The Air Filter Chamber needs to be larger to reduce the restriction ...but most importantly ...you NEED some form of Velocity stack on the pipe where the air enters the system ...you will lose flow with just a straight pipe entrance.

also id try to add a chamber like a stock intake has. i dont know how much they help but every car has that little spot hanging off the intake to kill the sound
And, maybe, an air filter element that isn't blocked on the up stream end. That has filter media capping the end.
Chuck the air filter it's a boat. Marine engines usually don't have true air filters only spark arrestors. All he needs is to add some type of spark arrestor to the intake.

Looks like that air filter has a solid top. That box is way too close to the sides, and probably restricting airflow.
A bigger box should help.

You'd want a minimum of three inches all around the cone, he just built an airbox without volume.
@@ShanusPortellusVI yeah hindsight I should have stuck with my original plan which was to make a big square box with a front plate for access. But I wasn’t sure it would even work for reducing noise. Now that I know I just wanna build a new one. I went out today and swapped back and it’s for sure noticeable in low end power. Top speed it’s like a 2mph difference. But when you punch it it’s super noticeable.

Florida jet boating on lil tight rivers has the same vibe as Touge drifting on mountain twisty roads. Just no tire smoke really.
He needs to take it to the Everglades! It’s the same, but basically a lot more roads that are narrower
Here me out. Replace the windscreen assembly with one made of cage tube. That way it's 1) strong AF, and 2) rounded corners are less dangerous when you're getting thrown around in the cockpit. Then just weld on flat stock to make the Lexan sheet mounting surface.
I did think I would enjoy all the boat content but I am ! Looks like fun.
Man I love living in my province. Over 100k lakes with rivers in and out of each one and you can jump in any one of them without worrying about anything in the water. Heck you can even drink straight out of 99% of them.

I would be ditching the 3" pipe altogether and extending the 5" into the corner. This way, you still have the quietness and the volumetric efficiency needed for the engine .

I don’t think boats need air filters only a spark arrestor
That air filter probably isn’t rated as a spark arrestor. And that would mean it’s actually a crime to run it on the boat. Sometimes a supercharger is considered good enough and you don’t need a spark arrestor.
Tip on led strips, buy good ones and they will stick forever. I use Govee. I've pulled one of their tv strips off of an old tv (hard to get off is an understatement) and put them onto another. That was over a year ago and zero issues. It might as well be vhb it sticks so well. Give them a try yo!

One option for more secure attachments vs velco if necessary, is weld a c shaped bracket to the aluminum so you can screw/bolt attachments to that without worrying about pinholing the hull maybe? Like the c shaped speaker boxes you made, but smaller and application specific.
1. Looks like the vertical support bracket for the right side is bent / buckled from the impact.
2. Check the wide open throttle RPM with each intake. That will tell you what intake is lease restricted.

I’m surprised that going out without another boat with you like you do, that you don’t have a 2-way marine radio or CB, unless of course you have cell coverage on the river. With the Garmin you can give someone your position and they can come get you if the boat broke leaving you dead in the water.
Correct and using the same logic if you are dead in the water, but what happens if the recovery boat breaks?, always call for 2 recovery boats otherwise you will have 2 boats dead in the water 🇺🇸
Hey taylor most if not all marine engines dont have true air filters, only spark arrestors. Chuck the filter and add some type of spark arrestor into the intake.

19:30 First off, the lighting turned out freaking Awesome! I do wonder why not weld bolts on from the inside? Now that they are in, before it gets wrapped, you could zap the bolts, so you never need to access the head again.
I had the same question with the sticky pads, especially in the engine bay. Why not just cut 1 inch of aluminum rod, bend it so it stands off the body, and weld it on. Then you can zip tie to the rod.

Now that the windshield is damaged maybe you can trim part of it so it can fit around the LED light when open
Make the front window section removable like Jeep doors. Then stow it attached to bottom of the rear engine cover.

Can do a quick back to back test, with the filter pipe in and out, with and with out the filter in that location, putting the filter in the new end point, just facing back.

Boat's coming along nice, I can see how much better you like it over the smaller boat. One thing I liked about the smaller boat was the lower "windshield" for lack of better name. Have you thought about cutting the windshield down a bit? Although it is nice being able to tuck down behind it.
Put a small vent near the intake to try and pull in some fresh air .
Make the middle window slide in and out like jeep hinges, then have a spot to store it when you're ripping.
If you really wanna make those bolts disappear, you could weld the tops then grind them flush! ✨
Put some sea deck on those rear seats so the riders have a bit of cushion and aren’t sitting directly on hard hot metal. Thinking your air box may be a little too restrictive.

If you built a chambered airbox a lot like a bandpass speaker box that should give you the desired result without being restrictive

Mount that bag higher if you want to keep it dry. You know water's going to get into the boat eventually.
Build a bigger box and run a bigger air filter. And it might help to wrap it in something sound deadening like dynamat.

The jet boaters you’re referring to are the people driving these things in rapids. Best believe if I’m ever in the rapids I’m wearing the best life jacket I can get. But I’m just cruising around the river. If I felt my life was at risk. I would absolutely wear one.
yeah, im sure when a 15 yo kiddo comes at you from a side creek on a turboski doing 60 or 70, and t bones you, or bigger boat, you'll be fine, while floating unconscious 😅.

that 360 camera when doing the horseshoe bends is sweet.
It will show your GPS location once you take it out of that shop. Don't have to wait till your on the water.
Mine has a thing where it shows how many satellites it can see. And it does take a few minutes before it has enough for a solid location.

since you have both intakes, take them both with you on the water and use an app to measure speed and acceleration.. direct comparison back to back.

You should make a fixture for your belt grinder that allows you to hold a piece of metal by the center so you get a perfect circle when you grind.
When you go back out with the other intake, use your GPS to compare the speed over time on both intakes. Basically use it like your Draggie. This won't be exact, but it will be the closest you can get.
Go to the salvage yard and find a nice airbox.
Check the Garmin top speed. Hook up laptop to diagnostic port and check parameters of map sensor.
3d print brackets to support the center of the light strips to eliminate the double sided tape. I know you have a printer
I would definitely remake the filter setup if it is restrictive. Might as well make it the best it can be. Big cone filter, big chamber and make sure to put a velocity stack on the inlet. That always picks up airflow over just a straight open tube. I'm sure you have seen the salad bowl on Engine Masters

That boat needs a LS swap or some crazy sounding ripper under the cowl.. 600 HP turbo Hayabusa engine. With a giant Busa window banner..
I think you need to fab the intercooler above the lid to get air flow and build a sick intake intercooler setup.

I bought a civic once that had an interfoooler on it (intercooler with a pod filter on the end.). All the piping was the same size as the throttle body. That thing was a DOG. Super slow. Took the piping off and stuck the pod filter on the throttle body and it came back to life.
You’re gonna need either way bigger piping or get rid of it all together

Check the data see if it’s making less boost. Also, just take the whole airbox off altogether and just run a filter and see if it feels the same.

I wonder if that 5 inch pipe is too tight around that filter and is restricting air flow.
You could try to just run the smaller pipe to the corner and just put the filter on the end open like before. The longer intake pipe should cut down on some of the high pitch resonence on its own reducing the supercharger whine.
An air box with with fresh air flow and maybe some sound deadening would be the best option, i think, but definitely the most work. But i know how you like big fab projects.😅
