@@onajgod As someone who has read The Chronicles of Narnia and is religious, from my perspective he's literally a reptilian version of Tash the Inexhorable, he sees in an animalistic night vision, he IS evil incarnate. His appearence in Rebooted on the other hand, I would agree with you, mid as fuck appearance who goes from horrifyingly uncanny demonic abomination to literal angry old man with a walking stick. They could have defeated him with a DIET PILL, that honestly lowered his creepiness by several points in my opinion. In Crystalized, his Oni Baphomet look actually does bring back some of that eerieness, but at the end of the day, its fucking Crystalized and so even he was effectively made into a joke.
I agree completely. Overlord imo has a creepy and menacing aura to him, and way more style with all the different forms he takes, which Omega lacks. He just feels like the general of the Oni, the same way Samukai is to the Skeletons
I actually really like Chen because of his parallels with Kai. Chen's desire to wield more power and his insecurity with not being satisfied with what he has works well with Kai clearly still despairing over not being the green ninja and being jealous of Lloyd. They both envy those close to them that they can't physically aspire to, but while Chen is willing to sacrifice his allies, Kai's care for his friends is what prevents him from following Chen's path. I feel this comparison was really well done and was one of the last times we got a good character arc for Kai (until DR)
Now that I think about it, 2015 really tested Kai's character... Kai in a way, post-S4 becoming "Lloyd's guardian" or brother-esque figure also parallels with Morro in S5.. A character who selfishly wanted to become the Green Ninja but decided to protect the one who deserves (more than twice) Vs.... A character who upon realizing he instantly was not the Green Ninja, went ahead to the deep end, there was no coming back, even holding such feelings beyond his death and becoming a ghost
@Vhie05 They gave Kai so much to work with, but after that they just kinda forgot about him for a while. Sure there was S7, but that was much more about his family and not his character Frankly, I'm surprised he never got a villain storyline. I always thought a symbiote style arc would work where all of his worst thoughts manifest and project until his allies are able to pull his humanity back out. With how self obsessed and insecure Kai is, I always thought it was a no brainer
Yea I'm surprised Kai hasn't gone willingly rogue at least once yet... All the other times the ninja were corrupted, it usually was brainwashing, hypnotizing, exposure to dark matter, and similar Kai's case in S4 was unique that him holding the Staff of Elements just aggravated and exposed his own feelings that deep down, he still genuinely wanted to be the special one, it was not out of some evil possession or brainwashing, Kai genuinely had that selfish intent in him. The staff just merely aggravated and highlighted it. Still one of the best corrupted ninja moments in the series, despite lasting only a mere few seconds and showing Kai's flaw, which is pretty neat . S11 did something similar with multiple characters going violent with Forbidden Spinjitzu, but imagine IF it was Kai actually kept holding on to it, and became the Fire Emperor instead of someone who is inherently a good person like Zane.
Honestly. They should've kept Kai as the sort of big brother of the entire group. Like I never really liked his characterization as a hotshot celeb that they were going for from Skybound. Kai was a blacksmith, and from the first season, he always seem like the team lead, and it honestly made sense for him to at least in comparison to the other ninja, he should be the most responsible one. He had to presumably, take care of both himself and Nya ever since their parents vanished, whilst also maintaining, and running their blacksmith shop by themselves, add onto his whole thing with the green ninja, they really made Kai a let down in the later seasons with not exploring his mature aspects. Being the ninja's sort of leader, lead guy, green ninja false-canidate, and of course being Llyod's mentor/big brother figure
Imo, the inconsistency and hypocrisy in Harumi’s character in the Oni Trilogy is part of the point. Her motive of wanting to get back at the ninja for failing to protect people is just a way of rationalizing and justifying to herself that what she’s doing is right, when in reality, she’s still a scared little girl who lost her parents, and wants power and control over a cruel world that doesn’t see her. There’s nothing she hates more than being weak, or feeling weak, so she pursues what she sees as strength. And ultimately, at the end of the day, what she really wants is to lash out at that world, to feel powerful and in control at the expense of everyone else. To feel strong. It’s only when she sees up close the consequences of her actions from the perspective of someone like her that she fully realizes the impact she’s having and somewhat comes back to reality. But that’s just my read
She didn’t come back to reality until she saw another kid about to become like her and DIED saving his family. (Crystalized is non canon for me at this point)
Once it got to top three, I thought "Okay, Garmadon, Pythor, then who else is missing?" (runs through all the seasons in my head) "Kalmarr? KALMARR?" I've never seen anyone rank him above Pythor. Definitely some interesting takes
Agreed, my personal favourite is Pythor, but I 100% agree garmadon is the best Ninjago villain. Kalmarr to me he always felt like a worse version of Pythor.

For me Morro is the best, his development just seems very natural and well-built ,in con easy to ,say,Garmandon ,who turned evil because he was bit by a snake ,but Morro turned evil because of some actions that affected his behavior , and in the end he redeems himself and his death is painful to watch .

What i love about Harumi in season 9 is how deadset and desperate she remains till the end. Garmadon almost executing her would be a catalyst for every other character to switch sides but not Harumi. She sacrificed so much and tries to justifie her path to the very end, going as far as gaining Garmadons aproval just to rub it in Lloyds face lateron. Plus she never struck me as a super inteligent mastermind. Just a quiet inteligent villain with good use of deception. She never used Zane going undercover as an advantage or someting big brain like that. So her less inteligent choices don't bother me that much. I also like how she carries the traits of al 3 Oni masks. She wants Vengance, she is driven by Hatred And she uses Deception. Without Crystelized she would be in my top 3.
What do you mean she didn’t take advantage of Zane going undercover? She blew his cover, used him to cripple the Bounty in Primeval’s Eye, led the rest of the SOG to the crash site, and separated Lloyd from the group to gain his trust (and the mask of hatred). I’d say those were pretty big brain moves.
@@IceMasterFilms I agree, I did actually not hate it. I did enjoy the first part. It might have been a little childish but not that bad. The second part had some good part, but I just didnt feel any stakes like Wu Surviving. And Harumi oh my. And Garmadon was fine. Nya, rushed. THe council wasnt used that much and they didnt feel that big of a threat. The army was so cool, but they found a way to deafeat them in like 5 minutes.

He’s pretty much the only snake general to still have braincells after being locked-up for so long! The Hypnobrai are my absolute favorite of the original four tribes (five, including the Anacondrai)
Same, all the classic Serpentine generals, pythor included are my favorites but Skales was always at the top. I wish they'd bring him and the others back some day, like Pythor.. I'd love to have all the generals in modern sets again.
I actually think that Harumi's "180" in character motive was good. Perhaps the mask of hatred slightly corrupted her, but regardless of that she started to lose track of her goals and motives once she was in reach of the goal. Her mishaps led to insanity, as well as an obsession with Garmadon once she revived him. I think that her dying in the same scenario her parents did showed one last realisation moment for her and perfectly tied up her character. What went wrong with Harumi IMO was bringing her back in Prime Empire and in Crystallized.
Technically speaking, the Harumi in Prime Empire is NOT the real Harumi, it was just used to mess with Lloyd and try to beat him in a 1v.1. But agreed that Crystalized ruined Harumi when she returned for real.
Part of why I love Morro so much is his bratty, petty personality. He feels like a spoiled, tantrum-prone toddler who was given a nuke. I especially loved that he had an entirely separate mission to complete in serving the Preeminent (who was a sick ass villain based on design alone), but chose to do it in a way that also happened to fulfill his uniquely selfish, childish desire to be destined for something more. That, and how he serves as a foil to Kai, someone who also longed to be the destined hero and instead funneled that desire into a more productive and altruistic goal of protecting him instead.
The thing about Pythor that I still find funny is that, as an Anacondrai, even as the weakest Anacondrai, he was probably the strongest villain in Season One outside of the Great Devourer and Garmadon. Even in Season One the Anacondrai were to be feared and hated, even by the other Serpentine, and while Pythor's an obvious subversion of what you were expecting them to be feared for, Season Four does recontextualize him being able to fight all four Serpentine Generals, including Skalidor, before even using the flute, as well as having the upper hand against Wu.
Garmadon might be my favourite villain in anything. He takes the idea of a pure evil kids show villain and treats it with so much nuance when written at his best. The idea of a pure evil villain with a weakness and love for his child and a ressurected evil to rediscover his humanity and atone is just so superb
Personally I think Nadakhan is the best villain the show has ever had. The way he manipulates people is always so fun to watch. His voice acting is also superb. If he ever did return, I think there’s a ton of potential and stuff they could do with him. He is definitely not perfect and he has flaws but his screen presence and entertainment value is so good that I don’t even care that much which I think is impressive in its own way
Imagine if it was him in Crystalized since they had teased the teapot in the background multiple times already. "I remember it all Jay". That would have been so good.
But why put so much effort into manipulating them when he can automatically win by ordering one of his crew members to make a wish? The voice acting was great tho.
Morro is one of my favorite villains. His backstory is tragic but his actions are inexcusable. He’s determined, manipulative, and bratty and we can feel sorry for him but still hate him
I never realized that about Vangelis until I saw it on twitter, but he would have had far less problems if instead of enslaving munces and geckles he just used those skeletons as workers
I know it’s controversial, but Overlord is my personal favorite. I know he’s not very deep, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the ‘embodiment of all things evil’ archetype, and I just think he’s cool. He was the best part of Crystalized for me, and kinda carried the season for me while everything else seemed to slowly fall apart. In short, I don’t care if he’s shallow, I just think he’s cool

I really like what Morro has going on with his determination to "defy destiny." hes a parallel to Kai because he could have similarly accepted his role in the universe as slightly smaller than he'd wanted, but he doesn't do that, he digs his heels in, grows stubborn and bitter and becomes a serious threat to the status quo / order. his unwillingness to give up would in any other circumstance be a heroic trait!
i love Harumi and nothing can make me change my mind, she was definitely one of the best even characters in the show back in Oni trilogy, her death scene always made me want to cry and now it’s all ruined, i won’t ever look back at it and feel the same cause she’s not dead anymore, i’ve always wanted her to be brought back, but i imagined it differently, they just messed up, why did she work for Overlord, like she was that type of character that would never let anyone take control of her expect Garmadon, where’s the love she had for Lloyd? i can’t believe she didn’t feel anything for him and i was completely disappointed how they redeemed her, like wtf ☠️, the better way would’ve been just make her realise she actually loves Lloyd and make Lloyd get her on his side and not just hearing that Overlord was the one that kinda caused her parents death, that’s the only thing i can’t forgive them, and as if she’s resurrected, where’s she now? what have they done to her? it’s been two seasons since we heard about her, GIVE ME HER BACK!!!! but besides it i’m happy she’s back and i could’ve seen her once again, maybe not in her true potential, but still
Chen is one of my personal favorites and i super agree with your analysis of his appealing traits, but i wanted to add some more points about him. Lust for power can be a bit of an underwhelming motive, but what i think differentiates chen from other similar villains is his involvement in the anachondrai wars. His desire to genuinely become a different species that he views as superior to his own provides an interesting view into what his image of ultimate power is, and the fact that the elemental powers (which are often treated as all-important) are just a means to his true goal makes said goal seem even more powerful and dangerous than previously thought. Plus, his sheer delight and theatrics while causing chaos is always wonderfully entertaining to me. I think it's another thing that sets his motive apart, because he doesn't JUST want to rule ninjago as a king and he doesn't crave destruction as part of some natural instinct, but he genuinely sees war and the ruination of people's lives as a fun game, and will go to incredible lengths to manipulate the outcome to make himself the winner no matter what. People have already pointed out how his envy of the elemental masters parallels kai's lingering envy of the green ninja, but chen also has great parallels to garmadon. ToE has heavy themes of how people are affected by their past, and i feel like this is exemplified in the way that garmadon learns and grows from his past in order to be a better mentor to lloyd and the ninja than chen was to him, while chen's whole plan is to create a false reenacment of a "glorious era" he constantly yearns for. Chen was even willing to use and harm his own daughter to achieve his goals, while on the other hand, even when garmadon had the great devourer's evil venom coarsing through his veins, he still cared deeply for his son. Another way in which they parallel each other is in the concept of trust. By playing both sides during the anachondrai wars, chen showed that he trusts no one. At the end of the season garmadon defeats chen by trusting that the anachondrai generals actually wanted peace as much as the elemental alliance did and trusting that they would help once they learned the truth of chen's deceit. Garmadon sacrificed himself to do what he believed was right by protecting the peace of ninjago, which is something that chen never would've been able to do. It's a nice story of atonement vs impenitence and breaking cycles of evil, and the way in which chen ties into the themes of the season is what elevates him to the top 5 in my personal villain ranking. I generally agree with most of your placements in this ranking and while i disagree with some, i feel like you didn't say anything that wasn't fairly justified by your explanations. With Harumi's inconsistency starting when she put the mask of hatred on, what if in some secret lore that was never shared, it corrupted her mind into full hatred. Oni were destroyers, what if the mask was made to channel a persons hate and destructive side, but she couldn't control it, leaving her to be lost in her own emotions. I've not seen crystallized, but that's my Oni trilogy guess
Putting Nadakhan on 7th place is like commiting a crime here.... He captured many Elemental Masters to his Djinn Blade, turned almost all Ninjas (except for Jay and Nya [despite her being cursed]) into golden statues and commited massive destruction for Ninjago, almost won the final battle if not the final bullet with the venom against him, and Jay's final wish... Skybound was a peak (and a season for "Jaya").
Can we discuss how amazing it is that your not blinded by nostalgia I’ve seen so many fans blinded by nostalgia and this has become way more prevalent with Dragons Rising introducing Cinder and Wyldfire wanting to be the new red ninja
Season 2 overlord was the absolute peak of villainy in Ninjago for me he doesnt have any depth as a character whatsoever but the pure aura and evilness he emits simply blew me away as a kid watching Ninjago on the TV. Hes a similar case to Frieza from dbz
I’m going to say this after Part 2 of season 2 Ras is easily top 3. SPOILERS AHEAD for Part 2 The way Ras manipulated Arin and used his insecurities against him was insane. He was so effective on Arin that he straight up left the Ninja and joined Lord Ras to find his parents. Him also taking advantage of the tournament of sources and rigging the games was also great.
@@onajgod honesty Arin was teaming up with ras cause he think ras wants to end the merge quakes and can find his parents arin really wants to find his parents....almost kinda simliar to Harumi... 2024 LEGO Ninjago San Diego Comic Con: FULL PANEL + Writer Interview! someone asked them if there is anything that they wanted to bring back in the older seasons and weren't able to who would they bring back they say that at 51:02-52:48................there was recently a comic con discussion and Doc Wyatt and Kevin Burke that they will bring back older characters to DR if they think they can conturibute or do something with the character, they do not want to bring back a character and have it been like it was before they want to bring back a character and move the character forward and develop the character. They have not brought back characters not because they don't love them or because they do not think they are great but because they do not have an inroad to narrative. they want to make sure when they bring back an old character its to improve them to enrich their current story and the previous story because they need to fit in the story line and for better development of their character and see what else they can do with their arc. I think they can bring back harumi as to help arin get on the right path and to show how she has seen the error of her ways and has grown smarter over the years and maybe Lloyd could mention to arin that he knew someone who had lost their parents too like him and it lead them down a dark path of vengeance that consumed them so much it almost killed them...(cause Harumi was brought back in Crystalized) or have Harumi kinda save Arin and take him away from Ras and they have a heart to heart talk or something like that it would be nice to see them interact in that sort of way what do you think?
I want to see so badly what Ras and arin will do now, and I'm very confident that the nine months worth of waiting won't disappoint even in the slightest. I expect something similar to arin helping Ras to get something done thinking that he knows how to find his parents and then Ras reveals that he can't actually help arin, and then arin tries to kill him.
Tbh I think that the motif of money in a kids show is way more interesting than revenge (especially in Ninjago where 3/4 of villains just want revenge). Plus morro is super overrated and his voice is very annoying

Secondly, he has one of the best backstorys of the show, the fact that morro has way more charisma than any of these villians, just means he was done right. I don't care if you say he is overrated, or the fact that he was glorified. It is deserved.

Lord Ras is the best villain in Ninjago due to his cunning, strength, and ability to manipulate others, making him an exceptionally formidable opponent for the ninja.
I don’t know about the rest of you guys but I found it pretty funny when Bendo Bricks was taking about General Vex One of the Blizzard Samurai was using his ice spear to poke nudge Lloyds face to see if he was alive or dead but regardless you all should watch that scene I’m talking about.
Let’s be honest. When an “not big” UA-camr posts a video about a topic you really like it always follows three guidelines Number 1. Their voice is annoying or they have a terrible mic Number 2. The way they talk about the thing you like is stupid Number 3. The editing is atrocious But this glorious specimen has managed to do the impossible and make a well edited video with logical, smart, reasonable points that anyone (and me of course) can agree am with and his voice isn’t annoying. Good video and I love your points however of course I don’t particularly agree with everything it doesn’t make is bad. 8/10 video
I've said it before but I'm pretty interested in what a Harumi like villain would look like who doesn't lose track of their goal, or I guess that would by definition end up being more of an antagonist, a group who feels like the heroes are incompetent and want to prove they can do better, you could still have them be the antagonists of the story like have the leader be so overly dedicated to their philosophy of protecting those who the heroes overlook they start to become unpleasant to be around making their generals feel less motivated for the cause and start failing at their goal despite genuinely being dedicated to it, guess for now this is just going to be one of those ideas I implement into my D&D campaign like thingies I do with friends Even so I still do really like Harumi as a character even despite her flaws, it's a lot like how I still feel the promised neverland is one of my favorite stories ever even if I don't really like how it ends(I'm not that big on how the manga ends either)

Pythor is my favorite villain because with kalmaar there isn’t really a backstory and is just a rehash of Pythor and Garmadon in S2 just feels plain incompetent and the fact that Lloyd doesn’t actually get to fight him sucks with Pythor he has backstory and motive that makes a lot of sense that’s done well because it’s something a lot of people in real life struggle with yeah you get locked up because you deserve it but it still makes you angry when you do and Pythor being locked away for so long would fuel an act of revenge and I like that he goes throughout so many seasons showing that someone like him can be so prevalent through your life no matter what and that’s why Pythor is my favorite villain
Apart from seabound and sometimes prime empire, i really can't watch ninjago post oni trilogy, so thanks for making this video so i can get a new perspective on the newer gen seasons (Don't think i'll be watching crystallised soon tho 😅)
Morro was the best villain in my opinon he wasn’t a villain with broken abbilitys or an army of people to do his bidding ( until he brought the preeminent to Ninjago) he was a skilled warrior who absolutely bodied the ninja possessed Lloyd and defied destiny his control of the wind was cool to see aswell unlike other villains who just kinda got the upper hand on the ninja by plot or the ninja not knowing much about them morro earned everything the scroll of airjitsu the sword of sanctuary and the realm crystal he deserved it and executed everything in a great way that didn’t feel forced or dry morro was just the ultimate warroir, smart, skilled and goated he was the best NINJAGO villain
Dude this was amazing. Honestly kalmar is genuinely one of the most expressive 3D animated characters I have ever seen in tv animation (Wojira to) He is amazing and deserves the top spot. Plus he learns to drive a van, Not relevant but I love that scene 😂
I can't lie, after Season 2 Part 2, Ras might actually be a top 3 villain. The way in which he uses the truth in order to manipulate Arin and even the audience due to us seeing the consequences of the ninja's actions through Harumi helps us already align with Ras. And the truth slowly being unraveled as the season progresses makes us actually trust Ras despite everything he had done up to that point. And the scene in episode 16 where Ras reveals to Arin that he could've gone at any time is just pure perfection. It shows just how good of a manipulator Ras is, that he's able to turn someone so full of life and hope to his side.
harumi stands my favourite. she was the only character i really didnt want to go away. she may feel forced into the show sometimes, but seeing her interactions with lloyd always puts a smile on my face.
I was waiting for like, young Lloyd to be number one bc he would be the only one who‘s acceptable to be over Garmadon and Python But I really dislike all the villains after season 7
My boy Scales got done dirty. I know he was always being pushed into Pythor and Garmadon's shadow, but he has such a good rise to power. He gets what he wants at the end but at what cost?
Lloyd and Harumi were around the same age when the devourer was defeated. then when Lloyd grew up with the tomorrows tea he was 16-17. how did Harumi just gain about 6-7 years to her age lol.
I think the problem with Harumi in Crystalized was that there was no evidence to suggest any romantic feelings or why she put up with Pythor. I personally think maybe try to explain the romantic feelings and give her more of a redemption arc and make her more consistent so her redemption and feelings at the end makes more sense. Basically it kept shifting so much with more questions than answers that the possibility of her being redeemed and growing to legitimately care about Lloyd would have made sense if it was written a certain way or depending on the cards if you will. I still see Harumi as a pretty amazing villain regardless and I still will see what happens before a more clearer answer or choice happens of sorts.
@marcsuraci7759 i think harumi was great up until ep 17 of Crystalized i think that is where things started to go downhill with harumi's character, based on the previous episode she did seem pretty hesitate to kill lloyd and looked like she was trying to have a heart to heart and then he drags her out of the oni temple and after that episode i thought yessss!!! now harumi is gonna go to the good side but i was wrong, so i would make lloyd and harumi have a conversation as they go through the jungle harumi would once again try and convince lloyd to join so he would not get hurt and lloyd would then proceed to tell her, i think it would go something like this but i have never written before so please take i lightly and don't be too harsh please Harumi: Lloyd, where are were going Lloyd: where are we going, we're getting out of here that's where we're going Harumi: this place, brings back old memories doesn’t it? Lloyd: yeah it does, ( he keeps on swinging his katana to keep the leaves out of his way) Harumi: Lloyd if you would just listen to me and join the Crystal King- Lloyd then turn to Harumi Lloyd: why? why Harumi why are you doing this? the overlord is gonna destroy everything including you, trust me, once he's done with you he'll betray you just like he did to my dad. Harumi: The overlord says in order to end all conflict one side must win and that’s the dark side, he says that there will be peace in the dark, that’s all I ever wanted Lloyd, why do u think I resurrected your dad, I knew you ninja couldn’t handle any threat that came in your way but your father can, after all he did destroy the great devour, the same monstrous snake that you and your ninja failed to stop and took my parents away. Lloyd sighs and this and keeps moving Harumi: deny it all you want you know it’s true you and the ninja failed Ninjago, as you failed me, you failed to save my parents and you failed to save me. Lloyd: Fine, but you should be careful for who you choice as you’re teammates, I’m guessing you’ve never read “Jack the Rabbit” before huh, Harumi: what has that got anything to do with it? Only the fact that the moral of the story is never to trust a snake, my uncle read me that book when I was 10 years old, it was there I I should have never trusted Pythor. Harumi it was him, Pythor was the one who released the great devour all those years ago and he was released by….oh…..no… Harumi: hmmmm….looks like my point was very well proven, you are responsible, for the death of my parents, for almost destroying Ninjago, you actions as a kid had a way of coming back to in the least possible way you could expect. Lloyd: I was just a kid! He falls on the floor, Lloyd: Just stop, stop trying to break me more than I already am, (crying) He feels a warm soft hand touch his shoulder, he looks up to find Harumi staring back at him with soft eyes, no hate in them just sympathy. Harumi: Lloyd…..I….. Then they hear the the crystal heard dragons coming, and they both run next to one of the trees, Harumi looks at Lloyd but he just turns away in sadness. Harumi: Lloyd… Lloyd: stop just don’t my friends are dead, everyone I’ve known and love is dead, Harumi: well not everyone Harumi tries to hold his hand but he brushes it away Harumi: I…I thought you loved me Lloyd: yeah..I did He meets Harumi’s gaze with sadness in his eyes then looks away Then the bounty shows up and Harumi is in shock and confusion and anger, Harumi: lloyd, lloyd look Lloyd: (sees the bounty) their…their alive Harumi: but how? I thought I? The crystal herd is then heard, Harumi looks at the bounty and then looks at lloyd Harumi: Go Lloyd: What? Harumi: go go now, Lloyd: but Harumi: I’ll hold them off go Lloyd: but what about you- Harumi: I’ll be fine your friends need you Lloyd go go now while you still have the chance, He runs then takes one last glance at Harumi Lloyd: I failed to save you once, I promise I won’t fail to save you a second time. Harumi: smiles, Lloyd returns it and Lloyd goes off the Destiny’s bounty with a newfound hope that maybe…just maybe Harumi can change. So that is how I would do 17, not much changes but I figured this might be the best way to go, she doesn’t go immediately to the side of good but has a better understanding of Lloyd and what she is doing she will turn to the good side but anyways what do u think? Lemme know what u think? do you like the ending i think people would have loved this episode cause this is probably what they were expecting after how the last one ended and the ending i am sure people would have loved that too what do you think? Tommy Andrason said he wanted to leave all of the characters in a happy place cause he was leaving and therefore ninjago can start anew again as everything is at peace i can see where he is coming from i did like the happy ending although the other ending the original could have been really good as well lloyd taking the place of the Crystal King and having the ninja and harumi off course try to bring him back to normal having the ninja remind lloyd of the good times and harumi admitting her wrong doings and apologizes and how she always liked him and cared for him but felt conflicted and that he is a good person and this is not him and lloyd can struggle and harumi adds on that he is strong and that he has always been strong and resilient everything she could not be but wants to try and become and how he is a real hero and then he struggles once more so harumi goes in for a hug (not a kiss cause that would cause controversy) and then the other ninjas join in and he returns to his regular self off course breaking down and apologizing for what he has done and off course having Master Wu and Garmadon die for real this time and then they all clean up the monstary or something like that what do u think? i would have prefered it better if we got more Lloyd and Harumi interactions towards the end or having her apologizing to him, they said in Harumi's and Lloyd's ninjago wiki that the two did make up and reconciled but it was off screen i would have much better prefered it on screen rather than leave it up to interpretation. I think this is the type of ending most people probably would wanted cause the trailer made the season look like there would be consequences and endgame style so yeah and harumi and lloyd would make a deal with the commissioner that she would help with the monstary and then go to jail what do u think? therefore it is like a combination happy ending and angst what do u think?

So much better that you’ve addressed the problems and insecurities they’ve both have here, something that those six writers just shafted aside. This is what Ninjago never even addressed and you pointed that out. 👍
Minor critique: I would include Skales as a major villain for these reasons. - He is given basically a full episode focussed on him becoming the general - He is the major villain at the beginning of season 2 up to when the megaweopon in ep3 id say. If you rewatch, Garmadon only becomes the main villain after skales gets trapped imo. (Also has villain episodes in early S1) - screen presence is very strong like chens (same va)
The weird thing about Ras is that he can go from being a top tier really cool villain that knows how to manipulate well and has a bunch of secret knowledge, even enough to say something as crazy and mysterious as "I know the truth about the universe" in S2 Part 2... and then the next minute he's like cowering in the corner being beaten up by kids or being dragged around like a ragdoll. One minute he's the master manipulator and his grand plan is beginning to unfold, and the next everyone has betrayed him and he's some weak tiger guy again. Maybe that makes him ruthless, never giving up on his master's plan despite being defeated time and time again. I guess we'll have to wait and see whether this is a good character trait or a bad one.
Pythor and the Serpentine are the goats. Part of me wishes they saved the serpentine plot for a later season so it could of had better animation and quality
Spoilers for the part 2 of season 2 I love how arin just started out the season as his usual happy go lucky self and progressively got from happy kid to an angry young man knowing that you can't even trust people you believed in and getting betrayed by them and them seemingly not even caring about your problem of course that's not true but arin is a 15 year old a age where either you blame yourself or others and from the stress from the last season yeah it's alot he's still our arin but he took his mother advice of not trusting anyone to literally

They have not brought back characters not because they don't love them or because they do not think they are great but because they do not have an inroad to narrative. they want to make sure when they bring back an old character its to improve them to enrich their current story and the previous story because they need to fit in the story line and for better development of their character and see what else they can do with their arc. I think they can bring back harumi as to help arin get on the right path and to show how she has seen the error of her ways and has grown smarter over the years and maybe Lloyd could mention to arin that he knew someone who had lost their parents too like him and it lead them down a dark path of vengeance that consumed them so much it almost killed them...(cause Harumi was brought back in Crystalized) or have Harumi kinda save Arin and take him away from Ras and they have a heart to heart talk or something like that it would be nice to see them interact in that sort of way what do you think?
For the top 5, it’s 1. Garmadon 2. Lord Ras 3. Harumi 4. Pythor 5. Morro Although Kalmaar is a bit of a surprise. Yet a welcome one. He’s what Unagami and Vangelis should have been.
Garmadon will always be the best villain in the show in my eyes, his storyline is genuinely amazing and his sacrifice in S4 was one of the best scenes in the show
Honestly I think Kalmaar should be lower than top 5, his motives are pretty similar to other villains in different shows. But if it’s based off of how messed up they were and how much damage they did to Ninjago, Kalmaar should be top 5
Never really liked Kalmaar as a villain, maybe because I always thought Seabound was overrated. My favorite villain is and always will be Morro, but I can see why you like Kalmaar so much
honestly i think Vangelis is misunderstood. He literally has the perfect motivation, and execution of this motivation, with no stupid plot holes making his plan not work. Its not his weakness. For me, he is the Harumi from the oni trilogy, but with possibly the best goal in entire ninjago. Cuz like he only cared bout shintaro it wasnt even about him. So yeah after some thought i think he is the best villain here. As for the worst villain its definitely harumi. Her motivation are flat and there is really only one, that can make her switch sides in a blink of an eye, when she gets to know that overlord cursed the snake. (even tho she teamed up with pythor who literally let the snake out of his prison like wth.) And in oni trillogy she may have been interesting and sth new, but still was nothing too good. (im only ranking the antagonists that had some plot for them not like omega who we know nothing about)
I'm still watching, some surprising picks so far, especially Overlord and Iron Baron. I would classify Clouse as a main villain. He was a main villain in many side materials and has a lot of connections to other main villains. He works with Chen, he freed Nadhakan, indirectly served the Overlord and lead the Pirates in Dark Island, and apparently there are some semi-canon ties between him and the time twins. I would even say he is the main villain of the post-Overlord era.

I’ve always felt that the Overlord gets too much criticism. The “embodiment of evil” brand of villains aren’t supposed to be too complex. They’re meant to represent concepts. They act as forces rather than characters, tempting other more interesting characters to act on their dark impulses. (Palpatine is another example) They serve as foils for characters like Garmadon, and are also great at raising the stakes of the plot

@@onajgod As someone who has read The Chronicles of Narnia and is religious, from my perspective he's literally a reptilian version of Tash the Inexhorable, he sees in an animalistic night vision, he IS evil incarnate. His appearence in Rebooted on the other hand, I would agree with you, mid as fuck appearance who goes from horrifyingly uncanny demonic abomination to literal angry old man with a walking stick. They could have defeated him with a DIET PILL, that honestly lowered his creepiness by several points in my opinion. In Crystalized, his Oni Baphomet look actually does bring back some of that eerieness, but at the end of the day, its fucking Crystalized and so even he was effectively made into a joke.

I agree completely. Overlord imo has a creepy and menacing aura to him, and way more style with all the different forms he takes, which Omega lacks. He just feels like the general of the Oni, the same way Samukai is to the Skeletons

I actually really like Chen because of his parallels with Kai. Chen's desire to wield more power and his insecurity with not being satisfied with what he has works well with Kai clearly still despairing over not being the green ninja and being jealous of Lloyd. They both envy those close to them that they can't physically aspire to, but while Chen is willing to sacrifice his allies, Kai's care for his friends is what prevents him from following Chen's path. I feel this comparison was really well done and was one of the last times we got a good character arc for Kai (until DR)
Now that I think about it, 2015 really tested Kai's character... Kai in a way, post-S4 becoming "Lloyd's guardian" or brother-esque figure also parallels with Morro in S5..

Frankly, I'm surprised he never got a villain storyline. I always thought a symbiote style arc would work where all of his worst thoughts manifest and project until his allies are able to pull his humanity back out. With how self obsessed and insecure Kai is, I always thought it was a no brainer
Yea I'm surprised Kai hasn't gone willingly rogue at least once yet... All the other times the ninja were corrupted, it usually was brainwashing, hypnotizing, exposure to dark matter, and similar
Kai's case in S4 was unique that him holding the Staff of Elements just aggravated and exposed his own feelings that deep down, he still genuinely wanted to be the special one, it was not out of some evil possession or brainwashing, Kai genuinely had that selfish intent in him. The staff just merely aggravated and highlighted it. Still one of the best corrupted ninja moments in the series, despite lasting only a mere few seconds and showing Kai's flaw, which is pretty neat . S11 did something similar with multiple characters going violent with Forbidden Spinjitzu, but imagine IF it was Kai actually kept holding on to it, and became the Fire Emperor instead of someone who is inherently a good person like Zane.

Honestly. They should've kept Kai as the sort of big brother of the entire group. Like I never really liked his characterization as a hotshot celeb that they were going for from Skybound. Kai was a blacksmith, and from the first season, he always seem like the team lead, and it honestly made sense for him to at least in comparison to the other ninja, he should be the most responsible one. He had to presumably, take care of both himself and Nya ever since their parents vanished, whilst also maintaining, and running their blacksmith shop by themselves, add onto his whole thing with the green ninja, they really made Kai a let down in the later seasons with not exploring his mature aspects. Being the ninja's sort of leader, lead guy, green ninja false-canidate, and of course being Llyod's mentor/big brother figure
Imo, the inconsistency and hypocrisy in Harumi’s character in the Oni Trilogy is part of the point. Her motive of wanting to get back at the ninja for failing to protect people is just a way of rationalizing and justifying to herself that what she’s doing is right, when in reality, she’s still a scared little girl who lost her parents, and wants power and control over a cruel world that doesn’t see her. There’s nothing she hates more than being weak, or feeling weak, so she pursues what she sees as strength. And ultimately, at the end of the day, what she really wants is to lash out at that world, to feel powerful and in control at the expense of everyone else. To feel strong. It’s only when she sees up close the consequences of her actions from the perspective of someone like her that she fully realizes the impact she’s having and somewhat comes back to reality. But that’s just my read

What i love about Harumi in season 9 is how deadset and desperate she remains till the end. Garmadon almost executing her would be a catalyst for every other character to switch sides but not Harumi. She sacrificed so much and tries to justifie her path to the very end, going as far as gaining Garmadons aproval just to rub it in Lloyds face lateron.
Plus she never struck me as a super inteligent mastermind. Just a quiet inteligent villain with good use of deception. She never used Zane going undercover as an advantage or someting big brain like that. So her less inteligent choices don't bother me that much.
I also like how she carries the traits of al 3 Oni masks.
She wants Vengance,
she is driven by Hatred
And she uses Deception.
Without Crystelized she would be in my top 3.
What do you mean she didn’t take advantage of Zane going undercover? She blew his cover, used him to cripple the Bounty in Primeval’s Eye, led the rest of the SOG to the crash site, and separated Lloyd from the group to gain his trust (and the mask of hatred). I’d say those were pretty big brain moves.

The second part had some good part, but I just didnt feel any stakes like Wu Surviving. And Harumi oh my. And Garmadon was fine. Nya, rushed. THe council wasnt used that much and they didnt feel that big of a threat. The army was so cool, but they found a way to deafeat them in like 5 minutes.

He’s pretty much the only snake general to still have braincells after being locked-up for so long! The Hypnobrai are my absolute favorite of the original four tribes (five, including the Anacondrai)

I actually think that Harumi's "180" in character motive was good. Perhaps the mask of hatred slightly corrupted her, but regardless of that she started to lose track of her goals and motives once she was in reach of the goal. Her mishaps led to insanity, as well as an obsession with Garmadon once she revived him. I think that her dying in the same scenario her parents did showed one last realisation moment for her and perfectly tied up her character. What went wrong with Harumi IMO was bringing her back in Prime Empire and in Crystallized.
Technically speaking, the Harumi in Prime Empire is NOT the real Harumi, it was just used to mess with Lloyd and try to beat him in a 1v.1. But agreed that Crystalized ruined Harumi when she returned for real.

Part of why I love Morro so much is his bratty, petty personality. He feels like a spoiled, tantrum-prone toddler who was given a nuke. I especially loved that he had an entirely separate mission to complete in serving the Preeminent (who was a sick ass villain based on design alone), but chose to do it in a way that also happened to fulfill his uniquely selfish, childish desire to be destined for something more. That, and how he serves as a foil to Kai, someone who also longed to be the destined hero and instead funneled that desire into a more productive and altruistic goal of protecting him instead.
The thing about Pythor that I still find funny is that, as an Anacondrai, even as the weakest Anacondrai, he was probably the strongest villain in Season One outside of the Great Devourer and Garmadon. Even in Season One the Anacondrai were to be feared and hated, even by the other Serpentine, and while Pythor's an obvious subversion of what you were expecting them to be feared for, Season Four does recontextualize him being able to fight all four Serpentine Generals, including Skalidor, before even using the flute, as well as having the upper hand against Wu.
Garmadon might be my favourite villain in anything. He takes the idea of a pure evil kids show villain and treats it with so much nuance when written at his best.
The idea of a pure evil villain with a weakness and love for his child and a ressurected evil to rediscover his humanity and atone is just so superb

Personally I think Nadakhan is the best villain the show has ever had. The way he manipulates people is always so fun to watch. His voice acting is also superb. If he ever did return, I think there’s a ton of potential and stuff they could do with him. He is definitely not perfect and he has flaws but his screen presence and entertainment value is so good that I don’t even care that much which I think is impressive in its own way
Imagine if it was him in Crystalized since they had teased the teapot in the background multiple times already. "I remember it all Jay". That would have been so good.

Morro is one of my favorite villains. His backstory is tragic but his actions are inexcusable. He’s determined, manipulative, and bratty and we can feel sorry for him but still hate him

I know it’s controversial, but Overlord is my personal favorite. I know he’s not very deep, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the ‘embodiment of all things evil’ archetype, and I just think he’s cool. He was the best part of Crystalized for me, and kinda carried the season for me while everything else seemed to slowly fall apart.

I really like what Morro has going on with his determination to "defy destiny." hes a parallel to Kai because he could have similarly accepted his role in the universe as slightly smaller than he'd wanted, but he doesn't do that, he digs his heels in, grows stubborn and bitter and becomes a serious threat to the status quo / order. his unwillingness to give up would in any other circumstance be a heroic trait!

Chen is one of my personal favorites and i super agree with your analysis of his appealing traits, but i wanted to add some more points about him. Lust for power can be a bit of an underwhelming motive, but what i think differentiates chen from other similar villains is his involvement in the anachondrai wars. His desire to genuinely become a different species that he views as superior to his own provides an interesting view into what his image of ultimate power is, and the fact that the elemental powers (which are often treated as all-important) are just a means to his true goal makes said goal seem even more powerful and dangerous than previously thought. Plus, his sheer delight and theatrics while causing chaos is always wonderfully entertaining to me. I think it's another thing that sets his motive apart, because he doesn't JUST want to rule ninjago as a king and he doesn't crave destruction as part of some natural instinct, but he genuinely sees war and the ruination of people's lives as a fun game, and will go to incredible lengths to manipulate the outcome to make himself the winner no matter what.
People have already pointed out how his envy of the elemental masters parallels kai's lingering envy of the green ninja, but chen also has great parallels to garmadon. ToE has heavy themes of how people are affected by their past, and i feel like this is exemplified in the way that garmadon learns and grows from his past in order to be a better mentor to lloyd and the ninja than chen was to him, while chen's whole plan is to create a false reenacment of a "glorious era" he constantly yearns for. Chen was even willing to use and harm his own daughter to achieve his goals, while on the other hand, even when garmadon had the great devourer's evil venom coarsing through his veins, he still cared deeply for his son. Another way in which they parallel each other is in the concept of trust. By playing both sides during the anachondrai wars, chen showed that he trusts no one. At the end of the season garmadon defeats chen by trusting that the anachondrai generals actually wanted peace as much as the elemental alliance did and trusting that they would help once they learned the truth of chen's deceit. Garmadon sacrificed himself to do what he believed was right by protecting the peace of ninjago, which is something that chen never would've been able to do. It's a nice story of atonement vs impenitence and breaking cycles of evil, and the way in which chen ties into the themes of the season is what elevates him to the top 5 in my personal villain ranking.
I generally agree with most of your placements in this ranking and while i disagree with some, i feel like you didn't say anything that wasn't fairly justified by your explanations. Great video as always!!

With Harumi's inconsistency starting when she put the mask of hatred on, what if in some secret lore that was never shared, it corrupted her mind into full hatred. Oni were destroyers, what if the mask was made to channel a persons hate and destructive side, but she couldn't control it, leaving her to be lost in her own emotions. I've not seen crystallized, but that's my Oni trilogy guess

He captured many Elemental Masters to his Djinn Blade, turned almost all Ninjas (except for Jay and Nya [despite her being cursed]) into golden statues and commited massive destruction for Ninjago, almost won the final battle if not the final bullet with the venom against him, and Jay's final wish...

Season 2 overlord was the absolute peak of villainy in Ninjago for me he doesnt have any depth as a character whatsoever but the pure aura and evilness he emits simply blew me away as a kid watching Ninjago on the TV. Hes a similar case to Frieza from dbz

The way Ras manipulated Arin and used his insecurities against him was insane. He was so effective on Arin that he straight up left the Ninja and joined Lord Ras to find his parents. Him also taking advantage of the tournament of sources and rigging the games was also great.

someone asked them if there is anything that they wanted to bring back in the older seasons and weren't able to who would they bring back
they say that at 51:02-52:48................there was recently a comic con discussion and Doc Wyatt and Kevin Burke that they will bring back older characters to DR if they think they can conturibute or do something with the character, they do not want to bring back a character and have it been like it was before they want to bring back a character and move the character forward and develop the character. They have not brought back characters not because they don't love them or because they do not think they are great but because they do not have an inroad to narrative. they want to make sure when they bring back an old character its to improve them to enrich their current story and the previous story because they need to fit in the story line and for better development of their character and see what else they can do with their arc.
I think they can bring back harumi as to help arin get on the right path and to show how she has seen the error of her ways and has grown smarter over the years and maybe Lloyd could mention to arin that he knew someone who had lost their parents too like him and it lead them down a dark path of vengeance that consumed them so much it almost killed them...(cause Harumi was brought back in Crystalized) or have Harumi kinda save Arin and take him away from Ras and they have a heart to heart talk or something like that it would be nice to see them interact in that sort of way what do you think?
I want to see so badly what Ras and arin will do now, and I'm very confident that the nine months worth of waiting won't disappoint even in the slightest. I expect something similar to arin helping Ras to get something done thinking that he knows how to find his parents and then Ras reveals that he can't actually help arin, and then arin tries to kill him.

Tbh I think that the motif of money in a kids show is way more interesting than revenge (especially in Ninjago where 3/4 of villains just want revenge). Plus morro is super overrated and his voice is very annoying

Let’s be honest. When an “not big” UA-camr posts a video about a topic you really like it always follows three guidelines
Number 1. Their voice is annoying or they have a terrible mic
Number 2. The way they talk about the thing you like is stupid
Number 3. The editing is atrocious
But this glorious specimen has managed to do the impossible and make a well edited video with logical, smart, reasonable points that anyone (and me of course) can agree am with and his voice isn’t annoying.

I've said it before but I'm pretty interested in what a Harumi like villain would look like who doesn't lose track of their goal, or I guess that would by definition end up being more of an antagonist, a group who feels like the heroes are incompetent and want to prove they can do better, you could still have them be the antagonists of the story like have the leader be so overly dedicated to their philosophy of protecting those who the heroes overlook they start to become unpleasant to be around making their generals feel less motivated for the cause and start failing at their goal despite genuinely being dedicated to it, guess for now this is just going to be one of those ideas I implement into my D&D campaign like thingies I do with friends
Even so I still do really like Harumi as a character even despite her flaws, it's a lot like how I still feel the promised neverland is one of my favorite stories ever even if I don't really like how it ends(I'm not that big on how the manga ends either)

Pythor is my favorite villain because with kalmaar there isn’t really a backstory and is just a rehash of Pythor and Garmadon in S2 just feels plain incompetent and the fact that Lloyd doesn’t actually get to fight him sucks with Pythor he has backstory and motive that makes a lot of sense that’s done well because it’s something a lot of people in real life struggle with yeah you get locked up because you deserve it but it still makes you angry when you do and Pythor being locked away for so long would fuel an act of revenge and I like that he goes throughout so many seasons showing that someone like him can be so prevalent through your life no matter what and that’s why Pythor is my favorite villain

Morro was the best villain in my opinon he wasn’t a villain with broken abbilitys or an army of people to do his bidding ( until he brought the preeminent to Ninjago) he was a skilled warrior who absolutely bodied the ninja possessed Lloyd and defied destiny his control of the wind was cool to see aswell unlike other villains who just kinda got the upper hand on the ninja by plot or the ninja not knowing much about them morro earned everything the scroll of airjitsu the sword of sanctuary and the realm crystal he deserved it and executed everything in a great way that didn’t feel forced or dry morro was just the ultimate warroir, smart, skilled and goated he was the best NINJAGO villain

I can't lie, after Season 2 Part 2, Ras might actually be a top 3 villain. The way in which he uses the truth in order to manipulate Arin and even the audience due to us seeing the consequences of the ninja's actions through Harumi helps us already align with Ras. And the truth slowly being unraveled as the season progresses makes us actually trust Ras despite everything he had done up to that point. And the scene in episode 16 where Ras reveals to Arin that he could've gone at any time is just pure perfection. It shows just how good of a manipulator Ras is, that he's able to turn someone so full of life and hope to his side.
harumi stands my favourite. she was the only character i really didnt want to go away. she may feel forced into the show sometimes, but seeing her interactions with lloyd always puts a smile on my face.

I think the problem with Harumi in Crystalized was that there was no evidence to suggest any romantic feelings or why she put up with Pythor. I personally think maybe try to explain the romantic feelings and give her more of a redemption arc and make her more consistent so her redemption and feelings at the end makes more sense. Basically it kept shifting so much with more questions than answers that the possibility of her being redeemed and growing to legitimately care about Lloyd would have made sense if it was written a certain way or depending on the cards if you will. I still see Harumi as a pretty amazing villain regardless and I still will see what happens before a more clearer answer or choice happens of sorts.

i think harumi was great up until ep 17 of Crystalized i think that is where things started to go downhill with harumi's character, based on the previous episode she did seem pretty hesitate to kill lloyd and looked like she was trying to have a heart to heart and then he drags her out of the oni temple and after that episode i thought yessss!!! now harumi is gonna go to the good side but i was wrong, so i would make lloyd and harumi have a conversation as they go through the jungle harumi would once again try and convince lloyd to join so he would not get hurt and lloyd would then proceed to tell her, i think it would go something like this but i have never written before so please take i lightly and don't be too harsh please
Harumi: Lloyd, where are were going
Lloyd: where are we going, we're getting out of here that's where we're going
Harumi: this place, brings back old memories doesn’t it?
Lloyd: yeah it does, ( he keeps on swinging his katana to keep the leaves out of his way)

Lloyd then turn to Harumi

He feels a warm soft hand touch his shoulder, he looks up to find Harumi staring back at him with soft eyes, no hate in them just sympathy.
Harumi: Lloyd…..I…..
Then they hear the the crystal heard dragons coming, and they both run next to one of the trees, Harumi looks at Lloyd but he just turns away in sadness.
Harumi: Lloyd…
Lloyd: stop just don’t my friends are dead, everyone I’ve known and love is dead,
Harumi: well not everyone
Harumi tries to hold his hand but he brushes it away
Harumi: I…I thought you loved me
Lloyd: yeah..I did
He meets Harumi’s gaze with sadness in his eyes then looks away Then the bounty shows up and Harumi is in shock and confusion and anger,
Harumi: lloyd, lloyd look
Lloyd: (sees the bounty) their…their alive
Harumi: but how? I thought I?
The crystal herd is then heard, Harumi looks at the bounty and then looks at lloyd

Lloyd: What?
Harumi: go go now,
Lloyd: but
Harumi: I’ll hold them off go
Lloyd: but what about you-
Harumi: I’ll be fine your friends need you Lloyd go go now while you still have the chance,
He runs then takes one last glance at Harumi
Lloyd: I failed to save you once, I promise I won’t fail to save you a second time.
Harumi: smiles, Lloyd returns it and Lloyd goes off the Destiny’s bounty with a newfound hope that maybe…just maybe Harumi can change.
So that is how I would do 17, not much changes but I figured this might be the best way to go, she doesn’t go immediately to the side of good but has a better understanding of Lloyd and what she is doing she will turn to the good side but anyways what do u think? That is only for Return to Primevel’s eye! Lemme know what u think? do you like the ending i think people would have loved this episode cause this is probably what they were expecting after how the last one ended and the ending i am sure people would have loved that too what do you think?
Tommy Andrason said he wanted to leave all of the characters in a happy place cause he was leaving and therefore ninjago can start anew again as everything is at peace i can see where he is coming from i did like the happy ending although the other ending the original could have been really good as well lloyd taking the place of the Crystal King and having the ninja and harumi off course try to bring him back to normal having the ninja remind lloyd of the good times and harumi admitting her wrong doings and apologizes and how she always liked him and cared for him but felt conflicted and that he is a good person and this is not him and lloyd can struggle and harumi adds on that he is strong and that he has always been strong and resilient everything she could not be but wants to try and become and how he is a real hero and then he struggles once more so harumi goes in for a hug (not a kiss cause that would cause controversy) and then the other ninjas join in and he returns to his regular self off course breaking down and apologizing for what he has done and off course having Master Wu and Garmadon die for real this time and then they all clean up the monstary or something like that what do u think? i would have prefered it better if we got more Lloyd and Harumi interactions towards the end or having her apologizing to him, they said in Harumi's and Lloyd's ninjago wiki that the two did make up and reconciled but it was off screen i would have much better prefered it on screen rather than leave it up to interpretation. I think this is the type of ending most people probably would wanted cause the trailer made the season look like there would be consequences and endgame style so yeah and harumi and lloyd would make a deal with the commissioner that she would help with the monstary and then go to jail what do u think? therefore it is like a combination happy ending and angst what do u think?

So much better that you’ve addressed the problems and insecurities they’ve both have here, something that those six writers just shafted aside. This is what Ninjago never even addressed and you pointed that out. 👍
Minor critique: I would include Skales as a major villain for these reasons.
- He is given basically a full episode focussed on him becoming the general
- He is the major villain at the beginning of season 2 up to when the megaweopon in ep3 id say. If you rewatch, Garmadon only becomes the main villain after skales gets trapped imo. (Also has villain episodes in early S1)
- screen presence is very strong like chens (same va)
the dnakes sre the most iconic part of ninjago tbh
you see the blue guy and tour immediately hit with nostalgia
The weird thing about Ras is that he can go from being a top tier really cool villain that knows how to manipulate well and has a bunch of secret knowledge, even enough to say something as crazy and mysterious as "I know the truth about the universe" in S2 Part 2... and then the next minute he's like cowering in the corner being beaten up by kids or being dragged around like a ragdoll. One minute he's the master manipulator and his grand plan is beginning to unfold, and the next everyone has betrayed him and he's some weak tiger guy again.
Maybe that makes him ruthless, never giving up on his master's plan despite being defeated time and time again. I guess we'll have to wait and see whether this is a good character trait or a bad one.
Pythor and the Serpentine are the goats. Part of me wishes they saved the serpentine plot for a later season so it could of had better animation and quality

I love how arin just started out the season as his usual happy go lucky self and progressively got from happy kid to an angry young man knowing that you can't even trust people you believed in and getting betrayed by them and them seemingly not even caring about your problem of course that's not true but arin is a 15 year old a age where either you blame yourself or others and from the stress from the last season yeah it's alot he's still our arin but he took his mother advice of not trusting anyone to literally

Garmadon will always be the best villain in the show in my eyes, his storyline is genuinely amazing and his sacrifice in S4 was one of the best scenes in the show

Honestly I think Kalmaar should be lower than top 5, his motives are pretty similar to other villains in different shows. But if it’s based off of how messed up they were and how much damage they did to Ninjago, Kalmaar should be top 5
Never really liked Kalmaar as a villain, maybe because I always thought Seabound was overrated. My favorite villain is and always will be Morro, but I can see why you like Kalmaar so much

honestly i think Vangelis is misunderstood. He literally has the perfect motivation, and execution of this motivation, with no stupid plot holes making his plan not work. Its not his weakness. For me, he is the Harumi from the oni trilogy, but with possibly the best goal in entire ninjago. Cuz like he only cared bout shintaro it wasnt even about him. So yeah after some thought i think he is the best villain here. As for the worst villain its definitely harumi. Her motivation are flat and there is really only one, that can make her switch sides in a blink of an eye, when she gets to know that overlord cursed the snake. (even tho she teamed up with pythor who literally let the snake out of his prison like wth.) And in oni trillogy she may have been interesting and sth new, but still was nothing too good. (im only ranking the antagonists that had some plot for them not like omega who we know nothing about)

I would classify Clouse as a main villain. He was a main villain in many side materials and has a lot of connections to other main villains. He works with Chen, he freed Nadhakan, indirectly served the Overlord and lead the Pirates in Dark Island, and apparently there are some semi-canon ties between him and the time twins. I would even say he is the main villain of the post-Overlord era.

He was ok in season 2 even tho it would have been way cooler and more emotional if Garmadon had been the main villain. And crystalized is crystalized. Nothing really stands out about the overlord

I’ve always felt that the Overlord gets too much criticism. The “embodiment of evil” brand of villains aren’t supposed to be too complex. They’re meant to represent concepts. They act as forces rather than characters, tempting other more interesting characters to act on their dark impulses. (Palpatine is another example) They serve as foils for characters like Garmadon, and are also great at raising the stakes of the plot
