- Dale Carroll, one of the best trainers of calf horses of his time, takes you step by step of training a green horse through a finish horse. This video shows you step by step taking a green horse through the finishing process. This video was made at my home which I produced, directed and trained all the horses being used. This "How To" video was the best seller of it's time and played a key role in teaching ropers The Art of Training The Calf Roping Horse. After the the success of this video, I then did the same for a video entitled "The Art Of Calf Roping" with Jimmie and Roy Cooper, Ricky Canton & Troy Pruit.
I hope you all enjoy and learn from the best there was!

The one and only Dale Carroll.......... a calf roping legend
zip ties also work for a breakaway
I love how this video shows all the steps and shows different horses at different stages of training. The bits are a lot harder than even what I use on my really hot and spicy barrel horse, who ironically stops like a roping horse, but everything else here is awesome. Really informative and shall be a big help in getting one of my young things able to catch calves for me.
So glad to see this again! I learned things on this video when I was a kid that helped me a long way. Thank you Dale!
I was a very lucky boy.i went to work for Dale when I was 15 and we roped every nite.he took me under his wing,he was like a father to me. Happy roping clyde grinstead
@@clydegrinstead430 hello yes I remember you I worked for Dale as a kid to making Mats with you
WOW. This one is an oldie but goody. I still have this on a VHS tape somewhere here in the house. Pretty sure I bought it when it first came out.
Dale was your Dad Trutt Carroll? Maybe around Kim, Colo. Trutt would rope at Pritchett and Springfield Colo. some and Arkansas valley.
Where u located and do u also train people
Best rodeo coach ever!!! We learned so much.
Hey Dale haven't seen you since I made trailer Mats in galt for you how are the girls like your video
Good video. Straight and to the point
This video is great
Q linia de caballo se utilza para este dporte...
En general es las lineas para un caballo trabajando.. como Doc Bar, Peppy San Badger, Hancock etc
That's animal abuse poor little calf
I know it's crazy but I never liked seeing those calves get roped and tied down in practice or rodeos. I've seen too many have their necks broken in practice. Calf roping at rodeos is not something I watch. I realize it's part of ranch work but you aren't racing a clock. I wish it was no longer in rodeos...too cruel.
I'm over 60 and have Rodeo all my life and I have never seen A calf's necks broke.
Just saying.
@@rickgunier8314 agreed..roped thousands of calves... never even seen one injured.. nice try lady
@@dustinmichael3210 I've seen them injured and carried off on a drag more than once. It's rare but it happens. That's why they require switching them now. It happens. I love rodeo but you two clowns are full of B.S. saying you've never seen one injured.
