      It's not a Curse . God did it and their is wisdom behind every ailment . This life is a test and nobody will go through it unscathed. You dnt need to worry about things you can't control . Seek medical help if you can . This is a test . And you can pass it .

      I get very short of breath especially in hot weather and my blood pressure is almost always high or really high like to the point of giving me migrains that cause me to puke for like 12 hours straight. I'm not sure why nobody else seems to ever say anything about the high blood pressure part cause it seems like that's just my issue apparently. I've quit jobs because I just didn't have the endurance to be able to continue working them and I can't think deeply when I'm really bad off cause of the oxygen deprivation so I'm also a dullard pretty often.

    As someone in elite football, I feel like I'm always a step behind the others because I can't catch my breath and can never achieve a desired level of fitness. It's so frustrating and embarrassing for me as a sportswoman, particularly when it rains and my jersey sticks to my chest. I feel like I can't concentrate on the game because I'm self-conscious that someone will notice. Don't even get me started on swimwear. I hope that with the Nuss surgery I'm due to have in a few months, not only will I become more self-confident in my appearance, but it will enable me to go further in soccer.

    I've had a mild to moderate form of this since childhood. I often have had bouts of shortness of breath, and my docs have always said there is nothing wrong with me and that its psychological. Perhaps it's not simply anxiety though, but rather, my pectus affecting my lungs. Make sense since the ribs are pressed inward against the lungs, seemingly preventing them from expanding as much as they would otherwise.

    Yeah I did the operation. The doc placed the bar and locked it in place with a small metal bar on some other ribs. It broke the other ribs. Fixed the probleme at like 35%, broke a couple of ribs. In the end, some 15 years later, I think simply working out and building up muscles would have given me far better results. It also affected very badly my lungs. I now have poor respiration, it's not so bad, but it is bad.

    Surgery isn't the only way to treat it. There's a thing called a vacuum bell, it's a new treatment not prescribed much yet, but it's basically just a giant suction cup. Used for a long period of time, it can actually improve the condition.

    • @Sara-cg3nc
      @Sara-cg3nc 6 місяців тому

      I used the vacuum bell pretty consistently for around 3 years and didn't see any results. I was 12 years old when I started using it so it probably helped reduce the sternum growth and prevent the pectus from worsening, but the deformity is still there. I'm looking into implant surgery to fix the aspect.

Now I'm 25 and I can see clear indentation on my chest, and the indentation is increasing. Recently this year i started having breathing problems, and facing difficulty in sleeping. But no matter what you go through in regards to the surgery it is nothing compared to what you had to go through before having it done. Good luck to all who are getting the nuss procedure, it will be the best decision of your life.

    At this point, I am really annoyed with my doctors from when I was a kid until now. My family and I asked about this from the time I was young throughout my teens and into my early 20s. Every doctor I had said that there was not much that could be done to help this process. I could not do well in sports and was embarrassed (still am to some extent), I have had breathing problems since I was a kid. 10 years or so ago I had Blood Clots and I had a Pulmonary Embolism in 2020. The cardiologist who took the PE clots out of me asked me why I never fixed the Pectus issue. He said my blood flow would be better as well as my breathing.
    I am 52 now and thought that he was kidding when he recommended that we should explore options to have this fixed. He said that there would be massive pain at my age to do this but it could add 5-10 years of life. He also said that because of my clotting issues, I may not be a good candidate but he still wants to explore the option.

      I feel you. I'm in my late forties and my pediatrician doused any chance I had getting corrective surgery when I was a teenager. I never did well at sports and it sucked being the weakest kid in school. My parents asked my doctor what could be done about my sunken chest and he said to just leave it alone rather than risk a "dangerous" surgery. Consequently I've never been able to build the chest strength a man my size should have. It also got me failed on every military enlistment physical. Doctors need to be better educated at how debilitating PE is and how important it is to get corrective surgery as early as possible.

      @@niharendunath557 True, on the other hand you got to accept you have the condition. That's what I did. All those negative thoughts and emotions are totally understandable as I can relate. I still sometimes think about surgery, at the same time I realize I have to play with the cards that were given to me (saying as a guy with T1 diabetes, pectus excavatum, early baldness, circumcision). BTW, my special move is eating from my chest, using it as a bowl. Looking from a certain angle, I can look really buffed. I'd rather have this condition than be poor and without food. Appreciate what you have and remember that everyone walks their own path. I hope you can have peace with it whether sooner or later. Own it.

    Just a note to all the people watching this, and wondering how dangerous this is, and if you could be at risk for shourtage of breath. I have this thing, and my chest dips in about 3cm, and i have had no problems with this. I can run for longer periods of time (I am a gamer, so i can't run forever) no problems working out, not realy any problem with the looks, aslloong as you make it cool. Forexample, pretending that you are IronMan, and making jokes of it, then generaly people wont care about it, and think it is just normal.
