    Thank you so much for all the in-debth information, I scored high enough on the ASVAB to qualify for this job if I went into the navy but I'm torn between 3 good careers. This video has given me the information to will alow me to make a more informed decision.
    (Currently torn between Penetration Tesing, Cyber Operations, and nuclear engineering)

      Currently an EMN3 in the navy, don’t become a navy nuke. 9/10 of us will tell you to not choose any of the three nuke rates. Take literally anything else

      Penetration testing seems like a career I would greatly enjoy 😉 especially if I’d be making good money.

    I started in Software Engineering but I'm really not liking the market. I'm looking at job postings for software engineers and I'm finding nothing but unpaid internships and even some posts where they want YOU to pay THEM per hour to let you gain experience with them.
    I'm really considering on switching to Petroleum or Nuclear Engineering because of this. Software is fun, but I don't think it'll stay fun for very long with cut throats chasing your job 24/7. Petroleum makes more money now, but for how long? Nuclear seems like a good way to get a job for the long haul, far into the future!
    I'd take an unpaid internship if I really wanted a position, but these are no name companies out here with no promise that they'll survive the end of the year asking for unpaid interns like they're Google doing you a favor by gracing you with their presence.

    My 13 year old son says he wants to work in a nuclear power plant. He is Hugh functioning aspergers and can handle college with ease. Any suggestions for him as he finished middle school and enters high school?

      Take APs and other classes that get you college credit. It is so underrated and saves literal thousands in tuition. Also most of the gen ed courses required by colleges, you can get credit for via APs. That means when you go into college all of your classes will be things you’re interested in/major sepcific classes instead of random required classes like high school. Trust me, college credit is the way to go.

    Awesome video! I want to become a nuclear engineer now but do you REALLY need a bachelors degree?

    • @judahman23
      @judahman23 2 роки тому +2

      Yes. There are ANSI standards requiring a B.S. for many nuclear engineering positions

      Although there are many craft/tradesman jobs that require experience and licenses and not a degree (I'm familiar with the nuclear energy sector). A trade school is a great alternative to college!

      If you score high enough on the ASVAB you can enlist in the navy and they will teach you for free and get you certified. In a much shorter amount of time then attending traditional college.
      However you'll have to serve in the navy for 5 years active, 3 inactive. (Unless you go into the reserves)
