shop that had everything you can think of. Got a n64 with hdmi conversion cable (for tvs that only have hdmi ports) and they had this game. Grabbed it as fast as I could. Gunna bring back memories
First N64 game I ever saw. I was completely blown away by this game and had to have one. 3 years later we got the Donkey Kong 64 console bundle. Best Christmas ever
I feel sad watching this I don't know why. Am 30 years old now, remember playing this as a kid for hours. I wish I can go back, I miss those days. Back in the days in my attic late 90s.
They put so much heart into these games. They worked so hard to make games as good as possible for little kids but now all we have are trash games with no heart. This game still looks amazing can't say the same for most games that were released just even 6 years ago..
Back when I first played this, I thought the graphics and music were awesome. I still really like them. The graphics for video games nowadays are cutting edge and the music is a full symphonic score (at least some games are; some indie games still have old style graphics and music). It's fun to see how video games keep getting more detailed.
In my memories the water grafics are still the greatest I ever saw in my entire life 😂😂😂. How flashed I was because of the graphics after switching from snes 😅
Aww i remember my big brothers introducing me to video games as a kid and this was one of the first games they ever played with me :') i miss the 90's and being a kid without worries.... now i finally understand Peter Pan :(
I owned a PSX and Jet Moto at the time, and I was envious of how the water colors and motion looked so smooth on Wave Racer... on Jet Moto, it's rough! It still looks great and makes me want to drink out of it
Had this game, MarioKart64, Body Harvest, Duke Nukem, Cruis'n USA, Clayfighter, Pilotwings64, Rush, and WCW/NWO Revenge. All loads of fun for their time. I miss those days.
Memories memories memories... I bought this with Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64 when the N64 first came out on the day it came out (1 March 1997 here in Australia). Played this so much, got so good at it, was blown away by the graphics and promise of the N64 at the time. Many fond memories of my teens!
Played this game while blowing off class at UF back in the early 90s. This game's graphics mesmerized me for hours on end. Class did not. Never finished college, by the way, but completed endless races in record time.
must have been 7-8 years old when this came out. still remember waiting for blockbuster to open so my mom could rent this for me & being blown away by how amazing this game was for its time. time flies and its starting to scare me...
On one hand, I REALLY want Nintendo to randomly go "Oh, here you go" and just hand us a new Wave Race game out of the blue one day. But on the other hand, because we live in a horrible nightmare realm where people will apparently turn to dust if they don't vomit their negative opinions all over the internet, if Nintendo does do that, then the fans of every other obscure and forgotten franchise waiting for a sequel will then shit all over Wave Race out of jealousy. "Durrrr, Nintendo really made a new Wave Race before a new F-Zero, lol." And I really do NOT want that.
I bought this game for my N64 when it first came out, and i'm pleased to say that after re-buying the game on wii's virtual console, the game is STILL incredibly fun to play. All we need now is a new sequel. Man cannot live on Blue Storm alone....
The need to give this game a proper sequel. The music, the water physics of this game were on point. The water ski games that came after this were just not the same
I remember thinking this was the most realistic looking water I had ever seen and nothing could ever get better.
To be fair, the water effects were pretty damn good, especially considering the resolution.
They were, and I think they still holds up to this day.
lol wow me to
Can you (or anybody) point out a game with better water physics?
Me too LOL
THIS GAME WAS THE SHIT!!!! All the nostalgia just hit me in less than five seconds. I used to play this game when I was around five or six years old and it was just one of my favourite games of all time. I could spend days on end playing this game it was just so incredible.
I was 18 already lol
Yes When Race was the coolest game I still have that game
😎✨

Still loved it though
I remember being blown away by the graphics
@wjveryzer7985 I still am. Along with everything else. Like the Spirit of the game, the handling & the tight soundtrack.
The water was insanely accurate for its time
Me too
I’d buy the soundtrack
I swear this game had better graphics in 2004, I can’t prove it, but I swear it did.
I was 15 in 96 and my Dad got me N64 with Wave race for Xmas, brings back good memories, Thanks Dad
Your dad is the best
My parents diddn't had much to spend back in the days, so my father worked overtime to buy us the NES, SNES and N64. Thanks dad.
@@FireFoxCosworth great father 🙏
Same age as me.
That's the year I was born

Back in the day when games politely ask you to select shit...
The “please” was an odd inclusion lol
lol 😂
Back when common courtesy and common sense where actually common, unlike these days, where they are nearly extinct
I swear that woman’s voice is relaxing lol “welcome to; sunset bay.”
ahahhahahahah im in tears
In my memory this game was virtual ocean reality. Crazy how time changes things.
Was thinking the same just now. In my memory the oceans looked so real. Now I see it... hard to believe.
@@zankiohex It still does
This video made me cry. All the memories. :)
Mr Maaark I swear I'm crying right now.
Shut yo sensitive ass up
Nvm im crying too
Back when life was so easy 😭
I too cried with the video. It remembered me to my father when is here with me.
This and Pilot Wings 64 were such great chillout games.
"Select your water craft, please"
“Select your course please”
_Select your water craft, please._
Nnng... That definitely was aiming below the belt, so smooth.
When I heard the intro I was like ;-; childhood feels
+B Sailor dude i nearly cried.
Gabriel Rivera I know right. I used to play this all the time until my skin on my finger used to rub off from the joystick.

ummmm..actually the main selling point of this game was the fucking graphics 😂😂😂
I'm probably older than you are you fucknut. I never said the graphics were bad. They were hugely impressive at the time. I'm just saying people valued gameplay way more than graphics then.
Brock Larkins quit trollin
man the hurt parts is so true kinda depressing actually lol
I remember running home from school to play this! Games back then were so good. Kids today have no idea how to appreciate games.
Greg lol it’s called Minecraft and LEGO games for my kids. But this game. 007 Zelda mariokart perfect dark. We did get the best games!!
I think they’re doing fine. BOTW, Super Mario Odyssey, Minecraft, etc., although I do hope Nintendo gets back to appreciating IPs like this one.
KendylTV think you are missing the point.
Ok boomer
@@UNKNOWN-ll4yt Piss off, zoomer!
This was so cutting edge back in the day
it's amazing how real I thought it was.
I'm in love with this soundtrack
The amount of hours I spent on this game when N64 came out. Will always remember the night level and how you could change how rough the water was.
When I had this game years ago I was mostly focusing on the water texture. I like how colorful and realistic the water looks.
I used to play this shit all the time lol throw back
loved when the announcer yell at the end of the race lol
BONZAIIIII!!!!
i miss this game so much wow :(
a true classic.

Just play it again... ;)
Soundchaser can't, my dad sold all my systems for 5$ each.

This game felt so good to play and was such a fun time. Nostalgia'd hard
I remember playing this game at the doctor's office while waiting to be seen as a kid lol Ah the Feels!
The intro song brings back so many great memories. I love this game!
i remember being a kid and going to electronics stores when the n64 came out and ALL the demo setups had wave race 64 running.. ahhh NOSTALGIA
Still looks, plays and feels nice to play. Great memories great music.. could really chill and play this.

love this game, still so fun nearly 20 years on
Born in 98 and watching this just took me back to my grandmas house as a 6 year old. Thanks so much for posting

Why was u in the attic instead of ur bedroom.
This game still seems new to me, i remember playing this first day i got the n64. It doesnt seem old at all and neither does the n64
One of my first N64 games...ah the nostalgia.
I came here for the Drake Lake music.
Chris Mason drake lake was my favorite!!!! I love how it starts foggy and ends clear
I agree. It sounds nice.

Anyone else getting hardcore memberberries from these audios?
This brings back so many memories....
this game has a nice soundtrack
literally every beat of the sound design of this game gives me nostalgia chills
I dont understand why Nintendo doesnt make a remake of this awesome game
Easy money I guess…
Imagine a remake with what Nintendo can pull off. That'd be so beautiful
that would probably ruin the game, remakes are shit. I think it's better to just create a whole new game
i mean you know the sequel exists right? way better in my opinion even
That music...Classic!

Wtf? I'm tearing up to the intro soundtrack of a 90's waterscooter racing game? Aaah the nostalgia hit me hard
omg, this feels so good to hear again.
This game brings back so many memories... mostly frustration this game was so damn hard!
Man is it wrong to tear up a little watching this and thinkin of all the fun times
This brings back so many memories from my childhood!
