I made a pecan pie last weekend and the pie never set . I made it at 10 am , and by 5 pm it was still runny .... How long does it take to set ? Do I put in the fridge overnight?
This is the easiest recipe that I have used for years, on the back of a can of libby's 100% pure pumpkin, 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger,1/4 tsp. ground cloves, 2 large eggs room temp.,1 can (15 oz.) Libby's 100% pure pumpkin, 1 can (12 fl. oz.) carnation evaported milk, i unbaked 9-inch deep dish pie shell, mix sugar ,salt, cinnamon, ginger and cloves in small bowl, beat eggs in large bowl ,stir in pumpkin and sugar spice mixture, gradually stir in evaported milk, pour into pie shell, bake in preheated 425 oven for 15 minutes, reduce temp. to 350 bake 40-50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean, cool on wire rack for 2 hours. serve.

You have to let it cool and set completely before cutting, so that it sets up good.

I let it set overnight, it takes a good 24 hours for it to set firm. Make sure to keep in fridge.

I did not get, because they need to cool completely so the sauce will set up, it is not as deep looking as karo pie recipes, and not as sweet.

I like the idea of not using corn syrup.
It still makes the syrup like on it's own, not as sweet as with corn syrup.
