  • The end numbers are in. I believe inrunners need some breakin time. Once the motors had a little breakin time they came up to what I hoped. The increase in static thrust nears 30%. I cant wait to fly it and see how it flys.

    So fluid flow increases to cube root of hp. Another words to get twice as much flow (witch equates relatively to thrust) you need four times more hp.
    The unfortunate truth of diminishing returns when power is limited.
    Great video though and i hope it made the difference you were looking for

    Just found your channel a couple of days ago and really like what I'm seeing. Watched the 2 on repairing the Bae Hawk and now these two. I was surprised at the difference in the end. I've got the Freewing 90mm F-16 that's also a little underpowered. I ordered the upgraded motor on it but haven't installed it yet. The leads were not as long as the original one to reach the ESC so I need to make a short connecter for the 3 wires. You have me inspired to get mine done now. :) I hope there's a video showing how the F-14 flies now with the upgraded motors. Static numbers are great but would love to see the actual results.

    My first EDF was a Futura V2. Without going into along winded story, it didn't work out. Performance was good but there were definitely some quality issues that gave me headaches and ultimately, it dove itself into the ground after a dozen flights or so. The only thing that survived was the fan unit. I almost gave up on EDF's and foamy's in general but I found the Freewing Avanti S available without the propulsion system. That brought the coast of the airplane down and I already had the FMS fan system sitting on the shelf so what the heck. The Avanti S with the FMS 2100kv inrunner flies like a bat out of he**. It's proven to be far superior to what the Futura V2 was and I'm very happy with it. About the only difference between the Futura and the Avanti is the flaps. The Futura has full flaps and the Avanti S uses split flaps. I much prefer the full flap setup but given everything else, it's worth the trade off

    Thanks for doing this test... I was thinking of doing the same with either the 2100 KV or the 2000 KV FMS motor for my Tomcat. I was a skeptical at first as to whether it's worth the extra effort and money to do it but now I'm convinced. Love the videos & just subscribed. Cheers.

      @@M4rkmcc21 I installed the 2100s at the time because the 2000 had not been released. That said, I've done a lot of testing with the 2000kv on 6s and 7s and I can tell you without any hesitation it's a far superior motor. Hands down get the 2000 over the 2100. This is a link to all the mods and upgrades that I did to my MiG-29...

    Most interesting video on the Tomcat I've seen in a very long time where motor upgrades are concerned. Thank you so much for taking the time to experiment and post your findings. HUGE thumbs up my friend!! Has she flown since this video and can Porky now get into the air with armament and execute aerobatics with no issues?

    I forgot to ask this... Are the batteries new and not broken in here? If not that could be why there are some increases

    • @JustPlaneCrazy
      @JustPlaneCrazy  3 роки тому

      Batteries were seasoned. Motors were only run for the first time in that first run. The longer they ran the better all readings got. Proves motor breakin. I have also found roaring top packs suck and have an awful high IR.

    Great Stuff !!! The very best on F14 mods. I had a feeling that this airplane stock needed more power. Just what I was looking for! Can you show the flight results? And how do you think of the thrust the freewing 1857kv would compare? Thanks !!!

    • @JustPlaneCrazy
      @JustPlaneCrazy  4 роки тому

      The freewing is slightly less in comparisons when myself and other friend did testing. From flying this I would always choose the fms 2100

    Can u show how much and where did u remove foam to fit fans pls

    • @JustPlaneCrazy
      @JustPlaneCrazy  3 роки тому

      Because the covers are sealed it’s too much to take them back apart. The fans fit down in the fuse one way but not the other with almost no modification. All the foam I removed was in the little covers. You have to also remove the cardboard belly pan to get to the ESC’s and run the wiring

    Just bought porky, and very excited to fly her. I am going to install the XFLY-MODEL 80mm 12 Blades EDF Ducted Fan with 6S Brushless Inrunner 3280-KV2200 units. From what I understand should be comparable to the V2 plats, I hope. Do you know of anyone who is running the X flies? thank you for your video. Very informative. By the way where did you plug in the Ubec with the Sbec in Parallel? Thank you.😁🙂😊

    • @JustPlaneCrazy
      @JustPlaneCrazy  2 роки тому +1

      I would make sure the output voltage of the sbec is the same as the Ubec on the XFLY. To be honest make sure whatever esc u go with handles the XFLY fans. I have seen it toast a few. The Ubec can go into any open channel or bind port

      @@JustPlaneCrazy agreed 👍. That's why I went with the Tempest 120amp 2-8S 5.5V. They said to pull one of the leads from one of the connectors so as to not allow the esc's to fight each other on voltage.

    • @JustPlaneCrazy

      More or less. Very little effort required. Small amount of foam trimming on the covers. Replace the ESC’s. More power equals more amps. They are more efficient so you can better throttle control and gain more flight time
