Papiya, Iffat Ara, and Mita Huq (deceased) were three of the brightest stars in the field of Rabindrasangeet. They are the purest of pure singers. I first saw her about 60 or so years ago. I still remember Suchitra-di (Mitra) playing two songs for me- one by Papiya and the other by Iffat Ara, and telling us "Look out for these singers; they are some of the brightest stars of our future like Ritu (Guha), Rama (Mandal), and Purba (Dam)'. Suchitra-di knew a talent when she saw one. Finally I got to see that beautiful person Papiya again. It was one of my old-age wish that is fulfilled now. Thanks. She is one of my favourite Robindroshongeet singers.....she is indeed a star in this field
