  • Semi Auto is the phrase of the moment, well for this week anyway. So I bought a semi auto / self indexing rifle to have a go with. It's a 12G CO2 powered rifle, not putting out much power at all. But it's a bargain for around £150, I bought one, and this is the unboxing video.
    Enjoy.

Thank you Giles, That rifle is a bit more approachable for new airgunners who want something fun for the backyard. Not everyone can shoot a 30 cal FX Impact in their back yard. And you don't have to be 12 to appreciate a quiet plinker for ranges no more than 15 yards. Now it needs a moderator and a red dot optic and a good low noise pellet trap. Oh and Giles young man, here in the southern US states we have long had a word to greet people. Its "Yall" no other fancy spelling, its just yall. It doesn't mean you all, it means yall. (sounded out as yaw + L). I am willing to grant you a special license to use that word.

Nice to see you doing the 1077 even though you own some top notch rifles. I've noticed some really snobby comments about replicas and cheaper items on channels lately. Great just what we need the top end owners alienating possible new owners.

I have this one and I also had to read the manual but after I got it all sorted I put a small scoop on it and it is rather enjoyable to shoot.

I have a 1077W, they are good fun.
Obviously you're not going to get a high degree of accuracy.
But, it's tough to beat for rolling pop cans.

I have the synthetic stock version - biggest complaint is the trigger pull is a little tough for a smaller child. It is a decent plinking gun, you can get better with the trigger but it would be a much better gun if there were a way to precock / single action the trigger as well.

Not sure on the rifle. But like the fact your looking at cheaper items too. Please do a full review even if it’s to say it’s crap don’t bother with it

1022 to 1077 no wonder it looks just like a Ruger. Interesting little plinker which makes a change from high end PCP's. Typical male human, didn't read the instructions. Keep them coming.

I have this rifle, it is a 15 m tin can plinker. It was fun 8 years ago ..It tends to leak CO2 either from the catridge flange, or the transfer port to the valve (a copper pipe) or finally from the valve. I tried to convert it to pcp but I blew up the valve (at 1500 psi).... It waits for almost a year now in its box to get repaired .... I can't bother, I am too busy shooting proper airguns. Buy an Artemis instead.... Unless you find a second hand one beefed up (with 88 cc CO2 conversion or pcp conversion). On its original version I wouldn't pay more than 60€ for that junk. It is like a toy, but the kids don't like to shoot it because of the heavy trigger.

I have built a couple and this gun is loads of fun with bulk fill setup and running 1200psi (totally safe at 1200psi but I wouldn't run more then 1200psi) 13ci 3000psi tank regged to 1150 to 1200psi makes the gun run right at 11ftlbs with 7.9cphps and once you fix the barrel in the barrel cover so it doesn't move all over the place and a reflex sight you can expect 1.5 inch 10 shot groups at 25 yards. When i grab these guns im not expecting half MOA 50y groups if i want that i grab one of my FX or RAW guns. But for what it is with some work this is one ultra fun gun. I have built 3 and each one is around 11ftlbs at 1200psi and one is at 13ftlbs so i assume a heavier hammer spring on that gun. The guns just work they don't jam or fail to cycle. Accuray is usable anc tin cans at 50y are huntable (50y groups after fixing the barrel and running 1200psi regged air are around 3 inches for 10 shots and in any other case 3 inches at 50y i would send that gun back after the first group but with this gun im happy with those groups and love the gun they are tons of fun) two have reflex sights on them and one has a 1-6x scope on it (remember the receiver is plastic so the sight you mount needs to be light weight as it's not super solid on top) on a 3000psi fill on a 13ci bottle regged to 1200psi gets about 130 shots to a fill and if you run it at 950psi you will see about 7ftlbs and get about 210 to 220 shots. Out of the three I've built all three past shoot only two pellets decently and that's the 7.9g cphps and the crosman Premier 7.9 domes... The guns don't shoot anything else worth a darn at 25 yards. At 50 all three of mine will put 10 in about 3 inches of the 7.9g domes and 3.5 inches for the CPHPs. JSB 8.44s at 50y will be in the 5 to 6 inch range for 10. Something you have to do is fix the barrel in the barrel cover or you will see 2 to 2.5 inch groups at 10y. I use tape to wrap around the barrel at the end to make it set tight in The "shroud" that will make it accurate enough to hit tins at 50y consistently. On co2 they run right at 7ftlbs and at 50y tins will be hard to hit if there is any wind. Mine will consistently put lead on tins at 50y. There is a few trigger mods that take just a few minutes to complete and make the trigger much more livable even tho it's still hard to deal with when you are used to match grade triggers and you deff have to get used to the trigger to shoot it decently. Im used to match grade bench rest powder burner triggers and match grade pcp triggers and when you lack triggers like that it makes it hard to stomach but it's a double action trigger so it's just the way it is. With the spring mod that will reduce trigger pull about 50% it's still long and creppy lol but it's a extremely fun gun for 100 bucks and will put a smile on your face. I've used it for ratting as well. With .177 Crow magnums it's plenty accurate at 15 to 20 yards for rats and at right at 12ftlbs with that pellet at 1200psi. A reflex sight and a bottle of air and 10 mags already loaded and ready to go it's a close range get hunting dream. I 3d printed a slip on moderator for them (print file I put on thingverse) and it's damn near silent with it other then the hammer hitting the valve there is near zero muzzle report. Since its 15 to 20y max and the crow mags are shooting right at a inch at 15y and open very quickly after 20 from an inch 10 shot groups at 15y to 3 inches at 25y.. I cut a small notch in the head of the pellet is doesn't hurt close range accuracy at all and causes the pellet to absolutely expand even at low energy levels and body shots on rats will not have pass thrus at 20y with the notch in the crow mag but will pass thru without the notch.

Well, I'm well over 60 and decided that I need one! Got a plastic stock version, second hand, very little used. These are not intended as precision guns or punching trough 2x4s, just for pure fun plinking. Or maybe, to some extend, for mimicking action-style shooting. I print miniature IDPA targets, set them a few meters away and shoot fast "doubles" on them. This little rifle is so light to move between targets and points so well that I feel no need for a more realistic military style replica that would cost six times more.
