if Guybrush was voice acted by a frech, people still would play it.. So i don't think it really matters that much. The only ones who''s leave would be die-hard fans.
No matter how much I love the first two MI's... Blood Island just had so much atmosphere that it made my favorite MI. To be fair, the old verb system had the issue of having multiple verbs that could be used for the same thing (use or open for example) and verbes like "push/pull" are used.. once? in the first MI.. the part where you move the seesaw to hit the banana tree..
I definitely prefer this over MI2. That one dragged on for too long and was too difficult. This game has perfect balance between flow and difficulty. I also love the greenish colored backgrounds.
This one is ok,,,,, Money 2 SE would be my favorite, only because i grew up with the original on the Amiga. In fact, i have a in for point'n'click adventures. The gameplay of Monkey 2 was better in a way. Particually that instruments being disabled n cut-scenes when you enter/exit.. I can see why they never did THAT again.
@@Tech-geeky Yeah MI2 will always be my favorite, and hearing the updated soundtrack was a blast (tho I still love the Amiga version). If you haven’t seen it, find some of the videos on the iMuse system: it was insane how much work went into getting the music to transition on the fly like that.
Between this and your NWN2 review from 2010, I really see progress in your voice over. The atmosphere on Blood Island is quite dense. CoMI didn't turn dark or anything, but it was a nice change of pace. Murray was also a great edition. I hope Ron Gilbert's Thimbleweed Park will turn out great.
I look back on those older reviews and cringe at how terrible my voiceovers were. I occasionally entertain the idea of making "redux" versions but never really get around to it. Thimbleweed Park definitely looks interesting. We'll see how that goes.
Didn't they do voice acting in 'Money Island 2: Le chucks Revenge Special Edition" ? Evidence of this would probably come from the commentary in-game you can choose by the three creaters themselves.
There are many things to love about MI3, but the cartoony sprites look so flat against the rich background like paper cutouts. Also, their movements seem more limited and jerky somehow than in the first two games. M1 and M2 feel much more fluid and dynamic by comparison. As you say, the ending falls flat in this game. The first two games had epic endings. In M1 you're rushing back to the starting location to gatecrash a wedding. In the second game there's a wonderfully surreal dissolve at the end. In both cases, you defeat lechuck with an improvised superweapon. As I remember, in the third game you throw some pepper at him and some snow falls on him THE END.
This game didn't introduce the difficulty setting, Monkey Island 2 also had it, but they removed it when they re-released it on CD (and of course in the special edition remake). you can still get it if you play the game with Scummvm.
The Secret of Monkey Island was my second video game ever, after Prince of Persia, so I'm quite biased towards it. But I think the problem with the Curse of Monkey Island was that it was clearly targeted for children. And yeah, you wouldn't laugh that much in the Secret of Monkey Island 2, but that game was so huge that someone could argue it was even better than the original (not me, of course). Like, of course you can prefer the third because of this and that, but you wouldn't find that many people that agree with you on that. 😊
MI2 is in my top 3 games ever. It is a matter of perspective I believe, I was waiting for MI2 and MI3 to come out and would close myself off to any spoilers re solutions. Coming at the game later the solutions were there? and the instigation to fully run down the dialogue wasnt?
When I was a kid, with a pc speaker, imagining the voices in my head was an amazing way to enjoy the game. After completing the game many times, when I heard the talkie, I was excited, but something was lost. I was more a spectator than a participator. There is something to be said about Imagination vs Technical Evolution that leaves little to the imagination.
I wanna play this game! I use to watch my mother play this game and she is trying to find the game everywhere.. we had a copy of the game in a CD please if u do know how can we play it again....😢

MI3 is IMO the weakest of the franchise. Tha "magic" was lost in this one ... prbably because Gilbert etc. were not involved here. the athmo and humour does not match or the originals. It feels like this was made for younger kids while MI 1 + 2 was made for older teenagers. The story and riddles are really lacking compared to other LucasArtsgames.

How are you able to play a 90s PC game in 16:9 that uses drawn animation for it's graphics? Is this stretched or something?
+Dominik Sobolewski I'd assume the artwork was done with 4:3 aspect ratio in mind.
I correct the footage's aspect ratio in editing.
I don't know how you could play MI 1 to 3 without the voice acting personally. I think it'd feel a bit empty without it.

Sadly it hasn't been made available digitally, so if you want to pick up a copy you'll need to find a used one somewhere.
