    when using studio mic, can microfreak record a normal sounding voice, and then add reverb or other effects to it using microfreak?

    • @AntonAnru
      @AntonAnru  8 місяців тому

      Microfreak doesn't have reverb or any effects

    it's seems this vocorder renders speech unintelligable. kind of useless if you can't understand what's being said

    • @AntonAnru

      Maybe it depends on mic and performance. Anyway, besides the voice it can be used with different sources and give interesting results

    Thanks a lot for this info... I tried some of my headsets which actually had TRRS so I thought they work... but I could not hear something... till I watched your video and saw you can use gain on the microphone ... and that worked ! Thanks a lot !

    AKG earbuds included with Samsung phone work. I just had to enable mic detection and increase mic gain.

    10:42 have you even tried using the gate options? If you don't want noise to start being raised automatically, you have to actually set your gate properly so it doesn't allow any sound through in the first place below a certain volume.

    • @AntonAnru
      @AntonAnru  3 роки тому

      I didn't use gate as I am in a quite silent place, so there almost nothing to gate. But your idea is nice, I'll try it the way you suggest

    You can't use the USB connection for the vocoder input? Like I have inputs already in my mixer that is used in my DAW and can't I route them to a digital input channel for the vocoder? Do you really NEED to use the trrs jack on the synth itself?

    • @AntonAnru
      @AntonAnru  3 роки тому

      Usb here is only for midi/sync and connection to their app/firmware update. It doesn't send digital audio and microfreak doesn't have digital in. So, yes, trrs is the only way

      @@AntonAnru Yeah I read about it in the meantime. I hate that most usb connected synths still don't support audio over USB when you can EASILY have many channels at high fidelity.
      The only synth I have that does a good job is the Roland AIRA stuff. Like my TR-8 has 16 sound channels over USB even without having to use it as your daw interface. It adds so much to workflow when you can just hook the usb up and record separate channels for each output (not as important for this mono, no-effects synth but what bothers me more is the vocoder issue).
      This synth is already doing better than most by having proper usb midi CC functionality.
      I appreciate the free vocoder upgrade, but if I have to plug a mic into the synth while I have all my good mics hooked up to my mixing board/audio interface, I'm never going to use it; why wouldn't I just use a Vocoder VST plugin from some other company and then if I really want to I can assign the midi controls to that plugin, and use my regular studio mics inputs (I did find out that there's no pre-amp for the mic input at all in the MicroFreak which makes it even more useless to use the vocoder function.
      So basically nothing changes. They add a new synth engine that's cool but completely useless atm IMO.
      I guess I might still play around with it if I use my aux send to put yet another cable over my floor, and will have to use a TRS -TRRS mini converter to then plug the aux from my preamped mic into to microbrute.
      it's so stupid and unnecessary. Artura creates crazy software plugins first and foremost; but they can't create a plugin to use my DAW interface with their input over USB?

    nice video but when my trrs splitter is plugged in and try to set vcoder with the Type poti, microfreak says only: no mic is plugged in -,-

    • @AntonAnru
      @AntonAnru  2 роки тому

      Maybe something wrong with the splitter?

    • @SoccerClassics
      @SoccerClassics 2 роки тому +2

      @@AntonAnru It seems that there are two different standards for trrs jacks. CTIA and OMPT and the Microfreak uses the CTIA jack (got the information from reddit). In my country there a ompt most common. Ive only found one ctia splitter on amazon and will find it out on monday.

    • @AntonAnru

      I'm not sure what you mean by "destroyed". Anyway, it can do a regular vocoder job. You may search for vocoder presets walkthrough to understand its potential

    Will the 1/4” output of the Microfreak not send the vocoder mic input? Is that why you need to use the headphone output to send to your interface? I’m trying to understand why you can’t connect the microphone, then output the MF to your interface and run your studio headphones from the interface?

    • @AntonAnru
      @AntonAnru  2 роки тому

      Sorry, I'm not sure I understand the question. Could you rephrase or add details?

    • @johnsuggs3952
      @johnsuggs3952 2 роки тому

      I wouldn't try that.
      the output from the microfreak is line level or around 1 volt. Line level signal is far hotter or higher in voltage than microphone level signal. The microphone input on the microfreak more than likely has some kind of amplifier on the circuit. If you take the signal from the output which is already way higher than what normally goes into a mic input and run it to the mic input on the microfreak, you run the risk of over loading the circuit as it will take the already too high signal and then boost it as if it were a mic signal.
      So no don't do that.
