Alright, I have read all your comments, all the songs, one have a meaning, and two this isn't a contemporary church. For the last 3 or so countdowns the songs in the background have been hard rock/metal. Linkoln Park, Rage against the machines; Killing in the name, and so on. If that wasn't obvious. It's called a drum shield/drum cage. And also look how large this church is, even with Mic's the sound wouldn't reach very far, so no shield + Mic's = natural echo/reverb and a banging punchy sound. As a sound person myself the shield is useless, go to a Catholic Church if you don't want to hear amplifiers and microphones being used on stage. I go to a church that's about 1,000 people and they use a shield, in the back you can barely hear the drums most of the time. (I'm a drummer myself.) I don't mean to be rude but really don't complain about it being too loud.

Without the music, I never would have stuck around long enough to even hear about Jesus. As it turned out, Jesus Christ changed my life. I'm so thankful to the Flatirons band for being willing to "become all things" by speaking the musical language I already knew. That was the entry point that allowed the door to my heart to become open to hearing the truth from God's Word, and to realize that not only could I not save myself, but that I didn't need to, because Jesus Christ already made the way. Never change, Flatirons. There are plenty of churchy churches to church the already-churched. There aren't nearly enough churches willing to wade into the gutter with extended arms to seek out those of us on whom the rest of the church gave up long ago. God used this church and this band to bring me to the point that God could save and change my life. I'm forever grateful.

You could literally feel God's presence the second you walked into the building...It appears to me there are a lot of people on these message boards trying to take down something wonderful...I saw 4,000 people worshiping on a Saturday afternoon at 4pm - 4,000 people!!! They average 30,000 per weekend and are the largest Church in Colorado...Maybe you should attend a service...I'm certain the Pastor, whom you called "a whitewashed tomb full of dad [sic] mans bones", would welcome you with loving, open arms...

Your argument is that the ends justify the means, meaning music praising sin (libido, gun, etc) gets people in the door to hear the word, its acceptable. But by the same token, providing free drugs would get drug addicts in the door to hear the word, too. To increase the male attendance, providing prostitutes would also work. My question is, do you agree with these ideas, too? If you answered "no", it means that you agree that the ends don't justify the means and that you draw the line somewhere. So I just watched a big sponsor plug for the production involved at this church... by Sennheiser microphones . They really played up the audio value of the production. Regardless of opinions on the church itself... the audio quality is intensely mediocre for the amount of work put into it. The whole value of the production is kinda weak. The light show is basic flash and trash, the audio is sterile, the musicians are bar band level... I don't get it. If they're going for this "edgy" crap that many mega-churches constantly inch closer too, they flat out miss the mark. When churches try that, they are usually behind the times by the time they get the balls to try it. They cautiously work their way up to it, then by the time they get there, it's no longer cool. You still see guys at some mega churches wearing the coral necklaces, with the short on the sides.. spiked on top... with frosted tips hairdo's from the 90s, with their tribal tattoos, and the jeans with the studded designs on the back pockets, and the tight t-shirt thing going on... they put that whole look together thinking it's edgy and hip, and the kids will dig it. Whats going on!?!?!?

You need to move forward in your thinking. This brings the word to thousands every week. Our church uses this same style to share the word.

Your argument is that the ends justify the means, meaning music praising sin (libido, gun, etc) gets people in the door to hear the word, its acceptable.
But by the same token, providing free drugs would get drug addicts in the door to hear the word, too. To increase the male attendance, providing prostitutes would also work. My question is, do you agree with these ideas, too?
If you answered "no", it means that you agree that the ends don't justify the means and that you draw the line somewhere. But where do YOU draw the line?
To know where to draw the line, look at what Jesus did. He flipped the tables of the money changers for turning the temple into a place of business. What he did NOT do is say, " Well, these people selling here will bring people into the doors to hear the word."
Jesus obviously wanted the church to be a place of worship and nothing else. Your "forward" thinking isn't coming from God, its being given to you by someone who wants to break the church. The same deceiver who put the money changers there. Go praise Satan in your own Satanic church.

Wow, absolutely no discernment here and no respect for the act of worship. Do you not know who it is you are dishonoring? This church and their leadership need to repent. If the worship team is made up of wannabe rockstars, they should form a cover band and play clubs during the week, but don't bring this into God's house during what is supposed to be a "worship" service. Profane. You don't need to play a secular rock song to make a sermon topical or "relevant."
So I just watched a big sponsor plug for the production involved at this church... by Sennheiser microphones . They really played up the audio value of the production. Regardless of opinions on the church itself... the audio quality is intensely mediocre for the amount of work put into it. The whole value of the production is kinda weak. The light show is basic flash and trash, the audio is sterile, the musicians are bar band level... I don't get it. If they're going for this "edgy" crap that many mega-churches constantly inch closer too, they flat out miss the mark. When churches try that, they are usually behind the times by the time they get the balls to try it. They cautiously work their way up to it, then by the time they get there, it's no longer cool. You still see guys at some mega churches wearing the coral necklaces, with the short on the sides.. spiked on top... with frosted tips hairdo's from the 90s, with their tribal tattoos, and the jeans with the studded designs on the back pockets, and the tight t-shirt thing going on... they put that whole look together thinking it's edgy and hip, and the kids will dig it. Whats going on!?!?!?

The video of the Fixx is just my front of house board mix sync'd to a few fan operated cameras... basically homemade. I'd put that up against this any day. And i just use regular old whatever mic.... not much thought goes into it..... 57's, 58's, 81's, 421's.... just whatever the gig has available.
