Mr. Yang is not recognized as a legitimate martial artist among Chinese martial arts societies in Taiwan, China and southeast Asia regardless his popularity in western countries where people know little about Chinese martial arts and its history. The lineage of his Tai Chi teachers is questionable. Kao, Tao and Yue, Huanzhi are not listed on the board of Yang family tree. There is little information about Yue, Huanzhi. Most Chinese articles say that Yue is a disciple of Dong, Yingjie. No records show that Yue is an indoor disciple of Yang, Chen-Fu. That is different from what stated on YMAA board.
Mr. Yang claimed on his YMAA board that he learned Taijiquan from Li Mao-Ching. That is incorrect. Li is a master in northern style Shaolin, not in Taijiquan. I personally learned Shaolin from Li years ago while was also learning Tai Chi at the same time. One student asked Li what are the differences between Shaolin and Tai Chi. Li said that if you play Shaolin slowly it becomes Tai Chi. What??? Hello!!! In my trained eyes, Mr. Yang's martial art is created by mixing from different styles with the root in White Crane.
I learned Tai Chi from one of Cheng Man-Ching's indoor disciples but never became an official disciple of him. I can claim that I'm the X generation of Cheng but my name is never listed on the board of Cheng family tree. Got it?
Mr. Yang's Tai Chi has too many flaws like beginners per my trained eyes. He added too many unnecessary movements to confuse people. Never saw him demonstrating Taiji Jin anywhere. The conclusion is that Mr. Yang created his own Tai Chi form based on White Crane. Is it all a commercial tinge lie?

A great man, so humble and kind and a wonderful instructor. So glad I've been able to work with him and probably learn barely 1% of what he's learned

I m 34 year old one year ago I started to train in YMAA School in Poland . When i watched this film I wanted to punch my self in the nose why I did not start to learn Kung Fu when I was young and when I loved to watch kung fu/ninja movies. I wanted to punch my self second time when I narrator said that retreat center was open for everybody for strict isolated training and I was not there. I m tottaly begginer but I already know that I will train TaiChi the rest of live. Thank you all YMAA people.

20 years ago i bought a copy of muscle tendon changing brain marrow washing, and i learnt reverse breathing from it. i practised this neither skilfully nor diligently over this time. despite this low level of practice, i strongly believe it enhanced my health especially my immune system and ability to heal injuries body and mind. thank you Dr Yang.

Dr. Yang is a true inspiration and fount of knowledge and an exemplary manifestation of the balance of yin and yang. In person and through his publications, he has done his best to share his deep knowledge with others so as to ensure that the spirit, knowledge, and practise of Chigong and Chinese martial arts are passed on to future generations. In years to come, Dr. Yang will be recognized as one of the great pillars and unique figures of Chinese martial arts and his influence will continue to be felt for the rest of this century and beyond. No other individual has accomplished as much or been as instrumental as Dr. Yang has in documenting and teaching the Chinese martial arts during this period of transition between the 20th and the 21st century.

Wow ! What an Amazing Gentleman ! I'm not even talking about his Shaolin studies & Kung-Fu, thiis gentleman was a very intelligent young man ! Hence the moniker Doctor, the P.H. D. & multiples College's attended.... Plus working under & w/ the Shaolin Monk's & their studies. Finally going onto master Idk how many different disciplines.. That word describes this man, Discipline !
I know it's used to describe the different types of studies in Martial Arts but I'm just saying that he was a very disciplined young man from the get go & it paid off for him.... I'm not an individual who's studies Martial Arts or has even taken any type of lessons in the Arts so forgive me if I'm not familiar w/ the lingo... I came here via watching the guy who teaches the R.A.T. assault techniques. (sorry if that's an incorrect discription) I've always been interested in these practices. Thank you for your time & sharing you're video's of work....
** I must say, it's a Helluva thing to watch...

Yes, after college he worked at Texas Instruments, making lasers and electronics, until he "jumped out of the matrix." Thanks for the comment.

This reminds me of a phrase that says "From Sorrow come Greatness."
Dr Yang Jwing-Ming is Truly Amazing. He change the course of Kung Fu in America & The World ! While others taught a little & kept their kung fu to themselves, Dr. Yang Jwing-Ming taught completely. Buy a DVD from one teacher & maybe you'll get something but buy 1 dvd from Dr Yang Jwing-Ming's & you'll get 6 HOURS of Treasure ! He holds Nothing back ! He showed the World Chin Na before anybody even knew the word Chin Na. When he came every other teacher had to Step Up or Stop Teaching. He is BRILLIANT !!!! God Bless Him.

I think dr yang is great but recently i have been disapointed in the morality of certain staff members of the ymaa org. I was given some information and when i called it out i was given a different explanation for the issue i was having. Honesty is part of their mantra and should be a quality that all martial artists are able to aspire to.... i guess business for some is greater than honesty..this is very sad and has changed my perception of YMAA and i no longer buy from or promote ymaa i still believe that Dr yang is a great man and martial artist 🙏
