You speak with wisdom--you know the woods; and common sense--there are dangers that are not of Nature but Man, and your commitment to increased awareness is the kind of leadership in outdoors education we need right now. So, thank you for that!
Totally agree, We live in a world where there are a lot of people with sinister motives! If you look around at the homeless, those who have become destitute, the addicts without family contacts- how easy prey they could become. No-one is going to look for them after they're gone. It could even be someone travelling alone or a person living a solitary existence. Too much time will pass before others realize they are missing and then the trail becomes cold. Sometimes we need to look at the world from a dark perspective in order to learn how to protect ourselves.
G'day Tim, Unfortunately I have to agree with you here, it's very sad and goes against every fibre of my being to think on such level that we absolutely do exist in such a place where individuals can be that far from what's good and humane yet hide amongst us seemingly a regular Joe . And like you said pray on the less fortunate... Happy Days and God Bless 😉
@@RatandCat But...the alternative is you leave yourself and your children who have to be made aware very vulnerable otherwise. I am quite new too your channel and really enjoying it! Happy Days and God Bless 😉
David Paulides of Missing 411 does not attribute the cases of people missing from the wilderness to serial killers. Think that there are that many killers lurking in the woods waiting to kill people? You better think again, buddy..
I ve recently gotten into hiking, camping (backpacking soon) and other outdoor activities. I have been listening to David P and Rusty and other people for about 3 years now. You are the first one who talks about criminals in the woods, although that's been one of my theories for the disappearances of those who have vanished. When dealing with the wilderness after all i have heard it is better to do it with other people and NEVER ALONE. I have been a risk reducer my entire life and has served me well. if no one can go with me i simply wont go and do something different. hope they catch whomever or whatever is hurting people out there and keep up the good work :)
Chevy Van Travel, Your last sentence is a common thought of those who are not armed, thinking authorities will take care of them. Police and other authorities can not protect you. They show up after the crime/s have been committed to document and on the rare occasion bring the perps to justice. Unfortunately not going alone in the woods is not enough now days. If there are more criminals bent on evil not being alone is not going to stop them if they are armed & think that due to the remoteness that they can do what ever they want and not get caught! Reminds me of the early days in America when there was far less lawmen and a lot more wilderness territory to cover. You HAD to be prepared and take care of yourself. To a much lesser degree that still holds true though in wilderness areas today!
Yes but be prepared to protect yourself. Hope the authorities find the leads and follow and convict and sentence but the cops aren’t necessarily going to help you when you need it. You gotta be safe first!
am a fellow risk reducer too, I like that It has helped me a lot too, and good situation awareness. If in doubt, I just don't go, and that is ok. Wolves avoid risky situations too
Great works! Rusty West brought me to your channel. Keep up the great work. It's a dark subject you sometimes cover but you do it with grace and solidarity.
What serial killers would leave the bodies behind in pristine condition, (no clear cause of death) to be found in places already searched? This turns up again and again.
What about all the others they never find or the ones we dont even know are missing out there? I.E. the ones that never told anyone where they are going.
Hi! I just discovered your channel! Have you ever researched tree bends and stick structures? As you are walking in your videos, I cannot help but notice how "Squatchy" some of your backgrounds are! Especially in the one where you talk about being aware of your surroundings because of serial killers, etc. I saw so many stick structures!
Thank you ! I'm glad to see a video from you that shows that you are doing well ! I'm doing well here in Kansas ! Take care , stay safe and healthy out there !
I am a former police officer from another state living in CO now. To me, human predators are the most underestimated threat to hikers, campers, in reality, anyone who has the misfortune to be in the same place at the same time as one of these malevolent people. It's really concerning.
Thank you for sharing that. Yeah, in the small town where I live now, several people have just disappeared, with a two lake find dead, and other cases that may be linked. There's obviously a serial killer on the loose, but there's no public statement about it and no effort to warn the community by local law enforcement. Beyond local, there is little national coordinated effort in most cases. Unbelievable.
i commend you for your work and i think it is very much needed. I had never heard of people who keep searching for others. That is very kind of you. I guess i am just struck that so many people need looked for. Its really sad. Also, I am very grateful for any tips to stay safe. Thank you!
I know a great number of the 411 missing cases and i have concluded that something is really wrong.! The overall numbers are staggering and a lot of those cases make no sense at all.! My advise is to never go alone, keep in sight of one another, allways take a weapon and spray with you, and carry a device on your body so that you can be tracked, and a phone for emergencies. Stay safe brough.
That's about as prepared as one can be Pannekoek! My self, I have a conceal carry permit that I have renewed for the last decade. I don't always carry, probably about 80% of the time though. For sure I carry when visiting Portland, Ore. (which I try to stay away from) There are sooooo many wackos there but it's not just Portland but a lot of big cities. Seems like liberal havens tend to also be populated with the dregs of society. Those who can get away with all kinds of crap due to getting lost in the crowd and snowflake authorities either not charging them with crimes or it's the old revolving door! Those same anti-gun authorities want to make it 4 times as hard for me to continue to carry by upping the fee for conceal carry x4! Oregon legislature this session is trying to make felons out of ALL gun owners! I'm about at the end of my patience with anti-gunners! OK, sorry for the tangent but you get my meaning, I feel much safer in the woods than a lot of big cities, especially at night! I used to bow hunt Oregon woods every year alone, still hunting, and complying with regulations that say you cannot carry a gun when bow hunting. I have had some instances when I didn't know if I was going to become part of the food chain but I'm still kickin! Being a very stealthy hunter means I have walked up on mostly bear but twice with cougars as well. Thankfully they were more scared of me as a predator because I acted like one, I guess (as one of the silent killers, of strickly game animals) At any rate they always ran so at least that's my theory. Sneaking up on such animals combined with standing my ground and not running probably helped but it goes without saying I never would have done that in Grizzly country! Also, those days of hunting alone are probably over for me being in my mid-seventies.
@@willyam9735 - Lol Oregon yeah, It's weird it's such a beautiful place like that beach that has those rock formations (forgive me i forget the name) yet that whole state is full of odd people for some reason. Really it's the entirety of the Pacific Northwest. Sea-Tac? No F'N thanks!
@@willyam9735 you can pack a gun while bowhunting. it's your right to keep and bear arms. you just can't use it to bag your animal. but you can carry. I do.
Good points Nikia. What a dark topic. The idea of killers lurking in the forest who might target hikers and campers is a staple of the horror movie genre - but there have been real examples, think Anders Brevik and the holiday camp, Ivan Milat and the 'Backpacker Murders'. I guess 99% of hikers deliberately choose not to think about such a possibility. Is the solution to carry a gun? that idea is no use if you're in Australia where I live, as carrying a gun here is illegal for most people -- and in the USA, should a cunning attacker leap out of hiding and press a (legal) gun to your neck, the (legal) gun in your pocket or bag would be of no help anyway. Re suicides in the wilderness: Not so long ago in Australia a woman in her fifties went missing unexpectedly during the day from her country town, sparking a wide search of the surrounding bushland. She was a local, a keen hiker, who lived with her husband and 2 teenage children, and had adult children living in the district. No-one could account for her disappearance, and foul play by persons(s) unknown was suspected. All the waterways were dragged, but searchers found nothing. It was 6 months later that her remains were discovered, by accident, in a cave not far from town. The news reports of this sad discovery said only that "investigations into the case were continuing". The media did NOT mention what I had heard informally from a close connection to the case: there was evidence that the woman had lately shown interest in lethal medicines; she had access to one of these; and the likely cause of death was a fatal cocktail of substances, self-administered. I have known personally of other, more unequivocal, cases of suicide that have also not been reported as such in the media. It appears that the media may put up a blackout around suicide -- no doubt out of respect for the victim's family and especially for the privacy of the victim's children. The other thing that media are very wary of these days is inciting copycat suicides; so they usually won't release any details of the cause of death. I think this veto is essential, as it saves lives; but it does leave the wider community to wonder and worry-- what really happened? for example, could the missing woman I mentioned above have been murdered while taking a walk in the bush? is there a killer in that forest? If suicide is now universally under-reported, it makes it harder for the average member of the public to make sense of unexplained disappearances and deaths in their local wilderness area. My guess is that having strong connections within the community that is affected is key to a more reality-based assessment of the risks.
One my mother's first lessons to me about living in the wilderness was "one of the most dangerous animal in the forest is [potentially] people." I'm always alert on the trail.
I've come to see that a lot of people go missing in America in the cities and also in the "country" and National Parks. More that I ever realized and I grew up in public schools that had pictures on milk cartons of young people with the caption "Have you seen Me?" Last year I was in Big Bend National Park and noticed printed sheets tacked to light poles and buildings of a pretty young woman who was missing 2 weeks previous, With Name, last seen leaving a local bar in Terlingua, and contact information for any knowledge anyone might have to share about her. This is a small town in the desert. The Missing 411 books too. I'm an outdoor person who has camped and hiked in the mountains and deserts solo many times. It's definitely a bigger problem than I ever imagined. The truth that we have active predators of humans is alarming! Don't be a victim. Thanks for the video.
Listen,I totally respect everything you do.Knowledge for anyone and everyone to be able to do the things they enjoy in life is key. With that said there are still thousands of people who go missing every single year that goes by.Fact.Where are these people going? As I said I respect what you do in teaching people how to safely go out and enjoy what you love. What really makes you live.Otherwise you have let fear control your life, therefore one never lives.Your correct many missing people are found. On the other hand many are not.One must never allow anything to stop them from doing what one loves or my opinion says what’s the since in living?None the less there are disappearances happening that cannot be explained.Everyones life is precious and we need to put our heads together and figure out what can be causing this and where are these people going so we can all continue to enjoy the things we love in life.Peace and please continue with all the good things you are doing.
Nakia do you have another website where we can donate to your cause or maybe even volunteer time and effort to help you in any way? I would love to help out. Also you are so right on and only the second person I've heard address the huge problem of indigenous and native american women who are and have gone missing. I know that their is a huge amount that have gone missing or have been murdered and no one is speaking up about it.
Cool I will def be making a donation this weekend. You've found a new supporter in me. Thank you for your reply and your hard work and effort. You're truly doing something great for people. Be safe out there always and be well.
I am very interested in it. 411 has Lead me to believe that the chances of serial killers would not be a plausible explanation on many of those that go missing. I like that you dive much deeper for answers. With that being said my answer would be yes I’m very interested to hear more on your take of serial killers in the woods.
Sorry, I just saw this comment. I mean yes, there are un-tracked serial killers in the woods, in rural areas. We need to take that seriously. However, we need to keep that in perspective... like you are more likely to be murdered by someone you know than a random stranger, more so if you hang out with shady characters. Also, our chances of being murdered by a stranger in the woods is very small compared to death by other things, like drowning, gun incidents, car accidents, heart disease etc.
I think it's correct that many of the individuals in the "Missing 411" series are victims of serial killers, or "episodic" killers, to use a recently-coined term. In particular, the missing Native American women are highly likely to be victims of several of these individuals. The problem is just as Nikia says here: they are very vulnerable. They are almost perfect targets, for multiple reasons. 1) Native American women are unfortunately often poor. The poor in the US are simply not valued as highly by society, and therefore less effort goes into maintaining their well-being. That includes the efforts of law enforcement. The officers themselves don't like to admit it, and most of them very sincere and very dedicated, but the reality is that law enforcement agencies in economically disadvantaged areas lack the resources that those in more affluent areas take for granted. 2) The Reservation system- In the US, the reservation system is a bizarre concoction of laws that often date back a century or more, and have little applicability to the modern era. Native American reservations are often viewed as something like independent, sovereign nations by US governing bodies, despite the fact that most of their funding comes from the Federal government. It's a unique system that has an "apartheid-lite" feel to it. The tribes are given broad jurisdiction over their internal affairs, at the cost getting relatively help from external state, county, and city governments. Surrounding municipalities typically take a "hands-off" approach to Reservation affairs. 3) Many or most of the Native Americans in the western US and Canada live in vast, rural areas with low population density. It's relatively to do things without being seen (or captured on camera, as is increasingly the case in US urban areas) in these places. Put those things and more together, and it's a perfect situation for those who have evil intent.
I don't get how the dogs are tracking and just lose there scent like they were just taken rite out from under there people without even a sound and the way after they go missing there's always a storm hampering the search .just so many missing and it's never on any news channels I mean SHIT .why is this not investigated MORE AN MORE .IM THINKING THE GOVERNMENT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS ,THINKING BLACK MARKET ORGAN SALES....OR SOMETHING MORE SINISTER LIKE ALIENS OR BIGFOOT.
I think that being physically fit enough to be out and about in the wild is paramount. I used to love running in local forests etc but unfortunately now I suffer with r/a really badly in my hips and legs. I understand what this guy is saying, we need the vigilance and physical ability to enjoy these beautiful places safely.
Since I've learned about the 411 stuff and the number of encounters people have had with Sasquatch and possible serial killers, hiking, camping and stays at National Parks or any large wooded or wilderness areas (secluded or not) are off the bucket list and out of the question.
Sadly, a huge portion of the missing is the human trafficing. 411 has brought attention to the missing, but there are SO many more. Human beings just gone. Any light you can shed on this will be appreciated. I am a firm believer that no child should ever be alone, not that it always helps.
It all boils down to vulnerability. Life is about vulnerability where danger is concerned. The Lord our God wants for us to be clever as a serpent, but gentle as a dove. This is why we, humans, are at the top of the food chain. Not due to our physical strength, but due to God giving us the higher intelligence. We are made in His Image. God bless you.
I live in a rural area in OR, USA, and for those who think that they are safer in the woods than in the city- don't be so quick to assume, and you ought not to be feeling so safe and secure from "whackos" out in the sticks either... there are plenty of them. It's a lot easier for dangerous and deviant people to get away with the things they do out in the less populated areas. Some of them live in those places for that very reason. Others may just frequent these areas to rid themselves of evidence. Every warm season in my area the authorities, forest rangers, or sometimes even civilians find at LEAST two bodies in the national forest up above my town after the thaw. And this is not including the hikers/explorers and others who pass from unfortunate natural circumstances like getting caught in unsurvivable weather, sustaining injuries from a fall or similar accident, or crossing paths with a dangerous wild animal. These recovered bodies are those that meet their end by the hands of another human being. With my town having a population of less than 4,000 and being surrounded by farmland before the terrain turns into forest, the next closest small town is at least 10 miles away, and the closest large one is at least 25 miles away, many might assume that this "sleepy" little place is safe as safe can be. I even have a friend who has been tricked into a home and held against their will in one of the neighborhoods that sit alongside the river. So yeah, don't be foolish. If you're going to go out there, be prepared, learn how to care for, protect, and defend yourself, be AWARE, trust your gut feelings, use good common sense, and it's probably best to go in a group.
There are thousands of missing people in national parks and forests in America, and some are found in strange circumstances and you're telling me there's nothing to be concern about? Your naive if you think there's nothing abnormal about that. Also just recently a mother disappeared while hiking with her daughter on an established trail at Great Smokey Mountains. This is what David Pauildes write about in his books. There is something abnormal happening.
I totally agree with you. David Paulides is telling the truth, the thousands of disappearances in eerie circumstances. There are cryptids in the wilderness, portals to other dimensions in remote forests, extraterrestrial visitors. But when people approach disappearances cases with a too narrow mind, they are doing a disservice to others. The people who vanished from national parks were not victims of serial killers, that's not true. People disappear in national forests, wilderness carrying beacons, guns, blankets, cell phones, whatever, and never are found. Not just people hiking alone. People going in pairs, in groups are vanished from Earth without any rational explanation
@@RatandCat I have to agree with you ! I know about a few things that I have been told that it doesn't exist in Kansas . Even when I was young but I had seen them even hit one with my car . There has been one caught on a trail camera but there are people who will argue that they don't exist in Kansas . The one the trail camera was only about 1 1/2 miles from the city limits . I'm speak of mountain lions . There is places where old railroad tracks are made into hiking trails here . I had worked for the railroad for a while and I know there is some remote areas that anything can happen .
Top rule of hiking and safety is never assume you're alone in the wilderness. I hike alone but I take dogs and they are always on a leash attached to me. Some people I cross on the trails don't like my dogs growling and barking at them, but I could care less.
I think in this day and age of technology many people take things for granted, 1st that out in the elements things can go wrong, even the most prepared can have accidents, and 2nd, because we rely so heavily on technology, we forget sometimes the God given gift of trusting our gut!!! That 6th sense that alerts us when something isn't quite right. I think its important to trust that instinct.
Bigfoot are abundant. And most are NOT friendly. I have had several personal experiences in Northern Ontario Canada. Some are extremely dangerous and account for a lot of missing persons.
Arlo Marlo what I can’t understand is why the general public r oblivious to them. They make fun of you when u even mention the subject. It aggravates me
Great job Nakia, I appreciate the information. I always am aware of my surroundings. Even when there's people around. I always carry. I worry about camping in a non designated area.
even camping in a designated area these days can be dodgy, at a camp site near me, we used to get criminals stealing whole campervans, and any campers are not vetted at all
Thank you so much for sharing your interest in this subject. I don't know much about this problem, but have seen the videos on this subject. Thank you again, I look forward to your next video.
Solid comments R&C,,,Completely agree ,people need to be aware of their immediate and distant environment around them....It seems that over the past 20-25 years,,more and more people seem to live in a world of rainbows and butterflies......and that bad things only happen to bad people......reality is simply not simple as many are taught....environments can be brutal for those without the needed lessons to not only live, but just survive in them......it may be in the wilderness or in a major city.....awareness of how the environment operates will be the difference of survival or not.....there are many dark corners,,evil people in all walks of this planet.....a simple wrong choice ,may be the last of life as it is known....
I live along the highway of tears in canada, highway 16. Theres an investigation but its been rife with conflict and turnover. I have friends who have family members among the missing indigenous women, on that highway. Definitely something spooky's been going on up there. The Pig Farm was the worst secret in Vancouver, all one had to do was ask any gal downtown, they all knew but did the police do anything? Not likely, when they used to party there.

This us what will also help you. What ever it is that you believe in, believe in it 100% whether it's arch angels or anything positive like Jesus. I always call upon arch angel Michael when I feel trouble is near. Also grounding yourself into the planet by visualizing you're a tree and your feet are the roots. Going to center of planet and bringing up bright white or golden light into your tree roots and up into the top of your head or your visualized tree tip. This white or golden light will then shoot out into the cosmos and back down into the planet and then surrounding yourself with this light all around your body and even beyond. Projecting love at what ever lurks around you, even if it's a physical animal will calm this presence. If at a loss just atleast protect yourself with the white light and call upon arch angel Michael. He is a powerful presence . GOD bless

Here's another problem; If a crime is suspected it is turned over to local agencies for investigation. That's good and bad, for one thing it doesn't show on parks so to find out if a trail is having an issue with crime one has to check with every agency along the trail. It also keeps parks looking safer than they may be at the moment. Parks are big business. Never assume they are safer than society.
Maria, I wish you were right, but there are plenty of orphans and parents who are on drugs and don't care where they're children are. There are also immigrant children and others that have been separated from their family and trafficked. It's really sad, but true.
I don't go because I am 1. Afraid to get lost. 2. Afraid meet someone with a smiley face and malignant intentions. 3. Afraid of snakes, coyotes; In a smaller park, let say it clearly a murderer or rapist or kidnaper. I feel I miss so much, I love the wilderness the times I have been there.
I've listened to several presentations by Paulides and that was enough for me. He seems to be unfamiliar with wilderness crime scene investigation procedures and common lost person behavior, like often attributing well known signs and symptoms of hypothermia to the supernatural. In one interview, he suggested that search and rescue teams sometimes drain rivers to track people or look for bodies. That of course is an impossibility.
We'll have to agree to disagree on that one sadly - read his books, the paranormal/supernatural is only a small part of the overall in what he talks about, he is really saying what is going on and leaving it upto us to decide. What you do is great keep it up and the vids are very interesting. It's the anniversary of Paul Miller's disappearance today - that is a real mystery - ua-cam.com/video/Cja4wp1ax9A/v-deo.html

Paulides is only highlighting how many people are going missing in the wilderness in MISSING 411 he isn't really stating what's causing it, he leaves that to the reader/listener! Let's face it, it has got people and authorities thinking outside of the box, whatever people think of him or his work!
I get what your saying. I'm about to travel the states and live in my van. I'm a little concerned but I'm not scared at all. I do intend on being in the woods some but I will not be to trusting and I will be armed but I just have to have faith that I will be OK and do my best at being aware of my surroundings. Much respect to you sir and what you do. Just subbed and look forward to more videos..... Thanks
Tell me how you got started in videography. What training did you have and how you got into it? Obviously it makes a pretty good living for you, which I think is awesome
Just found your channel ( through rusty) I'm looking forward to learning some survival tips for my hiking trips on the black Mountains wales been living here 2 years tried researching disappearances but keep hitting brick walls! Very strange.
Situation awareness is key one must train themselves to use layers of scanning 10-20-30 feet out note exits, choke points ect ahead of time as well as peculiar people or actions . When in the woods I move as though I'm being observed or hunted this means using rocks to walk upon to displace foot prints or using cover for concealment. Also note don't go back the same trail to your car or truck so your not patterned. And always be armed and actually know how to use it properly to defend yourself.
@@XOXO-mb2vh no one is after me but training your body to muscle memory so when in the woods it becomes second nature. Same way you train your eyes and mind to follow tracks without constantly stopping to examine area when the print isn't defined your mind automatically trains your eye to calculate the stride , direction ect so you stick to trail.
Tom Brown's philosophy on using "scatter vision" to detect movement, threats is most excellent and sensing the outer rings of disturbance from your location can also give you a heads up on impending doom.
I never go hiking without a 48" oak 1 x 2 that I've done some tapering to, thus making a sort of sword-like walking stick. Ain't a bear-stopper, and the stick alone might not drive away a hungry adult coug, but it DEFINITELY will break a human bone or worse; plus I carry a 4" pocket knife. There are a few of both those critters in my area but they're pretty rare; humans, on the other hand, might pop up anywhere, and I think it prudent to have a weapon in my hands at all times. If you aren't expecting any trouble but suddenly it appears in front of you (or behind you), there could be some time-consuming fumbling about before you can pull a gun.
Well the tactical crowd call it situation awareness but us woods wise people just call it trail/timber cruising it's about training one's eye's, ears, nose to in tune to nature your eyes scan ahead and to sides when walking taking in any tracks, movements, broken branches ect . Sounds and scents can warn you of danger such as growls, twigs snapping, bear jaw popping or huffing as well as putrid smells like animal kills or animals smelling if they are very close a experienced woodsman takes it all in.
The violence against women all over the world is sickening. What's going on with indigenous women. Please call your senators and ask them to protect and provide shelter for abused indigenous women that are disappearing. Are there any government programs that offer protection?
And it’s fun too. Grew up inNew Mexico and just ran around everywhere. Yikes now that I think @ it! Anyway, I always played those type of games in my head on my adventures.
1. Leave your route, alternate route, parking lot and specific return time with someone RELIABLE. 2. Hike armed. (A sign won’t save you from an acclimated bear or hungry mountain lion) 3. Carry BEAR spray (not OC pepper spray for humans) 4. Use a proper bear canister for food and toiletries . The tree techniques are not as good. 5. Don’t cook in camp if you’re in bear country 6. Stay away from anything suspicious like irrigation lines, the sound of pump motors, wire, deer cameras. 7. Realize that once-urbane predators have figured out the “hunting grounds” to be found in National & State Parks, BLM Land etc. 8. Ladies, do not hike alone and for cryin out loud, CARRY! 9. Pray before your excursion. 10. Use all of your senses: you’ll smell something before you hear it. You’ll hear it before you see it. You’ll see it before.... (well sometimes right before it’s too late). Enjoy the wonderments of God’s amazing creations but please remember to keep your head on a swivel. The silly bell on your pack is mostly an annoyance to fellow hikers and serves no purpose whatsoever in life and death situations. For thousands of years mankind did not venture into the wilderness unarmed. That’s a relatively new, post-hippy dippy mentality perpetrated by the same people who freeze to death at night because they’re afraid to light a fire and the same people who pack their poop out in a PVC tube! Mankind has been warming ourselves at campfires since fire was discovered. We have ventured out armed since we first hefted a stick or a rock. And we’ve successfully crapped in cat holes for millennia without overheating the planet. Lastly, always ALWAYS hike with: a knife, canteen, jacket. E-blanket, lighter/ferro rod, a headlamp, map & compass. The people who get lost and freeze overnight usually die from hypothermia or fear: running off a cliff, into a river, miles off trail etc... Being out in the Woods is the real deal. Treat your excursions like Lewis n Clark would’ve. Oh, and watch Survivorman NOT Bear Goobs. Les Stroud knows his stuff. The other guy will get you killed in the most peculiar ways.
Man when I was young there was a story about a photographer serial killer who took girls up to those falls for photo shoots. They would end up falling to their death. Well..it ended up they kept finding bodies at the bottom and figured out that it was a photographer that must have been taking them up for that purpose. Back in the late 70s maybe early 80s. My grandparents lived in that state. I remember them telling us the story as we went there to see the sights on our summer vacation to visit them. Lol. Always creeped me out.
Doesn't hit close enough to home for most people...yet It is getting talked about more and more. People have lost much of their instinctual sense of caution. "Thrill seekers" purposefully go against the senses that enabled our ancestors to survive
My Ahtna Athabascan sister has been missing since 1974. Last seen in Tigard, OR. Stumbled across R & C Bigfoot Vida. Wow! There are tree leans and tree breaks in this video. Structures associated with Bigfoot. activity.
@@RatandCat I am glad that I found your channel, Nikia. Even more grateful for your MMIW Vids. I have to contact the pd or sheriffs for testing remains for possible DNA match. She asked a family member for a ride to their home, but they were busy so she was going to accept a ride that was offered. I also need to camp and hike. Going back out with mobility impairment from a fall(s) in 2009.
The waterfalls you mentioned along the columbia river, and trailheads along the Interstate/columbia river area. I think predators look for vulnerable people at these tourist/hiking areas. Or anywhere they can find unsuspecting victims that are just passing through...
A .45 is my favorite piece of camping gear. I also carry a sword, they don't jam or need reloading. I've also seen and experienced enough weirdness in the wild and wide to not ever go out unarmed.
Someone asked me if I have seen a big cat in Colorado. I said no. They asked if I had been in the woods. I said yes. Their answer was well then a big cat has more than likely seen you.
Awareness & preparedness are key...for the expected and unexpected turn of events we may encounter within or outside of our usual surroundings. Listening to our gut feelings, gut Instinct, or intuition is also a valuable asset, that is often dismissed or reasoned away. In the 90's on the east side of Detroit , around 50 prostitutes were found in a very small 10 x 4 block area near a huge auto plant for 6 years I drove past this area for work . I drove down a main thoroughfare never knowing that 2 blocks away streetwalkers were plying there trade at shift change at the manufacturing plant . When the story came out hardly anyone knew about all these throw away women 's bodies that the serial killer had murdered . So I do believe that many people out there go missing for terrible reasons and it is sad
In our freelance society, there's the missing folks and then there's the prostitutes who no one cares ABOUT.everyone is a Target for treacherous eyes who are watching All the time

FYI I have been following the "missing indigenous Women" for years and was mad to find out that they have more young men than women go missing but for some reason the story gets told this way.
It's not so much that people are reporting this inaccurately, it's that consumers are more interested in young women that go missing so that's what gets the views. I just tell it like it is, so my channel isn't that popular compared with outlets that cater to what people want focus on those stories and other sensational aspects that draw attention. Also, the fact that more men go missing shouldn't take away from the fact that indigenous woman, and other minorities go missing a lot. We should take a seriously look at each group and their unique circumstances, in my opinion. Thanks for commenting and watching Eric.
@@RatandCat That wasn't aimed at you Brother, i like your channel a lot. I live in Washington and work what i call Cascade Cold Cases. I've spent the majority of my time on Kris Fowler and Sam Sayers.
always ready- not long ago there were two fellows down below at the gate leading into the claim. They never came on in. Although I was ready and they were thinking about it for at least 30 mins. But in the end they turned around and dumped the body on down the road a few miles. ( I often wonder how it would have turned out---hehe )
I heard of serial killers, hike in those places too. So many sick people out there... They have no souls, these killers. Always carry a gun. extra water and clothing, hunting knife, solar blanket, a tent and some granola bars and a Bell-Howell flashlight with extra batteries. Take along some netting for mosquitoes, to put over you as you sleep. Try not to eat tuna fish in the wild's, it attracts bears and such.. Try to always take a friend with you. Usually, these killer's go after people who are alone or elderly. Leave the kiddies at home, with grandma or grandpa. If your on meds, bring some extras with you, just n case you get lost.. unfortunate things, do happen to good people. Having ear phones in your ears.. is not good, especially if someone is stalking you out there...many people never hear their killer's coming after them, until it's too late... very sad. Good luck and stay safe.
Yes I have heard and studied these things, it’s not serial killers. That’s what the people say that try to comfort themselves, don’t know enough about the cases in 411-or- don’t believe in other things
Early on, I swear I saw a guy sitting in a brown gillie suit just off the trail to your left. I mean, it looked like a guy just sitting there posing as a burned out stump.
Christopher, interesting observation. Not someone really there that I'm aware of. I do have some hidden Easter eggs in some of my videos (I'm testing the folks that say they see Bigfoot in my videos to see what else they can see ;). Actually just having fun. No one has found them yet), but I haven't done that for a while. I should add some more. Thanks for the reminder!
Cryptids and mysterious portals that open and closed at will mysteriously, bringing huge storms with it! Are one of those bizarre silence killers! As well! Something to be research seriously !
The water fall that you mentioned. If it’s the same one that I’m thinking of I did a search there once. I believe it’s still an ongoing investigation but it’s kind of a shady area with lots of parties and drug use. That’s always on the back of my mind when I go out for a search is am I going to discover a crime scene.
Appreciate your video Rat and Cat. Well not alot of people talk about this, but they should. I get more paranoid as I get older. When I was MUCH younger, I would often go on hikes alone into pretty remote places. Now we don't have alot of BF in my specific area. But people are another story. Now, I would never go hiking alone, or at night. I think there are alot more serial killers out there than we know of. Yes we should be armed, but also armed with common sense and aware of our surroundings. If someone just seems really suspicious, get the fuck out of there, QUICKLY. Don't be overly nice! Always be prepared to defend yourself. And get a transponder so that if you're lost or injured you can summon help more easily. Something is seriously happening to people out there, just check out "Missing 411" stories. This could also involve the Illuminati or other high level groups. It is said that they abduct young children to use as sacrifices in their ceremonies. It's no wonder that only their skull caps and shoes are ever found, later, if anything is found of their remains. Be careful out there peeps!
I believe there are quite a bit of serial killers,in the national parks and in the woods and wilderness areas. I tell my friends when they go out into the woods or national parks, carry a big gun that would take down a bear. Leave the pee shooters at home. Take a good pair of binocularsevery once in a while and look through them, around the area your in. Stay safe.
Rule number 1 let everyone know where you are going number 2 carry a big side arm , 3 GPS and simple survival kit , never trust anyone because there are too many nutts out there and never be afraid to take a life to protect yours .
Never go into the wilderness unarmed and by yourself regardless of experience. Nothing may ever happen. If it does, it’s too late.
One thing occurs to me: Couch potatoes never go missing, so I'm safe.
LOL. Thank goodness! Keep the door locked :)

G'day Tim,
Unfortunately I have to agree with you here, it's very sad and goes against every fibre of my being to think on such level that we absolutely do exist in such a place where individuals can be that far from what's good and humane yet hide amongst us seemingly a regular Joe . And like you said pray on the less fortunate...
Happy Days and God Bless 😉

Wolves avoid risky situations too
Situational awareness ! Again most people are “In the moment “ and not looking for any danger. Keep videos coming! Many Thanks!
Thank you!
Even human predators go hiking. So yea, it's possible and scary.

Bring a GPS locator and a gun. Dont go out there alone.
Bingo brother ...At least the first two.

@Terry Harris your letting the media get to you dummy
You haven't actually read many of the '411' cases. For example why and how would people go missing along with their dogs at the same time?

Thank you for your intro .It was said very well.
The number of missing world wide without a trace is super high & quite alarming.
1000s upon 1000s.
What area of Colorado did you visit?.. I'm from the Estes Park area..
You're hot
Wilderness, and safety, and carrying my smith & wesson m&p shield. Good times...
The number of serial killer documentaries here on UA-cam is staggering, & those are just the ones who've been caught.
Hello Ruined Temple, what national park are you talking about, if you don't mind sharing that info?
Thanks for that post. Very informative
I'm saying there are other risks that some may be overlooking.
Bro, you sound like you work for the park service.
Yes. True!
Bigfoot are abundant. And most are NOT friendly. I have had several personal experiences in Northern Ontario Canada. Some are extremely dangerous and account for a lot of missing persons.
I have no doubt of that
Arlo Marlo what I can’t understand is why the general public r oblivious to them.
Was wondering if you guys have ever used psychic detectives as an aid in locating missing hikers?
Not yet.
BIG FOOT abducting indigenous women because they're in need of new breeding stock? "scratches bearded chin"
Well if you think about wouldn't a woman physically capable of what I refer to as 'dragging home the buffalo' be the most feasible choice?

2 hours but 👍
I live along the highway of tears in canada, highway 16. Theres an investigation but its been rife with conflict and turnover. I have friends who have family members among the missing indigenous women, on that highway. Recently avid athletes & sport fishermen have been going missing along the same river and highway, only to turn up weeks later in searched areas.
Ive lost family to those rivers/oceans, im very careful around it.
Im always on high alrert, aware of people and surroundings, & avoid unecessary risks.

Definitely something spooky's been going on up there. The Pig Farm was the worst secret in Vancouver, all one had to do was ask any gal downtown, they all knew but did the police do anything? Not likely, when they used to party there.
beerthug I’m at the opposite end of the province, from Vancouver. They’re at the bottom, I’m near the top.... that is crazy though-I just left a comment on another video, about the pig farm. I didn’t know that, about the police knowing. Messed up.
There is definitely something going on along the highways up north. Along a specific highway! 6hrs in a southern direction and 2hours in a northern direction, along #16. So many disappearances, over decades? I remember hearing about girls going missing, literally minutes from my home :(
@@MIZZJ3SKA Yeah Highway of Tears has been news for years, it really took off when that high school girl form Vanderhoof went missing from a campground. My Ex was taken for a ride to the Farm when she was 17, before they started chopping them up.
When 'They' were done with her she was OD'd and dumped under a bridge, but she came out of it and lived to tell the story, as horrific as it was. Nowhere seems safe
Always I mean ALWAYS ,take a gun with you into the woods I don't care how far your going GO ARMED
Damn straight!
At least a 44 mg, or 45/70 that will stop (ANYWAY THING) most guides carry it for bear attacks!, Well.wotth the money) #,What price do u put on your life! ,The 45/70 is only $800 & it will stop a charging grizzly,, moose or of course a man! Just take your time& reflect on these words of wisdom! So far it has saved my & my son's life twice ! Blessings to all.of you who love to be out. Im the backcountry!!!!
GOD bless
I live on 20 acres (16 wooded) in southern Illinois. Walk my dogs daily in the woods and NEVER go without protection. Have seen plenty of things on my game cam that I don't want to run into without my weapon. It only takes one time. Situational awareness is survival.

G'day Nakia,
I really enjoyed your concentration on prevention, and all the correct ways so prepare.. myself and a great friend and colleague have a channel that is all about creating Awareness of our Hairy Neighbors which here in Australia is most commonly known as the Yowie.
Just like us humans I believe that there's the good right through to the mentally disturbed and evil for lack of a better word, individuals and can be extremely dangerous, Rogue males being most likely the most dangerous in my view.
It's all about education for the safety of our children, their children and so on!
Obviously it's most likely to be one us humans that commit these horrendous crimes but I believe the Yowie is more than capable just like your Sasquatch.
Happy Days and God Bless 😉

Here's another problem; If a crime is suspected it is turned over to local agencies for investigation. That's good and bad, for one thing it doesn't show on parks so to find out if a trail is having an issue with crime one has to check with every agency along the trail. It also keeps parks looking safer than they may be at the moment.
Parks are big business.
Never assume they are safer than society.
heard about those sorts of incidents a lot, I always watch my back.
"People that won't be missed". That one got me there. Pretty much everyone has a family, there buddy. "People that won't be missed", wow........
Maria, I wish you were right, but there are plenty of orphans and parents who are on drugs and don't care where they're children are. There are also immigrant children and others that have been separated from their family and trafficked. It's really sad, but true.
Also, in some instances, parents thought teens have run away again and don't report them, when actually they have been abducted.
Have you read the MISSING 411 books by David Paulides at all ? I have one of the books....
Thanks - Maureen who has worked so hard in Canada to get Missing Peoples laws into action in Ontario - www.cbc.ca/news/canada/kitchener-waterloo/ontario-missing-persons-act-maureen-trask-1.5164532 - her sons disappearance in 2011 has appeared in one of Paulides books, which is the one I have. Paulides is only highlighting how many people are going missing in the wilderness in MISSING 411 he isn't really stating what's causing it, he leaves that to the reader/listener! Let's face it, it has got people and authorities thinking outside of the box, whatever people think of him or his work!
@@IanP1963 thanks for your feedback and information. There certainly are odd cases out there.
@@RatandCat yeah I think David Paulite is a bit dodgy
I get what your saying. I'm about to travel the states and live in my van. I'm a little concerned but I'm not scared at all. I do intend on being in the woods some but I will not be to trusting and I will be armed but I just have to have faith that I will be OK and do my best at being aware of my surroundings. Much respect to you sir and what you do. Just subbed and look forward to more videos..... Thanks
Tell me how you got started in videography. What training did you have and how you got into it? Obviously it makes a pretty good living for you, which I think is awesome
Your channel deadly. I hope more people subscribe as your channel grow, you deserve s million sub.
You are very smart
Whose after you?
Don't go into the woods today or you could be in for a big surprise lol ! Especially if you meet meeee. Ha ha ha!!

When I'm day hiking I like to pretend I'm John Rambo and being hunted by Hope Sheriff Dept.
That's the way to do it! :)
And it’s fun too. Grew up inNew Mexico and just ran around everywhere. Yikes now that I think @ it! Anyway, I always played those type of games in my head on my adventures.
I'm sure you can find Lost person, because you are very dedicated person and nobleman. Thanks for that.
Sadly there are hundreds of these cases in both the US & Canada.
Trent Hogan few in Australia too bud!
1. Leave your route, alternate route, parking lot and specific return time with someone RELIABLE.
2. Hike armed. (A sign won’t save you from an acclimated bear or hungry mountain lion)
3. Carry BEAR spray (not OC pepper spray for humans)
4. Use a proper bear canister for food and toiletries . The tree techniques are not as good.
5. Don’t cook in camp if you’re in bear country
Great video as usual. We love your style.
Doesn't hit close enough to home for most people...yet
It is getting talked about more and more.
People have lost much of their instinctual sense of caution. "Thrill seekers" purposefully go against the senses that enabled our ancestors to survive
College students gone missing (Female), women gone missing, children and older adults. A lot of bad stuff out there and it really makes you wonder.
don't be so trusting of people you meet in the woods. not all serial killers are loners, sometimes they are 2 or more together.
What is your thoughts on the ppl who have disappeared from national parks?

The waterfalls you mentioned along the columbia river, and trailheads along the Interstate/columbia river area. I think predators look for vulnerable people at these tourist/hiking areas. Or anywhere they can find unsuspecting victims that are just passing through...

A .45 is my favorite piece of camping gear. I also carry a sword, they don't jam or need reloading. I've also seen and experienced enough weirdness in the wild and wide to not ever go out unarmed.

Awareness & preparedness are key...for the expected and unexpected turn of events we may encounter within or outside of our usual surroundings. Listening to our gut feelings, gut Instinct, or intuition is also a valuable asset, that is often dismissed or reasoned away.
Food for thought: Even the most unlikely...intelligent, educated, skilled & experienced people have completely disappeared & vanished without a trace, for many unknown reasons, simple circumstances to strange, never to be seen again... Watch & listen to the details of Rusty West's & David Paulides' videos & websites (Well Done)...guaranteed to open your eyes & give new perspective on this subject & our own choices & decisions we make. Thanks for highlighting & discussing this important matter :)

Thanks for commenting and watching Eric.

always ready- not long ago there were two fellows down below at the gate leading into the claim.

And when the hikers go missing with all there equipment nothing is ever found not even human remains no bones are ever found that's odd ???
Btw glad you got to see bunny. I could barely see him. I would love to be hiking up there.
Great video. If you can afford it, one of the things to always take is an I-phone or a good cell phone.
Cryptids and mysterious portals that open and closed at will mysteriously, bringing huge storms with it! Are one of those bizarre silence killers! As well! Something to be research seriously !
Your sentence is unclear.
It probably is the same waterfall, although if it's not let me know! I hope to post that episode late fall or winter.
Yes, always good to be alert.
NIKKIA, HAVE YOU HAD BIGFOOT EXPERIENCE IN COLORADO? MY DAUGHTER LIVES IN CENNTENIAL, CO., AND IM CURIOYS?

Where have you gone too. You haven’t put out any videos in a month or so?
I'm making a video on that now. Sorry.
