Man , i wish i lived in LA. I wouldve done the headgasket replacement and engine rebuild/replacement for free. Im a student mechanic and want to learn as much as possible. I have recently started working for a local race team. They compete with a e46 330ci and e36 328i , so im kindoff familiar with the platform.
Had this same thing happen to my e46 325Ci last year. So I did some research and bought an ebay headgasket kit and fixed it for 100$ and some elbow grease.
I've been there before. Some ditz drove into my beloved modified car and I was faced with a six month saga to get it fixed (rare car, rare parts). I actually had to buy, tax and insure another one just to swap the parts over. The other one was hundreds of miles away. Meantime I had to walk to work at 5am in the freezing winter. All for love of the car. Sold it at a huge loss shortly after.
I would recommend a motor from a salvage yard. You can find a local recommended mechanic that can fix it. There are a lot of mechanic that are sick of manufacturers taking advantage of mechanics cutting labor times.
Move it on. You can make a few k back in prized bolt on parts. Had the same happen to my E46 an the cars are at that point now where unless you have a garage and can get another lump delivered it's just not worth it. Went for an msport e91 and couldn't be happier
Very sorry about the Z3 man. Had the same experience with my earlier car so I know how this feels. I hope you'll find a beautiful car and will have a lot of cool experiences with it. 👍👍👍🤙
i had a v12 jag and both gaskets went and that was all,,,,,worth getting garage to check if anything has warped as my jag cost £600 to fix....fingers crossed
Hey man really sorry about the Z3, only we car guys truly understand that the car you drive becomes attached to you and you become attached to it, it becomes part of your life, and even, part of you, parting with a car is difficult, but you will for sure find a better one, you might not think that now, but with time you will see that this particular car isn't the be all to end all! If I may make some suggestions for moving on: Toyota Supra MK4, Nissan Skyline R32-R34, Mazda RX-7, Miata, etc
Sad to see the Beamer go mate. Been there too and had to let the car go. The best way to get over it for me was focus on the next one and just go for it. Crack on mate. Things will work out.
Damn, that absolutely sucks, sorry about that mate, the Z3 is such a cool car. Hope you find a solution that works out. I wouldn't have thought the head gasket would've gone by now, didn't you buy it on about 80k miles?
Sorry to hear that man, it’s sucks, and it’s okay to be bummed out sometimes just a part of being human, but true to your nature you’re already looking for positives out of the situation and I’m convinced that’s more a part of having a positive attitude than bullshitting people just because it seems pleasant. Ultimately that’s how we become more genuinely ourselves by allowing feelings to come and go without judgment. I wish you all the best I’m sure you’ll get it all figured out in due time. Please tell Diesel I said hi 😂
I am confused. You were talking about that temporary gasket dealer stuff? If you have to remove the head you may as well just get a new gasket as they aren’t even expensive it’s just the labour itself but you can do it
She gave you happy memories and wasn't a curse. If you let the Z-Blu go now someone will take her on as a passion project. You will see someone else drive her. That would suck too, except, I sense you have already moved on.
Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just swap another engine into it? I’m in Australia and have an E36 and the 1.8L and 1.9L engines are really cheap to replace. Not sure what it’s like in the US but I think it’s worth a shot.
@@adamswordsroughcuts7548 see if you can get one that has been compression tested and all that maybe? Then again I guess it depends if you want to go through the whole process but in the end it’ll cost less than get everything machined again :)
This is where you reach out to your viewers and ask one of us to fix it for you maybe hook us up with something cool from you or Michael!!! Some of us are mechanical inclined just don’t have a shop to perform repairs!!
There looks like a man who although bummed about a mechanical, has that Next Car glint in his eye! ha.. Sure you could keep the Z running another 6m with little money, but that’s not much fun is it.. Looking forward to the next car mate 👍
Dude....NOOOOOOO! What an absolute bummer. Could you maybe garage it and keep stashing a few pennies away until you have enough cash to throw at it? Without sacrificing upcoming projects?
That's gutting mate, just before Christmas too! 👎 I think you should go either boxter or some kind of American muscle car next! In the meantime see if Michael will loan out the Rolls! 👍👍
Damn man if it hadn’t over heated yet you could just replace the gasket. No way you’d need to replace the head or block if you didn’t over heat it and warp the head!!
adam are you sure you have a blown head gasket? it runs too good. hmm maybe it is something else that could be a vacuum leak or bad thermostat not opening or closing all the way
check your dipstick for a milky like substance from coolant and oil mixing together. or under engine oil cap for build-up. or check for bubbles in the overflow tank.
Stop your shit bro!!! You have skills and relationships. Be resourceful. Partner with a shop and exchange your skills for the service. Make them a dope video (or 3), get a sponsor for your UA-cam channel and have THEM pay, middle man some watches from Seth and save $$$$ for a month.
That sucks, sorry to see this. You can see how bummed you are about it. The joys of motoring. That's why I drive a £500 car. Well actually it's just because that's all I can afford. 😂. Hopefully you find something you love to replace it, and the monetary losses are as small as possible.
@@adamswordsroughcuts7548 These engines are quite tough and very rarely have problems. Cooling system needs a refresh every 50-80k to prevent it from overheating again. The engines are easy to sort and will definitely be alot cheaper, as the car seems looked after and worth it to be saved.
You could buy another one and transfer the pieces to it, for the same price as the the repair.

Sorry about the Beamer mate . As you say open topped driving on the PCH is dreamy .... Hope your next car is as fun 🇬🇧
Damn, that absolutely sucks, sorry about that mate, the Z3 is such a cool car. Hope you find a solution that works out. I wouldn't have thought the head gasket would've gone by now, didn't you buy it on about 80k miles?
Yeah had it for 25k miles :(
Adam the quality of your videos is always so good
Hah thanks, this was all just shot on my phone!
Okay dude. You are going very fast. Nice speed from Merce to BMW.

same boat with my B5.5 Passat 1.8T wagon...not a blown head gasket though.
Sorry about the car mate......I really hope you get a car just as fun....Love from Fans.....💜❤️💗
I am confused. You were talking about that temporary gasket dealer stuff? If you have to remove the head you may as well just get a new gasket as they aren’t even expensive it’s just the labour itself but you can do it
Sorry to hear this. But I am sure to take the right decision so everything will end up good. Stay Safe 🙏

RIP Z3. Your videos made me want one but insurance would be extrusionate for me in the UK
Keep it up
And a lot of rust issues to contend with.
Sometimes being ‘bummed out’ isn’t a bad thing. It’s just due respect before the next milestone comes along .
Was that a Jeremy Clarkson sign off Adam.... "and on that bombshell" 😂😂
Hey man, what did you use to film this in such good 4k60fps, particularly the opening shots from the back of the car?
Hah this was entirely shot on my iPhone 11 Pro Max
I'd get the head gasket sorted it's not the case the head is not warped bad or it would be pissing out coolant and over heating straight away
That's Tough, question, what's the camera u use in the intro pls?
This whole episode was shot on my iPhone 11 Pro Max
unlucky man, but cars come and go, change will exciting.
Listen carefully... I hear Scotty K in the Distance.... 'Never ending Money pit, plastic crxp etc.' =)'

👍 sorry about the car Adam something better is coming your way😃⭐
Just consider it another unfortunate victim of 2020, move on to bigger and better things in what will hopefully be a much better new year.
Keep your head up Adam 👍
Fix it, keep it
Hod Rods Are An Expensive Hobby Bro
Great video Adam 👌
Dude....NOOOOOOO! What an absolute bummer. Could you maybe garage it and keep stashing a few pennies away until you have enough cash to throw at it? Without sacrificing upcoming projects?
Damn bro this sucks but thats the circle of life man
It sounds way over the UK repair cost, id get it fixed, and you'll have many more years of z3 fun. Or use the $6-10k on a deposit for a brand new z4
That's gutting mate, just before Christmas too! 👎 I think you should go either boxter or some kind of American muscle car next! In the meantime see if Michael will loan out the Rolls! 👍👍
Found the channel Cheesecake! Bummer on the Beamer man!
Repair the beamer Adam!!!!!! Believe me
Damn man if it hadn’t over heated yet you could just replace the gasket. No way you’d need to replace the head or block if you didn’t over heat it and warp the head!!
its not mean to supercharge!
Survey it’s not that much to have the head skimmed new gasket and labour surely not mate ?
Store the car and when you have the money totally available without even missing it then do the repair and relive your youth. Good luck.
Yeah... no good throwing good money after bad
Turn it into an electric swap project
Hey James Bond had to give up the Z too! You’ll find another ✌️🤙
Tomorrow things may change. Don’t make a decision just yet. What happened to the Merc?
My z head gasket repair was £1200 bro. Summer 2019 In Scotland. 10 grand lol
Lucky boy
Bring on the Z3M...
I’ve already got a replacement 😈
Let her go. She's helping you make room in the garage for whats coming next :)
could you not buy a replacement engine or engine swap it?
Yea but I’d be in the same place not knowing when that one might let go
@@adamswordsroughcuts7548 true true, could you ask Michael if you could borrow the engine out of his ‘BMW’ as you’ve called it a few times 🤔😂
I’d say strip it to the bones!
(Doors, wheels, hood, etc!)
Is this common with vf cars? Or did you just drive yours too hard too often
It’s common with those engines apparebtly
are you selling the vf kit?
I have a 2001 z3 maybe we could make a deal
Nope, gonna sell the car as-is.
Bummer!
adam are you sure you have a blown head gasket? it runs too good. hmm maybe it is something else that could be a vacuum leak or bad thermostat not opening or closing all the way

Yeah they smoke tested it
maybe a 2nd opinion on the diagnosis?
Doesn’t mean new head just because head gasket gone
Buy a sl55 amg ,thats a fun car
Broooo I always pass that shop in my z3 haha damn this vid is such a trip.
Adam, get a salvage car from copart which has read end damage and swap the fuc* engine, dude it would be epic 👍
Could you find another BMW and just swap the parts?

Already got something ;)
These engine easy to work on, why not diy and do video series.

Don’t ever buy a bmw if it’s over 10 years old. surprised the z lasted this long
Sell the Bimmer..someone will do the work.
Get rid dude part ex it for a newer version 👊
What about a recon engine? Come on adam.
Cars are like relationships....How do you get over one.........Get yourself another one 👊💥🏎🏎🏎

After this vid i went out to my car and kissed it! The wife is currently looking at me strange! 🤪
Treasure it!
Just remember all the times your car looked at you weird for kissing your wife... payback time
Supercarblondie bought a new BMW for her employee ,producer Michael you know, why not😀
Scrap it, pull all your stuff off and get another one.
id say LS swap it
Buy another one, and sell the old one, so you can salvage what you have and keep the car you love.
Just buy another Z3 and transfer all your parts from the old Z3 to the new Z3
Ask producer Michael to help pay 4 it.
Good bye beamer 😢
🥺
*Shouldn’t have supercharged it!*
Just strip the good parts off and buy another Z3 and put them on that.
Put one of them us create engines in it mate make so much power ahaha
What happened? It’s an emotional decision. So sad. Don’t make a decision now. Just wait.
Can you put a price on happiness?
Will another car make you smile like that car does?
If it makes you happy invest in it and pay to fix it.
Put an M3 v8 in her
Aww man, lame. Those are neat cars, and... I have seen the future, so.... :-)
Time to get a better engine in or just get something new, change is good! All a man needs is his dog. Cars and women come and go
Bit of chemiweld and she'll be right
damn where you live is a rip off
Sucks :( Much love
I have the same car for sale! Hmu
99 2.5L, 5 speed, Atlanta blue with tan interior. I’m in Long Beach! Hmu!
Who pays 6-10k for headgasket change lol. Just buy a new engine and swap it. No more than 2k in labour..
Three garages all said the same thing. Don’t wanna swap in another unknown engine
