I’ve been snowboarding for over 15 years now, and still find awesome hints on this channel. That gap between my heels and bindings u mentioned in the video, I had it like all these years, man! 🤣 Once I got rid of it, my park riding and confidence on jumps just rocketed!
I know this video is 3 years old but I just found it recently. Anyone pretty good at snowboarding that can't get too the next level? This might be the answer. I wasn't applying any of this knowledge to my riding. Last season I was the highlighted rider doing good enough but way wrong. One season applying this info and not only am I carving better, like sick better but my switch is finally getting comfortable (applying same techniques). Learning to butter, anything is possible now. My dudes. This is probably elementary to some but it's must know info. Nice job guys. Shred it!🤘🤙
I've been riding for 15 yrs, and this video REALLY resonated. In heavy pitches, I still tend to *skid* turns and tail steer vs connecting turns on the edge. At issue, is I struggled with an easy way to think about how to engage the edges. Just fantastic video!!!
Dude this is amazing. Thank you. I never thought to push shins forward going to heel edge. Instructor just emphasized squatting. Def want to adjust high backs too
@@XEHuC to help counterbalance and keep your center of gravity over the center of the board while on the heel edge I believe. If you just squat and rock back on your heels without some control you risk slipping out an edge before you can counter it. By adjusting highbacks forward and pushing shins forward when on heel edge you’re maintaining more control on that edge.
damn been riding for 7 years and totally didn't know the heel edge part + if anyone else would've told me this i would've thought they were wrong too... thanks SA, gonna sort out my technique asap!!
Excellent video! Though I feel like I saw way too many people exaggerating the 'push your hip forward' cue and start to lock their hip in a posterior tilt position which is quite unstable. I think the hip should still be hinged a little bit for stability/impact absorption but 'an upright body' is definitely a good cue.
When you show it the slopes are way better prepared. I would prefer a video on a steep, mounded slope like a black one. thats where I get in trouble often
Just sub’d. Love the channel. Been riding for many years self taught. I got a lesson which showed me I had been doing it wrong the whole time, not pushing hips forward. I have really struggled to maintain this technique when the shit hits the fan, quickly reverting to hips back. Any tips on brain reprogramming?
Sorry but I find impossible to push your shins into boots when traversing slope on heel edge. If you do that you lose your edge unless you moved hibacks forward.
Every time I push shins into the front of the boots and push hips forward, I fall in that direction...face down.It is not natural to me at the moment, I feel unbalanced, falling down. What should be the problem? Not enough speed? No fluid movements? thanks man.
Any advice on binding settings? Do you change up your bindings depending on the type of riding you'll be doing for the day? Or do you just stick to one binding setting?

As a snowboarder of 16 years this still helped with small details cheers mate
I've been riding for 20 years but still found this useful! Short, concise, nice!
Fantastic video Ned. I've been struggling on my heel edge and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. This video nailed it!
Awesome video. I really love how you guys break down and simplify things. I tend to ride butt out but now I know how to fix this.

Still can't understand this hint 🤔 Why should you push your board forward when you trying ride on a back side of it?!
Can anyone explain this to me? 🙄

Thanks for the tips, they made such a difference. I was shredding all day at Summit! 😎🥶
Best tutorials out there.

To me you are Dr. Snowboard :-) Greetings from Oberstdorf in Germany - Keep on with your excellent lessions - Thank you.
This is really helpful! Drills, tips and exercises like this are too few online. Thanks!

Perfect once again. I see I need some improvements this makes great sense. I should get someone to film me so I can see all my bad habits and fix.
I hate that I saw this video after coming home from snowboarding today cos it showed me everything I did wrong...Time to head back up the mountain
i am going to utah to snowboard for the first time today!

This is great! Well explained
Just for the pleasure of snowboarding in the neighborhood. Not suitable for the ski slope but very good for children.
Your explanations and tips are great!

Your videos are very useful!thanks
Love it, thank for the video class 😙
Many thanks so much!
Heel edge - why not to give pressure on the highbacks with shins (just like on to edge)? Would it be mistake?
Thanks!
Awesome vid that helped me!
I’m getting allot of strain on my back leg, is this from angles you think or not distributing equal weight on front and back leg?

Thank you, master

it depends which ride you prefer? Are you an all mountain, freerider or freestyle boarder?.
I wish more beginners would watch this vid befor hitting the Mountain 😅
Are you on the ball of your foot doing the toe side drill? I struggle to keep my foot flat in the my boot when turning.
@@SnowboardAddiction Great thanks, I'll look into it.
I don’t see a reply.. what’s was the answer?
Make sure your boots are tight, heel shouldn't be lifting
i didnt get the 3 jumps what are for xD
That skier almost clipped you at the end.
Classic skier doing their best to cause a collision at the end.
This will come naturally in a short time.

Just realized how much longer it takes to come to a full stop with snowboard vs skiis
wait does the snowboard have stuff to hold your feet right
Yes!!!
Shoulder lean helps a ton a beginner
Thanks!
But what about just giving a pressure on a front (or back) foot to make a turn?
Thanks!
Hellow! Nice video. Can any1 type subtitles by english? (I can type russians subtitles)
How can we help to add subtitles? Unfortunately I don’t see an option…
I freaking wish I could stop going that fast on my toe edge
How's it go Ned ?.. Chachacha 😉
Awesome
2:35 stop fast
forward lean is all personal preference man, no need to pressure people into it. Play around with it and find what works best for you.
My buddy rides like that. I wish he would stop being so anti steez.
