The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

@@mrcodplay3r564 Yeah even though I like dramatic tenors (Mario Del Monaco, Lauritz Melchior, etc.), baritones (Titta Ruffo, Apollo Granforte, Bryn Terfel, etc.), and basses (Siepi, Zlatopolsky, Hines, etc.), I think the lyric tenor voice is extremely overrated. I just don't get why people enjoy the lyric tenor more than other voice types. I guess I understand why Pavarotti is considered the "greatest," but I disagree and many other lyric tenors get way too much praise.

I wonder how many Siepi performances were on the Sullivan show. I had never heard of any since my family did not get our TV until the mid 1950‘s & at that time I was already in bed when the show came on. Many thanks for all these videos from this man who later became one of my favorite singers. Bring ˋem on, please. The more the merrier as they saying goes.

What a beautiful song! Like a lot of opera singers, Ciepi made several appearances on the "Voice of Firestone" show, but much of their footage is unavailable, and it's so great you are making this rare footage available for us!

Mark how deep Siepi`s larynx is during his singing!

I was thinking the same thing. But his sound has none of the flaws of an artificially depressed larynx.

Larynx NEED to be there in opera singing. If you keep yor larynx high in opera your sound is weak and than you are not even any of voice type because your vocal color is not clear and don’t sound luxurious like Siepi or every other REAL opera singer :)

Na voce, na chitarra e 'o ppoco 'e luna
E che vuó' cchiù pe' fá na serenata?
    Pe' suspirá, d'ammore, chianu chiano
    Parole doce, pe' na 'nnammurata
"Te voglio bene, tantu tantu bene
Luntano 'a te nun pòzzo cchiù campá"
Na voce, na chitarra e 'o ppoco 'e luna
    E comm'è doce chesta serenata
'A vocca toja s'accosta cchiù vicina
    E tu t'astrigne a me cchiù appassiunata
    "Ammore
Nun pòzzo cchiù scurdarme 'e te"
