Thank you the point one explained was just what I was wondering about with the front graph.i did not know you could use the heading and the internal GPS thanks again.
Great seminar. I had many issues and now I know why. Did everything you recommended and will be testing it tomorrow. Thanks for such a great!!! seminar!!!
When you mark one thing on your back transducer and it shares to your bow unit isn’t it going to be a difference of 18 to 21 foot how ever long your boat is? Since you are marking on back point 1 but your front unit is on its own gps?

You need the minn Kota antenna that came with it for the advanced features like jog and following for the heading sensor. The point 1 will not work with minn kota
Hi Paul..I have a guestion... I'm mounting a point one on my new sea pro center console bay boat.. the power to the nema network only activates when the switch is on so when the key is off, Iloses gps signal from the point one.. do I need to set up a separate power source on an aux switch?
Hi Paul...I made the change on my power source and now the point 1 is working good at the console without the key switch on...my issue is the bow unit,..elite fs9 doesn't want to recognize the point 1...says invalid.... I have the bow unit connected to the hds console unit only with Ethernet cable...does it also need to have a nema cable at the bow.. I don't have a trolling motor transducer....it's a bay boat...saltwater TM....just want to hit way points on the lake without map spinning around... thanks...
I hope you still read these comments I could use the help. I have an elite12 ti2 at dash and bow with a point one at the rear. I set the rear graph how you explained. The front graph however I am not seeing heading, roll, pitch under vessel. It only gives me MMSI, icon filters, course extensions, and dangerous vessels. Hopefully you can help
Hi Paul, I hope you are all good. I have a problem with my setup and was wondering if there's a solution for it. I have a basic setup with just HDS LIve 9 and Point 1 linked up via NMEA 2000. Everything works as expected, I can see both my direction path and my heading path separately shown on the map and working great. However, I have a very annoying issue. Whenever I go "in reverse" or let the drift carry me down the river, if I mark something on my side view, the waypoint is being created on the opposite (wrong) side of the boat. It seems that the fact that I have a Point 1 antenna, so the system should know where I'm facing at, doesn't affect the waypoint creation process and that the system "thinks" I'm heading down the river, front facing. Which is untrue. Is this expected - and more importatly, is there a fix for this? Many thanks
@@PaulGettysFishing Thanks a lot for getting back to me. Allow me to share more information. Yes, all good there. I can see the Point 1 device listed as expected. I can also see the heading line in red and my direction/course line in blue (or the opposite, I cannot recall which colour is which) on my map. If I start going forward these lines will start overlapping at one point. If I turn my engine off and let the drift/current carry me downstream, I will have the heading line pointing upstream, and the course line pointing downstream - so the opposite directions, which is good and expected. I also calibrated Point 1 properly (went into circles etc), and it's showing the direction I'm heading at really well. Everything works great - until I start going backwards. Then, my heading direction does not seem to affect the waypoint creation - as if only the course one has some role in it. It seems that the system thinks I'm heading downstream front-faced without "taking heading into consideration". To be honest, this was a big surprise and one would expect this to be "taken into consideration" during waypoint creation. This might be a faulty solution by Lowrence - but I'd like to know if there's a fix for it,
@riverhook ok so let's make sure you are using your point 1 for your gps location, pages, settings networks, data sources, gps, make sure it has point 1 checked. After that, take in consideration the epe which is Error positioning estimate(civilian satellite) which with a point 1 will still be 11 to 15 foot off of where you mark and it will not get closer. Without a point 1 that can double. To check epe, pages ,settings, system, satellite up top will be your reading
@@PaulGettysFishing Hi Paul, Thanks - yup, I use Point 1 for my location. I can confirm that this is set too. It works pretty nice and accurate (I know because I come back and I easily sit on top of a tree/log and can easily find it with a jig head). This still doesn't resolve my issue with going backwards and waypoint creation during this direction. Does this work for you normally as expected?
I have Point -1 to work with Motorguide Xi5 and Elite Ti 7 with its transducer and Point 1 puck on the back. That is all that is on the network. Would you tell me the setting under GPS and Vessel or would I need to do soft reset to go back to original settings. . I think I made a mistake when I made the settings for two fishfinders on the network. There might be more 70 year old week enders that use only 1 fishfinder. Thanks
if the point 1 is on the rear, on the console graph , go to pages settings, network, data sources, GPS, all data, on the right blue arrow touch it change the scope to local then choose the point 1 on the left, the heading should be on point 1 under vessel, on the front go to the same area and choose this device for the GPS source and heading should be point 1
@@PaulGettysFishing Thanks very much for replying. Point 1 is on the back, I do not have a console graph on the network. My elite ti is on the front connected to the transducer on the back and is the only fishfinder on nema network. Current settings GPS-All Data Global-Auto Point 1. For Vessel - Heading and all other items under Vessel has Point -1. Again, I thank you very much.
I had 2 point ones installed on my boat. One is named point 1 6304 and the other is point 1 6311. How do I know which is the transom and which is the bow? The installer didn't differentiate them.
Unplug one , go to device list, name front or rear plug the other up and name the opposite, make sure u change the instance on one of them also, one needs to be 000 and other 001
Great Video. Question, what if you have two Point-1 pucks but you only see the bow one for heading selection but see both the bow and the stern puck for GPS?
I know this video is old but I have a question. I know you said front units, under vessel make heading global. Should that be same for console units or should they be local? I hope you get this and again thanks for all the great info.
On another question (provided it is appropriate for me to expect a gratis answer), .... I am mostly satisfied with the placement and image from the 3DSS transducer on a 2016 Ranger FS620. All 3 Lowrance MFDs use the 3D module as the hub for ethernet and everything else (Point-1, Link-8, along with Lowrances [Gen3-9, Gen3-12, Carbon-12] and Motorguide Xi5 via the gateway) are connected to the NEMA 2000 network and function just fine, >> except for the vertical lines of interference that appear only on the Downscan screen (not the Sidescan - as far as I can tell with my tired eyes), when the Xi5 is engaged via the peddle or set via auto pilot with the remote or with the on-screen interface. Take the propeller out of gear and the lines fade instantly. Q? - Any suggestions you can share? Ferrite core? Other? Thought I would ask, but if this goes beyond the scope of public demain, I understand. jws

just checking, even though a wypt etc. has been deleted (but not purged) from the unit, it still is NOT recoverable?
no sir
That was my observation, just checking because the need to purge suggests the items are stored in a recycle bin. (Not a bad idea :)
So you mean "NO" sir, you can NOT recover them and not "no" to my comment ...it still is not recoverable... suggesting I am wrong?

in where the terminator was at the end of Tee
George Holdridge runs into 1 side of t the bottom goes to unit other side is terminated
Paul, how do you set up Ethernet on 3 HDS units? Thanks in advance
What units do u have?
HDs live 2-7s and a 9
U can connect 2 together, but to connect the 3 since the 7's only have 1 network port, u would need a network expansion port
With the network expansion port do they all go thru it or just the third unit? Do the hook to the expansion port individually? Thank you!
do you do sit up in Canada? just starting to watch and i am hooked even at work you are on. you are great . so much information.
