    6.45 "I'd hang onto it just in case the throttle fires up!" Nope, it won't. When the Kopilot has the controls (RTH & Auto-launch) the motor won't run till the speed over the ground (as measured by the Kopilot GPS) exceeds 4m/s. WATCH OUT when flying home into the wind!
    Also, as commented elsewhere here, the manual diagram for wing setup is looking at the BOTTOM of the wing! And, as Andrew noted, RECALIBRATE the radio after any and every trim change to keep Stabilized (and RTH) in sync with Manual!
    EDIT!! That "looking at the BOTTOM of the wing!" thing is probably incorrect. BUT NOTE for a V-tail it will depend on how your servos are mounted. In particular, for the ZOHD Talon250G, the servos for the Rudder and Elevator are mounted in the body in a reversed position from the 1 shown in the Kopilot manual - so you need to swap the E/R leads over from the Kopilot diagram.

    Gave my Drift it’s maiden flight this evening after watching this video. Had it too nose heavy to start with and while “hand tossing” in manual mode it nosed in heavy, jamming one of the aileron servos. With not much to lose I set the damaged aileron level and switched to stability mode. The Drift launched and sailed around beautifully on one good aileron! Tested RTH and that worked fine too! Lovely little plane for a quiet evening flight.

    FOR ANYONE HAVE ISSUES WITH KOPILOT, I only had RTH and 2 Stablization modes on my ZOHD system but when I added a homemade 25v low ESR capacitor, it switched it to the normal 3 switch system RTH- normal - stablized. The system works great but if you run into any errors do not worry. Just keep recalibrating and/or add a capacitor. Great video as usual Andrew!!!!

    This video has everything I needed to get my zohd dart set up and now that I'm doing a talon 250g I'm using it again. This video is gold of you like kopilot and fsi6x. I love that it's flysky but still can do sbus.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  2 роки тому

      Great to hear Isaiah. Does SBUS work out of the box with FlySKY? Anything you need to do on the radio?

    • @papamidnightfpv
      @papamidnightfpv 2 роки тому

      @@AndrewNewton yes, it works out of the box. Fsi6x radio and the fs-ia6b Rx. In the radio in Rx settings you just select ibus and you use one of the top horizontal rows of pins on the Rx.

    • @theoztreecrasher2647
      @theoztreecrasher2647 2 роки тому

      @@papamidnightfpv Typo there! To use the FS-iA6B receiver and FS-i6X transmitter (in stock forms) with the Kopilot you must select S-bus NOT i-Bus as the serial output on the radio and plug the S-bus connector from the Kopilot unit into the top right set of contacts (looking at pins.) The (stock) FS-i6 transmitter can't be used for S-bus as it can't be set to transmit it.
      Also a tip about the Talon 250g...The manual for the Kopilot and the 1 for the Talon 250g show different connections for the Rudder and the Elevator. Use the 1 shown in the Talon 250g manual! The servos are mounted reversed in that plane.;-)

    I'd like to point out something that happened to me when I setup the Kopilot Lite on the Dart 250g. I was looking at the Dart 250g user guide and the picture on there is looking from the BOTTOM of the wing. So it looked like AIL channel was on the right wing and ELE channel was the left wing. So this worked I was able to set this up and get the correct movement to counteract roll and pitch in stabilized mode. BUT once I removed the setup control pad, those reversed which would be a guaranteed crash! So make sure AIL channel is on the LEFT wing and ELE channel is on the RIGHT wing for any wing setup.

    • @theoztreecrasher2647
      @theoztreecrasher2647 3 роки тому

      @@caymanhilldesigns453 Yes. If using PWM you must have the Rudder output from the receiver connected to the Kopilot even though you have no Rudder output from the Kopilot to the non-existent rudder on the Drift. Otherwise you cannot give the correct calibration stick command from the radio. Note also that, if you had to re-map your channel order to suit your Tx/Rx pair to the A,E,T,R,Mode required by the Kopilot, the stick positions may be different - try all 8 possible for 5+ seconds each. (The throttle has to be down so there are only 2 possibilities for that stick.) Your sticks also need to be calibrated (and no trims) so they give full +/- 100% throws.

      Thanks but weirdly the Switch C was not centering correctly during my maiden so it was always stabilised - I discovered this by swapping to VRB and finding manual, and therefore found the Drift was responding only to a non-centered switch value. I centred everything and Held the options board button to recalibrate and that problem corrected. So I am confident I am in manual. And I can damped the control's responses using SWA. But SWA it rolls the aileron value by about 2mm.
      UPDATE: I just checked the Tx Display and it is the transmitter that is putting in the aileron roll when I use SW-A, but why on earth does it?

      I have just installed Kopilot in a Tundra. There is no need to operate the Flaps via the Auxiliary port of Kopilot. You can simply connect the y-cable from your flap servos directly to channel 6 of your receiver. Thus you can use the flaps independently from the Kopilot in all three modes.

    Hi there Andrew, thanks for the video.
    I got 2 kopilots and a flysky fs isx with recievers.
    Am having the same issue with both of my 2 kopilots:
    When in gyro mode ,with throttle on(motor spinning) , after i move the sticks , control surfaces wont go back to neutral position ; as if i added new trims…
    Control surfaces go to neutral position only when i cut the throttle.
    Its like as if putting the throttle on in gyro mode, gives the kopilot a new neutral position.
    Any ideas?
    Did have the same issue?

      Thanks for the reply. I'm curious, as a new flyer is that because of the tx or Rx? I have an i6x tx that I am (trying) to use on a zohd drift, with an ia6b rx. I also use same tx with an a8s Rx on a quad copter. Setting the expo to +30 rather than the negative 30 I initially tried, definitely made the inputs more smooth on the quad. Haven't tried on the Drift with + expo.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  2 роки тому +1

      It's only a transmitter function. Your quad has a flight control board which would be modifying your inputs according to it's programming

    • @calisonic
      @calisonic 2 роки тому

      Sorry, still a bit confused by this. I've got the fs-i6x tx, an FS-Ia6b rx, a kopilot, and a Drift.
      You can change the rates/expo on the fly on the tx.
      If I hold ,say the elevator stick back halfway, the elevator rises. If I simultaneously reduce the elevator expo on the tx (and go into the negative) the elevator will rise more, without me moving the elevator stick (just keeping it help at half pulled back). This does correspond to what the graph shows on the tx as well in the dual rate/exp screen, and would mean at half pulled back, there is more elevator input at a lower expo setting no?
      Thanks

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  2 роки тому +1

      @@calisonic That's the reverse of how mine behaved. Maybe the firmware has been updated since mine? But you're not supposed to use rates and expo on the radio with a flight control board. Does it depend on which mode you're in? See if it works the same way without the Kopilot.

      The ESC has a voltage regulator (BEC) built in. It reduces the battery voltage down to 5V to power the Kopilot, receiver and servos. It's the red wire in the servo style cable coming from the ESC

      Need to test the servos individually with a servo tester or plugged straight into a receiver to see if they are fried. Could have been a bad servo or too much voltage somehow. I guess if you plugged the PWM signal cable into the +5V pins it could fry something.
