What should I make with the leftover granny squares?
A tote bag
A tote bag 🤩💖
A bag! Or if you have enough, Ive seen a few granny square balaclavas on Pinterest that are adorable too!
Good channel 🌹
A matching bag!!
You are so brave. I would never have the guts to take apart a granny square blanket. But you did, and the sweater looks great!
I kept thinking I hope it wasn't handmade because how depressing to do all that work and have it end up in a thrift store for $5!
I think too much 🙄
you cant really crochet with a machine so its definitely handmade :( but thankfully she turned it into something really beautiful, it ended up in the right hands :)
I don’t stitch my squares together at the end I join as I go
@@jesseshaftoe7899 that's true, but I thought that maybe there was some sort of industrial machine that could do anything, but I guess not!
Yess I really want a cardigan like this
Christmastree advice (also goes for wishing others happy new year): You can leave it up until Three Kings Day (6th of january). That's the official last day of appropriately giving new years resolutions as well as having your christmas tree out, it marks the end of that celebratory period. But it's 2022, nothing's conventional so do whatever you please!
Yay!! my favourite youtuber made a new video. Happy new years ❤❤
Jenna I think this is the first crochet video that only took one day ❤😂
I LOVE your attitude about following written patterns! I know how to and have on occasion but for me it's way more fun to just do my own thing! Just found your channel and love it!!!
We take down our Christmas tree around 6th of January, but on the other hand, we put it up really early (1st of advent) and we use a real tree, so it usually is super crunchy by January anyway and you kind of dont want to look at it at that point anymore ;) but dont worry, with Christmas lights, we had them on one year until Easter and just by February somebody had the brilliant idea to take them off the electricity at least so that tthey wouldnt light up at least.
Phonetically it’s Mew Mew. Lol
Love that inspo and how yours turned out👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Hey this looks great. But if you attach the granny square sleeve to the main sweater and make skinny cuffs at the end of the sleeve. Think about it 🤔. I think it will look good too. 👍 good luck
OMG THE FIRST TOY SHE THREW OFF THE COUCH MY DOG HAS IT!! and I can’t see her right now 😭😭
In Poland we usually take the Christmas tree down on February 2nd, so you have plenty of time left with your tree for Polish standards 😄
polska 😻
I'm Polish and I've never actually heard about this rule or anyone following it 😅 Is there a chance it's more regional?
I'm Polish and one year we had our tree till late March 😅
I’m Asian-American and I’m soooo going to follow this since I love Christmas! 🤗🎄💕😄
@@doirlyhavetodothis5130 so basically on fabruary 2nd is celebration of “mother of god gromniczna” and the tree should be down before that time same after 02.02 we shouldn’t sing Christmas carols anymore
Hello Jenna Phipps's, My name is Elsa R. I am 61 years old Single Young Old Women. From out in California. I have Adult Daughter. That gave me a Granddaughter that's now am Adult. I saw this video of yours & liked it very much. Then I thought of 2 suggestions for you. How about using some of the Granny Square Blanket & make a Skirt into it. To have with your sweater. And How about making a little sweater just like your's for Benson & using the Granny Squares, too. But, using just a little bit of them. You probably have more of the blanket, too. Humm. Just a suggestion for you. I knit & crochet, too. OK, I'll talk to you another time. Have a Great Day. Give Benson a Hug, too. Sincerely, Elsa R. (Before the movie, "Frozen" came out). Ha, Ha. Bye.
In Czechia we usually take down the chrismas tree on the 6th January, which is known as "The holiday of the three wise men", you know, those guys who went to give presents to baby jesus? At that day there are usually people working for a charity walking outside dressed like the three wise men and raising money for good causes.
We in germany also do ist like that:) but the people walking around dressed like the three wise men is just for catholics and They sing at your door (often they‘re children)
We do that in Argentina too!! But usually the wise men go all around the city in the back of a truck throwing candy at kids lol
@@yazminaustin7073 oh thats cool:D I want that too
I love that! Here in America as soon as it's the 26th.....no more Christmas, I swear people take their decorations down overnight and everyone goes back to being.......not nice....
I love how you ran around showing off your one sleeve 😂 I do the same thing lol. I get excited and show my husband the one finished front panel I’ve done as if you can even tell what it is yet lmao 😂😂
EXACTLY!! i finish the head of an octopus and the reaction next is admiring it for the next 10 minutes LOL
I feel this so hard. I recently got two Addi machines so I made a sweater cardigan. I was literally holding the pieces on me & standing in front if my husband with such a happy little kid look on my face. He tries to sound enthusiastic, but mostly he's just confused. I appreciate the effort though
I do the same thing! Whether I'm sewing, knitting, crocheting or mending. Of course, I do listen to him when he's amazed at some sport "thing" on TV. It's only fair.❤
the sweater looks amazing!! one thing I would suggest though is to wash/strip it. depending on how old it is it may not look dirty but there could be a lot of gross stuff
For the sweather: maybe it would be cool to have a three square length all over and use the edge of the blanket as the end of the sweater:)
For the leftover: use them as coasters for hot pans! That's very oldskool!
Awesome project! Christmas is 12 days long starting on the 25th so you are meant to keep up your tree until at least the 6th Jan which is called 'Three Kings Day' at least that's the way I've always been told
In my country we call it día de Reyes o Reyes Magos, that is kings day or magician kings day, I guess is the same thing on Jan 6th usually the tree es keep until then
FWIW, i always appreciate when you go into the more technical aspects of making something even if i don't have any intention of copying you
I love seeing your thought process!! You say that following a pattern is a lot of mental effort and for me it's the opposite! For me following a pattern is relaxing and trying to free hand something is sooo much mental work!!!
This one is so so so good! I bought this crochet blanket from the thrift store a couple months ago and I wanted to make it into a sweater but wasn't sure how to, now thanks to this video I'll definitely do it soon!
So cool! If you buy more afghans for future projects, keep in mind that sometimes granny squares are joined ‘as you go’, which is fast and easy for construction, but makes for a more complicated deconstruction. My late mom made a granny square afghan that is beautiful. It’s blue, but I don’t use it because it doesn’t go with our decor. But it *is* a color I would wear, so you’ve got me thinking!
Then you'd be wearing a hug from your Mom.
Sweater was a great success I like it..I would of done ribbing for the hem areas to match the collar for a more finished look. Look great on you though
Great work Jenna!!! I just saw the sweater for your inspiration on Pinterest yesterday!! I also went thrifting yesterday and decided against buying a granny square blanket and I just might have to go back and get it!!
Congratulations🎉 you are doing things that people have been doing for years ,recycling clothes and that is so beautiful❤ Somebody made the blanket with love and now you have made a sweater with love❤
Hi Happy New Year! It's your crib leave your Xmas tree up as long as you like. My Mama used to crochet & knit very well, she would be proud of you! Beautiful sweater. Benson is so Cool...
With the leftover granny swuates you could make a headband or handwarmers legwarmers or a Collar...😃
When you said "Hey Google" it stopped the video, and told me sleeve is manche in French.😂
Crazy how a whole blanket is $4.50 but the yarn to make it probably costed $60+ 🤦
Your creations are just so incredible every time!
Hey I have just now found your channel, and as someone who likes take things apart and remake them, I am in fact interested in every part of the process
Jenna, I'm sitting here at 1am watching you make a knitted sweater for the first time and then watching you making a sweater out of the white and blue granny squares. I laughed all the way through them .Do you know how funny you are? Love your sense of humor! You are super talented. I'm now a Subscriber for sure.
You did it and I’m not surprised. You can do anything. It looks great. Love you and your channel. Granny Cindy from Pennsylvania.
Welcome back Jenna!! Your sweater turned out fantastic !!
ilysm I swear Jenna ur my therapy
Best crochet video I've seen in a while, very inspiring. I love your enthusiasm!
Hi!!! I’m French and yep sleeve in French is manche … I know it’s a little bit weird 😂
Jenna! You should make more crochet videos, I love them💕
That is such a gorgeous idea!
This makes me smile. You are so courageous with your crochet.
Love the way it came out. Looks great!
You now have 280K subscribers, Jenna!😊😊🌸🌸❤️❤️
OMG I love your videos, and the sweter looks really cool🧶🧶❤️❤️
We do say “manches” in France, which means “sleeves” but also has a variety of other meanings 😅 Love your video as always Jenna ! 💕
Oh cool!! In portuguese, sleeve is "manga", which also means mangoes!! Kinda sounds similar.. And the verb "mangar" means making fun of someone
I usually take it down at the end of the second week of January. I live in the U.S. in Michigan. There is still so much snow and it’s just depressing without a Christmas tree up 😉
You should try doing the DC in back loop/front loop alternating so you get a ribbed effect on the collar and cuffs. :)
I mean, my partner and I still have both the lights and Menorah up in the window so, considering Hanukkah was over December 6th, you're totally good to go haha!
Cute sweater good job love the creativity
Our Xmas tree is still up and we have no plans of taking it down because we are also lazy lol I say just do it whenever you feel you have the energy and time 💗
sleeve is really manche in french :) never thought about it but it does sound kinda weird x)
Not me eyeing the granny square blanket on the back of my couch thinking “I could take you apart” 🧐
In Italy we take the Christmas tree down after the 6th of January. But mine is still up and I'm not ready to take it down yet!
Brilliant! And it looks great. How about a scarf from the leftover grannies?
That sweater is so cute! What a great job you did! I just discovered your channel. Looks like a lot of fun! You’re too cute! Your little dogs too!
Jenna with the leftover squares you should make a matching sweater for Benson
Can you do a cleaning and organizing your room video and maybe going thrifting for some more decor for your room I love your room make over
Just keep the tree up all year round and decorate it for whatever occasion/season. It can be a season tree.
I take mine down on the 6th as it’s the 12th day of Christmas, my mum always done it that way xx
In southeast Texas tradition, the tree stays up until after New Year’s Day so that the light and joy of Christmas is carried into the new year.
I really like this idea and plan on using this idea as a base. Also, side note, is your shirt inside out?
I have been watching your videos for the last couple months and I LOVE your channel. When you didn’t post last week I went through and watched all the wedding videos and OMG SO CUTE LOVE LOVE LOVE
i would love to see u make a knitted plushie in the future i also kinda want to learn and its just cute and can be a nice decor:)btw i luv the sweater!!!♡♡♡
It turned out so cute!! what a great idea for a thrift flip!! 😍
When you asked your google play to translate sleeve, my google play heard you and answered you. Then she asked if you wanted anything else translated. I took the liberty of refusing on your behalf. 🤣🤣 Love the sweater❤️
Great idea, fabulous finished project. Very modern sweater, super sleeves idea.
Thank you for rescuing that blanket and giving it new meaning and purpose.
It turned out FANTASTIC!
A Miu Miu (pronounced Mew Mew) inspired jumper love it!
Rocking a Jeanne d'Arc vibe!!! To And I hope you made a doggie sweater with the extra squares!
Omg I love this you did such a great job
That turned out so well!!!
maybe doing more of a open cardigan next time would be soooo cute too !!!
I love the sweater out of the square blanket you are a genius
You should definitely buy an electric fuzz remover! It is a life saver. So much easier to use compared to a razor and the results are great! They also make great gifts. Love the sweater! ♥️♥️♥️
Fantastic, looks wonderful
OMG YES ITS ONLY BEEN A WEEK BUT I MISS YOUR VIDEO SO MUCH😭💗
You did a greaaaat job there. I love it.
It turned out so well Jenna!!!
What if you separate the 2 center front squares at the neckline, just undo the seam that connects them about halfway down and then bind them off in your navy blue thread? Think of like a henley neckline without buttons. your neckline would have a little more interest and would fit over your head easier.
I've been wanting to do this with my nanas blankets!! I have like 30 need to use them 🤣 this is perfect!
You are very funny and beautiful so that's why I see you 😊☺️😊... Also i love thrifting too❤️❤️😁
Once again brilliant! Thanks!
Yay Jenna! Your finally back! I missed youu💚🧶
Where the sleeves and the back panels meet make a really cool design, this lovely!
I love the way it turned out. I'm impressed.
crazy but so nice girl! in love with your ideas 😍🥰
You did a good job !
Loving the sweater as for the tree should be the 6th being the 12th day of Christmas but think its upto the individual personally we no longer put 1 up so no taking down x
Heyy Jenna ❤️ I'm from India 🇮🇳 and i want to ask you that where did you learn fashion designing from?? And btw love you ❤️ you are just amazing I can't stop watching your videos....you are so beautiful 😍❤️✨ lot's of love from India 🇮🇳❤️✨
Freakin’ awesome 😍
You can do anything Jenna!!!!!!!!!😱😍🍀
Really awesome sweater I love everything you did and it looks great on you.
When my kids were younger I left the tree up until Valentine's Day and put Valentine's all over it and Valentine candy! 💝
( I think the designer is pronounced mooie mooie)
Omg Jenna this turned out amazing!
I get why you thought this video wouldn't be relevant but it totally is. I hardly crochet but I'm mostly a sewist. I got a thrifted granny square blanket that I want to turn into a sweater and it led me here, even though I was looking for more of a sewing tutorial, so I'm Def gonna take some ideas from here and some from other videos. No one will have the exact blanket so no one will do the exact sweater, but we get ideas from each other. I absolutely love how yours came out. I wanted more of a cardigan but now I'm debating because the collar is so so cute on yours. Great job and thank you for sharing
Jenna's videos are calming, whether it's knitting, crochet or demo!!!❤
Looks great!! 🥰
I am one of the few that cares about your explanations. However, I do not knit or crochet... You have inspired me to have the desire to learn. I was wondering if you would not mind making a video on how to start these two hobbies (or point me to the video if you made it).
On the Christmas Tree thing, I think by the end of Jan is acceptable. My mom took ours down on thee 2nd.
My BF took down our Christmas tree on the Dec 26th. Mind you, this is a fake small, about 2 ft, one where you prop it on a small table with electrical lights already and very very minor ornaments since there is no room for more.
That turned out so amazing!!!!🎉👏🏻
I’m from New Zealand and here we say “waam bam thank you ma’am” it just hurts my soul when you say “waam bam turkey chicken” it sounds so wrong 😑
I don't know if anyone's confirmed but French for sleeves is indeed "manche(s)" with an s for plural
I use fiskars school scissors to give pilled and fuzzy knits a haircut. I can control them a bit better than sewing scissors. I always have them on hand in my notions bag. I stab myself with the fancier knitting scissors.🤣
My family tradition is to take down the tree on New Years day after I get the pork and saurkraut in the Crock Pot and the Football games are on.Im usually very hungover while I do this.
