Edit: Hey to those of you I told the Servo doesn't stack with Vitality, this in fact actually not true they do stack but not in the way you might expect. I'll have a full video on limb health and how injury works soon! Took awhile to get the graphics together for this one but glad to bring you guys yet more nerd numbers. Thanks for watching and as always my favorite comment will be featured at the end of the next video!
The time spent on the the graphics was well worth it, amazing video and the most concise and detailed Ive come across. well deserved sub, i look forward to more content (especially after the new big patch coming)
Also, there is something up with your audio that reduces the production quality, the loudness of your voice changes between what i assume is takes, and goes from slightly blown out to muffled, dunno if it was just me, but maybe an equalizer and looking into sound editing on top of the graphics might make it even better!
What about extra limb health it’s sneaky good matched w/ vitality (maybe it’s broke) I find I can take way more hits with it and it comes with 30% throwing distance on nades and stratagems
I believe it's my M7's auto normalization kicking in everytime I open my push to talk, i've been having alot of audio trouble since I upgraded my mic which is unfortunate
Your audio is within a completely acceptable range of good quality. I’m using AirPod pro 2’s and didn’t notice the muffled or overdriven sound at all. Just curious, what audio interface are you using with your M7? ….or do you have the Shure MV7+? That one does have auto-gain….and a built in USB interface.
y'know, that explains why my explosive resistance armor helped me live so much against bugs. Here I was thinking that it was just because my teammates had a slightly harder time killing me LMAOO
Not really worth it, biletitans attack are easy to avoid, as for the spewers... You'll run that armor when you could use something better just for the chance of the mission being that rare chance of being a spewer one? Debatable, but not at all when you realize most of the time you dodge them, and when you don't, it's usually because one came from behind and they one shot you anyways, either with or without the passive.
WAIT A MINUTE!! the bile spewers vomit attack, the thing that gets me killed ALL THE TIME, is EXPLOSIVE!??!?!?!? WHAT?!? never, in a thousand years would I think a stream of vomit would do the same damage as a grenade
if the splash of it still hitting people even tho the projectile hit the ground didn't gave it away as a "sort" of explosive AoE, idk what else it could be saying but that's probably juuuust me
@@Kasumi_Tashi I thought it was its own thing like "acid" or "bile" and was waiting for a set of armor that would give me a resistance to that elemental damage. it being counted as explosive damage is very counter intuitive to me
It's fine. It's clear that the devs don't even understand how their own mechanics work, so we don't have to worry about them nerfing the boosters anytime soon.
10:17 Wait, so you're telling me I should have been running Fortified on bug missions and Extra padding on bots?! I've been doing the opposite! How Many Other Lies Have I Been Told By The Council?!
How are people this dense? Just let a bile spewer hit you in light armor, then in heavy armor. Then do it again in explosive fortified. If you are in heavy, explosive fortified, shield pack, and vitality you can ignore bile spewers. They basically just tickle.
@@davidbeppler3032 Its hard to tell how much vomit actually hit you. Did i survive because my armor helped or was i just slightly off the vomit trajectory and most of it missed.
Nice touch finally having your model talk to the camera instead of just having a stream clip of talking to chat or the people you're playing with in the background.
trying it out, it's a little jank as my recording still has my avatar behind it, but given how this video is legit all about the information on screen and nothing to do with the gameplay, I felt it was best
It's crazy how useless the in game info is. We're missing so much information like planet supply lines, durable damage, and some booster descriptions. I didn't even know armor had such obscure mechanics
Yeah, I hate when games give you armor with "shield icon" and 30 nearby and you think "30 what? What does that mean??" And then some power armor fallout appears and woaaah it's now 450 near "shield icon" . But...450 WHAT???
@@LaserTractor Arbitrary stats are sooo dumb. If that number isn't serving as a multiplier or some other direct representation of the damage mitigation, it shouldn't be the number being displayed! It's so sad how the devs of Helldivers 2 had this notion that somehow obscuring information from the player made things "less confusing." It's not only insulting, it's just flat out wrong. More information will NEVER be more confusing. Arbitrary stats that represent NOTHING and hiding the majority of REAL stats behind the UI in the game code only is what makes things confusing!!!
@@JohnGrahamDoe yeah, I like stats too. But if it has 100 kinetic and 100 explosive damage - DON'T add these two together like they did with scorcher and many other weapons. They listed penetration for grenades but not for primaries. I don't even talk about stratagem support weapons. "Go and explore". Duuhhh...I'm 300 hours deep, just give me data, I've explored enough.
This is why I like the way Warframe does armor. You have a seemingly arbitrary armor value, but if you mouse over the number, it'll tell you exactly the amount of Damage reduction you're getting from it Games can keep their arbitrary numbers if they want, but at least give us an easy way to peek behind the scenes.
Phenomenal breakdown of armor. Been playing for hundreds of hours more than I ever should and by experience it lines up with everything you said. Never knew vitality added a reduction multiplier. Just attributed it 20% extra health but never felt it was accurate. Keep pumping out the nerd info content. I really appreciate your effort.
Cool breakdown. Recently switched from the kodiak to the fortified commando and definitely noticed a significant difference when taking rockets to the face. Thought it was my imagination, but this kinda confirms it.
Another thought.... stop taking rockets to the face? They are slow moving. Just duck. Is what I do in my heavy armor. Can't move fast, but ducking is quick.
@@EravinVT Is it also going to cover explosives and damage to main? I find that gets the most confusing, like how you can two shot a devastator with the grenade launcher if you take out an arm on the first shot, however I haven't been able to consistently destroy the arm on the first shot (I think it requires like an elbow hit or something, idk, splash damage seems super inconsistent)
This is why i really wish they would just give us exactly what boosters do. For the longest time due to so many videos saying so, i thought the vitality booster just gave you 20 extra HP. But it being a 20% damage reduction is way more valuable especially for headshots. Thanks for all you do!
tried the marshmallow armor, you can actually feel the difference and im not talking the speed difference lmao. you can actually get swarmed by hunters and come out relatively fine or the stuck in a bullet storm and walk it off, plus fire doesnt evaporate you, still hurts though lol. once vehicles come into the game the big downside of speed will be much more tolerable
I've always been running the Light Gunner armor just cause I liked the simple paramilitary look to it. And to boot it has Max speed and stamina like Trailblazer, but with extra padding bringing it to 100 armor. It is literal perfection as far as I care.
Heavy medic FTW against bots when running auto cannon. Feel like a tank build... Until The random headshot takes me out or I get stuck in a ragdoll and cannot stim as I slowly roll around on the ground for a ridiculous amount of time. Really wish they would put a timer on the ragdoll State and allow you to be able to stim after a certain amount of time being in said state.
From my experience im so confused with extra padding, the light armor variant is great, the marshmallow man variant is great. But the starter set feels like it does nothing?
@@Necro_fury I've recently re-used the starter set. Turns out it's pretty good! I think a big part of it feeling useless comes down to how bad we are at the game when we start. Similarly, the precision strike is actually a fantastic stratagem against bots, I would say as long as as you can land it, it's better than the railcannon strike. But when you start out, you miss a lot since you don't know throwing distances
Probably the most INFORMATIVE Video yet. And yet I must ask "WHY IS THIS NOT IN GAME!" Just like I ask WHY IS THEIR NOT A BEASTEY TERMINAL ON OUR SHIP!
Part of it is probably the game design leaning to immersive gameplay and decisions/learning coming from experience more than min-maxing and number crunching. So they deliberately kept a lot of info abstract, so that players feel it out, kinda like how a solider IRL doesn't know all the exact mathematical details, just the general intent of his gear. That said, certain areas of the info we get certainly could be improved, since the immersive design concept relies massively on things being intuitive and the info given not being misleading. Eg, stuff like the nuances of explosive resistance, or the "explosive" descriptors on certain guns and what that actually does.
what I came for: "so is the light armor with armor padding actually worth using over light armors with other skills, or is it a negligible difference?" what I took away: "the vitality booster was THAT important!?"
Your data backs up my observations. Using the B-24 Enforcer armor drastically improved my survivability vs. bots. But I struggled against spewers using the B-08 Light Gunner vs. bugs. Guess I'll run the Enforcer exclusively from now on since it's mathematically best in slot based on these findings. Democracy Protects is just too random for me.
Thank you for diving into the deep data numbers that make all nerds proud of fellow nerds! 🤓 Love the analytics that you put into your videos and know that it is a labor of love. Most people are thinking of the armor passives in the literal sense and don't think something that is vomited on you that is green would be explosive instead of acid or bile. Their in game descriptions leave a lot to be desired. Thank you for doing this video and i would love to see the breakdown video footage if you have time. 🎉
It would be nice to see you breakdown what exactly all the boosters do and any interactions with them and Armour Passives. I've heard so many rumours about perks doing stuff thats not listed in the description like Muscle Enhancement reducing stun duration. Pretty nice and informative video regardless.
There are some really good ones as Eravin said. The only one I haven't seen any good info on is motivational shocks. I've seen people say it's an 80% reduction and others say it's a 20% reduction. Saw a video from reddit comparing the durations and a hunter slow lost like .4 seconds or something... it seems like it's kinda useless. Hoping they make it slow immunity!
Dude I had no idea the Vitality booster was that impactful on damage values. This changes everything, huge thank you for clarifying this, this info will solve many a debate I have with my four man squad mates lmao
It is crazy that I have to come to UA-cam to find out this critical information. Maybe it was just me but I always thought vitality booster just prevent your limbs from getting broken. I didn't realize it was a general boost to your armor defense, that's almost as critical as taking the stamina improvement and fully stocked ammo booster. This game, as much as I like it really needs to have this type of information available in the game so that the gamers know this stuff.
I love the enforcer armor. It feels like a really good spot for being tanky but not being quite as slow as the innate150s. Probably my favorite bot armor, big bonus it's got a fashionable Star Wars trooper look to it and fortified to deal with all the explosions.
This was a really great video. When vs Automatons I like to go full on tank with 150 armour and a shield with explosive resistance. I have been wondering about padded vs explosive resistance for a while and you have answered this exact question!
Thank you! 👍🙏🤗 Finally after all those lengthy and difficult to understand breakdowns I have seen we got a short and a simple one :) Now I will reconsider what armour to use on bots missions. I guess I am gonna spend 400 super credits on that heavy extra padding armour. And I will try to use light explosive resistance armour on bugs missions to see how much better I am gonna survive bile spewers and bile titans attacks.
Nice to know that the Fortified light armor from the superstore is actually beneficial, taking less explosive damage than non-Fortified heavy armor. Feels like a justified purchase now. Edit: Lmao, never mind, got to the part of the video that talks about explosive projectiles. Oof. Guess I should be on the lookout for the Extra Padding light armor in the superstore.
recoil ctrl boost is massive though, especially since it works while standing too apparently, so still really good reducing all direct missile damage by ~25% and aoe by 50% compared to the 25% less damage across the board with padding
8:14 I'm noticing something about the numbers here. In the left table look the left column for the numbers 100, 150, and 200. Now take a look at the numbers in the 2nd column. Let C1 be the number in the first column and C2 be the number in the 2nd column. For each of the 3 rows mentioned, we get that (C1 + 100) / 2 = 1 / C2. This means that survivability scales linearly with the armor value. This reminds me of warframe's effective health formula: EHP = basehp * (1 + armor/300). It seems like for each 50 armor above 100, you gain 0.25x of the survivability you had at 100 armor. So at 150 armor you have 1.25x survivability, at 200 armor you have 1.5x. The same goes for the other direction, at 50 armor you have 0.75x survivability and at 0 armor you would have 0.5x (If that existed, but it doesn't). To write this like warframe's formula you would get: EHP = basehp * (1 + armor/100) In this case, basehp is the health you have if you had 0 armor. The intuitive takeaway is: every 100 armor adds one multiple of your base hp to your EHP. Which makes it intuitive that 200 armor has 1.5x as much EHP as 100 armor. ie 1+200/100 = 1.5x (1+100/100)
A lot of words just for me to take away from this that extra padding medium armor is goated. Also shame most everyone thinks vitality booster is just limb damage and nothing else.
Has always been my favourite. No drama or whining, and actually knows what he's talking about. I share them often, since we need to get more of the community out of the rage bait engagement farm channels, and get them trained up on how to succeed, rather than just begging for buffs all the time.
Fantastic video and useful data as always. Thanks for being one of the must watch HD2 channels. The effort you put in is greatly appreciated Also, they definitely need to change armor headshots to be a nice sliding scale starting at the lightest armor
Tracks with my experience. I've played more bots than bugs for a while now and have gotten very comfortable in my big boy suits. When my buddies take a vacation from the termite fields, they tend to bring their light armor with them and get absolutely shredded by even stray shots. I'm sure that a degree of it is just experience and familiarity, but they themselves have balked at some of the absolute nonsense I have survived.
As a die hard researcher of this game as well, I am so happy that you make these videos. Ive been telling people about stuff like this for the longest time despite it being hard to believe, so nice to have videos backing me. Came to realize that explosives are often more ballistics then explosives from the bots a while back, but i didnt know the full on numbers. Question, does this mean that ballistic shield technically mitigates damage from rockets then since it stops you from taking the brunt of the rocket impact and can potentially mitigate headshots? Ive noticed that impacts to the shield, at least from personal experience, feel like they lower the damage i take most of the time
d00d. you did answer my questions! I've been looking n waiting for this very information for months now. so thank you very very much for putting this together.
@Eravin I am a very new Diver that's only been around for about a week and so far have been running a variety of armors into battle. The Titan suit is probably my only real default 'go to' if idk what to bring, as it felt like such a good balance of speed, survivability, and good utility with it's Engi-Kit passive. Seeing the stats here actually do make me feel rather happy, seeing that it's defense values (minus headshot) float around 100%. The starting Tac armor really does seem like a Gem of an armor set that people need to not sleep on as it probably only seemed bad because we were newbie divers when we wore it. It's got the baseline stats for movement and stam of a 100 point armor, while having the extra padding to be as defensive as most heavier armors at 150. The first heavy you unlock, the marksman, was my first real notion of how strong damage resistance could be, at least at my low level. 150 armor along with the 30% explosive res is, of course, going to be better than just having a normal 150(padded) armor for those explosions. I have no idea if I was running vit boost as well, but I was able to trudge 10-30 meter(s) distances without cover against medium bot forces (no hulks or turrets/tanks shooting me) [distance depending on terrain or an outright slowing debuff like barbed wire/large plants] Soaking in shot after shot as they hit me mostly in the arm and leg since my side was to them, and was even able to semi-consistently survive rocket raider shots and even was able to withstand 2 direct hits from a Rocket Devastators barrage due to him not hitting me square in the forehead. Also! I would love to see a small addative video maybe covering the Explosive damage resistance provided by being prone/diving, as it seems fairly considerable as i've seen people get hit dead on with a rocket and live. Unsure if it was actually a headshot as it could've hit the shoulder/backpack of the person, but it looked like they caught it with their teeth, so that's why i'm asking you to clear air.
being prone or diving just reduces your exposure to the blast zone, it doesn't provide any innate numerical advantage against the explosion but instead just reduces exposure, if a grenade goes off in your hand prone, it will deal the same damage as standing
I do like how everyone in the community agrees that the Bonesnapper helmet is the go-to fashion choice to go with the Enforcer armor. It just works so well together, as opposed to the actual Enforcer helmet. That and Stormtrooper vibes ofc
thing good to remember about explosive resistance it allows you to do explosion jumping a lot more often and at a lot smaller cost (with best tool to do it I'd say being the autocannon)
Great video! It’s clear, you show numbers on screen, easy to follow and you put all number together for an easy comparisson. Would love to see values for Speed and Stamina aswell. With 50 armor you take x% dmg with x% movement speed. With 200 armor you take x% dmg with x% movement speed.
I suppose that just proves why starter armor is the best armor. It has the armor rating of a heavy armor and stamina booster increases it's sprint speed almost to the level of light armors (those are already at the cap of sprint speed before the booster)
@@EravinVT Wait why not default armor or marshmallow man? I get Light Gunner has 100 armor but then wouldn't I want 200 armor instead? It's not like I'm overly worried about getting into lots of melee on bots
Damn dude... this is so much vital info, and I'd love to see a breakdown of all the whys and whats to get to these conclusions. There's so much info, "info", misinfo, and speculation about so much of the math behind this game that I'd be interested in seeing it broken down into provable facts. Just that knowledge of spewers and bile titans using explosive damage is such an eye opener when it comes to how to deal with them and avoid dying. (also... that's some bs that they're classed as explosive damage)
The majority of the information these days is derived from the game itself then put to the test in the field, the sources of that information I believe i've left in the description for the most part. If not i'll have to go find them. We also put all our sources in the pins on the discord as well
@@EravinVT Oh for sure, I've taken a short preliminary look at them, but I'm just saying that I'd be interested in that video that you mentioned making if you get 3k likes on this one. Also, it could include any other oddball tips like the spewers being explosive damage. Anything strange and helpful that you wouldn't know without digging in the files, or testing and investigating things.
I usually wear armor sets for visual appeal (even tho its inefficient) and found that wearing heavy armor other than the padded boi compared to light armor had no real difference in survival, maybe allowing me to take an extra hit give or take. I dont really mind the slowness of the heavy armor and usually always bring stamina or muscle to compensate. Your video really helped me understand the importance of vitality booster. This was a great video for helping me understand the entire subject. I dont think it would make me stop wearing heavy armor for visual appeal, but I will definitely start packing vitality as a go-to booster. Lastly, my luck is crap so I don't like to use democracy protects and just chose more certain stats for protection.
I almost run exclusively the titan armor for looks but idk why as soon as I put a normal full light armor I become an actual npc dying I don’t know if those extra armor values really help, great video regardless
Ok, that is awesome. And going to prompt me to try some different armors from my usual Heavy Fortified or Medium Padded. Hero of the Federation is a cool looking armor, after all :)
Looks like extra padding vs robots, and explosive resist vs bugs because of the GD bile spewers. WHY they don't explain damage and perks better is beyond me... Great info here ty!
I ran the light gunner armor for quite a while, then when enforcer came into the picture I got it for bots feeling like maybe I should try out the default/other medium padded armor from the shop
It's worthwhile to note that explosive resistance comes with reduced recoil on shots while crouching or prone. This stat can greatly increase the rapid fire accuracy of weapons with high fire rates or heavy recoil. My personal recommendations include the Heavy Machine Gun and the Autocannon.
I did not have exact numbers. But playing I came to the exact same conclusions. I don't mind being slow. I am heavy armor, extra padding, shield pack, and vitality perk. If I don't die, I can res my team. Also, friendly fire is not friendly, this helps.
I am a light armor diver, but having tried the marshmellow man suit for the first time recently I do "get" the appeal. Shouldn't say these things too loudly, but extra padding probably became overpowered when it is on medium or heavy armor after the armor buffs. If only there were some options in the vicinity of one with ~120 and one with ~170 armor via extra padding.
Man, i'm just happy that there is SOME merit to heavy armor now, id honestly still like to see a small headshot reduction in general, like down to 150% base rather than 200%, but i think there is a nice balance between mobility and defence now. Hopefully we will get some cooler armor perks soon.
Shield generator pack, democracy protects perk, and vitality is as close as you can get to invincibility. It’s what I run on the search and destroy type missions.
Ever since my buddies watched me tank a SEAF Artillery high-yield explosive wearing my fortified heavy armor, I've never looked back. It's good to know that the Health Booster was the real secret to my survival, and not the shockwave sliding off my smooth brain.
I love my stay puft armor. Sure I'm a bit slower, but it can often mean the difference between surviving a burst, getting up, hitting a stim and returning fire *OR* just dying on the spot. Combine with a shield or other defensive stratagems and you can take some fire semi-reliably for your squad. That, and it makes me look like an absolute tank.
Blessed be the number givers. Liked, watched, favourited and saved. I just hope pile stepping into the bullring from the office will see helldivers revive it’s fun rather than be Arthur returning the sword to the lake. . . That said, light armour FTW, every time I take it off I get hit so much more and rag dolled for days and generally ran down/over/through on the regular even vs those hilltop/horizon walkers acting like snipers.
This does give me more reason to run the White Wolf armor once they get the texture fixed on the chest piece. That said, my armor perk preference tends to lean more toward utility than survivability so I usually run a light or medium engineering kit set.
@@EravinVT btw you should make a troll video on the most useful things and include the drape of glory cape, it says in the desc that it makes people 17% more patriotic on average.
I’ve worn the heavy 50% explosive armour since fighting bots and I’ve never looked back. Used to run light gunner for bugs but now I’ve changed tactics from kiting to kill everything. And it works wonders. Set up some fortifications and position myself well while my team mates do the objectives i commit bug and bot genocide. I might be a psychopath. 😂
Hey, fantastic video, that was a great breakdown! I just want to double check, so in that case the B-08 light gunner armor is effectively the same as something like CE-35 trench engineer when it comes to damage resistance? I was curious if there are any benefits that armor DR get by having the medium or heavy tag applied to them
Could be worth a follow up video or a short about how stance affects explosive damage taken. Sprinting>Running>Standing>Crouching>Prone. Though I'm only confident on the last three, I haven't tested if sprinting actually makes you more vulnerable to explosions. Also, with your videos revelation that acid spit is explosive, I wonder if stance also affects acid!
It's mostly a matter of your body being caught less in the blast overall, you don't take less damage from your body's position innately. If a grenade goes off in your hand while prone you take the same as standing
@@EravinVT Huh, TIL. I was told that when an explosion goes off near you, being in that order of stance reduces the damage you take. Guess it was a misunderstanding of the mechanic.
I've been using Hero of the People armor for a while because democracy protects + looks great, then I bought from the cash shop the White Wolf because it looks cool as heck, and I've found that the extra padding is actually great. Basically democracy protects will save your life but it leaves you with 1 hp and there's a very high chance whatever almost killed you will actually kill you, specially since the stim animation seems to bug out 1/3 of the times... But with the extra padding you can survive for longer overall. Sure you won't survive that direct hit from the 500kg anymore, but you'll most likely have more time to run away.. err.. tactically reposition yourself from the barrage of lasers and rockets or the thousand bugs nibbling at your feet. I still die 1 hit from the god damn spewers though.
Also I bought the Michelin man armor from the store and while it does feel like it takes 2 thousand hits to kill me, it also feels like I never manage to reach any objectives before my squad does and cleans it first. I had best results with it by just ditching my team and doing other objectives by myself (i.e. I did the whole main objects by myself when my team wanted to do map cleaning, I did map cleaning when my team decided to do main objectives) It's definitely a playstyle but very painful. And forces you to pick the stamina booster to get anywhere.
Honestly this is one huge advertisement for Vitality Booster, running that plus Fortified has been a lifesaver in bot missions where I KNOW I should've died from a hit (like a Devastator rocket or a nearby tank shot impact) But now that I kinda have an idea about the Armor Padding and Democracy Protects, this will help. I mostly disregarded Extra Padding because of the dubious effectiveness of it (and also because of the pretense of it being one of the first armors you unlock, and in most games that means it's meant to be 'outgrown') but after this, it's another piece of armor worthy of consideration added to the toolbox.
To be fair to Fortified, it also has 30% recoil reduction, which I've seen from other video testing works even while standing, and is pretty nice with certain weapons like the Autocannon. So while you'll generally get more defensive value out of Extra Padding, Fortified gives a solid offensive edge as well. Fortified is a really decent bot perk if you're running AC. Bugs, I thought it was kind of pointless, and Engineering Kit was strictly better if you wanted the recoil reduction, but now that I know acid counts as explosive, it's looking up.
Yeah Recoil Reduction can also be a part of choosing one or the other, But knowing the explosive resistance outside of bugs does not really help you survive as much as you would expect is an important take away
Curious to see what the explosive resistance for being prone is. Its not enough to survive a direct hit, but I have survived enough close calls to know it does something. As for getting shot in the head there are ways to mitigate that. Namely get down and don't stand in front of enemies when they are shooting. Most bots have a cooldown between bursts than you can take advantage of. Diving backwards is also a good way to avoid getting head shot by things like hunters if your foolish enough to get into their jump range. The whole armor movement topic is rather interesting. Yes lighter armor gets you to the fight faster , but you lack any real staying power when there. Heavy armor is slow, but the defense boost is noticeable. I find the best use for light armor to be long range hit and run builds. Still that's not going to stop the mad lads that just want to run shotgun while wearing what is effectively a military grade onesie in terms of protection. I find that heavy armor lends itself to playing with heavy support weapons like auto cannon, laser cannon, the MGs, flame thrower and the like. Anything with a sit down reload is gonna feel much better in heavy armor as you can angle yourself to protect your head and not be punished as badly if you need to reload. weapon choice is going to play a big role in how flimsy light armor feels vs how slow heavy armor feels. I want to say thanks btw. Finding these numbers and calculations can not be easy and even if people disagree with what the numbers ultimately mean you still put in the hard work to display this nice bit of info.
Going prone dosent give you any explosive resistance directly (aka if you're on top of explosion source), but it generally increases length of raycast so you get less damage due to falloff.
As far as I can tell, going prone might reduce the effective range on explosives rather than damage. If you lie down on top of a grenade you'll still take full damage, but stand and prone at the same distance can reduce it by a lot. This would be similar to how detection range is reduced.
@@arczer2519 Thank you. I had a hunch it has something to do with fall off. Makes me wonder about the mechanics of diving now. I have survived some pretty stupid stuff by chain diving. Just today I got dropped into a heavy base right as a set of drop ships arrived. There were six hulks and well over a dozen devastators and I managed to survive and get out. Got launched so many times I thought the hulks were playing bad mitten with me.
@@ZedDiDragon Speaking of detection range. Have you ever gone prone in the middle of a fight and noticed how suddenly there is a lot less attacking you? I think going prone or diving blocks line of sight on some enemies and they lose you because they cant see you. It feels like even if they do see you they lose you for a few seconds and have to "find you" again. If the stealth mechanics are still in play after the fighting gets really bad then that could be a boon to survivability.
@@SteveMorris-c2r i didn't know that, but it sounds pretty plausible. Automotons play a lot of cat and mouse even mid-battle and will keep shooting in the general direction they last saw you to make you think they still know where you are. It's cool that your trick works!
Wow 3:15 so That booster Increases your armor? Interesting. I really hope the new team in arrowhead will make this stuff a lot more clearer. Because wow

Just curious, what audio interface are you using with your M7? ….or do you have the Shure MV7+? That one does have auto-gain….and a built in USB interface.
Acid being categorized as explosive damage is the most useful thing ive ever heard i will run light armor fortified from now on for bugs
:D thanks for watching
Yes! Light fortified armor I found to be useful on eradicates and games where there’s map fog since it can help with bile sneak attacks
y'know, that explains why my explosive resistance armor helped me live so much against bugs.
You'll get oneshot anyways lol
WAIT A MINUTE!! the bile spewers vomit attack, the thing that gets me killed ALL THE TIME, is EXPLOSIVE!??!?!?!? WHAT?!?
never, in a thousand years would I think a stream of vomit would do the same damage as a grenade
if the splash of it still hitting people even tho the projectile hit the ground didn't gave it away as a "sort" of explosive AoE, idk what else it could be saying but that's probably juuuust me
@@Kasumi_Tashi yes, but the point is that it's MAJORITY AoE, meaning the direct projectile isn't a significant factor.
@@Kasumi_Tashi I thought it was its own thing like "acid" or "bile" and was waiting for a set of armor that would give me a resistance to that elemental damage. it being counted as explosive damage is very counter intuitive to me
Yep it's a bomb, who knew
Basically Explosive is more akin to AoE damage than actually explosive.
Actually, does explosive resistance help against flamethrowers?
Just leaving a comment here so General Brasch doesnt nerf the vitality booster.
good soldier
It's fine. It's clear that the devs don't even understand how their own mechanics work, so we don't have to worry about them nerfing the boosters anytime soon.
they're gonna be slowing down on nerfs now, and refrain from knee jerk reactions.
10:17 Wait, so you're telling me I should have been running Fortified on bug missions and Extra padding on bots?! I've been doing the opposite! How Many Other Lies Have I Been Told By The Council?!
Not by my Council, I represent the Ministry of Truth
For bug we need to run fast
How are people this dense? Just let a bile spewer hit you in light armor, then in heavy armor. Then do it again in explosive fortified. If you are in heavy, explosive fortified, shield pack, and vitality you can ignore bile spewers. They basically just tickle.
@@davidbeppler3032 Its hard to tell how much vomit actually hit you. Did i survive because my armor helped or was i just slightly off the vomit trajectory and most of it missed.
@@Steir12 So true, those bile attacks feel like they desync sometimes. You get hit by stuff that didn't even touch you sometimes.
@@EravinVT you felt right
@@EravinVT I barely noticed the second avatar behind the talking one.
It's crazy how useless the in game info is. We're missing so much information like planet supply lines, durable damage, and some booster descriptions. I didn't even know armor had such obscure mechanics
yeah armor is a rabbit hole
Yeah, I hate when games give you armor with "shield icon" and 30 nearby and you think "30 what? What does that mean??"
And then some power armor fallout appears and woaaah it's now 450 near "shield icon" .
You have a seemingly arbitrary armor value, but if you mouse over the number, it'll tell you exactly the amount of Damage reduction you're getting from it
Games can keep their arbitrary numbers if they want, but at least give us an easy way to peek behind the scenes.
Doin my best thanks for watching!
Same for me. I am still buffled that the vitality booster comes with a damage reduction multiplier. Are you really sure about this!?
Cool breakdown. Recently switched from the kodiak to the fortified commando and definitely noticed a significant difference when taking rockets to the face.
Thought it was my imagination, but this kinda confirms it.
Glad I could confirm that, and thanks for watching!
I’m also rather fond of that armor, greatly improves survivability
Another thought.... stop taking rockets to the face? They are slow moving. Just duck. Is what I do in my heavy armor. Can't move fast, but ducking is quick.
Would really appreciate a guide for where to shoot enemies. Which limbs have most/ least hp, different armor/DR types, etc
It's cookin, That one is alot more graphics haha
Thanks for all you do!
tried the marshmallow armor, you can actually feel the difference and im not talking the speed difference lmao. you can actually get swarmed by hunters and come out relatively fine or the stuck in a bullet storm and walk it off, plus fire doesnt evaporate you, still hurts though lol. once vehicles come into the game the big downside of speed will be much more tolerable
for sure
I always run it on bug missions and I usually die 1-2 times max on helldive. Many times its in 0-1 numbers
Vehicles are already in the game. Exo-suits.

I've always been running the Light Gunner armor just cause I liked the simple paramilitary look to it. And to boot it has Max speed and stamina like Trailblazer, but with extra padding bringing it to 100 armor. It is literal perfection as far as I care.
for survivability on 50 armor that's the best option yeah
MORE NERD NUMBERS YES

I love the detailed breakdowns!
As long as i've got ideas we've got breakdowns
@@EravinVT Thanks Eravin! Loving your well thought out breakdowns!
You showed B-01 Tactical as your example for 100 armor value, but that armor has 150 armor value due to Extra Padding.
I was waiting for someone to notice, this was an intentional error so this would occur :) Good catch
THATS WHY I RUN IT ITS SO GOOD
Heavy medic FTW against bots when running auto cannon.
Gives me a job I suppose
@@EravinVT Well your doing a good job :)
The game wants you to figure it out. No hand hokding. Took me montha to figure out how to use the reload menu.
@@UnknownSquid And thats fair. Still, until recently the armor really didn't feel any different besides the perk.
what I came for: "so is the light armor with armor padding actually worth using over light armors with other skills, or is it a negligible difference?"
what I took away: "the vitality booster was THAT important!?"
Lol oh yeah, it’s the best
Your data backs up my observations. Using the B-24 Enforcer armor drastically improved my survivability vs. bots. But I struggled against spewers using the B-08 Light Gunner vs. bugs. Guess I'll run the Enforcer exclusively from now on since it's mathematically best in slot based on these findings. Democracy Protects is just too random for me.
Yep Democracy Protects is only the play vs specifically one shots against your head hitbox and that's even more random
Pretty nice and informative video regardless.
thanks for the super and I think i've seen a few all boosters videos, cashcrop has a super detailed one I believe? eitherway thanks for watchin!
One of the best explanation videos I've seen on UA-cam ever😂
now i know why the eradicator armor is my go to for bugs tks for the info keep those data videos coming i need to know all the numbers
As long as i've got numbers to give they'll be comin!
One could argue it's statistically pretty peak
I wear nothing else for team dives
Dude you did a great job on this video. I went in thinking armor is self explained but boy was i wrong. Bile titans deal explosive is wild lmao
glad I could help and thanks for watching!
Glad I could bring a information dense no nonsense number crunch to the community, thanks for watchin
so you're telling me there's other armor outside of light scout armor?
Nope
Try the medium “stealth” combat technician armor. Same as the scout but with the added benefit of a higher armor rating.
@@Suhayl_Khatib im not gonna wear it, even if there's a fire! 🙂
Theres the Arctic Rancher Armor which does look pretty cool
Thank you!!! I wish they made this kinda thing clear in the description
Me too but I guess it gives me a job
Nice to know that the Fortified light armor from the superstore is actually beneficial, taking less explosive damage than non-Fortified heavy armor. Feels like a justified purchase now.
Edit: Lmao, never mind, got to the part of the video that talks about explosive projectiles. Oof. Guess I should be on the lookout for the Extra Padding light armor in the superstore.
lol yeaaah
Don't lament, it's still a contender for the best armour choice against bugs in a subjective listing
recoil ctrl boost is massive though, especially since it works while standing too apparently, so still really good reducing all direct missile damage by ~25% and aoe by 50% compared to the 25% less damage across the board with padding
What an amazing video. Thanks for the time you put into researching all of this
Thanks to the Ministry of Truth for making this possible tbh, I've got help these days
Ur vids are slowly becoming my fav helldiver content on youtube
doin my best!
The effort you put in is greatly appreciated
Also, they definitely need to change armor headshots to be a nice sliding scale starting at the lightest armor
Headshots are kinda insane rn, would like it to start the curve at 150% atleast
Tracks with my experience. I've played more bots than bugs for a while now and have gotten very comfortable in my big boy suits.
When my buddies take a vacation from the termite fields, they tend to bring their light armor with them and get absolutely shredded by even stray shots.
I'm sure that a degree of it is just experience and familiarity, but they themselves have balked at some of the absolute nonsense I have survived.
Been favoring the light gunner armor since I first got it and now i know why. I just gotta remember to ALWAYS bring the vitality booster.
Yup!
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
This is HUGE. Thanks for the breakdown!

OMG i need SO much more explanation! This is fascinating and i REALLY wanna know the details. Thank you for your service to democracy!
@Eravin
I am a very new Diver that's only been around for about a week and so far have been running a variety of armors into battle.
I have no idea if I was running vit boost as well, but I was able to trudge 10-30 meter(s) distances without cover against medium bot forces (no hulks or turrets/tanks shooting me)
[distance depending on terrain or an outright slowing debuff like barbed wire/large plants]
Soaking in shot after shot as they hit me mostly in the arm and leg since my side was to them, and was even able to semi-consistently survive rocket raider shots and even was able to withstand 2 direct hits from a Rocket Devastators barrage due to him not hitting me square in the forehead.
I prefer the butcher for some reason
thing good to remember about explosive resistance
it allows you to do explosion jumping a lot more often and at a lot smaller cost (with best tool to do it I'd say being the autocannon)
xD
You're making Lady Liberty proud Eravin.
Lady Liberty is the only Lady for me so that's good
I love reading the Training Manual Tips in General Brash's voice while the match is loading. It makes them even funnier than they already are! XD
If I could touch the game files that be a fun idea to actually do as a mod lol
Great video! It’s clear, you show numbers on screen, easy to follow and you put all number together for an easy comparisson.
Would love to see values for Speed and Stamina aswell.
With 50 armor you take x% dmg with x% movement speed.
With 200 armor you take x% dmg with x% movement speed.
There are some great resources with the speed and stamina laid out floating around youtube already so I might not cover that bit personally
If everything in this videos is true, I think it's time to switch my go to Loadouts. Thanks
Great work 🎉🎉 on showing the math of everything
The Ministry of Truth knows no faults!
I suppose that just proves why starter armor is the best armor. It has the armor rating of a heavy armor and stamina booster increases it's sprint speed almost to the level of light armors (those are already at the cap of sprint speed before the booster)
Standard Issue with good reason it seems lol
Hey hey hey. I believe that subscriber count now says 10K!!!! Congratulations and thank you for all you do for the community.
Yep made it to 10k :D Quite the milestone and excited to be around for 90k more

I particularly liked your discussion about extra passing vs fortified passive. Light gunner for automatons and fortified for eradications it is!
Yep! thought that be good to end the debate on
@@EravinVT Wait why not default armor or marshmallow man?

I love my marshmellow man set. Taking the damage of a torso shot in light without vitality to the head with vitality is really good
Looks like extra padding vs robots, and explosive resist vs bugs because of the GD bile spewers. WHY they don't explain damage and perks better is beyond me... Great info here ty!

I ran the light gunner armor for quite a while, then when enforcer came into the picture I got it for bots
feeling like maybe I should try out the default/other medium padded armor from the shop
Fashion diving is the way to go.
Enforcer armour + Dynamo helmet goes HARD. You look like a trooper from the High Republic in Star Wars.

I only play in Heavy armour. No problem with movement when you have the stamina booster.
This can also explain why I like the "Mashmellow man" armour.
It meets a veryyyy nice breakpoint
A 170 would be really comfortable
Vit booster is so good. Wish my head didnt hurt so much

I’m kinda surprised that you responded to almost every single comment on this video, it must have taken a while but very good video as usual
I try haha
Gotta love Vit Booster haha
I love my stay puft armor.
Sure I'm a bit slower, but it can often mean the difference between surviving a burst, getting up, hitting a stim and returning fire *OR* just dying on the spot.
Combine with a shield or other defensive stratagems and you can take some fire semi-reliably for your squad.
That, and it makes me look like an absolute tank.
Love being the chonky boy
Yo this video is amazing. Im gunna try out the fortified light armor on bug missions, im usually running the scout or lite gunner on any mission lol
definitely going to be using vitality booster more often now
It's fantastic
Blessed be the number givers.

We really need a wave of fun to wash over the game about now and with the new mech primed to have 60 durable damage on it's cannon i'm worried
Just, more info is fucking amazing. I barely knew any of this shit, the game sure as shit doesn't telly you anything, like at all.

I've recently got alot of help from the hard working citizens at the Ministry of Truth in my discord
This does give me more reason to run the White Wolf armor once they get the texture fixed on the chest piece.
That said, my armor perk preference tends to lean more toward utility than survivability so I usually run a light or medium engineering kit set.

I did the whole main objects by myself when my team wanted to do map cleaning, I did map cleaning when my team decided to do main objectives)
It's definitely a playstyle but very painful. And forces you to pick the stamina booster to get anywhere.
Honestly this is one huge advertisement for Vitality Booster, running that plus Fortified has been a lifesaver in bot missions where I KNOW I should've died from a hit (like a Devastator rocket or a nearby tank shot impact)
But now that I kinda have an idea about the Armor Padding and Democracy Protects, this will help. I mostly disregarded Extra Padding because of the dubious effectiveness of it (and also because of the pretense of it being one of the first armors you unlock, and in most games that means it's meant to be 'outgrown') but after this, it's another piece of armor worthy of consideration added to the toolbox.
Basically Yeah
Because wow
Effectively it improves your damage resistance the same as armor does yeah
padding is the best perk light gunner and marshmellow man are my favorite armors lol
light gunner for bugs, and marsh for bots lol
ye
the marshmellow man armor has 200 armor due to its passive, so it cannot have another passive such as fortified or democracy protects
it's just extra funny numbers
