Download and print the ( IRON-ON ready) PDF and make a needle pincushion that will be a game-changer in your sewing world.
You can make this with boxed corners or regular pillow corners. I'll walk you through step-by-step and show tips for hand sewing the closure shut.

Jan, what a wonderful project. Even though I'm a beginner and haven't had much opportunity to use different kinds of needles, I can see this project coming in handy when I do. Even though I knew I wouldn't be making one of these, I watched the entire video because the shape and the corner creases intrigued me. I learned MUCH. Thank you!
You are so welcome! Hope you'll give it a go sometime in the future.
You can’t even imagine how helpful this will be.
I bought your PDF for this. Gathered all my tools, fabric etc together and made this pin cushion. I am so pleased with how it turned out. Just as well as I usually don't make things to give away straight off and I made it as part of a present for my sewing guild Christmas break-up party that I am attending on the t6th Dec. After Christmas I will make one for my daughter, good friend and myself but I have a feeling that won't be the end of this. I really like it and can't wait to start using mine, I really need it. Spare needles everywhere!!!! Thank you Jan for this great pin cushion.
That is wonderful. You are so welcome
Your boxed corners are a good addition to this project. About 2 months ago I made a patchwork pillow and boxed it out with an added strip of cloth all around the top and bottom; your method is a quicker way to get the same effect. Thank you!
You are so welcome.
Thank you so much Jan, I really really enjoyed watching you create that useful and helpful little needle cushion. It’s a brilliant idea too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
You are so welcome. Be safe and well yourself. Best wishes!
This tutorial is brilliant Jan! Love your instinct for organization…a woman after my own heart!
Thank you so much!
No more throwing away needles that I have used once but cannot remember what they were for . You are so clever can you think of a way to keep track of how often we used a needle before it goes in used container. Note: I keep my old needles to perforate paper for projects like using a quarter inch graph paper to teach my granddaughter how to sew a quarter inch seam. Old needle works great.
Great idea for using the old needles. As far as tracking how often to change the needles. For sure when you start having a poor stitch you should get a new one, but it's always good to change them periodically.
Cómo se hace?
This is a great tutorial. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Thanks for sharing.
You are so welcome!
What a great idea!! I just had this issue yesterday, trying to use a magnifying glass to see my needle, I normally use a post it note on my machine to identify my needle left in my machine, but never know what the ones are that i took out and left in a bin. Thanks for the video!!
You are so welcome!
I will definitely be making one of these! thank you so much for a fabulous idea Jan :)
You are so welcome

Wow such a great Idea! I enjoy your videos so much.
Thank you so much!
Really smart looking project and smart thinking!
Does your color scheme match that used for needle sizes, I seem to remember there is one.
@@rwind656 yes it does
Thank you for the detailed instructions! I don’t’t have ground walnut and wouldn’t have any use for it afterwards so perhaps I will use stuffing. But could one use rice or something else from the pantry?
Hello and thanks for reaching out. Some use washed sand also. This is very inexpensive to buy at the hardware stores. You may be able to use rice, flax to fill the bottom of the pincushion. But you wouldn't want to fill the whole thing, as that would not be good for the needles. You could also fill it with little pieces of felt scraps cut up in little pieces. I know some who do that. I hope that was helpful.
@@JanHowell thanks!

This is just what I was looking for. Do you have any suggestions if I want to fill mine with steel wool instead of walnut shells?
Never mind...I figured it out.
that is a good idea. What is the best way to dispose of needles? I hate to throw in garbage as the stick thru the bag. so far I have been just putting them in a pill bottle (from prescription pills) labeled “used needles”
Yes, that is a good idea to put them in some kind of container before throwing them in the trash.
A jeweler's loupe is the only way to read some of those needles. Schmetz has color coding. Organ needles....their system is inscrutable.
I know, right!
I need to make a couch or chair not sure what it’s called. I think a caddy. Do you have a video for this? I thank you
Coming soon!
