Brother Paul, this is one of my favorite videos you ever made. Even though I don't agree with the nonsense from evolution guy. He has entertainment value.
Cecil Brumfield is just down the street. Business is going to pick up for him after this mango farm closes. I just hope Cecil doesn't plan on retiring soon.
@@igrowtomato3072 Wow! Sad to hear this! Maybe Cecil is moving to Thailand or somewhee similar. I guess Chris at Truly Tropical is next! I'm sure Julian is going to keep going for years to come.
Man, for 13 years I have missed Hatcher Farms 😢, and now they are closing. I wonder if they are still open this weekend. It is a beautiful looking mango and I have read from reviews that they taste incredible. That is wild that the old home of Mr. Zill is so close too, and I am pretty close to both. Just so sad I discovered that mangos are so wonderful too late to have enjoyed visiting this farm for a few seasons. Do you freeze your mangos Paul or just eat fruits in season? Was just wondering as I was blessed by my husbands co-worker with mangos off his tree (he does not know what kind it is as it came with the house) anyway it allowed me to freeze some too. From their flavor I believe they a Keitt, and I think they taste like such a treat frozen too.
Black Spot is most likely from ornamentals planted in new subdivisions. I had a hop grow in Washington State that I lost to Powder Mikdew from ornamentals grown in California which were used in new construction. Black Spot is not difficult- hygene, and a few Eagle sprays with hort oil.
I bought a Hatcher tree from them 15 years ago because of the general hype about the Hatcher. One skinny twig of a tree cost me $125. Then I went back and bought another Hatcher tree. After 5-6 years it made fruit and it turned to be a Van Dyke. I was pissed cause I paid so much and after all those years it wasn’t what I paid for. Called Hatcher and she said come and get a Hatcher. How nice was that!! Last year I pruned the original tree and it had no fruit but where I grafted on a Hatcher to a Carrie I got about 15 perfect big Hatchers. One in particular my wife really loved. Where does it fit in my 32 varieties? Right in the middle because it has that classic Haden flavor with no fiber and it’s big and very pretty. I never went up to get that replacement Hatcher Tree. If I convert that Van Dyke it will only be to a Lemon Zest.
Van Dyke is good. I know someone who removed his two Lemon Zest trees because they produced poorly. Do you have Lemon Zest trees already that produce ok?
Seth is a great guy, but all the evolution talk is pretty cringe. Real science is observable and consensus is not fact. Leave that stuff out. Otherwise real cool dude.
Great video Paul. I was there last week. I was hoping to talk to someone who knew about the family history. There is a property at Riverbend Park they call the old Hatcher orchard. There is a lot of mango trees at that park. There is one that had to be the biggest mango tree I've ever seen. I was curious if there was any relationship with the two hatchers?
Those trees are humongous. Growing trends have certainly changed for more manageable trees. It would be a pity to lose this reservoir of the Hatcher germ plasm. Zill used to offer it but now there are so many more varieties
😢 sad so sad. A whole edible space full of environmental goodies. Within a year it will be paved over with ugly apartment buildings.. Wish I had cash to travel there n get some trees 😢
I never knew of those mango is there any one selling that variety
Brother Paul, I must tell you. I had some amazing Pineapple Pleasure mangos this year from my tree. They are mind blowing good!

How do I get in contact with Seth? I'd love to try one before they sell for good
Their Facebook is selling mango now
*Are they selling the farm?*
Mango thieves really get my SO UPSET brother Paul!! GRRR!!!!

lol..he sold already too! This is his last year. Heard he is moving out of country. Not sure what is happening with his property.

I have a feeling the space is going to get preserved!
Leave the trees and call it Mango Estates.
Maybe Truly Tropical expands, it's not that far away.
I thought Mr. Zill mentioned on your video about acquiring another property I sure hope this was it. Unless he announced it already and I missed it.

I hate when I get a tree that is mislabeled! Hella sucks! 😡🤬

Are you talking about the Riverbend Park in Jupiter off of Indian Town?
@@KettiexD Yes
“A bad run in with it” ha. I wanna hear that story
It’s so beautiful fruit trees, makes me missing my own home town. I would love to grow them trees, but Iowa state is too cold for them trees.

Condos will kill the family farm.
Next to noisy I-95 and Brightline train tracks. This property is premium to a mango farmer 🥭, not a developer
What has become of this place.?
not sure
I like to get a hatcher tree. Adopt one.
Sorry to hear they are closing!😥
Not surprised at all..........from the Ozarks on the lakes
Why don’t you deal with the turpentine mango?
They have too much fiber
