$79 Huffy Cranbrook Men's Cruiser Bicycle from Walmart

- The Huffy Cranbrook is a men's cruiser bike available for $79 at Walmart. It is a single speed comfort bike with 26" tires, a steel frame, and a classic bicycle look. It looks like an old retro bike your grandfather would have ridden.
The bike is classy and well designed. It is no-frills, but that's part of the beauty. The paint is a glossy cranberry color and the accents are flat black. The bike is all metal - including the fenders. The single-speed drivetrain features coaster brakes for easy stopping.
Functionally it is exactly what you would expect for a beach cruiser. At $79 it is very affordable and looks and rides like it costs much more. The only downsides are the cosmetic quality of the welds. They don't look good at all. They seem to be structurally sound, but look like they were hurried. I can only assume that they will likely be the source of future rust as it's unlikely, based on their appearance, that much attention was paid to ensuring they were properly prepped for paint.
Overall this appears to be a decent bike for the money and I look forward to using this as a project bicycle which includes an 80cc 2-cycle engine kit.
Stay tuned to KevCentral for more great bike videos. Thanks for watching!

I weight 300 lbs and I got this bike last yr it's j held up and helped my health greatly
That's awesome to hear! Bikes are great for healthy exercise. I'm really skinny, but was really out of shape (kind of slumped back into lazy recently, need to get back at it), so biking was pretty much the only real exercise I got. And its a lot of fun! Keep at it and have fun!
Nice! Keep at it man
michael S nice!
Such a relief! I weigh 300 lbs also and I just ordered one
Do yourself a huge favor and look into Electra cruisers! Seriously, it's worth the extra cash to invest in something that will ride better and last!
I have just brought home my Dad's 1993 Murray Monteray and it is an almost identical bike but without fenders. It is a little rusty, rims and chain, but still going. The aqua blue paint on the bike still looks great though.I haven't ridden a bike in 20+ years but am enjoying getting back into it.
I am dying over here cuz everything you mentioned I had to do like walking the bike up the hill.
Thanks for all the reviews, i'm loving your channel! Seems like a good option for the price.
Great bike for a project.. I might get one. Thank you very much for the good video.
I just bought this exact bike today and I love it! I changed the grips and seat. I also had to tighten some nuts and inflate the tires.
I’m 6’2 240lbs and I fit great on the bike. Just raise the seat and cruise!👍🏻
Congrats!
I built a motor on that exact bike and it was great
Just built one lol
@@JayDee-eu7hr just bought this same bike for $80 and I'm thinking of buying a motor. Is it worth it?
@@sonymicronin yes it is man! I’ve had a blast on mine all summer !
I love all your bike videos keep up the good work
I love these kind of videos it’s really helping me find a good bike❤️
+Trent Creech Thanks for the comment!
I'm pretty excited to watch your conversion to motor bike!
Just looked at it, now on sale at $88. Simple local bike and with a cheap light kit would be good for exploring and of course "walk of shame up a hill" , hey uphill slow / downhill fast ! If it get s you in the fresh air exercising it s a good thing.
Got one for Christmas, I love it especially for the price. The welds are solid and neatly done. The paint job is pristine. The seat is uncomfortable, springs pressing thru. The rims are warped what a shame. But like you say it is a gateway bike. After 30 years of not riding I am happy. Next bike will be a Priority Coast or Classic plus. Thanks for all the great reviews.
I bought this and happy with it so far. Had to go through 3 or 4 to find the one without dents, no scraping or squeaking. And the brakes work! Road it in the garden area. Make sure you test drive first. Hope it holds up, cause I bought a basket too.🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
I have a dark blue cranbrook that I put a motor kit on and it does great. Had it about six months now and still going strong. I put a front brake on it also to help out that coaster brake cause when you’re going 25-30mph that coaster alone doesn’t cut it, trust me, had a couple of close calls before I put the front brake on.
I guess Walmart decided that bent rims are a feature, because they raised the price by 10 bucks to 89.00
Lol
My Walmart must have the one's with two bent rims @ $99.00 , Ha,ha,ha!!!
I payed a 98 for mine 😐
dylan hobbs me too
$100 today
I just bought this bike today after watching this review. It’s awesome! I plan on adding a rack for my surfboard, a light, and a horn. It was inexpensive but good quality and very comfortable. Thanks for the review!
How has the bike been for you?
Great review, thanks. A bike for the price is just a gift. You can ignore the little things. Much can be easily set up yourself. Quite a decent bike)
I love those engine kits I have made 3 bikes use this engine. Great fun building them just a shame they can’t be road legal over here but the fun is in the building for me
picked up a matte blue version off a friend for $50. had 24" wheels on it. but i rebuilt it, and now its my fav ride!
I finally bought myself a new Cranbrook like yours from Walmart. Here, in Hilo Hawaii, they go for about $92.00 plus tax. There was three way up in the bike racks, and I had an employee get one of them down. It looked good. The wheels seemed to run true. I like that if has very little chrome. Even the handle bar is painted black. Rust is a constant problem here. Tomorrow I'll hopefully take it out on a ride. Just going up and down my driveway, the coaster braked doesn't seem too good. Hopefully it won't be like the Nel Lusso you bought and returned, or I may have to return this one also.I had already thought about buying and installing a front wheel v brake kit to assist the coaster brake, and as a safety item should the coaster brakes fail totally.
I say the Huffy nailed the looks on the Cranbrook. The paint job looks really nice. The welds aren't too ugly. The black fenders and frame paint are unscratched. I wonder if I emailed Huffy, if they might send me another rear wheel if the coaster brakes turn out weak. I know Walmart will take it back for 30 days too.
I had wanted a bike that came with a rear rack, but I think I can add one later if I keep the bike.
That's gonna be awesome! Can't wait. You're channels great mate, keep it up :)
I am excited to see what it would look like in the future 🙂👍
I just bought the nel lusso and thought about adding an engine kit but ive never done it before and dont really have help but i might try in the future
Mine set me back $89. in April 2018. My impressions are mostly favorable. I put a 49 cc 4 stroke (eBay kit) on it. Had to heat and bend the crank arms for clearance - the kit ones don't work with the big frame bottom bracket. It can be wrung out to 50 kph, about 31 mph, carrying 205 lbs., but as the saying goes, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." Seems happy at 25 mph. I removed the coaster brake internal workings and installed front and rear caliper brakes using a single lever. Changed the forks for spring ones, and replaced the handle bars with ones I like better. Motor is buzzy as the speed gets higher, but is quiet and calm at moderate speeds.
I love the colors on that bike
I always look forward to the next video
Just bought one ...... I like it ... It cost 88 bucks ..... Nice ride from work to home :)
Bring'n the kid out in me too! Love the idea
Looking forward to your bike mods.
As of today, Oct. 10, 2020, the price has been increased to $98.00. I appreciate these videos though. Great info. Thanks👍
Great review of a big box bike, I'm considering buying one for riding around town for errands and stuff. The only thing I would do differently is I would pack the headset, crank set, and both hubs with grease because those manufacturers only put a tiny bit on the bearings and those are always the first components to go.
Worked on my daughter's old huffy that had parked outside behind the shed for a few years and discovered the headset and axle bearing cups are plastic...explains the $89..
Even though this is an older video I'd like to point one thing out for those that like to motorize these- I recommend getting a better saddle. I'm 25 but my friends and I had a lot of these walmart cruisers and all the pacific low quality springer saddles had broken on us. I would not trust my rear end on one if going motorized speed.
I got this bike an upgraded to 4 stroke because all hills were i live! Only time use motor get tired! I buy ranger 15 speed 30 years ago to look good when buy from walmart!
Bought my daughter a Cranbrook today. It also had a warped front wheel.
I bought one of these in the box with less damage than the one you purchased, the back rim was bent like a question mark. You got lucky, had to return mine and of course they're out of stock now.
His Smooth Southern accent is so charming! I absolutely dispise how Northerners call Southerners accents "ugly" or "not articulate". This guys voice is the definition of articulate!
SURENITY ! I never heard northerners say any such thing. Too bad regional dialects seem to be dying out.
nice design and color combination👍🏼😍
Excellent video.
Been 8 months... I'm guessing you never got it to work?
Coaster brakes are pretty annoying on motorized bikes.
@@lance_with_both_nuts why ? I'm about to build 1 and would love some advice thanks
@@jaysaenz4964 you just won't stop all that weight with a coaster brake, it's going to have like a 40+ feet braking distance from 25 mph, not ideal for an emergency stop
coaster brakes don't work at all on a motorized bike because you need to mount the sprocket on the left side of the hub it's impossible to run a coaster brake and the motor the same
I bet his wife said it was too dangerous, I bet she had a yard sale just to make him sell it...
I bought this bike and I love it. I went into Walmart recently and it is now priced at $168. Glad I brought it before the price went up. Do you know anything about the new Schwinn siesta bike that is out at Walmart? Great video.
Can we get an update for this?! I've been wanting to the exact same project.
Should convert it into a Klunker for the time being. It would be interesting to see your take on a Klunker and it wouldn't be that expensive at all.
Both bikes are basically good. I have the Nel Lusso, but I am probably going to cut off that back rack and add a friction-drive motor to it. May not go through with that and get the Cranbrook bike, as well to do some motor mods application to it. I removed that silly Huffy medallion and center plastic piece on the Nel Lusso and will be replacing it with a ped-slicer of some sort (a license plate holder for motorcycles, especially seen on sidecar rigs if you don't know what a ped-slicer is). I have a cart to pull with the Nel Lusso for my dogs. Hughes Motorized videos on UA-cam show both bikes and the specifics about slapping a motor onto each. Me, I will be using the 4-stroke engine as my first project, but maybe a 2-stroke later on. Thanks for posting. P.S. the Cranbrooks are now running about $98 bucks at Walmart, excluding taxes. You got a bargain at the price you quoted. Must have been Christmas time when you bought it. :-)
I would love to have one of these
Good bike so far!
Looks badass.
Just bought one :)
Got a chance to ride this, not by buying it, but rented it at a beach. I was a comfortable ride from the beach to our cabin my family rented. I would totally recommend buying it, just not trying to do tricks on it, like I did, almost died.
I got a 26 inch Huffy Cranbrook and yes hills are a nightmare
The quick release seat post is more important for a cruiser than any other bike. Most bikes are ridden by a single user who usually keeps the seat post at a set position. Cruisers are lent around. Recently a friend had me ride his daughter's 24 inch wheel cruiser to make a quick trip from his house to the fishing grounds. A quick release post means most anyone can ride any cruiser.
Good point
I built one of these and the coaster brake won't work with the kit, you will have to add brakes
I have 3 genesis beach cruisers but i have to fix 2 to 3 things on them i already replaced the tires with fat ones now they are almost there
I bought this bike this summer for my trip to Florida and I must admit for the price (which is less than the price of certain tires) it works pretty well, in two weeks I rode it over 400 milew and there’s a few things you should know before buying, first of all, it’s built like a tank, so no worries about the frame breaking, it’s surprisingly smooth, but my only complaint would be the really cheap tires, I skidded twice and went through the rear tire in 2 days, and it was so thin that I got a flat, so maybe a brand new set of tires would make the bike an absolute beast for the price because I managed toget it up to 28 mph, unfortunately I had to leave it down in Florida because bringing it back on the plane would have been too costly, but it’s a great bike for the price, would highly recommend
Really? I had my original tires for at least 4 months .....
That Bike would look great with a banana seat and a set of ape hangers. Here's hoping since it is a simple design that they put some quality into the frame... then it would be a really nice bike.
Yo kev central, I got a Cranbrook too ,i,m going friction drive, very nice vid.
👍🏼
My sister has one of those and the wheele was also out of tru
I have the same huffy cranbrook and the same motor kit, it goes pretty well not to much vibration one thing you should probably get for it, a sproket hub adapter. Dont use the spoket that comes in the kit it puts pressure on the spokes and could potentially bend the spokes and its not driving the whole wheel either. So i would invest on getting a spoket hub adapter if you are on slight hills and flat roads get a 40-44 tooth spoket, the stock chain tensioner that comes with the kit is fine but it does chatter a litte bit. I have a 44 tooth spoket and it tops out at 25mph. Use a 4 tanks of 16:1 ratio gas mix to brake in the motor, after that use 24:1 or if you want to run a little hotter and a little faster use a 32:1 mix. 16:1=8oz per gallon 24:1:=5.2oz per gallon 32:1=4oz per gallon. For the firt two tanks of gas try not to go over half throttle and the last two brake in tanks dont go full throttle for long. Check the spark plug after the break in if it is very oily then you are running rich if it is dry then you are running lean. After the break in lube the cluch take off the side cover and dap some grease in between the two gears you can use high temperature bearing grease you can even use WD-40. After the break in check all nuts and bolts make sure nothing is loose. Hope all this information helps you build!!!🖒
Just so you know the spoket hub adapter attaches to your Hub and does not put pressure on your spokes like the stock one that comes in the kit it takes 5 minutes to install the other one takes 2 hours. Hope this helps!!!🖒
Moto Shift except that it almost costs the same as the bike
i found this exact bike on my morning walk this morning it was in three pieces and a bit rusted. it was ditched on the side of the road. it looked bad at first glance but once i got it home and i took all the dead grass off, i was surprised to find a bike with major promise ...in the end i will attach my 2-stroke engine and a fresh new paint job it will be a smash to ride
I put an 80 cc engine on my 2020 Huffy Cranbrook what smaller diameter front chain wheel can I buy, and where can I find it to make this bike easier to pedal to get the bike moving from a standstill? I need overcome the engine compression and added weight to make starting easier. Thanks
My daughter's bike had that kind of "soft" paintjob that would scratch easily. So I bought a can of clear coat and sprayed it on... and problem solved!
+MasterBata Thanks for the tip. The clear didn’t start falling off later?
Had it for two years, and it's fine. I just wiped the frame with clean cloth and rubbing alcohol beforehand.
What type of clear coat? Paint for steel?
MasterBata thanks for the heads up
"the push of shame" haha
Wowww 80CC motor. Can't wait!
I motorize these with 2 stroke gas engines all the time. Sturdy frame. Wheels are meh..
Just need to add a cheap front brake , and grease all the bearings and internals of the coaster hub. Works great
How do you ask for a bike in the back like you did on the cranbrook
I'm 6'4 180lbs. Does anyone know if this bike is too small for me? Even if I raise the seat all the way up
I love my Cranbrook
Glad I subscribed :)
What a machine!
When are you going to put the engine kit on?
What kind of seat tube angle does this have?
any updates to the motor on the bicycle?
You get what you pay for.. The chain will always come off,.. The tires that comes with are made out of butter,.. The welding inside the rims is very bad causing flats unless you sand it.. But my issue was the chain coming off
Are you trying sound smart. Do good job!!!!!!!
An engine to go FAST but no front brake to stop fast?
Can you fit a 4t motor on this bike ?
Was there ever an update posted on this?
If you put that engine on upgrade chain I broke mine 3rd start. Remove fenders , the engine vibes will rattle it lose and wrap around wheel like mine did. Hand brakes !!
LMAO.....Got a visual of you flying over the handlebars and landing in a tree, Ha,ha,ha !!!!
I got one of these for my fiance, unfortunately after a couple months of ownership, the coaster brake let go, and wrapped around, bending the chainstay and seatstay... bent it back as well as I could with a brass hammer and a propane torch...
I thought that coaster brakes where weak because I am older and heavier than years back until I got the Mongoose Beast the coaster brakes are just as I remember work like a charm
The thing I like is you only buy a few bikes because you swap the crap ones with other ones and do reviews and the circle continues that’s cheap bikes for you
Did you ever install the engine?
So did you put the motor on the bike? THAT'S the video I want to see :D
the quick release on the seat is for pulling seat and tube off fast to beat big dogs or other assholes if needed
Scrap the seat and fenders. Replace the stem and bars. That would be a good start to making it a nice cruiser.
Gotta agree with the climbing. I rode a rental and the bars are in my crotch the second I stood up
I think the people that build two stroke gas engine powered bikes, use the Cranbrook quite often. You might look into getting a front wheel hand brake kit for this bike. Here is a Columbia bike that comes with coaster rear and a hand brake on the front:
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A7Z20RI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_6?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
Seems like a good idea to me, should you find that the coaster brake is overworked once you add the gas engine. Looking forward to your project, and hope you cover the problems and how you got around them.
You should do a review on a Kent kz 2600 mountain bike it’s full suspension on Amazon it’s 184$ but it’s on sale for 164$ I’m gonna get it if I can find out if it’s any good

My cousin had the first bike u bought, and put a motor on it to
Nel lusso cruiser looks different in this video can anybody figure this out why
I love that Nike looks great but would be a little worried about those welds when you crash with the motor and high speeds.
Show the spacing of the rear tire from touching
I got hit by a car on this bike and it got totaled but I want to get it again or get the Mel lasso
Just curious. Why don't you like cruisers that has gears on it? Is having one without it better? Thanks!!
I don’t have a problem with geared cruisers. I like the look of the single speed better, but my city has enough hills that single speed heavy cruiser bikes can be punishing.
Did you ever make a follow up to this Video with the Finished Product?
With the motor kit...nope. I still have the kit, and the bike waiting for it to be installed, but it lost relevance when eBikes started to become more affordable. That said, I will eventually get around to the install.
I talked to a small engine guy& he told me because of the torque even a 2 stoke could break the frame. With the marginal welds I would be carefully. Good luck.
For aluminum frames not steel frames
ebay gas motor kit?
+BunsNation Yep. Complete with a Black paint job of equally questionable quality.
I just saw this bike at walmart. I'm 6'2 and hate those handle bars. I'm wondering if I can just bend them straight with a pipe bender at HomeDepot. LOL
Lol
wait...you need front n back brakes n sealed bearings to put that engine on it? disk brakes would be better. i blew several coasters up as a kid. once had smoke coming from hub. completely melted it! 🍻
Standing on a beach cruiser sucks no doubt. Witch would be better for a motor the cranbrook or the huffy nel lusso
If you put an engine on it, I hope you find a way to install a front brake. That coaster brake, especially since it is on the back, isn't going to cut it. Also beware of that cheesy clamp on chain tensioner that comes with those cheap Chinese kits. Better to use an engine mount chain tensioner. I had one of those cheap ones (so cheap you could bend it with your fingers) get pulled into the rear wheel, locking up the wheel, ripping out several spokes, and causing me to crash. And I was riding in the bike lane, with a sidewalk on one side and speeding traffic on the other. Fortunately I fell on the sidewalk. I got banged up a bit, but if I had gone down on the other side, I would have been run over and probably killed. I now use a much higher quality bike (got it used from Craigslist) and a rear mount friction drive kit, which uses a genuine Honda motor. I use a motor because I am disabled, and can no longer pedal enough to get anywhere.
Get a electric bike those bolt on kits are dangerous. Sprocket bolted to spokes is dangerous. 2 chains on one bicycle is dangerous.
