I remember when Arsenio first introduced Chante on his show, he said that she reminds him of Diana Ross. I was like, "WHAT?! Diana can't sing like Chante." But I get that he's talking about the way she starts off her songs. Anyway. Chante is often compared to Minnie Riperton - like others who whistle - but Chante surpasses Minnie because Minnie had "help" from people like Deniece Williams in the background and she doesn't sustain her high notes for as long as Chante. That said, all praises are due to GOD who creates and gifts every singer for a different purpose.

Minnie actually taught Deneice how to improve her high notes. Minnie sustainability with her notes was very strong and she displayed that several times in recordings and live performances.
