The story of a man who came in through the window and attacked the children and wife for a few articles is quickly uncovered as false leading to the mother as the primary suspect.

So sad. Poor woman and her children. None of them had a chance. Thank you for your story telling and research into these cases.

Yes. Questions still exist as to her true culpability and that of the father. Certainly she was vulnerable. And the poor children. It was regarded that the father had attempted to kill them earlier. 😔

This was a very intriguing and yet horrific story about the murders of two precious little children. It appears as though their mother did murder them and that she obviously was mentally insane. The father didn't seem to be that distraught over their deaths, also it looks as though he may have killed his parents for financial gains. I agree with the sentencing of the mother she definitely needed to housed in a mental health institution. I personally think that Bacon should have received the death penalty because it looks as though he murdered his own parents. Great investigation, presentation, backstories, illustrations, photos, and videos as well. Happy New Year 2024 to you Mr. Robin Coles and your team for bringing us excellent programs. Take care 🦋

Yes indeed. The forensics were noit up to absolutley determining that the parents had died from poisoning - that was the problem. The body was particularly well preserved, but that was no definitive proof of murder. As for Thomas: it was suspected that he had killed his mother and father. That he had attamepted to kill the two children by fire - they were saved by a servant girl. And then the murder of the two children. Martha was sufferengt mental illness, but had he egged her into doing the deed? There was a lingering suspcion that he somehow was involved in their death, but nothing could be proven. Martha was vulnerable but in her time in the asylum it had been noted that she was a loving mother. A very twisty tale this one! Thank you for your wonderful support! 🙏

Yes, many a twist and turn on this one. You are right, the children - so sad. It is difficult to assess the true culpability of Thomas. Did he egg her on? She was clearly vulnerable. Thank you for your support! 🙏

Excellent video but how tragic. I find it interesting how well the police in those days were able to investigate, come up with important clues and find the murderers without the help of modern methods and science.

Thank you! Nice to hear what we thnk too - there have been lots of cases where there seems to have been real care and effort involved in solving the case. There are exceptions of course - one such case is outlined in one of tomorrow's cases. History remembers the mistakes, but there was a lot of really good police work too. Thank you for your kind words and for your support!

What's more likely, there's two murderers in family, or one?

Hard to say on this one. 🤔Martha was clearly vulnerable, as we know from her previous stint in an insane asylum at her husband's request. Coincidentally, she shares iwth staff there that her husband killed his mother whch is disregarded as an insane hallucination. Did he egg her on? Did he come back and do the deed and make it look like her? Broadmoor was quite progressive at the time - she was kept there for the remainder of her life, so they must have thought she was indeed mentally unstable and a danger either to herself or to others. The husband was believed to have tried to kill the children earlier and that he had killed his mother and father. It is all rather convoluted. The children never stood a chance it would seem. 😔
