The three policies introduced were the Subsidiary Alliance, the policy of Paramountcy and the Doctrine of Lapse. 1) Subsidiary Alliance was introduced by Richard Wellesley in which the Indian rulers wouldn't be able to have an army. The british would provide an army whenever needed. However, this army would cost money which had to be paid every month. If not, the part of the territory would be annexed. Eg- Hyderabad(1799) and Awadh(1801) 2) Paramountcy was introduced by Lord Hasting during his time as Governer General (1813-1823). Kingdoms were to be annexed if anyone dared to fight or oppose the Company. 3) Doctrine of Lapse was introduced by Lord Dalhousie during his time of Governer General (1848-1856). He led the final wave of annexations. As the name suggests, the kingdom would "lapse" and be a part of the British EIC company's territory if the ruler of a kingdom didn't have a male heir or was being misgoverned. This included no crowning of adoptive heirs. Eg- Satara-1848; Sambalpur- 1850; Udaipur- 1852; Nagpur- 1853; Jhansi- 1854 and Awadh in 1856.
