Great video! I believed the slope thing for Muscle too, glad to have it dispelled and learn exactly what boosters do. I'm u/zeddypanda and would like to add some points: - You're 100% correct about bushes being a status effect. The effects are called "Bush Small" and "Bush Large" in game. The game has over 50 status effects like "Thick Fog", "Flashlighted", "Thermite", "Submerged", "Mud", "Stim Stamina", "Sandstorm", "Tremor" etc used to apply states like this. - We have 125 health. I state this confidently because it is a number and I have looked at that number, modified that number, watched that number change as I take damage and heal (and, indeed, I have healed and taken damage by changing the number). Eravin's plant test was just a clue that helped me find it. - I believe we previously had 120HP (because Redeemer, 60 dmg, would oneshot us in the head, but no longer does), so it's possible that the healthbar has not been adjust properly to show the current 125. Whatever the reason, the range 122-124 not reflecting must be a UI bug. - This isn't useful at all, but our health is capped in the range -9999 to 9999, which is constrained after taking damage. I can have 1 million HP (which is how I tested armor reduction), but after taking damage it'll clamp down to 9999. If my body is shot post-mortem, it'll keep taking damage until -9999 is reached. - Regarding acid, you're correct there too. The common status inflicted by Bug Trap, Boomer (Bile Spewers) and Striders (Bile Titans) is called "Acid Splash". Acid Splash does 3 dps, so I'm not clear on why it's doing 1 on even light armor. It must be getting halved by default just explosions, rounding down to 1 dps. I don't yet fully understand DoT effects, but generally they want to tick 4 times a second, but if damage is lowered enough such as to 1 dps, it will make do with that and only tick once per second instead for that total. - There's a second status, "Acid Stream". I don't yet know of any source of this, it's not being applied by any damage instances, so either the source is different, or this status was at some point meant to be used but then wasn't.
I took a peep at (what I'm assuming is your) JavaScript on GitHub for damage testing. I only say this because the value for Health is set at 125. If that was pulled from files, I'd assume the 125 would be 100% confirmed. I watched Eravin's video concerning how armor works, and he linked to your GitHub. I searched Reddit to find the post. I appreciate your level of Democracy. Concerning the DPS of Acid, perhaps it's modified as a % by the area you're hit? Maybe. Seems odd to calc that way. Thanks for reaching out, and thank you for taking the time to piece together a picture of the mechanics of the game.

To answer your on screen question at 15:30, Yes! The enemies near you were the somewhat uncommon bile warriors. When they are killed, it can cause bile to splash out and slow you. I believe it is specifically torso damage kills that do this, which makes sense given that's where the visible bile pustules are located, although I can't confirm that 100%. the thing with the thorn plant happened to me a couple of times already, but hadn't realized it was caused by the thorn plant, in the chaos of the situation and all. The more you know, thanks cash
Until I was analyzing it, neither did I. We should be able to use a Stim at full health (this would be really great with the upcoming Booster effect - faster movement rate and less damage during stim). That's the fix I'd hope for.
I made the mistake once of thinking I knew better and didn't take Muscle Enhancement. It seems that the effects you may find on certain maps, such as mud, are much more prevalent as difficulty increases. Currently, this is entirely observation. I hope to quantify it.
15:30 the answer is yes. Bile Scavangers, Bile Warriors, Bile Nursers and Bile Spewers will splash "Acid" around them when damaged by high caliber or when exploding dramatically next to you
Thank you so much for solving the mystery of the permableed! I always ran Vitality Booster in my group and this would happen to me almost every single mission.
Love Vitality. The feeling I get from comments around Reddit is that it's kinda mid. Eravin did a nice video on Armor that went over zeddypanda's data, as well. Vitality Enhancement was front-and-center in that video, as well. This damned thorn plant, though.
@@cashcrop_ The Vitality Booster is just kind of a victim of how this game works in practice. On paper, it objectively does a lot, but in actual gameplay in the vast majority of cases, you'll want to stim away damage immediately - So all that really matters is whether you get one-shot (or effectively one-shot by being stunlocked) by an attack or not, and it rarely makes a difference in those cases.
On top of that, there's also just the simple fact that you can avoid attacks if you're playing well. Whereas not even the best players can levitate over adverse terrain.
@@BackwardsPancakethis mentality is exactly why I always try and get my team to run Stamina, HSO, Vitality, and ME or Confusion(if the planet doesn't need ME). They all have guaranteed benefits. Any of them that affect reinforcements are a waste because many others can help you prevent needing them. The radar is nice but only applicable and useful in certain situations (although much more helpful when stealthing). Shocks can be negated by avoiding enemies and most terrain hazards. Faster extraction is nice but only useful for the last couple of minutes of any given mission and I'd rather use that slot on something that can help for its entirety.
@@clintmcbride7830 This makes sense. The one thing I'd add is that, once your team gets good enough, confusion kind of starts having the same issue as shocks: You don't really need protection from reinforcements if you know how to evade/bait them, and/or have good enough coordination to ambush them as soon as they land. 9:50 I experienced this exact bug last night and could not figure out what was going on. Thanks for pointing this out! Also wanted to say this video is absurdly detailed and I absolutely love it. Keep up the good work!
That "1 damage after the first second of the debuff" you mention regarding the thorn plant looks a lot closer to 3 health, which would make your total hp calculation match up with the 125 total from the other post.
I figured it behaves like the bug bomb which has on-screen damage indicators within the same gap (the timing differs, but there is enough gap present within each example that the pattern for each example would have 2 tics of damage within it). In the part of the video where I discuss being at 20% health with the thorn plant bleed you will recover stamina, the number of damage tics at that point is 98 (25 remaining health), but if you add the 2 that I hadn't revealed yet (revealed at the end of the bug bomb discussion), it's 100 tics (25 remaining - which is a nice whole number for the 20% remaining health). It seems to work out, and I'm quite certain we have 125 health.
Vitality enhancement keeps winning. Anyways, love the content, my dude. This community needs your top-of-the-line analyses, as survival in Helldivers 2 often hinges on one's knowledge of a *BUNCH* of these extremely niche details. For your efforts I have subscribed. After all, if you’re collecting data. You aren’t playing the game for fun. This is hard work. Thank you for your hard work on this!
@@cashcrop_ I loved that video so much. I sent it to so many people. I'm here for the fact that you set these up with very real experimental designs and you show the numbers and proof. There aren't many content creators that are willing to back up their claims. I will die on the hill that the true challenge of Helldivers comes from the random knowledge checks moreso than skill checks. Knowing an interaction between enemies and kit or weather has saved me far more times than my not great mechanical skill.
Yea, dude, those spiky ball plants are the absolute worst! And yes that having the debuff at full health situation has happened to me multiple times, I always thought it was just a bug. I think the latest patch fixed those plants though so I'm happy about that. Great video.
Some random additional observations: Regarding the 123 versus 125 tics of damage: It's just a visual thing, right? It would be kind of hard to notice when you have exactly 1 or 2 HP missing if the health bar scaled perfectly linearly, so they made the displayed health bars for 124, 123, and 122 HP all look like 122 HP. I'm not sure if using the health bar to check for tics is a good reference point since it is clearly not consistent with the other visible damage indicators. I could also mention that you missed a couple sources of acid, although I'm 99% sure they're all the same effect: - Small spitters exploding - Bile spewers butt exploding (only does acid if they're not already dead) - Heavy bile spewer spit (there was footage of the lighter bile spewers that spawn on the lower difficulties, but not the more armored ones which spawn on higher difficulties, which I think inflict acid on their spit) - Heavy bile spewers mortar (maybe, can't remember if it inflicts acid) And one last thing, I think attacks draining stamina is probably caused by them hitting a certain body part, most likely the chest. It'd be cool to see if that could be tested, maybe in co-op.
I think the lack of damage being shown on the health bar for tics is very much because of "how it would look" and not because of a bug. When checking all the other tics (disregarding tics 2 and 3 that don't move the healthbar), there were indicators on the periphery of the screen that aligned with the movement of the health bar. Interesting concerning the other sources of acid. I caught the Bile Warrior in post prod, and threw in the question as text, as I wasn't aware of bugs behaving like Aliens "acid for blood". I'd imagine they all behave the same...but...ya never know. I will say that looking at frame-by-frame of my various bits of footage where I'm losing Stamina from an attack, it did appear to only affect hits to my torso. I was going to add this, but I couldn't confirm, since one of the pieces of footage I had was a very odd angle of attack from a Hunter that seemed like it should have hit my head (the damage I received was not in line with a headshot, though).
Fun fact: The 'lighter' spitters are nursing spewers and the 'heavy' are just bile spewers. They can both spawn on higher difficulties just different planet types.
The Bile Warrior at 15:29 dying is what caused you to get the slow debuff. 'Bile' variants of Terminids will do that if you're nearby when they die. They can easily be identified by spotting the green growths all over their bodies.
That damage from the thorn bush- that’s what that is! I’ve never noticed it was from that. Usually I just assume it’s a bug, and jump off a rock to take some fall damage, then stim.
I hope you will become more popular because this researches are Massive , cool and precise we as community needed those so thank you from my heart so comment for promotion!

for the bug blood slow, those were bile warriors, a subvariant of warriors which releases a damage & slow effect similar to the bile spitter or any projectile stream spray from Titans or Spewers upon death. They're rare, but very dangerous

For your efforts I have subscribed. After all, if you’re collecting data. You aren’t playing the game for fun. This is hard work. Thank you for your hard work on this!
Hey thanks for the deep dive, it is appreciated
Top tier content. I check constantly to make sure I don't miss your videos. Give me the nerd numbers!
Kind of you to say. Videos take me a while. This one was supposed to be a nice and easy break after the Barrages video. It didn't turn out that way.
The Omnissiah smiles upon the sight of such data!
I trust you are pleased, Varlet.
Muscle enhancement is best for planets with blizzards and sand storms. You can now sprint through them
Hope you start making videos as all the big updates start dropping. Darktide and helldivers 2 that be!
Amazing video, you'r content is really enjoyable to watch! Making a seemingly dull subject interesting is a feat in of it self.
Thank you. I appreciate that.
Guys wake up. Chad science guy uploaded
Yea, dude, those spiky ball plants are the absolute worst! And yes that having the debuff at full health situation has happened to me multiple times, I always thought it was just a bug. I think the latest patch fixed those plants though so I'm happy about that. Great video.
Thanks for your great service for Super-Earth, diver !
Some random additional observations:
Regarding the 123 versus 125 tics of damage:
It's just a visual thing, right? It would be kind of hard to notice when you have exactly 1 or 2 HP missing if the health bar scaled perfectly linearly, so they made the displayed health bars for 124, 123, and 122 HP all look like 122 HP. I'm not sure if using the health bar to check for tics is a good reference point since it is clearly not consistent with the other visible damage indicators.
I could also mention that you missed a couple sources of acid, although I'm 99% sure they're all the same effect:
- Small spitters exploding
- Bile spewers butt exploding (only does acid if they're not already dead)
- Heavy bile spewer spit (there was footage of the lighter bile spewers that spawn on the lower difficulties, but not the more armored ones which spawn on higher difficulties, which I think inflict acid on their spit)
- Heavy bile spewers mortar (maybe, can't remember if it inflicts acid)
And one last thing, I think attacks draining stamina is probably caused by them hitting a certain body part, most likely the chest.
I really enjoy watching your analysis and appreciate all of your hard work 👍
Superb effort and content.
Great thanks.
Thanks for this, finally I have a S-tier bug booster loadout
Thank you for your time and research soldier!
The Bile Warrior at 15:29 dying is what caused you to get the slow debuff. 'Bile' variants of Terminids will do that if you're nearby when they die. They can easily be identified by spotting the green growths all over their bodies.
Thank god someone talked about the bleeding bug with thorn plants, super annoying not being able to stim
One addition they can give to Motivational Shock is the ability to recover faster from concussion/Ragdoll effects.
That damage from the thorn bush- that’s what that is! I’ve never noticed it was from that. Usually I just assume it’s a bug, and jump off a rock to take some fall damage, then stim.
This helps so much! I always wondered exactly what these boosters did. Awesome videos
I hope you will become more popular because this researches are Massive , cool and precise we as community needed those so thank you from my heart
so comment for promotion!
damn bro I hope you ok, you spend so many time finding out this helpful information
Happy to be of help. I'm fine.
Having said that, I recently read a study (survey) that stated "I'm fine" is a lie 60% of the time.
Question is, which is it for me? The truth...or a lie? Heh.
Awesome video. I personally can't keep up with the names of these boosters so I had to rewatch a lot of parts.
If there was a picture of the booster while your talking about it that would have helped me out a lot.
Great video still.
Subscription earned. Do deep dives for everything helldivers 2 pls.
I appreciate it. I'll do some more Boosters stuff b/c I don't like what I've seen on Boosters. We'll see how HD2 pans out. I'm capped on everything at the moment. This isn't a bad thing for me, as it gives me some time to catch up on other things. I'm delving into Baldur's Gate 3 atm.
fave booster loadout right now is stam, muscle, vitality, and shocks. optimization insinuates that you die.
I like HSO. It's convenient.
Love these in depth helldivers vids man, keep em coming!
I really appreciate the time you put into the data collection here.
Great information posted! I just hope for your sake that they don't change all the values with the patch in 4(ish) days
They very well may.
A+ content ad usual. Keep up the great work.
Next video should be how you can determine the direction of the eagle strikes!
Level 75 and never even knew those plants exploded, was playing bots this week before the scheduled big update this week and saw a sniper shot and shrapnel fly everywhere and i was like "DID THEY FIX THEY ERUPTOR without telling us!!??"
Muscle enhancement on vog sojoth and other snowy planets is extremely handy to have. Outside of that planet stamina enhancement is a better choice, unless you expect to be stuck in sandstorms or crossing rivers a lot.
Thank you so much for all this info!
Any time.
Amazing work great job 👍🏽
for the bug blood slow, those were bile warriors, a subvariant of warriors which releases a damage & slow effect similar to the bile spitter or any projectile stream spray from Titans or Spewers upon death. They're rare, but very dangerous
This is some next level research right here!
Incredible content Cash, I cant wait to see your analysis of the upcoming warbond
Thank you. I may cover the upcoming Warbond, but it seems unlikely. I'll be on vacation in the mountains with the family. It will take some serious content to tear my mind away from being present in the lovely result of two tectonic plates battling it out for dominance. Perhaps after I return from my adventure.
@@cashcrop_ Vacation? Family? Sounds kinda communist ngl 😒
@@froogleislive It's been cleared all the way to the top. My documents are in order, I assure you.
@@cashcrop_ carry on 🙄
What insane work. Thank you
Fun fact muscle enhancement buffs melee by 20 damage (off memory)
They have separate damage IDs
I now must explore this. Thank you.
Dang the level of detail is incredible... However...
Me before watching this video: I choose the Vitality booster...
Me after watching this video: I choose the Vitality booster...
I run the new crack infused stims with medic armour for pretty much anything...
So every time I use one I can yell :
I'm fast as fuck boi!!!
10:05 Thank you so much for explaining why this happens, I kept wondering why I kept "bleeding out" randomly whenever I was on this type of map
