I want to see Koreans trying Korean food...that's right, I want to see Koreans in their natural habitat. I wrote this comment on my Samsung Galaxy note 8.
Wait! An italian food video with foreign people tasting it and no italian people commenting under the video?! How is this even possible? Ragazzi dove siete?
@Eric Yoder Spices are a bit too strong ≠ Food is too spicy Are you a native English speaker? I'm not. Seems like a mistake I would make, but I don't know. Anyways look it up, spices don't make food spicy.
Born and raised in United States. Watching this video makes me feel like I've never eaten real Italian food before lol. I guess Dominos, pizza hut, Olive garden, carrabas, etc. Doesn't make real Italian food.
I would not say that, I was born and raised in Italy and I suspect that even italians don't eat real italian food anymore. Let me be clear...most of the best italian dishes are quite elaborate and are based on some local ingredients that can be very hard to find outside their original region. So even if I grew up thinking I knew everything about italian food I come to understand that if you want to taste the "real" pizza you must eat one in Naples, if you want to taste a delicious "pesto" you must eat it in Liguria, "pasta con le sarde" in Palermo, "ragú e tortellini" in Bologna and so on. Nowadays even italians don't have time to cook as required by our tradition...so...yeah... McDonald's for everybody.
@@lucalucente3797 i don't know where you're from and who are the people you hang out with, but that's definitely not true. I eat REAL Italian food everyday, and so do 99% of the people I know. Italian cuisine is not just LASAGNA, PIZZA etc, it's how you cook the meal, many times the semplicity but high quality of the dish make it "italian" You don't have to eat carbonara everyday dude
No? Esatto...quello che stavo dicendo.
It was all perfect until the lasagna, I don’t know why people keep thinking there’s cheese in it, the real lasagna has what we call BESCIAMELLA which is not properly a cheese, it’s a mixture of flour butter and milk. A side that I’m really impressed on how every dish was pretty much looking like the real Italian dish, GREAT JOB 👍🏻
"There's a separate stomach for dessert" that's something we always say here in Italy! Despite the distance & cultural difference we are more similar than we expect (especially when it comes to appreciate good food!). :D
Oh yeah and believe me, for having a lot of friends in Korea and hanging out with them quiet often, I can tell you that Koreans (including ladies) has a lot of separate stomachs lol It's actually impressive, I've never saw anything like them in my entire life, they can go to three different restaurants in the same evening and ask you if you still have some space for a dessert. I'm a good eater, I really am but I can't beat any Korean I know at this game. And the best part, they don't gain weight in the process. One of my Korean friend told me that they have a dark hole for stomach, I think I believe her lol
@@Stevesrssrssrs what I'd like to know is how accurate is other countries food in America (and really any country), as shown in this video some had what they thought was Italian food but it ended up being different than if it's from an authentic one >.> I know I've tried Japanese food and some Korean food in the US but something tells me it would be totally different from what I'd see in their home countries.
@@joesmith701 You're right, some food in let's say Olive Garden, is food real Italian people have never heard of. But, there was a huge influx of Italian immigrants to New York in the early 20th century, so if it's not a national chain, and you're in NYC, then that's gonna be as authentic as possible!
@@Stevesrssrssrs Korean food in America is so different from the stuff in Korea that it might as well just be Chinese food. I lived in Korea for a while (a month) and there is no comparison.
The world would be a better place if we could just all sit down together and share our food. I have never seen someone angry with a stomach full of food and a beer to quench their thirst.
As an italian i really appreciated this video, there were a little bit of culture gap with pasta since noodles have a completly different consistency... but in the end these girls were so kind and made me happy by hearing their opionins!
OR- enough has been learned, and other cultures have learned to adapt it into a tasty full meal, instead of 3 bites of bland pasta you pay €50 for because the Placebo Effect makes you believe it’s good and high class.
Was it really that good?? I only ask because, as an American, I grew up on thick crust, stuffed crust, 5 meat, and / or 3 cheese pizzas. So much that you usually can't eat a whole pizza by yourself. Those shown, on the other hand, I believe I could eat a whole one without any problem because it doesn't look like there's a lot there.
mydoggylives just cause you live in America doesn't mean you have to only eat pizza hut 🤣. Most metro areas will have more authentic Italian style pizza.
I'm italian and I just wanna say that the food looks authentic, for real. I live in America and sometimes i just wanna scream when i hear about pasta alfredo.. It doesn't exist in Italy! Try to go to any restaurant in Italy and ask for pasta with alfredo sauce...
The "pasta Alfredo" is simply a "pasta al burro" (pasta with butter) that the Americans call like that because it had been made famous among the tourists by the Roman restaurant "Alfredo alla Scrofa". Any restaurant does it if you ask it. Simply Italians usually don't go to the restaurant to eat what they do at home if they have no other ingredients left.
From my experience in korea (6 months) Korean eat everything sweet or spicy, so whatever doesn't fit that standard it taste weird for them, and its normal ... but so bad for them because they lose out so much of different food. I was working ina restaurant (italian) but everything they did was koreanized , so almost no salt because as soon as you put some "its so salty" Their carbonara was basically tasteless :/ But its nice to know that somewhere they're starting to accept different taste and expand their culinary horizons. And lol that girl nailed it 100% The other restaurant should change their sign.. it should be illegal to give so much bad face to italian food with those crappy restaurants that want to sell the name , more than the product. :/
Yeah Koranized Italian is pretty damn bad. It was horrible I had to pay for the atrocious Koreanized cream pasta just so I could put it for 2 seconds in this video lol
About 25 years ago I resurfaced a wood floor for an old Italian woman who didn't speak any English. Her son told me and my co worker that she insisted that we stay for lunch and that she would feel insulted if we didn't. That was some of the finest food I have ever eaten. That meal made me very thankful and happy.
I am Italian and I love our cuisine, but I also like to try the kitchens of other countries. In every culture you can find a great treasure. The richness lies in the discovery of the diversity.the very best viedeo, thank you so much ^ _ ^
- Olive Garden, + Brera.
Makes me realize how lucky I am to have an uncle who’s a first generation immigrant from Sicily. Came here with no English skills, now 3 years later, he and I are like best friends lol. His family makes lasagnas and homemade noodles, and uncle makes tiramisu and limoncello. And in return, I make them cocktails and teach them English via Scrabble (lmao). I’ve started asking him if he’d make tiramisu for my birthday and he does like every other year. I didn’t even know it could come in cake form. He put it in jars one year, then in a massive baking tin, and now he puts them in tin and plastic hotdog containers. And every year is better than the last. Miss that guy now. Homesick for a place I’ve never been.
Federico Pinna acquired skill I guess. They make their own pasta and lasagna because they don’t like store bought stuff. His family is p weird about food and alcohol sometimes lmao.
@@bigidiotdumbstupidguy9329 i'm italian and i can see that, we always buy dry pasta because we eat it at lunch basically everyday so is faster that way but home made pasta is on a whole other level. Also there are a lot of people who like to make their own stuff even if they don't really live in the countryside
You can really feel the appreciation from your videos. I love the history and editing that goes behind it. Every video feels like a true passion project.
Most cabonara served outside of italy is with regular cream. But the real carbonara is made creamy with some of the water which was used to boil the noodles.
This is my favorite series of its kind on UA-cam. I was so happy to see you put out a new video today. Keep up the great work and please don't make us wait so long between new videos.
Shooting the next one in 2 weeks. Wish we could put out more but making videos takes time and money. With all of us working full time it's a challenge, but comments like this reinforces it's all worth it!
Korean use pastes more than salt itself when cooking- Soybean paste, Pepper paste, Soy sauce... of many different types. These paste/sauce contain high sodium but it's fermented. So when Korean food still very salty it doesn't have direct salty flavor. It's kinda hidden under fermented tangy taste.
@@juncatv nope, you're wrong, and right at the same time, as Sofia is wrong and right at the same time: it's attributed to both regions, since the origin is uncertain
@@Moribax85 sorry but check your facts. Recently the italian goverment recogniced tiramisu as a traditional dessert of that region because it was found that the oldest versions were from Friuli.
@@juncatv buddy, i'm italian, i know what i'm talking about. it wasn't the italian government, it was the friulan regional government that inserted it into the regional traditional cousine, saying that it's a traditional dish in that region, nothing more, the debate about its origin is still on
@@Moribax85 you are italian... so what? I'm married to a friulan. What you should do is read the book of Clara and Gigi Padovani which closes the debate on the matter.
You guys put out amazing content. Been watching and following since the Korean Girls try America BBQ series. Keep up the amazing work. Really loved the SMB references in this one and the Lo-Fi beats!
Interesting video. A lot of “Italian restaurants” abroad are indeed serving something which doesn’t exist in Italy, or which is so far from the traditional version that it wouldn’t be named as an Italian dish (that doesn’t mean it can’t be tasty, obviously! 😀) Funny how all the videos showing the great variety of regional cuisines in Italy have the same Sicilian or Neapolitan soundtrack, even for dishes of central and northern regions 🤣
All those dishes looked fantastic but I really want some of that pizza. Love how the girl was about to grab another slice of prosciutto pizza when she realized she hadn't even tried the margarita one yet lol
Timothy As an italian, I can confirm that's absolutely authentic italian food. It's pretty rare seeing a foreign italian restaurant actually serving real italian food. Usually pasta is overcooked, to adjust to foreign tastes, pizzas are overloaded with strange toppings, etc.
One issue though... That’s not a Roman style pizza. Roman pizze are served “al taglio” or “by the foot.” They are rectangular and long. Slices are cut for you with scissors. My favorite topping is potato slices, which is also very Roman.
@@afcgeo882 No, Roman style pizza is also served as a round one. The difference with the Neapolitan style one lies in the dough: Roman is thin and crunchy, Neapolitan thick and soft.
tricky dick Pizze tonde or basso are common in Rome, but are not from Rome, nor are they unique to Rome. They’re common all around the country. Their only difference is that they use olive oil on the dough to make it crispy. In contrast, rectangular pizza that’s sold at room temperature, cut with scissors and sold by weight is from Rome and is unique.
Good gods, the girl in the white with her hair up is gorgeous..... I love these videos of them trying authentic versions of foreign foods. Great stuff.
i loved her as well. not just her appearance, but her attitude and atmosphere were great as well. i adored that she was sitting up so straight and had a sort of classy feel
I just watched the behind the scenes video from your Korean Girls try pizza and the guy who gave the rant was hysterical and his comments on pickles was spot on. So when the one girl asked for pickles, I almost choked on my coffee. Perfect!
@deliverence You are right in that Asian desserts do exist but they are typically not sweet and sugary like western desserts. I have been introduced to Vietnamese desserts recently and they are really nice but more savoury than sweet
The girl in the blue and white blouse and the girl in the floral blouse were my favorites. They were so cute and funny, and really appreciated the amazing Italian food. Great video, guys!
Digitalsoju TV No, not one of the best, it’s the best. You know why ? Take all the good stuff cooked in the video, every single one. In italy, they would be better by 20 miles. Remember also we have more than 500 hundreds types of bread, best wine in the world, over 100 different types of “ salumi “, and I could keep going forever. The fact is simple, there so many dishes and variations even an italian could not know them all. It’s impossible. I have seen pretty much all the countries out there, no country could be compared to Italy when it comes down to food. Not a single one.
Dude, Italian food is great. But so is Indian, Chinese, Greek, Korean (BBQ). It's really ignorant to call a certain country's food the best. Apparently the country with the most Michelin stars is....Japan. So on paper, one could argue Japan has the world's best food - though raw fish might not be for everyone. This concept might be tough for you to comprehend..

Great video! I love watching their reactions to different food. Reminds me of when my relative, Marcello, from Sardinia, came to stay with me and tried all our different foods.
I think it's important to say that the Koreanized versions of things aren't necessarily "wrong". But the reason that we Italians get so up in arms about our cuisine is exactly because of the reactions in this video. When you have the real, authentic version, it's often better than the adulterated version; there's a reason many of these recipes haven't changed for decades or centuries. But if you like your carbonara with cream, you can make and eat it that way if you like it better. As long as you're at least aware of the original way.
Agreed. Though some other versions of Italian food taste ok-ish, but I still prefer the Authentic Italian flavor when I go to get Italian food. I love the taste!
3:33 "Facepalms in Korean" 6:05 "Eats pizza in Korean" 10:12 "Speechless in Korean" - subtitles are on point. Last edit: I miss Jieun's take. Does she have scheduling conflicts or she's just not working with Digitalsoju TV anymore?

Cliffracer Ma per piacere. I gusti son gusti però non fomentare disinformazione all'estero.
@@albertocassinelli1218 No, it's rare to find a place that is as good. Some places exist that are owned by Italians, have Italian chefs and import their ingredients, but over time that becomes increasingly difficult to maintain. Also, contrary to belief, New York City does not have the best Italian food in the U.S.
Polpette is like a meatball that is served throughout Italy. It's ground beef or veil and often fried and eaten by itself, but in the southern parts of Italy its often in a tomato sauce like in the states, but is served as it's own dish and not with any pasta.
Ameircanised Korean food really isn't that off.. Most places are run by Koreans anyways. Unless you go to a kbbq place in the middle of nowhere in middle America, you get decent Korean foodm
Exactly! It's so sweet and the noodles never taste right haha. The pizza is also just not the same. Glad there are some truly authentic places now though
One thing I've learned from watching "Koreans Try" videos... Koreans seem obsessed with saltiness and greasiness. I'm not saying that's a bad thing... just an observation.
EXACTLY! good tomatoe sauce, good mozzarella (while i prefer bufala than vaccino one) good oil and some fresh basil leaves and you simply have perfection. only THEN you can say if it's a good pizza and add other ingredients.
I believe that in Italy we eat even better than that, but above all we have a variety of excellent dishes that can only be enjoyed here. However fun to see the impressions of the ladies.
Accents change over time even if the words remain the same. If you hear Shakespeare reading his own work, you’d think he sounds Scottish instead of English .
Koreans traditionally have such a limited palette for food. For some reason, they just don't seem to like any food other than Korean food. More than any other nationality, the Chinese and Japanese are so adventurous with food compared to Koreans. 90% of my Korean friends won't stop complaining about how much they miss the food back in Korea event though there's so much Korean food and so much variety here.
Aw man I miss the usual girls...where's Jieun, Hye Young and Ye-seul? Still a great clip though. I dig the "Korean Girls Try" series. Very fun to watch.
Loved the reactions, and yeah, that looked like ACTUAL, competently cooked Italian food, which is refreshing for a "Italian restaurant" in a foreign country. If I wanted to be a bit picky I could say that none of that looked like "top notch" Italian food, but I'm sure it was more than good enough.
I find it strange that so many of them don't like things too salty but they eat a lot of kimchi...isn't that quite salty?? the girl in blue and white and the one in the floral pattern shirt together are so cute. I would love to take them out to a restaurant.
the caucasian server speaking perfect Korean is more impressive than what they think of the food...shrugs shoulders..just me opinion....props 2 u girl...
To me this video is funny because of their reactions. It just goes to show that Korea is not as diverse as it’s counterparts like Tokyo or other Asian metropolis. Even SE Asian metropolis like Manila or Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur or Jakarta have wide diversity in culinary options and people are more open to not just food but culture in general. Korea is still pretty closed off however slowly but surely I think they are just now discovering the culinary world. It’s a start to being open minded to other cultures. Pickles with pasta is pretty funny although it makes sense due to the amount of cream & cheese used in Italian dishes. I gotta say though, authentic Italian food, if you travel to Italy, is not as greasy as some people might think. In the US we use a lot of cream & cheese excessively & the food is overwhelmingly salty & greasy. In Italy, the way they prepare it is way less greasy and far more superior than the American way. If the restaurant allows it, ask for your dish to be prepared with less of the cream & cheese and pair your pasta with a salad with vinaigrette dressing. 👌🏼
I've been to many western restaurants in Manila. The food is definitely Filipino-ized. McDonalds with chicken legs, rice, and gravy, burgers with orange-and-green tomatoes, Pizza Hut that doesn't come with pizza sauce as an automatic ingredient, etc. I love Manila and the Philippines and want to eventually live in province in the Philippines, but their western food is still a local variant of western food.
+Armygirlsdad - that's a good point too. As far as I'm concerned, localized versions aren't considered the real thing. Seoul has had burgers, pizzas, Italian food, Japanese food, Chinese food, Mexican food, etc for decades. But only recently did authentic places start opening up.
Sky Muhammad, I've tried explaining sauerkraut to Asians as "the German version of Kimshi" but I don't know how accurate my vague description is. I'd love to see the girls try bratwurst and sauerkraut, pork roast and sauerkraut, and suchlike. My family has (or had) a tradition of eating pork and kraut on New Years Day as a good luck or good fortune thing. My great grandmother made it every year, and it was delicious.
Sky Muhammad Ahhh gotcha lol. Would something like..fair/carnival foods be easier? 😃 deep fried goods like Oreos, soda, funnel cakes and things on sticks.
Moon doggie that probably wouldn’t be as much of a hit since street food is so prevalent and very similar to carnival and fair snacks (other than the deep fried snickers bars).
I noticed a lot of concern about some of the food being too salty. I'm an American living in the Philippines and once at a pizza place with a Korean he complained about the meat lovers pizza that it was to salty. I thought that it was the best. Most Asian sausage seems to me to be to sugary. Maybe this is a difference in cultures. Americans expect meat dishes to be salty. Koreans expect meat to be sweet.
Every time I was presented with the pickles I felt offended. It’s like saying “I can’t gag down korean food with the presence of that rotten kimchi in front of me!” Don’t try the food if you’re just going to whine about how it’s not your country’s food.
HMS, I agree and I suppose my point is how pickles are the sides to too many dishes here in the US. As I read through the stats it seams most Americans like pickles at 66% but it seems 18% of those don't eat pickles on their own. This works out to less than half eat pickles for the taste. Another group of stats reveals only 42% of Americans like pickles on their own. Because of our food waste problem finally making the news, lots of establishments are asking if you even want a pickle. I can't find any survey on the average response to that. What I found has been tainted by a promotional firm. As for me I like hamburger relish if it's not too sweet. Carls has a dile pickle I like with a touch of sugar and that works out great on my burgers at home too. But in the end a good potato salad has to have diced dile pickle. If a dish is greasy I highly recommend a light wine or Ale to clear the palette followed by a decent work out the next day. 😋
One thing that I found interesting was how the Koreans reacted to some of the spices used in Italian food. When I was in Korea one of my favorite meals was curry which can have very strong flavors but their taste seemed to really appreciate balance and harmony.
The lasagna was the Northern Italian version with bechamel sauce . Southern Italian lasagna is with tomato sauce. Since most Italian-Americans are from the South, it's what we know as lasagna.
Italiani fatevi sentire! Intasiamo i commenti!
As someone who is currently in naples i have fallen in love with the pasta alla genovese. I did not know that it was actually a local dish until now, that explains why it is the best pasta you can find in naples

It was all perfect until the lasagna, I don’t know why people keep thinking there’s cheese in it, the real lasagna has what we call BESCIAMELLA which is not properly a cheese, it’s a mixture of flour butter and milk. "There's a separate stomach for dessert" that's something we always say here in Italy! Despite the distance & cultural difference we are more similar than we expect (especially when it comes to appreciate good food!).
:D
Oh yeah and believe me, for having a lot of friends in Korea and hanging out with them quiet often, I can tell you that Koreans (including ladies) has a lot of separate stomachs lol
It's actually impressive, I've never saw anything like them in my entire life, they can go to three different restaurants in the same evening and ask you if you still have some space for a dessert. I'm a good eater, I really am but I can't beat any Korean I know at this game.
And the best part, they don't gain weight in the process. One of my Korean friend told me that they have a dark hole for stomach, I think I believe her lol
It's funny how things like food, art, music, etc. Really can bring people together even when you can't speak the same language.
my mum always said that as well and she's from denmark!
We sat that in Spain too :-)

The "pasta Alfredo" is simply a "pasta al burro" (pasta with butter) that the Americans call like that because it had been made famous among the tourists by the Roman restaurant "Alfredo alla Scrofa". Any restaurant does it if you ask it. Simply Italians usually don't go to the restaurant to eat what they do at home if they have no other ingredients left.
I feel you, for me it's walking into a chinese place and they sell you "chop sui" (literally means kitchen scraps and leftovers)

Their carbonara was basically tasteless :/ But its nice to know that somewhere they're starting to accept different taste and expand their culinary horizons.

9:20 girl in blue marry me please, I'm in love with you!
I might ask her friend out :)
i call dibs on the tall one in the right..let's go get them bro
I find it strange that so many of them don't like things too salty but they eat a lot of kimchi...isn't that quite salty?? the girl in blue and white and the one in the floral pattern shirt together are so cute. I would love to take them out to a restaurant.
the caucasian server speaking perfect Korean is more impressive than what they think of the food...shrugs shoulders..just me opinion....props 2 u girl...
I mean, she works in Korea, you'd expect she would know Korean.
Korea has come a long ways from 10 years ago. Not fully there, but getting there!

- that's a good point too. As far as I'm concerned, localized versions aren't considered the real thing. Seoul has had burgers, pizzas, Italian food, Japanese food, Chinese food, Mexican food, etc for decades. But only recently did authentic places start opening up.
Lol. Love your videos. Please keep em coming! Has there been one about cajun food? 😃 might be interesting.
Moon doggie we’ve considered it but that one would be a bit difficult to pull off without the right venue and chef.
Sky Muhammad ahhhh darn. Im...out of ideas 😢 lol.Hawaiian? Indian curries? Russian? Nah those are probably difficult too.
Wow i'm glad they tried the neapolitan genovese which is an onion meat sauce... the other genovese is pesto sauce
Wine cuts the greasiness better than some damn pickle.
And who the hell wants sweet pickles anyway? 😂😂
We’re inclined to agree with you
I AM PICKLE REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
Korean girls are gorgeous 😍
Super true
Vero ma nun sapn magnà e sor
I know, right!
I'm not usually attracted to Asian women, but Korean women are super attractive.
@@D33Lux Koreans are like the Norwegians of Asians. Super beautiful.
One thing that I found interesting was how the Koreans reacted to some of the spices used in Italian food. When I was in Korea one of my favorite meals was curry which can have very strong flavors but their taste seemed to really appreciate balance and harmony.
It amazes me every time I see one of these videos how I could have lived so long without realizing I need this in my life!
The lasagna was the Northern Italian version with bechamel sauce . Southern Italian lasagna is with tomato sauce. Since most Italian-Americans are from the South, it's what we know as lasagna.
Don’t watch if you’re starving... my stomach is growling louder than a lion lol
"*facepalms in korean*" idk why i laughed so hard at this
Italiani fatevi sentire! Intasiamo i commenti!
As someone who is currently in naples i have fallen in love with the pasta alla genovese. I did not know that it was actually a local dish until now, that explains why it is the best pasta you can find in naples
Italian food is just the best in the world imo alongside french food
