Thanks for describing the variations .Indeed on my claim there's quite a range of material I've always thought the whiter, More pale material I've worked Was chalk,although it doesn't stick to the tongue! Maybe just white ,pale variscite! Not real Impressive ,takes a high polish though!
Thanks Mike for refreshing Me about the chalcosiderite,varisite, occurence with turquiose! I have a pediment on my claim with all of the above deposited. Hard to tell what's what! Good to know varisite can be white! I liberated a little of that material on my last session. Probably not much value in the gem market though.
Yeah! It’s from the Kingman Mine family AKA the Colbaugh processing. What they do is they take old chalky turquoise and stabilize and dye it. I don’t know how they dye it but it’s gorgeous and looks completely natural
