Another great Rush review. Always loved that song, maybe because it is not a typical Rush song. Cold fire is also a different song, but the album version when Geddy sings.
I keep coming back to your RUSH reactions/ reviews..you do so many and you do them so well! Appreciate you Kristin! For me its like reviewing the history of 3 old friends and how much l appreciated their musical excellence. 3 normal down to earth guys with enormous talent. Thank you Kristin! ♥️😎🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thank you for this reaction! I took my oldest daughter to see RUSH during this tour in 2007 at Riverbend in Cincinnati. Great show. Sixth row. Never forget it.
Thank you soi much for your reaction. Rush is the veins and the blood of my life. Without them, i'm not here to write you now. Well good job. I'm waiting for the next Rush song.
Yeah I miss them too, Jason. But you know what? Just like everyone else you have to appreciate the time you have with them. Cherish the time you you had. And just know you got to do that! How cool is that? Peace, Phil
I love this song because it's pure Neil to approach his emotions in such a rational way. And I just like the groove of it. Another softer song where Geddy starts singing right away is called "the pass". The subject matter is quite different, though. Instead of a love song like this one, it addresses suicide.
Thanks Kristin. This my favorite song from their studio album "Roll the Bones". Thanks for doing the live version. Love this, and please do more of our other favorite Power Trio, The Warning! ;-)
I grew up listening to Rush, and throughout this time there were songs that appealed to me in different stages. "Subdivisions" spoke to me because I was that kid in that video getting lost in the crowd of a high school that looked exactly like the one in the video in a town I couldn't wait to get out of. I wasn't cool, and I was a kind of an outcast. Similarly, "Something for Nothing", with its Randian themes, appealed to the 16 year old me. Kids like to be told that they're smart and that their future is in their own hands. After a while, Neil Peart started approaching adult themes, and "Middletown Dreams" spoke to my anxieties as a responsible adult. Interestingly enough, it wasn't until I had those adult worries that I understood the final verses of "Subdivisions". Anyway, eventually he took those adult themes and made them into a kind of manifesto. The man who ripped off Ayn Rand in "Anthem", came up with a tract on the politics of the personal I, to this day, completely agree with. And it is a much more satisfying piece of art. That's what "Ghost of A Chance" is. If you are lucky enough to have found your life partner, then this song will make sense.
@@KristinKali Many people believe this to be Rush's best love song. I disagree. It is Neil's best exposition of humanism, which in his view, is best expressed through love. In my opinion Rush's best love song is "Tears", written, interestingly enough, by Geddy Lee.
It is a beautiful song. I hadn't heard it in literally decades. That last reverse strum Alex does at the end gave me goose flesh and chills. I need to listen to this more. Thanks, great video. Keep doing Rush. Another song with early singing is By-Tor and the Snow Dog. Check it.
Ikr, the studio version also has keyboards and an extra guitar layer. This version is weak. That's the thing with Rush, you gotta find the best available version of their songs. On this live album (Snakes and Arrows Tour), they did the best version ever of Dreamline, with an awesome solo by Alex, and a decent version of Far Cry.
They've got 40 years of different! They continually took and incorporated influences from the popular genres of the time, and they weren't afraid of experimenting. Most of the requests you'll get will be mid 70s to early to mid 80s, and through this time there was rock, punk new-wave, reggae elements in some of their songs. There was even a rap (albeit satirical) in "Roll the Bones". They just wrote and played music they enjoyed, without the need to try and stick to any prescribed genre and without the need to force anything (like a badass solo) into a song where it didn't belong. I'd recommend their swansong "The Garden" from the Clockwork Angels tour … that's VERY different for them and bloody excellent! :)
Rush is known for trying many different things: Raggae (The Enemy Within), Electronica (Vital Signs), straight blues (Half their first album), Rap (Roll the Bones), and are known for few songs about love. It is worth one's time to explore the odder Rush tunes.
Hell yeah!! Awesome performance. Bravado tied with The Big Wheel for my favorite song off Roll The Bones. Salutes, wonderful reaction Kali 💯💯👑 You should totally get those Rush Funko Pops or w.e. they're called lol
saw this song live and I was almost crying. This song is so true about love. It is my favorite love song but my favorite song is Tears Of The Dragon from Bruce Dickinson solo not Iron Maiden. Hemispheres, Xanadu, Time Stand Still, 2112 and Subdivisions are my favorites too but the most complete rush album is Presto.
Damn those 3 pop figures look awesome. :D must have at some point... I saw the Snakes & Arrows tour in Oslo Spektrum back in 26th October 2007. This song is actually from the Roll the Bones album from October 1991.
From the mid-80's and up, Rush started doing more and more songs with this kind of a style to them. Not so much about flexing their long-winded Progressive Rock roots, but more about getting right down to business :) Of course, there is a 16 year gap between them releasing the song and performing this version.... If you're in the mood for a song off an album that has most Rush fans divided, try "Mission" form Hold Your Fire. This liver version was for the tour of that same album - Geddy in his prime :) ua-cam.com/video/mNn3zI2bCHw/v-deo.html
Good song but I’m surprised you’re doing the live version. The studio version is much better. Ged’s vocals were just not at their best on the last couple tours; just not that consistent. Didn’t matter much in the hall, but in the recordings & videos...sad to say...
:D!!! One of my fave Alex Lifeson solos, sensual, soulful. And the few "Love Songs" that Rush makes so unique (and Peart lyrically) :). The album is from 1991 "Roll the Bones". "Mystic Rhythms" is another _different_ song from the Power Windows (1985) album that is also unique. Btw - Geddy actually sings the wrong words after the guitar solo (they hadn't performed the song since the album tour) :p.
I think its sounded far better on roll the bones. Geddy's voice was far better then. I saw 'Roll the bones' at maple leaf gardens when the 'Tragically Hip" opened for rush on equipment borrow from Rush. Signals was my first rush album I've been a fan ever since.
@@andy431431 - Well I always believe people need to hear the "studio" tracks 1st, as they were meant to sound, with all the overdubs and so forth that lets a band get creative with the music. Here in Calif. it was either Primus or Steve Morse that opened for them on that tour I believe :). Wow! Just found this, check it out: www.rush.com/tour/roll-the-bones/
A true RUSH fan never gets thrown off... loving you!!!
Another great Rush review. Always loved that song, maybe because it is not a typical Rush song. Cold fire is also a different song, but the album version when Geddy sings.
I miss Rush.

🥰👊❤️🗣Thankyou Dale! 😁🙏💕I understand them so much better now!
For me this is one of the top 3 Rush songs. Beautiful tune by Power Trio.
Please react to The Garden by Rush.
One of their more pop-styled songs, but the message and music is simply the best.
Thank you for this reaction! I took my oldest daughter to see RUSH during this tour in 2007 at Riverbend in Cincinnati. Great show. Sixth row. Never forget it.
Wonderful reaction to a Rush song few have taken the time to listen to. Not your typical Rush tune...and that's what makes it so good.
Thankyou Friend!! this was very very Different!!
Thank you soi much for your reaction. Rush is the veins and the blood of my life. Without them, i'm not here to write you now. Well good job. I'm waiting for the next Rush song.
I always loved that song. Another song of theirs that has a similar feel that is also a long time favorite of mine is one called "Losing It"
Incredibly beautiful song! RUSH are musicians' musicians!
Yeah I miss them too, Jason. But you know what? Just like everyone else you have to appreciate the time you have with them. Cherish the time you you had. And just know you got to do that! How cool is that? Peace, Phil
Every.Single.Time you react to RUSH I stop what I'm doing to watch it
It would be hilarious if everyone in the world did the same thing
Neil, Is such a fantastic song writer just unlivable one after another.....It's Crazy......LOVE!
Was at this show :)

This was a very well said and thoughtful comment thankyou for it

2007 concert. Song is from 1991. One of the most beautiful songs they made. Listen to the album version.
Simply stunning music❤️

Uno de los mejores "solo" de guitarra de Alex !!
I was there Atlanta 2008.

Kali!!! Blindsight just dropped a diss 3 hours ago. Need it!
Got it right now friend!!
Kristin Kali look at you being fast and shit
This was one of my wife and I's songs and guess what, the song was right :(

YES! I love how Alex builds a solo up, then releases tension! His expressive, emotive playing is world class!
