all your videos are amazing and extremely interesting. and its impressive that in all these videos all we hear is "safety this" "safety that"...everything is designed with safety in mind. a good educational series of videos for people with fear of flying
Was the garage door closed? Should have left it in gear. I lost a 757 that way. Rolled right out onto the street and got hit by an a321. I think they were texting they said they didn't see it.
Surprising! in aircraft maintenance , all parts are put on the floor, no case, carbord, box! i never do that when i change my car wheels, but it's not a big plane.
I agree this is the best ever DIY clip on changing a tyre..... Takes DIY to a whole new level....... " remember to depressurise the hydraulic brake system, put landing brake on and be careful when removing debris cover for fear of breaking the tachograph. !!!!! Beats the normal ones about the Ford Fiesta !!!!!
You’re absolutely correct, yet in the real world, aircraft mechanics do it this way all the time. It’s just easier to have one tool for both loosening and tightening. Plus the torque wrenches are recalibrated annually, so you would know it if you knocked one out of calibration.
Well you would have to have some basic knowledge of a330 wheel removal of course, but I’m sure the steps are similar enough that you don’t need to spend to much time researching how to remove an a330’s wheels.
Pro tip: trust a nylon tiestrap to keep that 80lb control rod outta the way and stop it from falling on the next guy.. And torque wrenches should be calibrated after beating parts with it.
Nice video, but for a maintenance procedure in a controlled environment, it lacks one safety item. The wheel and brake should have been removed with a dolly designed for this specific job, which allows one person to do the job, much safer than two or three people. The shown procedure is used when one is in the boondocks with little support from better tools. But in a hangar, with the airplane on jacks, it would have looked better if the dolly was used instead of hand labor. Of course, it's much easier to do all this when one is in a nice dry hangar, when the brake and wheel are not hot, or when it's not raining, snowing, 40°C +, or the pressure of passengers waiting, thru flight, etc. But in all fairness, good presentation.
3:35 "unscrew the wheel nut using the appropriate tool" a torque wrench is not used for anything but measuring torque on a fastener and not in reverse. Even I know that and I'm just a truck driver ffs
I played a joke on my co worker while we were changing the brakes one time: while he was under the gear removing the brake hub I let the jack down on him...Man u shoulda heard him scream! 😂
This video may have been posted 6 years ago but certain clues like, the body sweat suit, mustache, no PPE, narration and 70’s music lead me to believe it was made in 76’
Let me see if I have this correct: The wheels on a main landing gear are removed with hand tools; the locking bolts are secured with cotter pins; landing gear assemblies are held out of the way with zip ties; break assembly is put on a wooden pallet. Okay, I've got it.
Never seen anyone depressurizing the hydraulic accumlator since it is absolutely unnecessary because the hydraulic lines to the brake are quick-disconnect couplings.
I’ve never seen anyone pull any circuit breakers, either, though I imagine it would be a bad day if your partner turned on the brake fans while you were trying to remove them.
And that’s exactly how it’s done in the real world, except they would never bother depressurizing the hydraulic system or pulling any circuit breakers, either.
Same thing with ordnance nose fuzes; screw in nose cavity until it stops, back off a half turn and then snap it. Worked everytime for me, don't need torque wrench on flight deck.
Just what I needed. A diy step by step to change the brakes on my A340.
Best DIY video on the tube!! Okie dokie.. time to get back to my garage and finish the job on my A340.
lmaoooo
Haha! Lol - I just have to remove the 4 and continue with the restoration of my A30, which does indeed fit in my garage!
Obrigado por
Just bought a second hand A340 for cheap and glad i found this video. Now i can save heaps by doing the job myself...
Yeah, me too. Can you get re-mould budget tyres for these rim sizes?
. I can pilot for you Cameron, I am awesome on Top Gun the arcade game.
Doh!
I'm an airline mechanic making $150k a year and I watch UA-cam videos to learn to work on planes..... I'll never fly again

Thanks! Just ordered my A340 from Ebay so excited to try this!
LOL!!
KKKKK
Great tutorial. Now I feel ready to change the brakes on my A340!
Finally, I can put on these new brakes I bought for my personal A340. So good of UA-cam to recommend this to me.
Thanks for the posting. Next time I don't need to go to the mechanics, I will change it myself :)
Thanks to UA-cam, after the apocalypse I’ll be able to fly and maintenance my own 747. It’s going to be awesome.

very useful video, now i can change the brakes on my daily drive...
Looks so simple and elegant from outside but contains such intricate and complex internal mechanisms. Engineering marvel an airplane.
I think the same thing when I watch a video like this!! Amazing!

It is easy but not ths installing part..

...Man....I'm LOVING THIS !! AWESOME !!Thank you SO much !!
You are welcome.
Such a great video...Next I am waiting for my flight to board, I am going to go and change a few tires on it. Easy stuff!
awsome now im gonna go change it on my airplane.
Perfect Now I just need to buy an airplane thanks 🙏
i love these videos. they are like a haynes manual for your airbus :)
excellent sequence wise demo. Useful for trainees.
so this is what i missed, parking brakes. my aircraft rolled out of my garage.

Thanks my friends Very good
You're not supposed to use a torque wrench for loosening bolts.
But why? I mean it makes the job easier since you can apply more torque on those bolts. With a normal wrench, you need to apply more force
You’re absolutely correct, yet in the real world, aircraft mechanics do it this way all the time. It’s just easier to have one tool for both loosening and tightening. Plus the torque wrenches are recalibrated annually, so you would know it if you knocked one out of calibration.
wish my Ikea furniture had an instructional vid like this

Now I can change my A340-600 breaks myself. Thanks.
This not the procedures for change wheel and brake assy, the technicians must be use gloves and crane and hoist for removed the brake assy......
Nice video...................
I'm watching this just in case the landing gear brake need to be replaced while I am in the airplane. You never know..

.
Where are your equipments? Are u gonna use toothpick??
XD
Yeah in case you get flat tires there is a spare under the plane.
@@carlmichael4979actually there ıs a spare wheel 😊
Thank you so much ❤❤
so if a flat tire leaves you stranded on the side of the skyway, you'll know how to put on the spare
Is there a glove shortage there?
Tough mechanics always don't use them. 👍
COOL!!! I have the same brakes on my 97 Dodge Caravan...
Interesting 👍👍 subscribed
were safety srews installed correctly ? on 03:18
Will this work on my a330?

Yes. A340 and a330 wheels are the same. Same landing gear.

Anyone know the torque spec for the axle nut? Trying to get this job done before dark.
It’s in the pubs....
I did this but I think there's still some air in the system. What is the proper way to bleed A340 brakes? Feels more complicated than my wife's A318.
🤔🤣🤣🤣
Somehow I don't like the way they work. They guy kneels on the concrete, the parts are scattered on the floor...
Carl Napp Thought the same thing. You'd think they'd have a specialized cart or something.
Carl Napp Yeah, What happens if your changing jet tire overlooking a mountainous cliff & by accident kicked the hubcap over the cliff?

Thanks! This tutorial has saved me a ton of cash. Anyone have a link to do engines?
Can't wait for my new A380 wheels to arrive.
Big job , very cheap tools it's very funny.
love the video
5:02 is that a freaking 16 piston clutch break?

wow alot of brake pads on the wheel...
do have ball bearing on the axle or not
Nice video, but for a maintenance procedure in a controlled environment, it lacks one safety item. Yup, that’s what I saw too.
OMFG......
And yet, that’s the way it’s done every day at airlines all over the world.
Chris fix would love this job
HAHAHA Hey guys Chris fix here and today i m gonna change the brakes of an airplane hahaha
Handy DIY.
If you own the same aircraft 😆
I was just in AutoZone the other day and says to myself.....Self.....remind me to ask them if they have brake rotors for a A340 center bogie axle.
Otro nivel
can anyone tell me why is the wheel rotated in the same direction as the wheel torqued?
It's to gain a more accurate torque measure. of the wheel nut.
It’s to make sure the bearings are fully seated on the axle and not binding.
Please show in close up removing the cotter pin, unscrewing sensor etc.
very nice

I played a joke on my co worker while we were changing the brakes one time: while he was under the gear removing the brake hub I let the jack down on him...Man u shoulda heard him scream! 😂
Very useful! :D
I was just wondering what kind of brakes those things have
Will it work on my bike ?
Super
After watching this video alone do I qualify to become an airplane mechanic?particularly a wheel & breaks maintenance man?it really looks easy to do
This video may have been posted 6 years ago but certain clues like, the body sweat suit, mustache, no PPE, narration and 70’s music lead me to believe it was made in 76’
Wear safety gloves please
Next time. 👍
Just check it out it's a very interesting system, stator rotor, stator rotor, stator rotor etc etc....hey
Not keen relying 100% on a hydraulic jack! No Fixed stands?
the entire plane is sitting on massive jack stands, the hydraulic jack only compresses the strut enough to raise the wheel off the ground
This would be a good commerical for GoJo.
I just did this job in my garage the other day
We’re can I get the rubber work outfit it looks cool
Ask your gay buddies, they'll have one.

+Aziz Garut Yeap..I totally agree.
1:30 Did he say "taco-meter?" As in, "How many tacos are inside that wheel hub?" Never heard anyone say tachometer like that before.
npsit1
I would want alloys on my plane yeah?
nice
This is a maintenance video - not meant for the general viewer.
+hawkeye0248 OK
Nice to see that even $300 million dollar jets also use cotter pins to secure wheel nut! I guess why make things complicated.
I had a bad headache after watching this video.
Please give this guy a pair of work gloves
Gotta get me some of those brakes for my Miata.
On the plus side, chavs will struggle to steal those wheels.
Never seen anyone depressurizing the hydraulic accumlator since it is absolutely unnecessary because the hydraulic lines to the brake are quick-disconnect couplings.
+warpigxp It might be a safety layer in case the quick-disconnect fails to close automatically once disconnected.
corisco tupi Yes of course, you're totally right. I just have never seen anybody doing it :-P
I’ve never seen anyone pull any circuit breakers, either, though I imagine it would be a bad day if your partner turned on the brake fans while you were trying to remove them.
No gloves, no safety glasses, things laying on the floor to trip on, using a torque wrench to loosen things.
That's exactly what shocked me too!
So?
And that’s exactly how it’s done in the real world, except they would never bother depressurizing the hydraulic system or pulling any circuit breakers, either.
I always use the German torque standard..."GUDntight"

Gays use gloves.
Tough guys using tough hands.
Brakes look a lot different than what I expected
Changing the wheel and brake on a 747 is not that complicated and the procedure takes less time.
Use the appropriate tool... and the guy uses the side of a hammer to knock a piece lose.
John Burton Maybe his boss is real cheap.
Thanks for sharing the video 😊
I going to buy an Antonov An-225 with 32 wheels.
This will really help me 😁😁
