Excel's Goal Seek tool is in the Data Tools Tab as a part of What-If Analysis in the Excel Ribbon.
Goal seek can be described as follows:
• It is the opposite of a formula: instead of finding the end result, you give it the end result and it gives you the input
• It eliminates the trial and error process
• It is like guessing on speed. It’s useful for situations where you want quick answers
• It is a simplified Solver
The main advantage of Goal seek is that you don’t have to change your Excel formulas or turn a formula field to an input field.

Thank you for your video! I have a question I want to apply goal seek for multiple outcomes. I have several lines with specific outcome - but Goal seek or solver only applies to one cell. How can I apply to multiple cells?

I will push a little bit here: is there a chance to use Goal Seek (or an equivalent function) for an entire column of a table? basically, to have the search done without being forced to use the procedure for each line of the column? Very well explained! Good that you differenciated between input and output cells. One tip, especially if the model is quite large: use in the formula bar: Trace Precedents, or Trace Dependents. You might check if the arrows "flow" from the Set Cell and Changing cell. I use the Goal Seek very often in my classes for caclulating Break Even Points. In that case you have to substract the two "y" values and this result is the set cell that should be 0.

I tried writing a macro using a button and a loop where goal seek would move line to line down a column to calculate margins it would only work for about 10 rows until it crashed. This was a few years ago never went back to work on it. However it initially worked

Have been using goal seek. It only works in this vertical layout with the numbers ordered a specific way. The data input appears to allow you to pull cells from anywhere on the sheet but won't return an answer unless it is in this super specific format. Highly frustrating and makes goal seek next to useless.
