I've been listening to this since I was a little high school fuck smoking weed in the parking lot. And today I'm still astounded by the power that Neurosis put out, Cheers to you all.
I love Neurosis simply because their music embodies the emotions of not being safe and anxiety which lives up to the dictionary meaning of the word Neurosis. Few people may understand the genius of this band.
One of the most heart-gripping songs I have ever heard in my life. Neurosis are one innovative band. I hope they release something soon. It's been what, three years since "Given to the Rising"?
From 6:11 and on, I picture a ship sinking in the middle of the sea at night. The entire crew has accepted their fate. Aeon is the song playing when you know you're about to expire.
For an 11 minute song with 6 or 7 movements, this flies by! Intro reminds me of an ancient funeral march, and the outro a funeral dirge. Oh, and the penultimate movement with fading to snare and crash reminds of an ELO outro. ❤
This is what perfection sounds like. Anyhow, I wonder why this has substantially fewer views than the other mp3 audio version on here, when this is more or less the full song, and the other version doesnt have the last bit of the song (i.e. the best part)
I-llu-mi-na-tion Fire -Tion, fire -Tion, bleeds fire Illumination bleeds fire Karmic well of deceit Blood will nourish Your (your) sense breeds disgust Sickened flow Cauterize my waste Devoid spirit gone Our universe will breed Aeon Ravens descend Freeze Your destiny Breathes discord Fall (Fall), Obsidian tides Will be nature's bane
well I've never looked him up.. or plenty of other bands but I still see their suggestions on the side of my screen I just don't see how Neurosis and deadmau5 are...connected...
@ToolOfTrade "one dimensional" - dude that guy could not have much clue! Tell him to turn off all light in his room, put this record on in his headset and absorb.
@ToolOfTrade The kid obviously has no clue about this kind of skull shatteringly atmospheric music. However, early soungarden stuff is actually pretty good.
If you're a director, I don't think the 11-minute ceiling affects you. I'm looking for Enclosure in Flames from this album, since the version smoki666 uploaded is doubled over. Silver was amazing, but it would be even better with the correct ending.
@ToolOfTrade neurosis are more one dimensional than both pearl jam and soundgarden, and almost anyone who listens to music other than metal would agree with that... lrn2music
This is, definitely, the soundtrack of the end of the world.
After many years I finally found it, my favorite band.
Emmanuel same

One of the best songs off one of the best albums of all time. Truly phenomenal.
This is the kind of song whom makes a direct connection between your ears and your soul. It can changes you forever !

Some people in this comment section might not be alive anymore. Kinda dreadful to think of that.
This is one of the greatest songs of all time. Neurosis is one of the greatest bands of all time. Kneel down...

@roseblackcadillac believe me, I've listened to Neurosis countless times in a fucked up tripped out state before. The journey is amazing I might add.

Wenn ich heulen will, höre ich immer dieses "Lied" an.

@ArmchairMessiah Indeed. I feel like overwhelmed by the feelings which this part ofthe song brings into my soul.
I'm actually not a big fan of death metal and any metal in general but this song is just so fuckin great! Maaaaan...
You still alive bro
@@kaspies8150I hope so
Not to be that guy but this isn't death metal but more post metal/sludge metal. Great shit indeed though.

I was 25 when this was released.
When i heard this i released instantly Black Metal was a fkn joke.
@ToolOfTrade one DIMENSIONAL I think he meant...
@ToolOfTrade Soundgarden kicks ass! But so does Neurosis.
Fun fact. Josh Graham, Neurosis's old visual artist, went on to be Soundgarden's art designer/visual artist.
@ToolOfTrade "one dimensional" - dude that guy could not have much clue!

@Doogypoog Nope, he's not being pretentious, just truthful. Sorry. Neurosis isn't for everyone, and they are certainly NOT a one-trick pony.
Hey you still alive?
- Kaspies - lol wtf
