Stellar breakdown. I'm finally getting into Payhip and I just love all the features! Kudos, Joanna.
Thanks, Dale, although I have moved to Shopify since this came out. ua-cam.com/video/a3XjtrTqqu8/v-deo.html
Thank you Jo! You’re always so genuinely helpful!
Joanna, you never cease to amaze me.
Thanks :) I have moved to Shopify since this episode - ua-cam.com/video/a3XjtrTqqu8/v-deo.html
Thanks so much for letting us know. I'll listen to the Shopify podcast shortly!
THANK YOU for sharing that payhip takes care of the various taxes. There is a remarkable lack of information on this topic and I'm so grateful you mentioned this!
Yes, if you want a service to do that, they can - but of course, they take a higher % - there are pros and cons with every service.
I now use Shopify.
Thank you! Takes the confusion out of how to use this combo of services. :)
Thanks so much, Joanna. This is very timely for me.
Glad to help :)
Another great video, Joanna!
It's so informative.
Thank you! I appreciate you.
Thanks for a most timely and informative tutorial - I am signed up now to both Bookfunnel and Payhip and venturing into selling a book + audiobook DIRECT on Payhip (after 10 years as an indie mainly on Amazon)...all thanks to your podcast and videos like this championing us as "authorpreneurs".
I hope it works out for you :)
This tutorial is so wonderful! Thank you, Joanna.
Thanks a lot! Wonderful tutorial!
You are amazing!

Thanks so much!! 😀
Hi Joanna! AWESOME presentation, and thank you for spending the time on this and am looking forward to taking my book over there in short order!
This is great, thank you! Super straightforward tutorial, and both platforms are so straightforward, it was easy to even set up some of the minor things you didn't mention (stuff you have to do when you're doing it for the first time). I set up my entire library of ebooks in less than a day. It's super simple! I'm looking forward to getting some audiobooks and artwork up next! I love this.
So glad it helped :)
Thanks so much for the helpful tutorial!
Very helpful video. Really takes the scary out of it!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this Joanna!
This was very helpful thank you 🙏 I'm terrible with technology 😊thank you
My goal is to self publish my book by July and I try not to jinx myself when stressing about the techy part. 😆😆
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much, this was great!!
Excellent, straightforward, clear tutorial. Thank you very much.
Do you buy your own domain before creating the Payhip site?
And does Payhip host the site?
Thanks again.
Payhip hosts the store, yes, but I have just moved to Shopify which includes paperback options for print on demand. I have an episode coming up on this soon.
Thanks for this, Joanna. As always, this tutorial is very helpful! Real quick: do you use Screenflow to create your tutorial videos?
Yes, I use Screenflow on Mac, but you can also use Camtasia on PC
Hi Joanna. Thank you for the video. It's incredibly helpful, except it's missing the part where you connect Bookfunnel to your website and test it. Yes, you showed the testing process, but you didn't show the interim steps. Thanks!
You don't connect either of them to your website. You just use links. You can link to your site as I do e.g. go to www.payhip.com/thecreativepenn and you can embed buttons which you can do from the payhip product dashboard.
You might be thinking of something like a plugin e.g. woocommerce, but this is not that :)
Nice!!!
this is fantastic! thank you for the tutorial! Is it possible to use those platforms in EU?
It should be!
Such an informative video, Joanna. Thank you. I had a quick question about the connection to mailing lists. I would think that since there is no official opt-in from a buyer, it wouldn't be appropriate to add a person to an automation. How do you use your Payhip customer emails, if that can be answered briefly? And while I was testing, I found when I set Payhip to ask for first and last name, it felt a little jarring, again since there's no opt-in. Thanks for your time!
You can link to an email service, but I don't for that reason :)
Hey thanks so much what did you use to record this video?
I use Screenflow on Mac, but there are lots of similar tools
Great tutorial! Thanks. A quick question: if I want to publish a nonfiction book as an ebook but NOT also as an audiobook, wouldn't Payhip by itself do everything I'd need? What additional advantage would I gain by using BookFunnel in combination with Payhip?
If you use Payhip on its own, the reader gets the files to download, but most readers don't know how to get the ebook onto their device.
So if you want to do support and help, then sure, you don't need Bookfunnel.
But I don't want to spend time helping readers get files onto their phones or Kindles or Kobos etc, so I use Bookfunnel as it delivers the ebook to every device or helps the reader do it. So basically, it saves time and hassle!
Hello! This video was extremely helpful. However, I am have issues uploading my audiobook. I was able to upload my ebook, but did not see an option within my dashboard to upload an audiobook. Does audiobook require a specific plan? Also I've tried sending several messages to bookfunnel, with no response over the last few days. I hope you can provide me with some insight. I appreciate all your help so far
Yes, you have to be on a specific level of plan to do audiobooks - did you email help@bookfunnel.com ? They are usually very quick to reply.
@@thecreativepenn I finally got in touch with them. Thanks for responding. One more question, do buyers have to bookfunnel app to be able to listen to the audiobook?
Is it true sales are so minimal for 99.9% so its not worth it?
It's a complete shift in business model. If you put direct sales first, then it can become your primary income stream. But if you drive all your traffic and email list and ads to Amazon or other stores, then you won't make any more direct and it's not worth it. So it's all up to how you run your business.
Hi Joanna, I know you have recommended Draft2Digital and Authors Direct. How do those services fit into your personal Bookfunnel/Payhip distribution/sales workflow?
I use D2D for distribution to Nook and library services. It is completely separate to Payhip & Bookfunnel which is selling direct to customers.
You can find out more in my free ebook - www.thecreativepenn.com/successfulselfpublishing/
@@thecreativepenn Thanks!
@@thecreativepenn I'll check it out!
If you were to publish via draft to digital can you also use these platforms?
Yes, you are 'wide' if you go via D2D
